STEPPING IN FOR NORMA

Welcome one and all to our 5th thread

If you're just starting out or you've been following WW for a while and you're looking for support you've come to the right place! :)

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! ) Grin and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week.

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in - pour yourself a Wine or Brew and make yourself at home :)

Hi Ladies - would like to join you if that's OK. Have done 2 weeks at WW and heard about your thread from Wizzler. Had a good first week (5lbs loss) but then only half a pound this week so could do with some support, inspiration and good ideas ....

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 07/04/2011 07:20

On phone so can't remember everything, sorry.

Froot that is really good to hear, thanks . We are booked for a visit after Easter.

Piffle sorry about your coccyx, sounds very painful.

Littlefish, 50lbs will soon come round, you are well on the way. Am hoping today's weigh in will make a tiny dent in next 50lbs!

Willaby sorry about gain but at least you know why and can do that drawing line thing that I think is the key skill you need to learn whilst doing this.

Weigh in for me today. I'd have a really good loss if I could go in my pyjamas and not eat breakfast, wii says I've lost 4lbs. Shame that by the time I put clothes on and have had my cuppa and breakfast most of it will go back on . Would be happy with 2 lbs but would love 2.5lbs then will get my down a number sticker.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 07/04/2011 07:31

Forgot to say welcome Lola. if it's any help I lost 5lbs first week then nothing the next week on SW before I switched to WW. Am on 50lbs now. Hang in there, it will happen. Annoying when it does happen but I think sometimes after a big loss your body refuses to let go of anymore fat for a few days until happy you're not starving it.

NoWayNoHow · 07/04/2011 08:36

Morning all!

CLB sorry you were feeling so down - I hope you're feeling better today?

blondes congrats on being so good at soft play, but pmsl at the stealth ninja sausage attack. Don't worry, I'm sure your halo will be up and running again today!

piffle I broke my coccyx when I was 15, so I REALLY feel your pain. Hope you're feeling a bit better today? Are you able to get one of those foam donuts with a gap for you to suspend your tailbone? That saved my life

willaby sorry about your gain, but at least you know why, and can have a fresh start today

IHeartIona there's a great pork recipe on the WW website if you can access it. Yes, WI at home now - didn't feel like I was getting enough out of the meetings to warrant £20 a month, so now just pay £6.95 a month for eSource and get support from all you lovely ladies! In terms of exercise, things like Shred and Davina work really well, imo, because you can do them in the comfort of your own home, and they're short enough to be able to fit in your day, so you tend to do them more often than, say, going to gym for an hour and a half.

shoulders here's hoping that's a proper WI result! Fingers crossed for the real deal next week.

LolaLady welcome! Don't be disappointed with your loss this week after the 5lbs last week. That's still an average of 2.75lbs a week, which is fantastic. I think you'll find many of us tend to follow this "big loss one week, little loss the following" pattern.

wynken good luck for WI - hope you can eke out that half lb for your sticker!

Well, I took all of your advice last night and went with the two starters option. For the calamari starter, I pointed it as 1pp for the squid and 4pp for the sauce it was in (it was just peppers, onions and tomatoes, sort of like a ratatouille, but figure they'd used a tbsp olive oil). For the aubergine and tomato stack, I added 3pp for the yogurt dressing and another 4pp for olive oil (although it didn't taste at all oily, but better safe than sorry!). So, once you factor in my 4 Bacardi and Diet Cokes (8pp) it wasn't too bad a night out and I only used 7 of my weeklies, which was good.

Wow, just realised how long this post is - SORRYY!!! Grin

HeyH0 · 07/04/2011 08:52

Vnmum I do have a pedometer, just not a WW one.

I'd imagine any accurate mid-range unit will give you the info you want, if not the precise number of points earned. In my case I input my height, weight and stride length, it counts steps/distance travelled, but also calculates calories burned (including aerobic calories if I've been moving for 15+ minutes). I don't know how accurate the WW model is, but I find my pedometer invaluable.

Off to catch up on thread...

Piffle · 07/04/2011 09:49

Dear god am in dreadful pain if I move, ice packs and thank god Megamind to keep the 4 yr old busy, DH coming back from work at 3 ish
Yesterday walking was ok, today it is unbearable :(
So am giving up on life today, body demands rest, therefore I shall...

I only had 8 weeklies left after the w/e Blush and as I go over by 1-3 points most days it was always going to be a rubbish week. Though prior to pain I did rack up 4-6 activity PP per day so I hope to have STS at worst.
I can see ability to walk as exercise severely compromised so it is going to be a very restrained weekend, no letting loose with curries and beer...

As for pedometer I have one I could send to someone? I use a GPS based iphone app, totally recommend these apps they are GREAT

Food today
All Bran banana semi skim

Ham Salad

Dinner - Bacon, scrambled eggs, mushroom, tomato and perhaps toast...

WI tomorrow Hmm

LittleFriendSusan · 07/04/2011 09:59

NWNH well done for only using 7 weeklies on a night out, that's very good going!

Wynken good luck for the WI today.

Piffle sorry to hear about your injury and hope you're not feeling too sore today.

Wizzler - thanks for the suggestions :) I am rather cack handed too Grin so doubt I could make the roulade look anything like it should! I attempted a yule log type thing at Xmas and it tasted good but had to slather it in choc frosting to cover up the mess... Summer pudding could be a good one though? Also came across a rhubarb charlotte which looked very tasty. Seeing my friend who's having the do today so will throw a few ideas around I think!

Willa sorry 'bout the gain, but you will easily shift that again.

Shoulders - wow, fab loss if the scales are anywhere near right. Even if 2 or 3lb out it's still a great result.

Iona - this is a very nice pork recipe, quite similar to the one NWNH posted above I suppose though, you'd need to like apples!

Lola welcome :)

Not a very good start to the day so far - had Dorset Cereal Marmalade Granola with banana, blueberries & skimmed milk for brekkie. 8PP for the granola - oops. Feel quite satisfied now though so hopefully that will keep me going till lunchtime.

Good luck to all WI today...

LittleFriendSusan · 07/04/2011 10:01

Also I can usually find pork mince quite cheap & the pork lasagne in WW cookbook is very tasty.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/04/2011 11:31

vnmum · 07/04/2011 13:38

hi, just got in from a run in this heat so sorry if i don't name check as trying not to spontaneously combust Grin

I STS again this week which i'm ok about. I'm starting an new week with vigour and started exercising again, hence the run. I am also going to try and cut carbs as much as i can, providing i can afford all the meat.

Tip from the biggest loser on tuesday, ..low fat greek yogurt has high protein so might be worth a try. might be best to compare labels first though.

well done to anyone who lost today and commiserations to anyone unhappy with WI today.
Off for a cool shower

LoopyLa · 07/04/2011 15:26

Anyone ever have days where they could just eat the world & still not fill up??? :(

I feel constantly hungry today & am eating foods I usually eat but just want to EAT, EAT, EAT more!

And can't have any more fruit either - I've already eaten 5 pices and you know what they say about what too much fruit does... Grin

Am drinking low sugar drinks in an attempt to fill me up & I always have 2 litres of water a day but what I wouldn't do for a yummy cake or pastry right now..

LoopyLa · 07/04/2011 15:27

Sorry, what a ridiculously self-involved post that was! Blush

ClaireDeLoon · 07/04/2011 15:32

WI day for me too - 2lbs off.

Loopy I have days like that too - have bad cold and on Monday just could not stop eating.

loopy I'm absolutely having one of those days too... That's what happens when you mix alcohol with a carb free dinner. You starve the next day!

Well done Androbob, Claire, Wynken

Loopy.. walk away from the food! Go do some exercise to take your mind off it.

Lola welcome to the team. Toptip : you might want to avoid this thread tomorrow if Blondes hasnt lost any weight.. she doesn't take it well!

NoWayNoHow · 07/04/2011 19:15

blondes nice to meet you too! I'm definitely going to take your advice and move WI t tomorrow. As a result, seem to have spent the rest of the afternoon making sure I eat all my 49 weeklies before I get a new set! Somehow, i don't think it's meant to work that way... Grin

LoopyLa · 07/04/2011 19:33

Blondes marmite drink?!

(vow emoticon)

And who suggested exercise? Not sure I'd be allowed to disappear for a few hours from my office, particularly on a day like today... ;)

LoopyLa · 07/04/2011 19:35

Vom emoticon obv, damn spew covered phone!

Piffle · 07/04/2011 19:41

Claire fab loss well done :)
Been a strange day, peppered with pain and nausea
Hence have 11 points still left so having a healthy chicken wrap for dinner
WI tomorrow can't see a loss happening but will be relieved if I STS
Good luck for your WI Blondes :-)

ClaireDeLoon · 07/04/2011 19:45

Just had one of the M&S count on us ready meals, sweet and sour chicken and it was ok, 9 pp in total and it included rice. 4pps left I think that might be two g&t's.

Someone was asking about the WW pedometer upthread. I have one and like it. You tell it your weight and it sets you a target 'healthy' level of steps for the day, mine at 5'4" and 13st are just over 5,000. After that you start earning activity points, for me about every 1,600 steps is a point, mostly I do about 10 - 12k steps a day, 12k is about 5 miles. It seems fairly accurate have tried it on a mapped out route and miles walked was very close over 3 miles.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/04/2011 20:39

wizzler i dont take rejection well either Grin

lola i expect a loss if been good!!! and boy you all know about it,if i havent lost!!!
