blondes I would happy to look after your bubbly to keep it out of temptations way !

Have had a lovely day in a spa in New Forest today . Ran fast on treadmill first for hqlf an hour then lazed all day have come home and scoffed Singapore spicy rice noodles chocolate with almOnds (a gift from df here staying for w/e) and 2 large gls wine. Mindless munching whilst watching dreadful news on japan . Suddenly a few pounds doesn't seem such a big deal.

But will be back on the straight n narrow tomorrow x

Willabywallaby · 12/03/2011 07:25

Did you go to Careys Manor Froot?

I'm trying to book it for my SIL and me in April. Have been before but not impressed with the rooms, Senspa lovely.

JoJoBaldwin · 12/03/2011 08:02

Morning all. Grey and cold day and can't get the energy to go out... maybe this afternoon.

Did 36 points yesterday so a chunk of my weeklies, but did 2 x 30 min walks up and down hills pushing buggy so hopefully that will help.

And said "No" to beer again. Though am getting irritated even more at OH's consumption the more I am getting mine under control. But I'm not going to be able to stop him am I? The realisation has to come from him. Am actually hoping for a non-serious but painful drinking-related illness to strike and give him a wake-up call. Is that bad? Shock

Willabywallaby · 12/03/2011 08:41

Off spinning at 9.30am, I had 3 lots of gin last night thanks to Granny.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/03/2011 09:17

noway that is so true - woofa is a wimp and hates getting wet paws, so if raining i literally have to push him out of the door to pee, and he pisses on doorstep Hmm then scampers back in

hmc is a HUGE will hunt out a pic

froot hands off my bubbly, but spa sounds nice and awful about japan :(

jojo how much does dh drink? but well done for staying off the beer :)

willa bad granny Grin but well done for going to gym

im off to body combat - ate 6 slices of pizza last night totalling 36pp Blush and bang half of my weekies gone :(

blondes sure I read that the pizza express pizza from waitrose is 18pp per pizza, I must check and see if that's correct - anyone got the shopping guide?

OH is not typical alky, doesn't have to drink every day and doesn't get horrible and abusive (though can be overly argumentative at times). Last night he drank 6 cans of stella, did the same on wednesday and the same last friday. So 3 times in 7 days, which is average for him. We would both however often get a bottle of vodka (litre) on a friday night and polish that off with him then going to the shop later for some beers "to wind down with". Then the next day feel rubbish so would often drink again in the evening just to take the edge off.

So no wonder I find it difficult to lose weight! I do like getting a bit lashed, I must admit, but the negatives are far outweighing the positives, and for me I haven't actually had all that great a time the last few times I've drunk.

Am hoping that now he has lost his drinking partner he will start to wake up a bit, but fear that he will enjoy his own company getting drunk and coming to bed at 5am (which has been the case the last few weeks!)

Other than this big problem he is a great dad and husband - really does a lot with DD, holds down a job etc. Just don't want alcohol related illness to strike him down (his mother was an alcoholic and died at 50 so now he is in his 40s I am aware something serious could happen). But because his mother was a "serious" drinker he doesn't see the similarities.

hmc · 12/03/2011 10:48

JoJo - must be a worry about your dh. How many units per week? You must start nagging him before he makes himself ill. Can you persuade him to go to GPs for a diagnostic liver function test to whether there is any unseen damage so far. I used to drink far too much - 5 bottles of wine a week and that is where most of my weight gain came from. Luckily I am down to a more sedate 1.5 bottles per week (still not great since mostly consumed at weekend so a bit 'bingey' but a step in right direction)

Froot - either Carey's Manor or Chewton Glen I guess? Oh, I would so love a good Spa day but most of my friends favour the cheaper Longleat Centreparcs twilight deal - which is pleasant but not quite as sumptuous as Chewton Glen

Blondes - woofa is gorgeous. He has same sort of coloring as my girl (I can't call her a 'bitch' Blush) but shorter hair, squarer jaw etc. You can tell he is a bit softie from his eyes and his expression - ahhh

Sparkle - am hoping to hear after your team talk from the others that you are back on the straight and narrow. It would be such a waste to undo all the good work you've done so far. Draw a line under last few days and start afresh!

hmc · 12/03/2011 10:52

x-posts jojo....

JoJoBaldwin · 12/03/2011 11:22

hmc not sure how many units. I did count every drink for a month once and it worked out at over 60 per week. I purposefully chose that particular month because there were no social occasions to blame it on.

I do nag him - he does accept that he drinks too much but still partly in denial. He points out things have improved in other areas - eg smoking, diet, drugs (which we did a lot of back in the day). When I've said no to joining him for a drink lately and he asks why not I say it's because it would be handy for DD to have at least one parent who will be alive to see her through to adulthood.

I have mentioned a liver test before...

Just going to keep at it myself and set a good example. Someone with a drink problem isn't going to respond to nagging, the desire to change has to come from them.

Am really hoping I can get a lot fitter/healthier and the change will make him think ....

wizzler · 12/03/2011 13:27

Sparkle.. are you keeping your tracker? I find that I snack more when I am keeping a mental note, but when I actually write something down I am less likely to cheat. I know what you mean though, I am feeling slothful today. Have been so good this week, and yet have put on 2 lbs since yesterday .. how is that even possible. (Draws curtains and hides in house in case Blondes and woofa come round to sort me out for weighing too often. )

JoJo.He must know himself that he drinks too much. Suggest that if he is really not dependent to give it up for a belated lent.

Had ryvita, philly and Kiwi for lunch ( then a WW choccy bar), so I can make room for the roast chicken dinner DH is conjuring up for tonight

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/03/2011 13:44

jojo think pizza express do low fat pizzas now in shops, but i had pizza hut one last night :( really shouldnt have eaten it but i did, but have all week to get it off

18cans of stella sounds a lot, but guess over a week it isnt - he sounds more of a binge drinker, esp getting through a bottle of vodka in a day, then needing hair of the dog the next day - hope he cuts down - tbh he sounds like a functioning alcoholic (ive had dealings with these and if you want to chat privatly then mess me) if can hold down a job etc - be careful x

hmc glad you approve of woofa :) he is a sweetie, but a rest pest at times - and when he looks at me with his ickle brown eyes and ginger eyebrows i melt Blush have always said to mb if her kids had brown eyes they would get away with murder- all 3 have blue and blue does nothing for me Grin

wizzler i shall make woofa sit on you,and hes a lump stop weighing every day, you know feel down as have gained 2 lbs, which btw will prob be off on actual wi day!!

OP posts:
LoopyLa · 13/03/2011 11:26

Feeling a bit despondent :(

I've lost 6 lbs in 4 weeks which is ok I know (1lb lost again last week) but don't know if the scales are totally accurate (going to jump on the WII later to double check) but wonder how I DON'T lose any weight on the week that I was good & upped my exercise and yet, on a bad week, (2 meals out, too much naughty-ness, must have beaten Blondes 115 points!) I lose a 1lb??! The unpredictability of it all really bugs me Angry

Does that make sense to anyone? I should probably just get over it but can't help feeling a little bit annoyed...any advice?

JoJoBaldwin · 13/03/2011 14:38

Thanks for the advice everyone, will take it on board - sorry for going off topic slightly!

Things weren't good points-wise yesterday as some cousins we hadn't seen for ages turned up, then whisked us off to their place for dinner and drinks. Lovely social evening so don't mind too much. Will have to be extra good tomorrow and do loads of exercise to see if I can still have respectable weigh-in on my official tuesday WI day.

Think I may change my WI day to friday now I am doing it at home. Have 2 clear weeks now to the party I want to look nice for - lets see if I can drop a dress size!

LoopyLa my friend is only losing at the rate of a pound a week despite working out every day - but her clothes are feeling loose and she can see a difference in inches, so I'm sure it must have something to do with muscle mass.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/03/2011 15:11

loopy a lb a week is a good weight loss , im the same but more would be nice, esp when you read people on ww are losing 3lbs every week 'sighs'

jojo i find friday wi good, though obv means if been bad like i was yesterday then i now have 0 weekies :(

had a yummy pizza express leggy pizza for 16pp and will have quorn tonight
