Let's start afresh!

OP posts:

Thanks Free Button Bee. I think you are right. I do weigh myself at exactly the same time each day (PB/PB - Pre breakfast, post poo, sorry if TMI Grin). I guess what is interesting is that I haven't gained considering the fat I am eating compared to normally!

So you think the meals sound ok? Tonight is chicken currry with broccolli instead of rice, never eaten so much broccolli in my life, DH offered to dig up the front garden so we could grow our own!

If I can make 9 stone before my sister's wedding (22nd) I'd be really really happy with that.

TheGoddessBlossom · 12/04/2011 10:04

Yes I guess there are still carbs in what I am eating, is that right?

ConstanceFelicity · 12/04/2011 10:15

I am glad you do the PB/PP thing, because I wonder, do you all weigh yourselves in the buff as I do?

TheGoddessBlossom · 12/04/2011 10:17

spex only....Grin

FreeButtonBee · 12/04/2011 10:22

I weigh pre breakfast, post wee, maked of course (sometime in knickers). Can't summon up a morning bowel movement in time sadly so I like to imagine I am at least 2lbs lighter at some point in the day!

TGB - I think your meals sound pretty much like my way of eating. Dinner tonight sounds lovely. I love broccoli!

TheGoddessBlossom · 12/04/2011 10:30

me too thankfully!

Thanks.

Do you have any other ideas of snacks? I am a big snacker/grazer although am more full on these meals.........

Cheese, chicken drumsticks, smoked salmon, any other pickled fish type products you can find/like, ham, parma ham in partic is nice. Try Lidl for nice continental meats and fish. I eat plain full fat natural youghurt quite a lot. Greek yog also good. It takes a while but once you get used to the taste, it's really nice and a bit more like a snack. Some people go for boiled eggs but, although I like them, that would make me Envy

Timbachick · 12/04/2011 14:48

Quick question ... do people tend to exercise early in the am or later in the pm? Just wondering?

Timbachick · 12/04/2011 15:22

Girls. Help me. I am struggling with sugar cravings at the mo. I want to eat the EU sugar mountain (assuming there is one) Grin

Am not pre-m, as I do not have periods anymore (not peri or post meno, just no periods!!! Hmm)

Just really really struggling at the moment. Sad

ConstanceFelicity · 12/04/2011 16:08

Coffee really helps my cravings Timba. I know it ain't always good, but better than donuts IMO. :o
Honestly, I can't believe what a difference a good strong coffee makes.

And I exercise mid-afternoon (about 2), usually a long walk with toddler on my back!

ChoccoVersial · 12/04/2011 16:58

Bloss - your diet sounds not unlike mine last year, and I probably only lost a pound or two a week, but those weeks really clock up when it's such an easy diet to follow. And it has stayed off! But like most people my weight varies by 2-3 pounds day by day, and it would drive me mad if I weighed myself every day. Just keep looking at the trends.....when I started I was dipping below 10 stone every now and then, then all of a sudden I was below 10 stone all the time, and so on.......

It's true there are carbs in many things; the trick is to eat loads of the things with very little!! So have a few nuts as a snack but not a whole bag.

Timba - I'm an early morning exerciser - not that I'm naturally an early riser - but I find if I don't get it out of the way first thing, before I really have time to think about it, it won't happen. For example, I could be running now (only DS1 is at home), but am I? Nooooo, the lure of a comfy seat in front of the PC is far too strong.....good thing I went at 7am. Also in the summer it's cooler then, and you only need to shower/do your hair/make-up etc once in the day!

By the way, if I have a sugar/cake craving I find a chunk of cheese or something savoury bizarrely makes it go away. I suppose your body is just saying "give me energy" and we confuse that with "give me sugar" - a bit like when you feel hungry sometimes you really just need a drink of water.

Anyway, bolognaise tonight - instead of the usual garlic courgettes we eat it with I thought I'd try the courgette fritters. Will report back.....

TheGoddessBlossom · 12/04/2011 18:38

Thankyou all. Most helpful.

Thanks chocco and CV. I love my caffeine so will hit that and have a serious mature cheese habit so will grab for a chunk of that before I succumb to the siren song of the maltesers' Grin

Just have pure beef burgers and steamed veggies. Smile. V nice.

ConstanceFelicity · 12/04/2011 20:36

Good day today. Baked approx. 50 muffins (some mars bar ones and some with lemon curd centred) and I didn't touch any of it. I even wiped my fingers on a kitchen towel when I got some mix on my fingers instead of licking it!

2 coffees
Veggie sausage salad
Weird beef and veg in tomato sauce thing with cauli rice. Was only nice with oodles of salt.

Went for a walk with the baby in the pram for about an hour, and then went uphill again on my own tonight. It's definately getting easier, though I am still having to stop a lot to catch my breath.

Mums at the gate finally noticed I'd lost, and were lovely and kind. Felt nice!

ChoccoVersial · 12/04/2011 21:11

Don't like my Easter name, it makes me think about what I'm missing out on!

Well, I did the courgette fritter; it was o-kaaay, but too eggy - I will probably only use one egg per two courgettes next time. I think it might also be nicer shaped into patties and fried, rather than oven-baked, as I think it would be nicer crispy on the outside. I also used linseed flour instead of plain flour, which probably contributed to the eggy texture. But it definitely has potential.

FreeButtonBee · 13/04/2011 10:00

Another baaad day yesterday. WTF. I am seriously in danger of de-wagoning. I have been skipping breakfast which I think has contributed. So back on the yoghurt this morning.

10 2.75 this morning so scales are okay. Lunch will be boring pret salad as I have training so need to be able to pop out for something easy.

Dinner is lush butchers sausages plus salad and fridge leavings.

CV - I tried frying them before and it wasn't a great success. Maybe leave them in the oven for longer or finish under the grill. But less egg may help - my current eggs are from a farm and all different sizes so might have used a small one. Oh, and also I squeezed as much moisture out of the courgette as possible before mixing with the other ingredients. Might have fogotten that bit Blush it probabkly made a difference to the sogginess level. I just used a clean teatowel and squeezed the grated courgette really tightly in the centre over the sink - lots of water came out.

ChoccoVersial · 13/04/2011 19:35

It wasn't soggy, as such, just really......eggy. A bit Spanish Omelette-y, not unpleasant, but rather strange with a pile of bolognaise.

DH ate half of it through gritted teeth, then showered the rest in Tabasco. Hmm

ConstanceFelicity · 13/04/2011 21:06

Hello lovely ladies!

Ate quite a lot today, but nothing bad. Don't need to snack as much as I have done today though.

Melon and one veg sausage mid-morn
veg sausage salad
a bit more melon
Roast veg (onion and pepper), sweetcorn and some mackerel
3 coffees

Not walking weather so went for my first swim in years. Lovely. Very self-concious in swimsuit though...

Timbachick · 13/04/2011 22:55

CV - what's the recipe for the courgette fritters? Sounds interesting. Could you post it here please???

ChoccoVersial · 13/04/2011 23:47

Well Timba, the courgette fritter recipe has now become a bastard mutant combo of Sarra's/FBB's original version! You'll have to add your own variation:

grated courgette (dry out as FBB suggests above),
egg (FBB/Sarra sugggested one egg per courgette, but I think less), crumbled feta
spoonful of flour (optional, or use linseed or chestnut)
mint or oregano
salt & pepper

Into a dish (I used a shallow Le Creuset), maybe some parmesan on top, and bake.

Or fry!

Alouiseg · 14/04/2011 12:45

I just made these without the flour in muffin cases, gorgeous!

FreeButtonBee · 14/04/2011 14:33

CV - lol at the bastard mutant courgette fritters! My DH who hates both egg and courgettes really liked them - but he is a weirdo. Hope you amnage to make them work for you.

I am 10 2.5 today so seem to be on a downward trend still. I have stabilised under 10 5 and I've been under 10 and a half stone for over 5 weeks now. Which is fantastic. I still can't really believe it TBH. And I think I might be in the 'testing boundaries' section of this WoE. I am definitely cheating a lot more than at the start but somehow seem to be getting away with it. It might just be that I am more aware and so actually not really cheating that much. But I am trying to reign it in as I really really don't want to put on weight again.

Had yoghurt and berry compote for breakfast (had to go buy it in Pret - I normally have plain or with fresh berries) then chicken salad for lunch (boring).

Dinner tonight will be thai chicken curry without the rice. Will have lots of veg in and on the side - prob pak choi, peppers and brocolli in some mixture.

Timbachick · 14/04/2011 15:56

Thanks CV - I will try the bastard mutant version first and post on my findings/changes! Grin

Am having serious cravings at the mo. Yuk.

Did spend 3 hours digging the garden yesterday though ... so that must count for something on the bloody scales. Hmm
