I don't know what the crap I just made, but it wasn't a pancake!!!

Time to raid the fridge and see what else I can find for dinner!

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/03/2011 19:29

abgirl well done for giving up choc and crisps for lent - I can't do that :(

But going to try and grow my nails again - I grow them and they look lovely then I bite them :(

People look at my wedding pics and say lovely false nails and I say they were my own :)

No one believes :(

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/03/2011 19:36

Go and buy ready made :)

I'm going to eat my chicken and salad - made by dh

Then watch tbl

no doubt with mr b moaning that I'm watching fat programmes again - sky+ something the other day about fat obese kids :(

To me that's neglect :(

Plus does anyone rem Georgia ? She was brittains fattest teenager

Was 33 stone and 15yrs :(

She went to fat camp and lost 15stone to get to 15ish stone and looked brill

A year later she has put on 25 stone Shock :( and now weighs 40+ stone at 17yrs

NoWayNoHow · 08/03/2011 19:50

Do you know, blondes, that I was JUST thinking the other day about putting something on AIBU about obese children, something along the lines of "If there's no medical cause for a child being obese, should the parents be done for neglect?"

See, great minds think alike!

WOuld love to pop out and grab something else for dinner, but DH is out, and I'm home alone with DS (who is SUPER poorly - ear and chest infection, temp 40.8C!!)

Poor thing...

So, kitchen cupboard scraps it is!

abgirl · 08/03/2011 20:03

Um do agree that parents should be held responsible for obese children, but think education and support is the best way forwards rather than doing them for neglect (at least initially). Also think we should be educating our young people to look after themselves, to me a teenager of 17 yo should be taking responsbility for herself - that said it has taken my years to realise that what I put in my mouth does effect my outwards appearance and I still have times when I forget it!

Have really enjoyed nutella on my pancake (just the one) and am now off chocolate, think I will make a countdown chart to easter sundayGrin. Have also done half an hour of just dance and now watching the book programs from BBC2 last Sat which is the sort of thing I love but DH hates - luckily he is out at rugby training!

JoJoBaldwin · 08/03/2011 20:10

NoWay hope DS gets better soon, it's such a worry when they're ill. Mine has horrid cold and cough too.

Blondes that's terrible about Georgia, poor kid!

It's so difficult to know what to think about the parents of obese kids isn't it? My first reaction is that they are neglectful idiots, but then I suppose they think they are showing love in giving their kids "nice" things to eat. My sis-in-law feeds her kids utter crap. Whenever i spend a few days there I feel ill. I once put on a stone in 10 days there! But somehow her children are beanpoles, so the neglect isn't obvious. But when they get older and their metabolisms slow down they are going to have such problems with their eating I think.

Anyway, I've ignored pancake day as hubby isn't home from work till 10 and daughter is too young to know any better. So that's at least one temptation out of the way!

Had storecupboard dinner tonight of terrible ingredients really. Pasta with a bisto cheese sauce with a squirt of ketchup in it lol. Things are tight financially this month (20 quid to last the next 12 days - sigh). So eating silly stuff like this when hubby isn't home so I can conserve what's in the freezer.

Had 25 points so far today, so will be able to have a snack of something later. Yippee! Grin

androbbob · 08/03/2011 20:39

Another tosser here!

Made some for kids and DH complained about his, so I told him to put his money where his mouth is and do his own. So he did and he made it too thick, then it wouldnt toss properly ('he' forgot to oil the pan - naughty robo!) and then only ate half of it as it was too thick and uncooked in the middle - Ha not so clever now then are we DH, hmm..

The only problem was there was then only a miniscule amount of batter mix left for me so I had the skinniest smallest pancake - but it was delicious!

wizzler · 08/03/2011 20:58

Phew.. just caught up on the thred.. it moves very quickly.

I lost 1 lb this week, which continues my sedate path to a thinner me. I feel so Envy when the leader at our class says " well done newbie, 9 lbs in three weeks"..

Well done Andro at your 2 stone award, and to Iheart, half a pound is good if you include choccy buttons and fish and chips! Best of luck with PT too. I gave up on DD until she was almost 3 and taught herself.. don't let it stress you out !

Jojo you should read the last 4 pages of this thread and see how your messages have transformed from when you were so down after your interview, to the more recent ones where you are all shiny and sparkly planning your exercise. You go girl ! ( and have you thought about asking for feedback from your interview .. might give you some pointers)

Froot and Big Tilly, great losses this week, also Loublou.

Sparkle.. your post made me Grin,

Noway, hope your DS is on the mend soon, poor little chap, its the worst thing in the world when they are sick, isnt it? . I thought your article was really good. 3.5 lbs in 4 weeks is steady progress!

HMC..I am like you. I have to remove all sweets from my reach or I will guzzle the lot. I dont drink much at all, but chocolate is my vice. I try to not have it in the house, last week when I goit back from WI I ate 2 Milky Way and they never even touched the sidesBlush!

Blondes, did the spirits move you ?

froot · 08/03/2011 21:52

bigtilly I carry a tiny small can of diet tonic or 2 in my handbag just in case the pub doesn't have slimline

jojo my sons favourite cheap meal is what he calls a noodle ommelette - cook a pack of chicken noodles (about 9 pence in Asda I think for the smartprice ones) and stir in 4 eggs (about 80pence) until cooked. Serves 2 and points are 18 so 9 pp per meal. He loves it but you wouldn't want to eat it every day!
Am wracked with guilt as got a few items of someone elses shopping in my Asda delivery tonight. If you pm me your address I will send them to you!!

hmc · 08/03/2011 23:01

Well done on the 1lb froot

"I don't know what the crap I just made, but it wasn't a pancake!!!" Noway that made me laugh out loud Grin

Did you enjoy Biggest Loser (USA) Blondes - I watch it too and get the same reaction from dh about watching programmes on obesity! So pleased the blue team won the weigh in this week. Find myself shouting out loud "Way to go!" and "Awesome" Blush at the telly

Right - not confident I've lost any weight this week and WI tomorrow, so am thinking desperate times call for desperate measures, so probably will do a steady jog on the treadmill (slowish - 5mph / 8kms) for 8 miles [12.87kms) tomorrow. I've never run further than 6 miles before and haven't done that for a while so it will be a challenge, but am thinking I'm up for it. Will let you know how I get on (probably will do it first thing in the morning after school drop off)

TheLadyEvenstar · 08/03/2011 23:16

I gained 2lb this week - Sad disheartening after losing 5lb last week.

bigTillyMint · 09/03/2011 06:53

froot like your style! I actually moved ond vodka and diet coke the other night in desperationGrin

hmc Go Girl! I did a 40min run on the treadmill on Saturday - varying between 9-10km/hr for about 30min and going down to 8 by the end.And 10min on the rower. I couldn't go on Sunday, but on Monday my legs were really knackered - had to force myself to do a much more gentle workoutGrin

TLE what did you do differently this week to last week? Perhaps you didn't track everything as well?

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/03/2011 07:30

noway great minds, and i would have on that thread Grin neglect and abuse are not just physical :(

there is no need for fat kids, it is poor education on behalf of the parents, most fat kids have fat parents, tho not all the time obviously

poor ds,hope he is better soon

abgirl true, so do they get sent to healthy eating/cooking lessons? rem jamie oliver did something like that in a town, and many didnt know what some vegetables were :(

jojo pasta with cheese sauce and ketchup sounds yummmy :) hope purse feels heavier soon

androb a small one doesnt hurt, its only eggs/flour and milk

wizzler well done on lb loss, and no they bloody didnt :( no one wanted to talk to me - im very sceptical about it, and people did lead her a bit, but she also got other things right, but then again who is to say that they were not placed in the audience?

froot what freebies did you get? and not sure about a noodle omelette but if you like it then 9pp isnt bad

hmc yes enjoyed tbl, but thought blue team lost and one went home - lance the one i cant stand, but he has done well, when you see before/after pics

lady oh no :( why do you think this is? were you ill last week, so the 5lbs wasnt a true weigh in? 'grasps straws' did you eat all your 49, as i cant seem to do that and lose :(

OP posts:
JoJoBaldwin · 09/03/2011 08:39

lady oh bad luck, it is demoralising isn't it? Just got to take it on the chin and have a think about what may have caused it. Might just be your body over-adjusting after a big loss? I lost 6.5 pounds one week then STS for the following 2.

wizzler thanks for the encouragement - think i was just aware that feeling depressed and useless would only make me eat so had to just nip it in the bud. I'm still VERY irritated about such a huge gain, but it's a learning experience I suppose.

froot noodle omelette sounds weird! Wish my daughter would eat egg but she has an aversion to it. Well done on the loss!

teaandcrumpets · 09/03/2011 08:51

"to me a teenager of 17 yo should be taking responsbility for herself"

Yes...but our relationships with food are very complicated. And teenage years are so tough anyway, that bad habits can become quickly reinforced without the right kind of support form parents...it's hard to sit in judgement on the parents of big kids, though recently a friend told me about being in Gregg's bakers and a mum said to her overweight son: "Do you want a pasty?" He said, "No, I'm not hungry." She said, "Of course you are. What do you want?" He said, "I don't want anything." So she bought him a pasty AND a doughnut.

My daughter is very tall and willowy - and she loves her food. Thank god she has my height and her dad's metabolism. His whole family can eat what they like and not worry about it too much. It's amazing. Having said that, there were never crisps, cakes etc around the house when she was little. If she wanted a snack, there was fruit. We had puddings on Sunday, yoghurt the rest of the week if you wanted something for afters. That probably sounds quite harsh, but I was determined I wasn't going to pass my unhealthy habits on to her. I didn't want to be the fat mum with the fat child. That always makes me quite sad.

Anyway...weigh-in this morning. Minus 2. That's 1st 8.5 lbs since the 5th of January. :)

Hope all is going well for the rest of you!!

hmc · 09/03/2011 09:20

That's right blondes- got my blues and blacks muddled, ... meant that I am glad team underdog; i.e. the ladies team triumphed; having lost for preceding two weeks.

Right - got my gym stuff on...off for my major run now ......(tilly your weekend session was not for wimps!)

NoWayNoHow · 09/03/2011 09:49

Morning all!

Congrats wizzler and teaandcrumpets on loss, and commiserations lady - would it be worth going back over your tracker for the last week and seeing what you did differently from the week before?

DS much better this morning, antibiotics have kicked in nicely. Still not himself, but certainly not the sleepy, shaky boiling child of yesterday. It was a scary day, I tell ya!

I know he's feeling better cos he's (a) had his first tantrum in about 4 days, and (b) asked for "Old McDonalds" for lunch Blush. He's eaten so poorly over the last few days, I might actually let him have it as a treat - chicken salad Deli sandwich for me then!

Good luck to everyone with a WI today!

HighHeidYin · 09/03/2011 10:00

Mooooooorning all!

Yes, I'm back - have you missed me???

Sorry I went awol. The last few weeks have been completely chaotic and I didnt even get near the computer let alone post anything.

dh was away for a week on business 2 weeks ago and I had to run the business, look after the house etc and drive the 4dds here there and everywhere at every minute of the day. Was completely frazzled. I completely take my hat off to single parents.

Then last week it was my mum and dad's golden anniversary! We had a huge party to organise and to say it was stressful is an understatement. Plus if you remember had taken it upon myself to create a sculpture of the family (me, my parents and my siblings) to give as a present to mum and dad. Had to do so much research on it as had never worked with clay before. But it turned out really well, didn't fall apart in the oven and the acrylic paints looked great on it. You can see the pictures on my profile. (Although they are a little small so you can't see much of the detail.)

Couldn't even get to my ww class as had to drive the kids back and forward to their dance class that evening - usually dh does it. So as a result, no tracking went on, no exercise took place and I just ate whatever was to hand. Finally got to class last night and have put a lb on. Not too bad considering!

So back to it with a vengeance now - back to tracking religiously and am dancing tonight. Will get to the gym friday night and today will start shred again.

Well done to all the losers, commiserations to all the putter oners and sts'ers and welcome to any newbies. Off to read what I have missed now.

It's good to be home Smile

HighHeidYin · 09/03/2011 10:11

Have made my profile public so you can actually see the sculpture... that would help eh?

ClaireDeLoon · 09/03/2011 10:12

Congrats to wizzler and teaandcrumpets on losses. Lady you're still 3lbs down overall, I know it's disheartening but don't be discouraged from keeping on track this week.

Good luck to hmc and any others with a weigh in today.

hmc what channel is biggest loser (USA) on?

I'm impressed with all of you who run - was it very hard to get started?

I lost 3lbs this morning so a big thanks to all who gave me tips last week when I was down about only losing a lb a week. All I have done differently is to have cereal for brekkie before I leave the house/as soon as I get up on weekends and to drink a bit more water, I also haven't recorded my exercise points so couldn't use them at all but have used all my weeklies.

ClaireDeLoon · 09/03/2011 10:14

highHeidYin the sculpture is great! Commiserations on a lb on but given you didn't track at all that's not too bad!

bigTillyMint · 09/03/2011 11:23

Heidi love the sculpture - penguins are my favouriteSmile

Well done Claire

I don't really run, I do a mix of stuff in the gym - usually no more than 20mins on the treadmill, and never outsideBlush

hmc · 09/03/2011 11:53

Well done on your 3lbs CDL - excellent result. Biggest Loser USA is on SkyLivingit on Tuesday evenings at 9pm, much more fun than the British version imo.

Great to see you back HHY - and that model of your family is absolutely brilliant, bet they were chuffed to bits!

Sorry about the 2lb gain lady - I am sure it can't be 'real' since to gain 2lbs of body fat you would have to have eaten 7,000 calories more than your body required for maintenance weight...am confident that it will sort itself out on the scales next week and you'll lose 3 or 4lbs

Have completed my 8 miles on the treadmill - and it hurt. Literally - kept getting ankle twinges. It burnt disappointingly few calories as these things always do - 962 to be precise! CDL I used to do proper running out on the roads with a friend but had to stop because of the pounding effect which was jolting and giving me back problems....treadmill is more cushioned and I seem to be able to tolerate that

Can't believe it is lunch time and I haven't cleared the breakfast pots yet Blush

Also really nervous today because I have to take ds to football later, and last week I told off one of the dad's for his "foolish parking". I wonder if I can go in disguise?

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/03/2011 12:40

Noway glad ds is on the mend

hhy sounds like you had fun and woe at sculpture :) a lb gain is easily lost

Claire wow at 3lbs well done

I'm a friends for lunch and having tuna and sweetcorn jacket and salad and then an alpen bar for a snack :)

Babysitting tonight so will eat what the kids do - possibly spag Bol and got some pickled onion monster munch so I shouldn't eat their sweetie tin Grin
