2011 Paul McKenna P3 - the march towards skinny jeans continues

Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

I feel more like I have had a gradual overall change. The first time I did this it did really click but now I feel like I am sorting stuff out on a much deeper level and although the weightloss is currently gradual it is permanent.

BsshBossh · 13/04/2011 10:26

Aargh, yesterday I did not eat when I was hungry and though I didn't feel stuffed at all I certainly felt full all day. I overindulged on the grapes - can you imagine it!?! They taste so good but I kept nibbing them all day long. I put it down to time of the month. Today is another day!

shrinkingnora · 13/04/2011 10:29

Cast your mind back to other diets and I bet you that you wouldn't have been overeating grapes. Seriously, you binged on grapes! And you were enjoying them! Good work.

CelestialstarlightsPassion · 13/04/2011 10:44

Morning everyone.

I have a question. I often don't feel hungry until late morning or midday and because we don't eat until we are hungry is it ok then to skip breakfast?

Thanks Smile

MissVerinder · 13/04/2011 10:47

ha ha! BsshBossh I did that the other day with grapes! They were delicious.
I am quite conscious of the fact that I feel soooo hungry at the moment, and want to eat all the time, so I've picked up some extra fruit this morning to eat at work. Now, I have chosen fruit because I do actually want it (shockhorror) and I am thinking I could do with some juicy stuff to stop me being dehydrated due to lack of coke (I've only drunk 330ml in 12 hours. Usually I'd be on the wrong end of a 2l bottle by now Blush). It's lovely to know that if I feel hungry later and I really want it I can nip to the shop and get some chocolate.
I'm going to do the tapping today for the coke cravings as well. I did the total aversion thing for Morrisons Blueberry Whoopie pies, and was so good at it, all I need to do is squeeze those fingers together and I'm boaking!
Listened to the CD last night in bed, and noticed some bits i hadn't 'heard' before. maybe it's my brain working through stuff.
Dying to weigh myself- I feel thinner but I don't want to disappoint myself if I haven't lost anything. So I won't!
Hello everyone Brew

Hi

Just wondering if it would be okay for me to post a couple of questions about the Paul McKenna method on here? I've read through the thread and it seems like it's working for lots of you which is great :)

I'm not a mum at all so really shouldn't be on Mumsnet, but I signed up for a bit of advice a while ago and then there's so much great infortmation on here I just pop on occasionally if I need to know something about cooking/cleaning/anything else and can always find what I need. Anyway I would totally understand if you'd rather I didn't post on here seeing as I don't really belong on this forum at all! :)

BsshBossh · 13/04/2011 11:11

GreenToes fire away (and welcome) Grin.

I overindulged on grapes because they tasted much better than a Snickers bar would have but that's still a lot of (natural) sugar and I was definitely not waiting until I was hungry in order to eat them and I was eating them beyond feeling satisfied so so so I still need to go argh!

But I know, grapes. I mean, come on. I am definitely a Paul girl, aren't I!!!

ObiWanKenobi · 13/04/2011 11:43

Caved in and weighed myself this morning. Actually weighed myself twice. Before and after breastfeeding. According to the scales I lost 3lbs by feeding my almost six month old. Clearly complete rubbish. But feeling good and sticking to the four rules so trying to concentrate on that (and not make too much of the fact both weigh-ins showed a loss - especially as I'm just on day three)...

GreenToes · 13/04/2011 11:45

Hi BsshBossh thanks for the welcome :)

I had two questions but one was answered by the video further up in the thread. My other one is:

I have the iPhone app so I don't know it's different to the CD but when he says to start counting backwards, are you meant to carry on counting through the whole thing or stop at some point? I always seem to end up either forgetting to count or being so focused on counting that I don't listen to anything he says

I've been using the app since Friday, and ordered the book and CD but they haven't arrived yet. I don't know how much I weigh or how much weight I wish to lose, I just have a bit of a belly that I want to get rid of. I haven't really noticed any real change yet apart from that I am feeling much more comfortable with myself and knowing that I will change in time, also that I'm not constantly stressing about "good" and "bad" foods, just enjoying the things I choose and not over-eating.

My tummy has just started rumbling so I think I'm finally ready for breakfast so I shall go see what I fancy!

CelestialstarlightsPassion · 13/04/2011 12:57

Hi GreenToes good question. I've always wondered about the counting too Smile Hopefully someone will be along to answer soon.

BsshBossh I long for the day when grapes taste better than a snickers bar. I know Paul says that we will start to opt for natural more healthy foods, but i'm still waiting for that to happen Blush I am in awe of you Smile

BsshBossh · 13/04/2011 13:36

CelestialstarlightsPassion, but when you eat a Snickers bar really slowly doesn't it taste overbearingly sweet? I love eating Snickers (etc) when I can wolf it down, but eating one slllooooowwwwly? Yeuch! Grapes taste so much better.

SolosEggSpoonentiallyShrinking · 13/04/2011 14:55

He says it doesn't matter if you lose count or forget, but just to continue when you remember and that his chatting away goes into your mind anyway. I find that when I count, my (closed) eyes go over to the left on each number! and that I can still hear what he's saying...until I fall asleep anyway!

CelestialstarlightsPassion · 13/04/2011 16:28

BsshBossh No it still tastes great! When I eat them I still eat them very slowly and mindfully, count each chew and savour the texture and flavour...and I still love them Blush Maybe though I need to slow my chewing down even further. I'll try eating more slowly than i'm doing already to see if that makes a difference Smile

Solo If we don't lose your place though and continue counting backwards does that mean we aren't in trance or will we still benefit from the hypnosis anyway?

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 13/04/2011 16:34

Its fine to stay counting and its fine to let your mind wander and its fine to fall asleep. Despite any of those, the message still goes in deep! I have only ever once counting all the way to the end of teh CD, 99% of teh time I fall asleep or go into a trance before I get to 250 lol

CheerfulYank · 13/04/2011 18:49

I barely count at all, I just listen. :)

Dandy I don't think we are meant to count all the way down but I think if we did it wouldn't matter. I usually get to about 276 and then drift off but I've often wondered if the hypnosis would still work if we did continue to count. I'm also finding it difficult but sticking with it because I know it will all click together eventually and also I suffer from stress too so I enjoy the half hour of total relaxation everyday. So even if my diet doesn't change at least it gives me some down time Grin

Dandy I ordered the 5CDs through ebay for about £10.00. I don't think they are necessary but getting so bored with the one CD I fancied a change.
Why don't you go right back to basics and make a commitment to listen to the CD every day for a fortnight, then see how you are getting on.

I sympathise though it is hard to find the half hour. I got up super early to see if the Boden sale was any cop. So might go back to bed now and listen to the lovely Paul.

shrinkingnora · 14/04/2011 07:23

Dandy - which rule are you struggling with the most? I find that I can usually do two out of four relatively easily but the days when I am doing three or four out of four are much rarer. But it is gradually improving. When I do four out of four I lose a lot of weight very quickly. So you think that would make it easier, no? Hmm

ObiWanKenobi · 14/04/2011 07:58

Dandy - I found recently re-reading the book really helped. Has focused me more than the cd alone did. One thing I'm counting on is that Paul says you don't have to believe this will work, just do it and it will.

TheChewyToffeeMum · 14/04/2011 07:59

Yeugh - just ate a rowie after my toast - I so didn't need that!

Nevermind.

shrinkingnora · 14/04/2011 08:42

Just another quick thought - I have found it really hard to make time to eat breakfast as there is always so much to do in the morning. Recently I have been eating it while I am doing stuff but each time I take a mouthful, I stop completely and close my eyes and really savour it, then go back to rushing around for a few minutes and then take another mouthful and really savour it eg bite of toast, make kids breakfast, bite of toast, start packed lunches, bite of toast etc I'm sure you get the picture. This morning it took me half an hour to eat half a piece of toast - amazing. And I am completely satisfied.

shrinkingnora · 14/04/2011 08:43

PS - what on earth is a 'rowie'???

TheChewyToffeeMum · 14/04/2011 09:10

Ha Ha - a rowie is a NE Scotland speciality otherwise known as a buttery or an Aberdeen roll. It is basically a salty, flat version of a croissant. Not health food but rather yummy.
