STEPPING IN FOR NORMA

Welcome one and all to our 5th thread

If you're just starting out or you've been following WW for a while and you're looking for support you've come to the right place! :)

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! ) Grin and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week.

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in - pour yourself a Wine or Brew and make yourself at home :)

Evening all Grin

Hope you are all well - just spend half an hour catching up!

Pheww...

Well, I have been missing for a shot while - had internet problems and busy at work (internet there is awful at lunch - deliberate I think).

Still on WW and still plateauing - kind og ok really, but.... onwards and downwards now!

Back to first principles from tomorrow morning - done my planning - got my tracker ready and raring to go!

Still no sign of Norma then?

Need to update my spreadsheet - may take a week!!

Back tomorrow - gotta get stuff ready for Red Nose Day for school and Brownies - I ask you - do I have 'bank' written on my head?

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2011 20:36

androb yah. You found us. This thread needs you as you are our stay checker :)

No sign of Norma or lucky :(

Hello again to all!

welcome Fernie3 - you could try eating a few less of your weeklies, if you are using them. And make sure you eat all your dailies - you will need them if you are feeding a 7.5 month old as she will still be having a lot of milk in each feed I expect.
welcome too to insanemumma - I am losing about that rate too - "slowly but surely" I say Smile

Hi and welcome to Timetostart and MyDearGirl too

Noway and blondes etc - I liked the race to the end of the thread!

Wynken and all others I have missed from end of last thread - well done on your losses!

As for me - Somehow I managed to lose this week - half pound off - the same one I put on last week and lost the week before!
stats = no tracking, definitely ate all weeklies and more!
dinner for me tonight was 150g prawns (3pp) plus a sainsburys basics pitta (3pp as quite small) and veg (0). Odd one but there was a power cut locally so I couldn't cook. Power cut also affected my WI but luckily the scales have battery backup!

JoJoBaldwin · 17/03/2011 21:08

Well done on the wee loss Iona

Weighed myself on Boots scales today so I can keep track of my body fat percentage as well as weight.

So as of today my weight is 12st 8lb and body fat is 35.8%. BMI of 30.1.

Lets hope all those figures are reduced this time next week!

helenthemadex · 17/03/2011 21:12

hi do you mind if I join you please, I really need support and advice

Im seriously overweight, I live in France so no sw or ww classes here. I tried the cambridge diet (hated it) three years ago lost two stone got pregnant and put that and more on and have struggled since. Im on my own and find the evenings are the picking time for me.

I am finding there are so many different diets I dont know which one to choose. I dont eat much red meat but I cant do the very low carbs.

I dont excercise only the walk to school, I have a Wii and blast of belly fat dvd.

I dont like the way I look, and worry about my health and the affect my weight will have on my kids

sorry for the essay I just really hope you can help

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2011 21:30

Helen try ordering the ww stuff off site to help you and welcome

jojo be interesting what your body fat loss is each week with loss's

'whispers'

Oreven gains

Iona well done on loss. All counts

As I said on old thread I can't eat all my weekies and lose - I'm up to think 46 so no doubt will sts or gain Tom - which tbh will piss me
Off as ww say yoy should he able to eat all 49 and lose weigt

OP posts:
ClaireDeLoon · 17/03/2011 22:11

Took me ages to work out what Oreven gains were. I think maybe some secret slimming pill or did you mean grain and it was a fab new no-carb carb.

Well done Iona thats great when you haven't tracked!

Welcome Helen :o

I might have accidentally eaten part cooked/part raw prawns earlier, which could be a possible weight loss strategy but might be bad news as have hospital appointment in the morning.

Have excelled myself activity wise today, shred 4, walking pedometer says 4 and pilates class tonight 5, 13 in total so I'm having 2, yes TWO, G&Ts!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/03/2011 08:29

im pissed off, put on a lb, and was within my weekies (just)

i know i cant eat all 49 and lose weight, but ww says you can and it pisses me off that others can and i cant :(

its false advertising ShockConfused Angry

IHeartIona · 18/03/2011 08:32

Poor you Blondes, can you blame your metabolism, TOTM or anything? Maybe you'll see your loss next week. I am going to try using just a few weeklies and see what happens this week

NoWayNoHow · 18/03/2011 08:35

Poor blondes, I'm with you, I think it's false advertising! Don't say you can eat them if you can't eat them! Angry

What about activity points? Do you do any activity, and do you track the points? Maybe stop tracking them if you do? Also, how far off your target weight are you? Intuitively, I always think that the more weight you lose, and the closer you get to where you want to be, the less forgiving the PP system can be. No rhyme nor reason to me thinking this, just seems logical?

JoJoBaldwin · 18/03/2011 08:56

Sympathies blondes. I wonder if it's down to WHEN you eat your weeklies? Like if you have a blow-out on wi day then just eat your dailies the rest of the week that gives you chance to lose again. I dunno, it's quite mysterious sometimes.

Welcome Helen. A few of us don't go to meetings so it is possible to motivate yourself and use this thread for support.

WW does the ProPoints system now, so if you decide to buy books/points calculator off ebay etc then make sure they are propoints and not the old points plan.

Another option is to join ww online to get you started with the info you need (like how many points you should be on per day - minimum is 29 plus 49 weeklies you can use at any time in the week).

If you are happy posting up your weight and height someone here may be able to tell you how many points a day you should be on.

If you have a wii fit with balance board that can be a good start on the exercise in the safety of your own home.

You can do it!

wizzler · 18/03/2011 09:30

Chins up Blondes.. I can't eat all my weeklies and lose either. Just remember how well you have done so far, and get back on the tracker. You know what you have to do to lose weight, and if it was easy then everyone would be a twig! Take Woofa for a walk, eat an apple and cling to the fact that it may have just been water retention on wi day!

ClaireDeLoon · 18/03/2011 09:53

Blondes commiserations :( what does your leader say about the weeklies?

helenthemadex · 18/03/2011 10:10

thank you for your welcome and advice, I think I will try ww, join online and come here for support

I cant get the ww food here, I usually have a delivery from uk supermarkets about once every 6-8 weeks guess IM going to have to get super organised

DuplicitousBitch · 18/03/2011 10:16

hello - not been on for a while as was too moany and not really helping thread.

blondes - i have found from the start you can't really eat the weeklies and lose if you are within a couple of stone of target.

despite all my moaning i have been steadily losing (lets not talk about the 3lb i put on over my birthday weekend)

hoping to break the stone barrier on monday

hmc · 18/03/2011 10:17

Oh Blondes, am genuinely Sad for you because I know you are committed to the diet and keep a close track on it.

It is strange that some people can eat their 49 and others can't - it divided my weightwatchers class on Wednesday. Leader very categorical that the dailies plus the 49 are a calorie deficit and you should lose weight even when eating all weeklies, whereas around half of the members present were protesting otherwise. As you know I am in the annoying other half who can eat my weeklies Blush - I am still at BMI 28 however so around 1.5-2 stones still to go

You don't have a great deal to lose do you?... Noway has a point - the nearer you get to goal the slower the weight loss. Also, I know you do exercise but how much resistance training do you do with handweights? - building up the biceps and triceps a little and increasing lean muscle mass raises resting metabolism so might help (although I know most of us are concerned that we don't look to muscly)...

Helenthemadex - join WW online and post here regularly and you will be well on your way. Invest in a few more exercise DVDs and do them - they really do work, I can recommend a few if you like

CDL - I trust no ill effects after dodgy prawns?

hmc · 18/03/2011 10:22

Meant to say androbbob - glad you popped in... we were worried!

strandednomore · 18/03/2011 10:24

nowaynohow and blondes thank you for your explanations. I would go back to a WW meeting but tbh at the moment I just don't have enough to lose to pay the money to join and learn the new system. Luckily I know a lot of the old points and have all my info from previous weight losses (including loads of good recipes) so will probably just stick with that for now.

I would be intererested to try the new system if I do need to lose a bit more in the future though - for those people who have done the old points way as well as the new one, which seems more successful? Do you get to eat more this way? I don't find the old system too much of a struggle - for me it's mostly a case of eating from our WW recipe book and not snacking (and certainly saying no to all biscuits etc when I am out).

LoopyLa · 18/03/2011 11:07

MILLIES COOKIES!!!! Blush from shouting

Morning gorgeous people - now that I have your attention Wink, please can anyone advise on how many points a millie's cookie (big & small) might be?

PS - hope the c-word "cookie" doesn't offend Hmm

bigTillyMint · 18/03/2011 11:08

BlondesSad

My gut feeling was that too, though I haven't checked through my trackers to verify that.

I do lots of exercise, but don't track it as I have always done exercise and it's only worth pp's if it is extra IYSWIM.

And I think it definitely gets harder as you get close to goal. But I also found that having a week "off" and gaining a couple of pounds then going back to it did give me a bit of a kick-start again.

I'd now like to lose a couple of pounds as we are off on hol again in 3 weeks and I am bound to put on at least a couple of pounds in 12 daysSad

TimeToStartACHEEKYDiet · 18/03/2011 11:37

This weekend is going to be a twat :(

hmc · 18/03/2011 11:42

TimeToStartACHEEKYDiet · 18/03/2011 11:58
