2011 Paul McKenna P3 - the march towards skinny jeans continues

Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

Sounds yum!

shrinkingnora · 14/04/2011 09:14

I just googled them - it says 'butteries are named after their high lard content' which made me Grin

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 14/04/2011 09:28

Ohhh I love rowies! (NE Scottish lass here!). My DH toasts them slightly, and adds more butter & jam! Ha ha!

I did another weigh in - another 8lbs off. So in less than 2 months, I have lost 1st 12lbs. I am chuffed to bits! I was surprised actually, as I had a major wobble 2 weeks ago and ate very badly for about a week.

JuicyOlive · 14/04/2011 10:18

Hi all and welcome to the newbies. GreenToes - there are quite a few non parents on MN (including some trying to conceive) - nobody objects unless you are a hairy trucker!

Re the counting - I think I tend to get further than most people - I usually get to about 220, sometimes even 200. I try to focus on the counting and let the words sort of wash over me. Then when it gets to the "Imagine yourself when you're slim" bit, I typically imagine for about a minute and fall asleep.

nora - I've been trying to do the same thing for breakfast during term time. Or just have a small bit of breakfast and take a snack out with me just in case. I do find it easier to Paul during the school holidays as my work is more flexible and there isn't the routine of school runs etc. I've just had breakfast now!

Glaikit - you are doing SO brilliantly. Slightly Envy but really pleased for you.

I am now 9 pounds lighter than I was on New Year's Day. Not as amazing as some results but a step in the right direction. I'm sure the results would be much better if I could give up the Wine too. Blush But most importantly, I feel more relaxed around food.

P.S. I'd never heard of rowies either.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 14/04/2011 10:18

Not sure if anyone here would be interested, but I have started a Facebook group for my FB pauling buddies - please join if you want to :)

here

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 14/04/2011 10:19

If that link didnt work, just search for "paul can make us thin" on the FB search bar x

CelestialstarlightsPassion · 14/04/2011 10:55

Howtolook I had a look at your FB page. What a great idea. you could well reach the masses with this Grin

I think I may have made a step in the right direction. Had cheese on toast for breakfast. I only managed half before feeling completely satisfied and happy to stop. Also realised that the cheese didn't taste that good anyway eaten slowly and mindfully. Also given that I'm on day 1 of my menstrual cycle I haven't been binging and craving like I normally do. The day before and for the first couple of days of my cycle I'm usually ravenous, stuffing everything from chocolate to crisps to biscuits (anything I can find really) into my mouth. I haven't experienced any of it this time round [Thank you Paul emoticon]

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 14/04/2011 11:03

Ohhh well done Celestial! That is a major break through :) I found so many foods in my first few weeks, that didnt taste good when you chew them slowly! I thought I loved chips, garlic bread and crisps. I dont now that I have to eat them conciously Grin!!

MissVerinder · 14/04/2011 11:18

Anybody else feel like they're constantly picking at stuff through the day at the moment?
Also, I've been following all your tips, and have so far succeeded in not drinking diet coke at work. Not what I was wanting, but a good step forwards. Will hopefully have time to work on some pauling tonight, so I'm going to do the fingersqueeze.
I am also going to weigh myself today. I'm 2 weeks in on Saturday, but there's no way I'll get out to Boots then (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it) so I'll post back here later. Great to hear about your losses glaikit and Nora

MissVerinder · 14/04/2011 12:36

2lb off! Yeah!
Considering I got the same results from starving myself on a 12oo cal diet, I'm really pleased with that.

GreenToes · 14/04/2011 13:39

Phew I'll stop worrying about the counting then. I normally fall asleep anyway but it does seem to be going in. My book arrived yesterday and I've read a few chapters, I'll try and finish it this evening. Yesterday I bought a Bueno and then only ate half, and very slowly, so that's definitely progress! And no, I'm not a hairy trucker! I'm a 20 year old student :)

onesandwichshort · 14/04/2011 13:44

Well, it is starting to work for me. Have no idea what I weigh (I really should have weighed at the start, but we don't have scales...) but I have just tightened my belt an extra notch which is very pleasing. That must be an inch off. Hurrah for that. I don't know why it's working now and wasn't before, but it does show that, as you've all been saying, gentle perseverance does the trick. And you lot, of course.

JuicyOlive - I'm about the same as you at the counting, I get to the bit about imagining myself thin and then forget to count. Sometimes I start again later on if I get distracted and find myself thinking about something else.

JuicyOlive · 14/04/2011 14:36

Just about to take the kids to the cinema. Popcorn could be a problem!

jaggythistle · 14/04/2011 15:37

nooo. I'll have to search out some butteries now, not had one in years.

this thread is a bit fast moving for me, but even having it in my threads I'm on is a handy reminder. it seems very nice and friendly, helpful and supportive here. :)

have listened to the cd once since chatting about it, must get it on more often.

i have been eating more mindfully though and definitely not snacking so much when not actually hungry.

flippin need to though as I've had to admit how much weight has actually crept back on. :( nearer to a stone than half a stone! i don't own scales but my colleague and i were playing on the giant industrial ones at work. Grin

that'll be why my trousers were getting a bit tight...

rookiemater · 14/04/2011 15:41

I think popcorn could be one of those things that is fairly foul if chewed mindfully. Plus the stuff in the cinemas is stale that they get in bags. ( forget this if you have already had some)

Well done howtolookgood thats a brilliant weightloss and Juicyolive coming off slowly is no bad thing at all, thats about a pound a week which is really good going, particularly as you are not starving or denying yourself in the process.

CelestialstarlightsPassion · 14/04/2011 16:49

onesandwich That's brilliant. When did you start Pauling? I can't wait till all my clothes feel looser. Like you I don't own a set of scales so i'm relying on how well my clothes fit as a guage.

I'm slipping into the feeling fat and miserable phase again though. This is the biggest I've ever been and also I think because all of my spring/summer clothes from last year are all now too small for me. I don't have any lighter clothes that fit me at all and just feel so fat Sad. Been pauling for almost 3 weeks now and haven't seen any difference yet. I thought in my first few days I had lost some weight but I think it was probably water i'd lost which has all now returned! So disheartened. But like I mentioned in an earlier post this is the first time I haven't been ravenous during my time of the month. So i've got to take some good out of that Smile and try to keep positive. I'm doing the mirror exercises but it's so hard to feel good about myself when I look so horrible Sad

Sorry for rant. I don't mean to be negative. I shall put it dowm to PMT. Better that than stuffing my face I suppose Smile

BellaCullen · 14/04/2011 17:27

HowToLookGoodGlaikit a big whooohoo for your weight loss. Thanks for setting up fb group my initials are JK and have lost 5lbs in 3 weeks Smile.Which is good considering I had a bad week last week and a bit before definitely to do with myself weighing myself and then only losing 1lb in first week and then kids and friends stressing me out. This week has been much better so far as much less stress going on and kids on holiday so no school runs in morning, yay.

CelestialstarlightsPassion this is the place to rant and its good to write it all down,we seem to have similar experiences with struggling a bit.I still enjoy unhealthy food and not craving the healthy too much yet, hope it will come soon as Paul says in his CD the body will start to crave the healthy food.Baked some bread and bread rolls today and for lunch really wanted a jam sandwich so had one and enjoyed it.Then had a magnum mini for snack a while ago.Hoping Ill want those grapes soon.Grin

Regarding CD I manage to count down to 250 and then imagine myself slimmer, did try and continue counting but never get past that bit. Also notice new things he says everytime, will try and listen to secrets of thin people later.

DandyLioness got interrupted by ds2 while listening to cd too he was supposed to be aslepp but woke and then bf while I was trying to continue listening didnt really work though.I do think that am the only one the CD wont work on too.But have had a galaxy bar in cupboard all week and only eaten a piece when felt like it so cd must be working as could have eaten whole bar in 5 mins flat before.
Also been doing my housework more since started as got more energy,so big plus.

Hello to everyone else I missed.Better go now as ds2 screaming on the floor wanting some attention.xx

whomovedmychocolate · 14/04/2011 18:48

Evening all. I just saw there is a FB group. Have popped a request to join over - my initials RH and a grumpy looking photo on my webcam for my profile. But hey at least I have cheekbones for it now! Wink

OP posts:
SolosEggSpoonentiallyShrinking · 14/04/2011 19:28

I've requested to join too...my initials are WG, but that's not my real initials...Grin

emmie31 · 14/04/2011 19:37

Hi Everyone, I'm still on track despite hardly ever posting but I do read all comments to keep me motivated... I love this positive thread and the support on here is amazing. Have no idea if I've lost any weight as I've not weighed myself (trying to kick the scales habit) My husband say's I'm looking smaller and my work trousers are def a bit baggy so fingers crossed. Keep up the good work everyone and that's a great idea re the face book page! I love to put a slim picture of myself on facebook one day ... I'm a serial camera dodger at the moment!

mycatoscar · 14/04/2011 20:05

oooh, i have requested to join the FB group too, my profile pic has my cat in it.

JuicyOlive · 14/04/2011 20:13

Nooo - don't all bugger off to Facebook and leave me. I like the anonymity of MN!

rookiemater · 14/04/2011 20:13

I have asked to join too please, on my fb I'm a pumpkin.

Just been out to dinner, think I was reasonably Paul-ish although a few bites of onion ring made it in after I was full. Strangely I find it easier when I am out to leave food, maybe because I haven't had to make it myself.

JuicyOlive · 14/04/2011 20:13

And I very rarely log on to FB - I just don't get it really [old gimmer emoticon]

TheChewyToffeeMum · 14/04/2011 20:24

I'll stay here JuicyOlive! I avoid FB as I don't like being "poked".
