Androbob, Well done on your loss.. Am hoping my shred will arrive tomorrow so we can compare notes.
MrsH,Welcome! Once you get your head around the new Points system it is fine. Snack on fruit which is Zero points. Stay away from carbs in general and jacket potatoes in restaurants in particular. Butternut Squash will be your new best friend!

ClaireDeLoon · 24/02/2011 07:34

Well done on losses androbob and benben!

HHY sorry it was a small gain but if you know it's TOTM related that's a comfort. Jazz class sounds fun, how long have you been doing it?

Welcome MrsH!

Good luck to CRBear and anyone else weighing in today!!

LoopyLa · 24/02/2011 08:02

Morning all! How are we doing?

I'm ever so slightly confoosed Confused

There seems to be 2 conflicting values for Batchelors slim a soup Chicken & Mushroom (0 & 2 ppts) and 2 conflicting values for Hovis soft White thick bread (2 & 3 ppts) With a system where everything counts, how do I what is correct?! Any help/wisdom Propoint experts?

NorthernComfort · 24/02/2011 08:20

Morning,

bad day yesterday, I suspect I've eaten all my extra points for the week already in crumpets and green and black's (haven't actually totted it all up yet) Blush Damn kids and rainy half term.

So I guess I have to spend the next 5 days within the 29 daily limit to get anywhere. sigh Not sure how do-able that is...

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2011 10:12

MORNING!!!!!

LittleFriendSusan · 24/02/2011 10:12

Morning all :)

Welcome to all the newcomers and well done to all losers!!!

LooplyLa guess the only way to be sure re PP is to enter the NV on to the tracker yourself and see. Hope you get the new job - 'tis crap when you're stuck in a job you don't enjoy...

ClairedeLooon - not got an iphone so just guessing but doesn't the app sync with the online tracker? So maybe if you set your online profile to track weeklies before activity points it will update the iphone app too? Under Plan Manager / Settings / Plan Preferences and then it's the swapping activity PP values bit at the bottom. If you'v already tried that then no help, sorry!!! Grin

benben sorry about the new fella but sure you can do better than that! (though s'pose at least he told you about the other woman Hmm)

hmc good luck for half term! Ours was last week, I survived, but mainly because I only had 2 days off work... made sure we went out and did stuff... 5inthebed - I too sat through film at cinema whilst they were munching popcorn and sweets and didn't even snaffle one! Well done us!

Sparkle - Good to hear you sounding more positive! You can do it... I was feeling very demotivated after only losing 1/2lb in my 3rd week and then STS, but I kept at it and lost more this week... (not too optimistic for next WI though as my TOTM now and going out with the girls Sat night too)

Shoulders - would you rate the cookbook then? I keep thinking about buying it, have a flick through and then decide against it as I have FAR too many cookbooks... but do struggle for inspiration sometimes so might splash out! Am waiting to win the raffle at meeting so I can put that towards it (tight, me??).

(I am also a bit too fond of the old exclamation mark, I notice...)

CRBear hope your WI went OK after all the increased effort!!!

Wizzler I was Grin at you having to go through pancake day all over again!

Dolly my average loss is 1.9/week so not huge amounts, but I figure so long as it stays off that's fine! I've used at least 1/2 my weeklies every week, usually more, so not expecting massive losses, but I don't do starvation!!

HHY - sorry about the gain, sure it's down to TOTM though, 'tis always a killer for me.

Blondes - am LOL at you having to go on the O point soup again - hope you enjoyed your time with your friend Smile. How is DH?

androbob - BNS is very hard - I find it easier to peel with a swivel peeler and just go over each bit a couple of times... cut myself too often when peeling with a knife!! I have a big heavy chef's knife I only ever use for chopping BNS and swede - does the job!

I too worship the humble BNS Grin - love the stuff and stocked up at Aldi a few weeks back when they were 59p! Only got one left now though... I make soup for lunch at work every day and it usually involves BNS and something else. Though I've had spicy celeriac soup last few days for a change (yum!). We love BNS chunks roasted with red onion & chilli flakes stirred through pasta with baby spinach, add creme fraiche & parmesan if points allow!

Quick Q for those who make BNS chips - do they crisp up like potato chips?? I tried them once and they were a bit soggy / greasy, so have stuck with roasted chunks / wedges since, but maybe I did something wrong?

froot · 24/02/2011 10:21

Bns is bloody hard ! But worth the effort to chop it - tho I am tempted by the waitrose ready prepared stuff as long as you get enough in a bag .

mrsh the new points system certainly takes a bit of getting used to but if you throw yourself into it wholeheartedly you will have forgotten the old one in a couple of weeks . I did old ww 12 years ago lost 3 St and stayed with those principles for 6 years then 1.5 ish crept back on over 5 years because I stopped going to weigh ins completely (will never do that again!!) back to the old ww and lost it in2009 on old stylee ww so it was really ingrained in my brain. But now I think new ww much easier though did have initial mind boggling like you . Really new ww is more protein less carbs in fact I generally have no White carbs with protein and vice versa . So if I have pasta or rice or jacket pot it's with a veggie sauce , and if I have protein I make a veggie White carb substitue eg bns mash instead of pots, chipped or grated hot (not cooked tho - need texture not mush) courgette instead of rice. Sometimes mixed with a tablesp of rice if I have the points. That seems to work .

My other food 'saviours' are turkey bacon , venison, especially tesco venison sausages, John west tuna light lunches (delicious and filling mixed with half a cucumber chopped - tho some on this thread have compared with cat food I think yumptious) ww yogs, sugar free jelly and hard boiled eggs . Not all at once obviously ! Grin

I am back to ww as I managed to put a shedload of weight on in December tho I have lost it now I want to get a bit lower to have a few pounds leeway for holidays as I am unable to control myself in a holiday situation!!!!

And wine is the devils drink avoid at all costs !! Gin & slimline ok and magners light has been recommended- I finally managed to get some in tesco having searched the land so I am looking forward to trying it tomorrow night !

Hope this helps x

froot · 24/02/2011 10:27

Oh and Philly light esp sweet chilli is great for allsorts - makes a nice sauce melted with a bit of skimmed milk great on fish or chicken .

My bns chips not too soggy - I used frylight spray and cooked at 180 .

Also doesn't matter if you don't peel properly the skin is edible and soft once cooked - weird. To make mash I cut in half longways and cook like that - scoop out flesh once cooked .

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2011 10:44

i cheat buy ready peeled and cut bns - i just cant be arsed to peel and chop - i used to and decided my time is worth more than that Grin

OP posts:
ClaireDeLoon · 24/02/2011 10:46

Thanks for those tips froot venison sausages sound good! You saying avoid wine - I love my wine and have been splurging on a weekend using my weeklies - why is wine worse than say cider?

HighHeidYin · 24/02/2011 11:35

Morning!!! Am back to usual happy self Smile

Feeling MUCH better. Sore throat and cough improving. Totm but pmt gone Grin

androb am putting slight gain down to totm. Lost plenty of cm so must be that! Well done on your lo9ss! Grin

OOOOH MY FAVE SONG IS ON THE RADIO!!! Groove Is In the Heart! Must go boogie round the office!

Right back. That'll be my exercise for today then Grin

Where was I? Good advice there froot

Okay best get back to work now... have a good day all!

HighHeidYin · 24/02/2011 11:36

Ooooh blondes! Didn't see you sneaking in there! Grin

export · 24/02/2011 11:44

Hello All!!

Well two days of not drinking ( I know not much but I weigh in on a Tuesday so it was the 'start' of my week) and I did a sneeky peek and have already lost 2lb. I needed that boost to prove to myself it was working and now I have the determination to continue on and be good especially over the weekend which is always the time I go awol.

TBH having a glass of two of wine in the evening is habit more than anything so hopefully once I break the habit I shall be fine.

Now can I ask what everyone favourite WW meals are, I dont buy ready meals as I dont like processed food and also it can be quite pricey buying them but am slowly running out of inspiration for dinner times, any ideas?

sparkle101 · 24/02/2011 11:52

Just a quick one, will pop back in later for proper catch up. Anyone know how many points in cinema sweet popcorn?

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 24/02/2011 12:53

Am very sorry, still haven't managed to catch up with what's going on, things very hectic. Been for weigh in this morning and lost 2.5lbs, greatly aided by D&V yesterday I think ! Will have to be careful this doesn't bite me in the backside and effect next week's loss too much.

My copy of the Shred has arrived but am too much of a wuss to take it out of the packet.

HighHeidYin · 24/02/2011 12:55

sparkle Sainsburys cinema style is 3 for 20g.

That seems to be about average.

HighHeidYin · 24/02/2011 12:57

Well done wynken ! Not so good about d&v though...

Go on! Get that shred out of its packet! Havent done mine for days mind you Blush Have been working so much finding it impossible to find the time to do it atm.

CRbear · 24/02/2011 13:02

0.5 on for me, don't ever remember being this happy about weight gain before! I was expecting so much worse and I can blast this off this week :D remotivated by the fresh 49 pts! I want tonlose 4lbs this week to get my first half stone and it might be unrealistic but I'm going to do it!

froot · 24/02/2011 13:05

Dunno why wine is so bad but do know several of us have had the same discovery - I have never really drunk cider but now have found magners light only 2 pp a bottle am going to give it a whirl this weekend . I do wonder if wine makes me hold water whereas gin doesn't so it will be intersti g to see if cider does what wine does . Weigh in on Monday ! I should say I do still drink some wine - maybe a couple of glasses a week - sometimes I will have half a glass with a meal because I do love it ! But I used to drink a glass or two a night and more at weekends - now I generally reach for the gin! My days off are thurs/fri and I usually work sats so I usually have a few drinks weds night and sat night . Am off this sat (yipppeeee) so have got a bonus night this week ! It's wine and nibbles at the neighbours tho so no avoiding the wine tomorrow but will try my hardest to stick to 2 glasses.....

Oh lordy I sound like a right alky but honest I'm not !!!!

NorthernComfort · 24/02/2011 14:25

Oh dear god. I've added it up and I'm in debt by 7 points. Just got really fed up with half term yesterday and ended up eating cheesy pasta and drinking half a bottle of wine. (And a fair bit of dark chocolate.) Hard not to feel despondent with 5 days to go (and two of them being at the weekend!)

sparkle101 · 24/02/2011 14:55

Afternoon everyone,

Shoulders that is excellent weight loss - reading what you said I am going to try and increase my exercise levels!

Loopyla fingers crossed for the job.

Welcome mrsharry I second what everone else says about the new pro points, I think it has helped me as I knew the other system inside out and could work out how to "cheat" it in a way which resulted in me putting quite a bit of weight back on! A change is as good as a rest they say!

Well done to benben wynken CRbear on your losses.

HHY Ah good news about TOTM (well as good news as it ever can be) and thanks for the popcorn figure, can I pretend I misread it and have 200g for 3pp? Blimey that's a lot, was saving all my weeklies for it though.

Andro happier, yes, back on and refocussed (and not hormonal!), the nice weather helps I am finding as I can go out for a walk with the pram. Still haven't started shred, will do soon though! and well done for the loss!

Northern don't panic! The important thing is you didn't bury your head in the sand and hoped it went away, you worked out your points so you know what you need to do! Can you do any more exercise before weigh in to get some activity points back? Plan, plan and plan what you are having for every meal until weigh in and point in advance and then stick to it. I know facing the weekend with no weeklies is crap but next weekend will be here before you know it and you can have some then! It's just a case of pulling it back in for a few days.

Well off to the cinema tomorrow and then cookery class (how on earth do you point that!) Saving all my weeklies for tomorrow so will hopefully be okay. Must remember to take my calculator out with me normally, bought a 40g paack of mini ritz crackers thinking they couldn't be too bad - 6pp Shock hmm DH will be having those then! Also worked out my roast from last week, a pork joint with crackling one of those ready to roast ones in the silver foil - 44pp in whole pack, and I had half Blush may be seeing why I put on now!

NoWayNoHow · 24/02/2011 14:55

Howdy all! Long time no forum-ise!

Sorry I'm not going to be able to read up on 10 days of posts (I think that would take me to next year's holiday on this fast-moving thread!).

Suffice to say a big congrats to all those who've lost, and a "keep going!" to those who've sts or put on.

I only landed the same morning as my WI would have been, so i thankfully have a full week to get back on track. Although, if I'm honest, it doesn't feel like I've put any weight on, probably because the food out there (Cape Town) is kinda conducive to healthy eating (lots of sushi/seafood/lean gamey meat) and I also spent 4 hours bouncing up and down like a lunatic at a U2 concert (Davina has nothing on the pain I was in for the next 3 days!). I guess time will tell about what the reality is!

It's hard, though, to get into the mindset of tracking again, and i'm struggling if I'm honest. It also feels like I've lost a little bit of motivation as, tbh, i was mainly trying to lose for the holiday, so kind of not certain what the point is any more? I'm now in healthy BMI range and am struggling to find a reason to carry on.

Help me, peeps, I need some backside kicking!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2011 15:16

JoJoBaldwin · 24/02/2011 15:47

Well done all the losers!

I messed up and drank vodka last night and have eaten rubbish today. So back on the case with a vengeance tomorrow.

Happy to report that my bns/mushroom/lentil and goats cheese bake is scrummy though. Had it for lunch again today!
