Hi All
Ive just joined SW again today as I felt that I need to get control of my weight.

I stood on the scales a it flashed up 17st 4lb. All I could say to the consultant was my bathroon scales are well out Blush

I cannot believe that I let myself go that much...

So the all the hard work starts now Grin

I am starting tomorrow, weighed myself today and nearly died. It's so cold and miserable here too.

Am Envy of a barbeque.

sleepylittlebunnies · 20/02/2011 22:37

I would love to join you all, I joined slimming world on wednesday and am going to the classes.

I have 5 stones to lose to be the weight I was only 5 years ago, I was quite pleased though as my home scales put me 10 lbs heavier!

I never used to have trouble with losing weight it was keeping it off that was the problem but over the last year I seem to have lost my will power and have not been able to stick at a diet for more than a few weeks. I am doing slimming world as I hate weighing and measuring and want to cook one meal for my family.

Start weight 15 st 6lbs and size 18-20
Target weight 10 stone 7lbs (was size 12 at this weight).

eden263 · 21/02/2011 02:32

Hi, can I join as well, please, though don't be surprised if I fall off the wagon almost immediately as I'm the world's worst dieter. I have some bingeing issues so I'm great all day then am overcome at night with stupid compulsions to gorge on food I neither want nor enjoy whilst eating Confused

I was 15st about 8 years ago, got down to 12st after birth of DD in 2008 (it just fell off whilst pregnant, I always lose weight whilst pregnant, only time I can, & that's without even trying!! Mad body I have!) but like the weak-willed fool I am, it's crept back on now and I'm back up at around 13st 10lb atm. I know some of you would probably be quite happy to weigh that, but it's too much for me. I'd like to get down to about 10 st 7 lb in an ideal world, but even 11st 7lb would be great :)

I'm worried that my scales weight me light too as the ones we had at my old work weighed me half a stone heavier :(

Maybe having to 'confess' you you all each week will motivate me? I can't go to groups as I'm a single mum. Also exercise is difficult as I have ME. But I must do something, I owe it to my DD to look after myself better.

So, tomorrow...

Lucyintheskywithdiazepam · 21/02/2011 10:32

Right, ladies. Monday has dawned and D(iet) Day for those who are starting as of today. Best of luck to everyone

eden, I'm a binger too. And a secret eater. But I have still managed to lose weight. The only thing that I find helps is keeping myself distracted and busy with something else at the danger times...even if it's just chatting on t'internet or browsing websites for clothes I'll never buy. And don't worry about whether your scales are accurate or the ones in work, just be sure to weigh yourself on the same ones every week. I tried the scales in Boots one day and they weighed me half a stone heavier than my own ones. They also measured me at a whole inch shorter than my real height so I decided they were wrong and never went back near them Wink

DaffadownDilly · 21/02/2011 11:05

OK, start weight 15st 7lb. I am 5ft8.

I would be happy with 12 stone.

Good luck to everyone.... Smile

rosieposey · 21/02/2011 12:12

Well I weighed this morning and was 15 stone 11 but 12 days ago i was 16.4 so happy with that - but will make today my official weigh in.

I would like to be 10.7 as I need to be in a healthy bmi for my health (type 2 diabetes) it seems like ages away but it will take as long as it takes I suppose. Good luck everyone :)

Eden don't worry about falling off the wagon sometimes as it happens to us all and if you make changes for the better eating-wise you will lose weight anyway.

eden263 · 21/02/2011 12:31

Thanks for the support/sympathy/positive words ladies :)

Not quite as bad as I thought, 13st 8lb this morning, so here goes. Doing SW(ish) though I no longer have the books or anything so will be eating the same 2 week 'rota' of stuff I wrote out the last time, lol!

Been shopping & stocked up on lots of veg and fruit this morning...

Good luck everyone

eden263 · 21/02/2011 12:33

Lucy, lol @ lettuce leaf emoticon! Grin

DaffadownDilly · 21/02/2011 12:50

I have dusted off the cross trainer. Funny how they gather so many things on them when not used.

I think the main thing is not letting one falling off the wagon incident, effect the rest of the week. I always had a tendency to just carry on eating what I wanted (or drinking) instead of brushing myself off and starting again immediately.

LisaD1 · 21/02/2011 13:12

Hi Ladies,

Can I join you please?

Started my new regime today, am doing slim fast for this week only (just to get me started) and will then do a snesible calorie control diet, mix of ww and calorie counting for me, am also heading to the gym tonight (first time in about 8 months!).

I am VERY embarressed to list my starting weight at 19 stone 3lb Blush. I have signed up for the race for life in June and my first goal is to be under 17stone by then.

teaandcrumpets · 21/02/2011 13:39

I'm in! Got a total of 8st to lost. Have lost 1 st 2.5 lbs on WW since 5 January. I will NEVER be this big again. :)

teaandcrumpets · 21/02/2011 13:40

Lisa, my starting weight was 19st 6.5 lbs. I am 5 foot 10, so my goal weight is 11.5 st. It's going to be a long haul, but I feel really committed.

Lucyintheskywithdiazepam · 21/02/2011 13:43

DaffaDownDilly, very good point about not abandoning the wagon altogether when you have a little slip. I think that's why I've been more successful this time round...I haven't used one lapse as an excuse to go off the rails totally. Start each day afresh...you won't have done enough damage in one day to derail your whole week if you get right back on it.

LisaD, welcome. Don't be embarrassed...I was WAY heavier than that when I started. And well done for signing up for the Race For Life...that's a huge incentive to get going. Have you run before or are you starting from scratch?

Gym tonight for me too tonight for a spot of Zumba...DP keeps expecting that I'll come home like Shakira one of these days; but he'll have to make do with Shakira's slightly older, dumpier sister for now Grin

LisaD1 · 21/02/2011 14:00

Thanks Lucy.

I did the race for life a few years ago, when I weighed much less. we lost my lovely Nan last August and I made her a promise that I would lose weight, get fit, and raise some cash to fight the disease that took her from us. So plenty of incentives.

Lucyintheskywithdiazepam · 21/02/2011 14:24

Sorry to hear about your Nan Sad but you're doing a fantastic thing in her memory!

I started running a little while back and quite enjoyed it, then I knackered my knee (in a gin and unfeasibly high heels related injury Blush...although if my Personal Trainer asks, there was no gin involved, ok?). Looking forward to getting on the treadmill again when my knee has fully recovered)

ChilliKnickers · 21/02/2011 15:05

Love ZUMBA.... Even if cant tell my left from my right. I thought I could dance ... maybe the 4 glasses of wine use to help with my co-odination.

Welcome to all the new recruits

juneybean · 21/02/2011 15:34

Blah I'm the same as you Lisa, and it's completely my fighting weight never been this big before!

eden263 · 21/02/2011 16:05

Hello Lisa & Crumpets

Lisa, as Lucy said, please don't be embarrassed. It happens, the important thing is you're trying to do something about it :) I always think even if it's a big struggle, every lb lost is an achievement because it's not another lb on :)

Feeling v hungry this afternoon though, can't get warm at all which isn't helping. Grr. My problem when I'm dieting is that because I've made a conscious decision to just eat x, x and x (ie meal plans) to be good, I'm almost panicking come tea time that this is it, no more food today after this. Does that sound silly? Sounds a bit unhinged to me Confused

DaffadownDilly · 21/02/2011 20:51

Hi ladies Smile

Lisa,I can only nod at what everyone else has said and just to add that a big step is acknowledging that you want to do something.

I'm hungry too eden, am dosed with cold and tea just hasn't hit it. It's not silly at all, it's knowing that that is all you can have until breakfast.

I am determined though, it is actually really helpful doing it alongside other people. I didn't do my cross trainer though Sad.

What's Zumba? Am Grin @ gin and heels incident, have had loads of vodka incidents!

dontstopmenow · 21/02/2011 21:13

Hello ladies. Can I join you? I can't weigh tonight as scales have flat batteries. I do know however that I have at LEAST 5 stone to loose. I just fail at every attempt to diet at the moment and would love a bit of a support group. I will be getting scales fixed tomorrow so we shall see how bad it is then.

Lucyintheskywithdiazepam · 21/02/2011 21:52

Hi dontstopmenow and welcome aboard.

Daffa don't worry to much about not removing the pile of shite from cross trainer (can you tell that mine is so badly buried under crap that I've forgotten what it looks like Grin). You've got a cold so you should take it a bit easy until you're better.

Zumba is kind of like aerobics but based on latin american dance styles. It's really hugh energy and a huge amount of fun. I am so not the co-ordinated type (I refer you to aforementioned gin/heels incident...not an isolated occurence for me) but for the duration of the class, I can convince myself that I can dance...as long as I can't see myself in the mirrored wall of the dance studio Blush

Lucyintheskywithdiazepam · 21/02/2011 21:53

Strike-out fail!! Blush Who do you have to sleep with round here to get an edit button?

ChilliKnickers · 22/02/2011 17:34

Hows everybodys day be going so far.

To keep myself motivated I have just suck a picture of a pig in a wedding dress on my fridge ... (amazing what you can google)

Only if it last for a day its gonna help.Grin

OP posts:
DaffadownDilly · 22/02/2011 20:21

Grin @ pig. Good plan, maybe I need something similar?

Not too bad today, but had a slice of apple tart. I will try and make up for it tomorrow. I can't smell or taste anything, so it wasn't even worth it!

DaffadownDilly · 22/02/2011 20:23

I like the sound of Zumba, I would say I would look for a DVD, but I have yet to take the shred one out of it's wrapper! Big bone of contention between me and DH Smile
