vnmum fab photos, v inspirational!

hhy another tactic might be to watch 'who does what' together on BBC2, Thurs at 7pm. It shows the actual division of household tasks compared to what people think they do, DH watched with me and was a changed man (for a couple of days at leastGrin)

Breakfasts - branflakes and ss milk (5 PPs), fried egg on toast with mushrooms - using frilight (4/5PPs, depending on bread used); pancake with fruit and muller light yog (4PPs using ss milk for pancake)

Lunches - sushi small selection (about 6PPs), M&S Tomato and Basil soup ready to eat (2PPs), fish (tinned tuna/salmon) salad with bread roll (5/6PPs)

vnmum · 15/02/2011 16:39

Thanks everyone for the compliments. When i found the before photo i actually couldn't believe how big i was. When i was that weight i didn't think i was that big IYKWIM. Friends have said "oh you never looked big" but i think they were just being polite and that i was in denial. Having looked at the photo, i will definately not let myself put the weight back on. I showed them to a friend today who didn't know me at my biggest and she couldn't believe it, she said i look like a completely different person now.

Willaby chorizo lasagne is 7pp

bigTillyMint · 15/02/2011 16:40

vnmum you look great - hair and bodySmile

HHY I feel your pain. That's why I only work 3 days a week. I would happily work more if we could have a more even share of the chores / DC, but he is out at 7.15, back between 6 and 7 mostly, though sometimes 9 or 10 so he can't realistically do much before/after-school care. If amyone knows how to make a DH do more, please tell me!

vnmum · 15/02/2011 16:41

that is if the recipe is divided by 4, or might be 8pp

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/02/2011 17:15

wow, is that all (lasagne) i may make it then, though was higher then that - but guess does depend how many portions/what size you have

how many pp per recipe may be easier

iheart right have just used your link and the lowest/yummies sounding meal is prob riviolli di capra - but eog says 19 and yet link says 15 - so yet again different :( Angry

Thanks vnmum I googles weight watchers and chorizo lasagne and voilà! I made it with semi skimmed milk which was 28pp and the portion is a quarter. I have a massage booked for tonight so going to munch that as soon as I get in and I'll have 7 pp left for after!

sparkle101 · 15/02/2011 17:20

vnmum can I ask what size you were before and after?

vnmum · 15/02/2011 17:25

sparkle I was a size 16/18 before (although was squeezing into 16s and not wanting to buy 18s) and am a small 12 now (12 jeans loose but 10s still too small)

shinyblackgrape · 15/02/2011 17:32

VNMUM - you look amazing! How long did it take you to lose the weight? (frantically hoping you will say a week or perhaps two at most [GRIN]!).

Also, the chorizo lasagne sounds lovely. Is the recipe on the WW site?

Thank you for the rest of the welcomes and also Blondes for the info re the trifle. Have texted to DP to advise that I need an iphone for the WW app alone! I'm sure if I advise as to how extra activity points can be gained he will be more than happy!

Looplyla - yes, please do shorten my name. I think that spelling will be OK as there will be no confusion (not that there would be!) with the Shiney one

HHY - that is super annoying. Hope you get itsorted out tonight. I have been very busy last week and haven't done all the hundred and one things that I do around the house which DP is not aware of. He advised me last night that the house looked a bit messy and we will be tidying up at the weekend! Point proven! Although, unknown to DP, I am actually otherwise engaged at the weekend having a hotstone massage and wont be available for tidying duties!

vnmum · 15/02/2011 17:37

shiney I joined WW at beginning of August 2009 (the before photo) then moved house and didn't go to meetings and tried to do it myself at home so lost and gained the same 7lbs over about 9 months then joined back at WW group about 7lbs lighter than i was when i left last time to move house. That was sept 2010. I reached goal last week.

shinyblackgrape · 15/02/2011 17:47

That is fantastic and really inspiring as I have 7 months to lose 3.5 (or 3) stone and really hope I can do it.

Meetings may be the way ahead for me.....

Do you find propoints better than the "old" style?

Also, as long as you tracked, did you find you could eat/drink what you wanted or is there anything to avoid?

Bit worried that bananas are free as I could eat about three of them in one go and they are quite high in cals!

Sorry for all the questions Grin

Littlefish · 15/02/2011 18:04

Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to weigh I go.....

LoopyLa · 15/02/2011 18:12

Nice one blondes with your activity points-your SOH is the same as mine & it's all for a good cause!!!

LoopyLa · 15/02/2011 18:15

Also good luck to all those weighing in tonight!

I have a question-how are people tracking their milk consumption? I only have some on my cereal or coffee/tea so didn't know how to include it, if I need to? I always have semi skimmed.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/02/2011 18:25

loopy i track milk on cereal but not in tea - always skim

shineygrape hehe, it was for a VERY good cause!!

im a bit Angry and :(

worked out pp for vd meal last night - i had for pudding toffee fudge glory which was basically vanilla ice cream with toffee sauce and small fudge peices (and gawd they were small)and eog says it was 19pp

'blonde faints'

i thought it was semi healthy :(

i should have checked out puddings before i went :(

i could of had

banoffee pie 11
chocolate fudge cake 10
cheesecake 11
lemon tart 13

how the hell can i eat chholate cake instead of ice cream and be less pp? Hmm

shineygrape - bananas may well be free but you are right to be cautious; most WW leaders when quizzed on free fruit will volunteer the advice that you should have no more than say 5 portions of fruit a day and make it sensible portions (so a handful or two of grapes - not a punnet, one banana not three, an apple not several, a handful of strawberries not a teetering mound etc) hth?

Iheart - no I don't do Shred everyday, I would be too stiff if I did that. I alternate it with other workouts

Alternative suggestions for breakfast - there is a WW banana and strawberry smoothie using about 200g strawberries (might be more), a banana and a small individual carton of natural yog which works out at one or two pps (sorry to be so unspecific)

I tend to favour as an alternative to my staple of soft boiled egg and toast - slices of tinned peach with about 100g Onken peach biopot (fancy yoghurt I like - available from most supermarkets) and 30g muesli which comes to circa 5 pp from memory (haven't had it for a couple of weeks)

Have just spent some serious money on Amazon on a dawn simulator alarm clock and light box!

hmc · 15/02/2011 18:53

Loopyla - I have do black tea and coffee (always have)

hmc · 15/02/2011 18:58

You could pour out quarter of a pint into a measuring jug at start of day Loopy and see how much is left by end of day?

bigTillyMint · 15/02/2011 19:07

Blondes that is soooo annoying - I would have thought the ice cream was lowest too. And lemon tart.

Just shows how wrong you can be.

vnmum · 15/02/2011 19:19

Loopyla I count 1/2 pint of milk for breakfast and use that for cereal and brews (i use skim milk)

Shiney I do find that if i track I can eat more or less what i wanted but some things i do avoid as very high in points (full fat dessert type things and some takeaways/junk food) although with planning anything can be fitted into this diet because of the 49 weekly points.
I like PP better than the old plan because i can have treats without having to save or make up points so it then makes it easier to stay on track as you don't think you've blown it.

I have to say that my tastes have changed since doing WW and the takeaways/junk i used to eat just don't have the appeal anymore.

Apart from weeks where i know i have gone over my points (and sts or gained) I have always lost something each week with WW. It does work.

For a time span comparison, I lost my first stone and a half in 4 months (that included about 3 weeks when i gained) and I have lost my last stone and a half in 4 and half months (that includes christmas)

JoJoBaldwin · 15/02/2011 19:27

Hello everyone, I'm new to mumsnet and WW!

Had 2 weigh-ins so far. The first was not good, just half a pound off because I got distracted by drinkiepoos. The second week I ate all my dailys and about 20 of my weeklies and lost 6 pounds!

This week's thursday weigh-in probably won't be great as seriously took eye off the ball all weekend, just leaving me three days for damage limitation. So lots of walks and wii today and yesterday.

I started at 13 stone 3, and am now 12 stone 11. Would be very happy to get in the 10s again by summer - taking daughter to Butlins and want to join in the swimming pool fun without feeling self-conscious.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/02/2011 19:46

jojo welcome

Tilly I know :(

I've worked out that I will be just over my Weekies with toms meal and that's having o PP soup all day Tom so fearing for a gain again on fri

vnmum - you look fabulous! Great hair cut - it really suits you. Smile

Well, much to my surprise, I've lost 2lbs this week. That takes me to my 2.5 stone mini target Grin.

My next target is to lose 1.5 lbs to get down into the next stone bracket.

Then, lose 6.5 lbs to get me to my 3stone loss.

Shiny - I've lost my 2.5stone since the beginning of October, BUT, I've still got 6 stone to lose, so I appreciate that I've lost it relatively quickly and consistently. In fact, I've had one week where I stayed the same, and one week when I put on half a pound, but apart from that I've lost every week.

I track absolutely everything, and weigh everything too. It's the only way I can re-educate myself about portion control.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/02/2011 20:24

Well done littlefish

Agree portion size is the way to go

Though still :( at how little pasta I get for 6pp
