Let's start afresh!

OP posts:

Tried to run at the gym yesterday and just could not. Walked uphill instead, and did 20 mins on stepper. Do think the fact that it was pm made a huge difference as had no probs running Monday morning.

Loooong day in London today.

3 eggs 2 rashers bacon
dark green salad, prosciutto ham, cheese, salad cream salad (yum - colleagues salivating)
almonds for snack
glass of red

think I'm having tuna salad for tea...if I can be bothered to get up and make it. Found myself smelling the boys toast this morning....

ConstanceFelicity · 14/04/2011 21:22

Shitty day today... Woke up with spinning head, dizzy, felt like shit. Had to phone DH to come from work to look after the baby as I thought I was going to faint. Went to GP as this happens aprox every 3 months. Diagnosed with Menieres disease (mild) which is brilliant as I now have drugs for it. Feel fine tonight.

DP made me half a tin of chicken and veg soup for lunch, it had potatoes in it but I didn't have the heart to turn him down. Then had an apple, and for dinner a chicken salad. Feel much better tonight and hoping to have a good night's sleep. Quite proud of myself for not succumbing to my ultimate comfort food- Toast- On a day like today, but I've just proven to myself that I don't need it.

Have lost 2kgs this week and nearly at the 3 stone off mark so very pleased. I have been eating a few phase 2 foods like linseed crackers and almond flour things but I still seem to be losing. I think what really helps is all but giving up booze. I have cut down to 1 or 2 drinks in a fortnight or longer. I just have a drink when I feel like it which isn't very often now as low carbing gives me horrible hangovers and it makes the shred hard!!

Sarraburd · 15/04/2011 09:11

Encouragement to all the stallers...after not losing anything since 1 April (twisted April Fool?) suddenly yesterday am 2 pounds down, woohoo! Off on holiday tonight so will aim not to put it back on....fishing village in France so will aim to eat lots of fish. And oysters! And get thee behind me, baguette and croissant.

Courgette fritters best with salad I think, but yes if you reduce the egg will work better as Bol accompaniement. I fry mine but liking the idea of muffin cases! Will try.

Sorry you're having such a tough time cf. Hope the meds sort it.

Sal well done on running and shredding! Will join you on return!

ConstanceFelicity · 15/04/2011 09:32

Pound and a half down this week, and with curry and af, I am pleased there's any loss at all.

Thanks all for being kind. Feeling back to normal today.

FreeButtonBee · 15/04/2011 10:36

10 0.75 today. How close am I to seeing 9st!

ChoccoVersial · 15/04/2011 17:49

Go FBB! Maybe if you stand on the scales on one foot tomorrow you'll see the magic 9. Grin

Well, I've just got back from a long picnic in the park with some friends (mainly so DS1 could "hang" with his mates at the skatepark). I was very good, prepared a little pot of salad and chopped salami, but then a friend had brought along a birthday cake, so I had a piece, then out came the Percy Pigs, so I had a few of them, then some mini eggs......Blush But I've been good all week, so I didn't feel too guilty.

Last night I cooked that Heston Blumenthal steak with rocket again - very extravagant but delicious.

Have a good holiday Sarra - I'm afraid when I went to France last year I was powerless to resist the lure of croissants and frites, and the diet was most definitely put on hold for a fortnight. Hopefully you have more restraint than I do.

Sarraburd · 15/04/2011 20:40

Yes I have packed the Box...!

What do you do to the Heston steak?

Cauliflower fritters might be good with Bol. I did an Indiany one a while back which I think used chickpea flour, water, oil and spices....will dig out recipe on return.

TheGoddessBlossom · 15/04/2011 20:49

Brekkie 3 eggs.

Lunch almonds cheese salami gherkins

Banana pre gym

Macadamia nuts

Loads of water, tea, capuchinno, 2 red wines (so far).....

30 mins interval running/walking, 10 mins on stepper, weights.

9 4 this morning, if I stood on one leg and prayed....'got to say I thought i'd have lost more. Sorry if I sound petulant but in my worl my diet is so radically diff I thought it would have more of an impact....

Killing time while waiting for crossing...this cauliflower fritter with Parmesan recipe looks like it could be a good pasta substitute (soya flour if you're not doing flour)

ChoccoVersial · 15/04/2011 22:41

Sarra - your dedication to the low-carb cause knows no bounds....hope you are on your way to France by now! Thanks for recipe - looks interesting. I guess you could do fritters out of pretty much any veg/egg/herb mixture.

Heston's steak recipe. Yummy.

Today has gone downhill - am now quaffing cab sauv and eating chocolates. AF has arrived (that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it).

Note to self - must get bra-size measured - my rack is a shadow of its former self, and I was only 36B to begin with.

A well-fitting bra will take lbs off, Sal. You should have more confidence - you are doing amazingly well with the running and everything, so don't forget it!

I was good today until about 10 minutes ago when I scoffed a Gu choccy pud. They are small, but I didn't dare read the carb count. Apart from that:

Breakfast - linseed pancake, with grated cheese
Lunch - salad, coleslaw and cheese
Dinner - Asda ruby murray with cauli rice. And a Gu pud.

FreeButtonBee · 17/04/2011 15:31

10 2.5 this morning. V good. Just a lovely salad - smoked mackerel, watercress and rocket, tomato, pepper, red onion and olive oil and lemon juice. DELISH!

Dinner tonight is roast shoulder of lamb, green beans, spinach and whatever other veg i can find in the back of the fridge!

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine!

Ooooooh sushi, my DS loves sushi (as do I) - might go there before Easter holidays are over Smile

Well done you for walking past the ex ex bf.

ConstanceFelicity · 19/04/2011 08:25

Woooohooooo for sal strutting past the ex... :o

I have been away on hols for a long weekend, and guess what: not one slip up. Not a thing. I prepared salads for myself every day, and enjoyed them: I refused cake and biccies at friends' places, and didn't tough alcohol. I don't think I could have done it were it not for the people I saw who noticed I'd lost, and also the size 14 trousers I could fit into in shops. Hurrah! :)

One thing annoyed me though. At Matalan, I tried on loads of jeans and a pair of cotton trousers, all a 14. The jeans fit, some were on the big side even, but the trousers wouldn't even do up. Why are sizes like this? I am beyond annoyed. Stupidly annoyed, actually, in the grand scheme of things :o

I got some nice jeans at a charity shop too. Lovely fit.

That's even better sal!

Today:
Ham salad lunch
an apple
quorn salad
some pineapple

Short but steep walk.

CointreauVersial · 20/04/2011 16:01

Blimey, haven't posted for ages. The weather is too nice to be sitting in front of the PC - what a good decision it was to take this week off work.

BBQ later - perfect low-carb meal, basically meat and salad - hoorah!

Just reporting back on the pre-frozen cauliflower rice - it worked a treat. I blitzed a whole cauli and froze it in a large bag - it did go into clumps but not too big - then straight from the freezer into the saucepan as and when needed. Saves washing up the pesky magimix every time I want a portion, so I'll do that again.

I have also discovered something very delish to sprinkle on my yogurt/fruit breakfast, if you are looking for a bit of fibre and bulk - it's this. Not cheap, but a couple of spoonfuls is all you need, and contains less than 1g carb. Hopefully H&B will do their BOGOF deal again soon and I can stock up.

Anyhow, off to catch a few more rays.
