Hello NorthernComfort. I would probably feel dishertened too. But losing a pound a week is the way to KEEP IT OFF. I keep losing half a stone in a week and then putting it on again, which is clearly NOT the way to do it

export · 23/02/2011 10:05

Hello All!!!

Sorry you all gave me a warm welcome and then I didnt come back!
Had an awful week last week due to some serious work problems, this obviously resulted in takeaways and numerous bottles glasses of wine.....and I STS!!! I dont feel too guilty as was very upset but I really need to get this sorted.

This has been happening for the last three weeks, I'm very good with my daily diet but I hit a bump in the road and end up ordering a takeaway/having wine but have stayed the same weight. So I am taking all of your advice and having a wine free few weeks, my logic is if im STS with it, I must be able to loose without.

Hope everyone is thinking thin thoughts Grin

ClaireDeLoon · 23/02/2011 10:11

Welcome NorthernComfort, I am disappointed at my rate of loss too, but then I think it doesn't matter, I'm losing weight and OK, it isn't instantaneous but I'm doing it and I'm sticking to it and it WILL work.

export sorry you had a rotten time at work but well done on STS when you know you've not been as good as you could. Fingers crossed you can lose next week!

I lost 1lb this week after my mini meltdown after a sneaky peek at home yesterday. Yesterday we had hospital appointment at the Royal Free and we wandered around Camden a bit before etc and my ww pedometer says that I did 7.8miles of walking (I normally do 4ish a day), I wonder if that helped?

ClaireDeLoon · 23/02/2011 10:14

Out of interest is anyone else using the iPhone app? It's free to install and free to use if you're an online/monthly pass member.

ZCompton · 23/02/2011 10:19

oooooh, I didn't know there was one. Can you use it on the ipod touch? Is it any good?

ClaireDeLoon · 23/02/2011 10:24

I love it. The only negative for me is that it uses up your exercise points before your weeklies, and I'd prefer it the other way round. But you can track your points, track your weight (gives you a graph!) and it syncs with the weightwatchers site so if you're tracking online you can use the app to work with it and they'll update each other (if that makes sense!).

I assume you can use on the touch as most things work on both?

ClaireDeLoon · 23/02/2011 10:26

linky yes it's available on the ipod touch and the ipad too!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 23/02/2011 10:34

Waiting for the chat to start at meeting. 3lb off this week! Really pleased! I've lost 19 lb since starting in the second week of Jan.

ShouldersBack - that's a great loss, well done!

Am experimenting with a bns, mushroom, cherry tomato and lentil bake for lunch (topped with goats cheese).

Roasting the veg in the oven now in frylight. Will combine with the lentils when done. Thinking of stirring in a triangle of laughing cow cheese with a little hot water so there's a bit of a sauce. Then top with 30g of goats cheese and pop under grill.

8 points in total and enough for me and hubby, so a 4 point lunch!

ClaireDeLoon · 23/02/2011 10:44

well done shoulders that's a great loss and well done blondes for a mammoth namecheck!

sparkle101 · 23/02/2011 11:23

blondes surely you must have earned bonus points for the huge post? Am sure I have seen it written somewhere Wink I promise I will get back on it, rather scared you live near me and might come round and kick my bum (or andro will later in the year!) and have to raise issue with you about creme eggs - yum yum yum!

Well done on your loss shoulders that's excellent weight loss, can I ask a question? (Well two) How much exercise do you do and do you use all your weeklies?

Jojo that sounds lovely, looking for new lunch recipes to try. Hmmm.

Welcome daydream that's a great consistent loss considering you don't have loads to lose, well done, slowly slowly catchy monkey (never said that before and not sure I will do again!)

HHY understand how you feel, can you see any reason in the tracker? Is it TOTM? Keep on it and it will come off and more next week

Welcome Zcompton and northerncomfort

clairedeloon 7 miles Shock well done you, brilliant stuff!

Well Jillian is out of the cellophane and in the DVD player, watched it yesterday from the sofa (this exercise lark is well easy!) looks achieveable if not very hard work, was going to get my dumbells today but it's horrible out there, will get them tomorrow and start at the weekend!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 23/02/2011 13:29

Sparkle - I am breastfeeding, so have a helper with my weight loss! I am not eating my weeklies regularly as I am finding I don't need them at the moment (a 13 week old prevents much eating out and I don't drink!) I am exercising about 3 times a week for 45 minutes, just restarted this last week. I am supposed to have an extra 14 points for bf but frankly if I ate all of those I'd be eating all day so am sticking to 29.

On phone so can't name check, will try and check in later. Good luck fellow WW.

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 23/02/2011 13:32

Oh, and do the shred without dumbbells tonight, either with no weights or use a couple of tins of beans. I did that last week and it was still a good workout.

CRbear · 23/02/2011 14:26

ZCompton the monthly pass comes with free access to e-source on which you can work out your daily points, I started a few days before my first meeting and it was fine- an extra boost even when I was already a little lighter at the first meeting!

clairedeloon I use the iphone app and don't think I could do this without it- it's my absolute saviour!

Went to step yesterday and it was cancelled- one of the most frustrating things in the world hey jojo- I went to the gym and ran, but I wasn't psyched up for it so couldn't get in the zone. Still 300 calories is 300 calories, stepped away or run off!

Blondes love the effort you put in to personally address everyone!

shoulders amazing weightloss, how inspirational!

Dreading weigh in tomorrow...been good since Sunday, but I fear it will be too little too late, and it doesn't help that my scales are completely different to the WI ones so my complicated (and fabricated) conversions make me panic more. Should banish the scales somewhere inaccessible!

Just had a turkey and ham subway, but they put cheese on it before I could say no! Frustrating because it's THE most tasteless way to waste points. 8 points for the sub, 1 for sweet onion sauce and anyone have any ideas re the cheese? I have pointed 2.

Last chance workout at 3:30 before WI tomorrow...it's going to be awful :(

LoopyLa · 23/02/2011 18:45

Holy (skinny) cow, it's so hard to keep up with you lot, lol!!!

Blondes that was an EPIC post, well done!!! And agree with CRbear, you should definitely earn extra points for that :)

Sorry for not name checking, we're such a big (though gorgeous looking obv) group now!

I've been keeping to myself a bit as I'm going through some rubbish stuff at work (had an interview last week) & not heard back yet. If I get the job, it's super interesting, good pay scale, etc. If I don't get it, then stuck in dull, dead end job with twatty, useless manager so lots riding on it. Sadly don't feel it went very well but was super proud of myself as I didn't comfort eat but kept within weeklies. Did however have both Chinese take out & made curry AND had monstrous bag of maltesers over the weekend Blush Then made myself walk into our local town, 4.5 miles down the road so a little redemption I guess ?!!

Anyway, 'nuff about me-how's the WI's going this week?

DaydreamDolly · 23/02/2011 19:18

Thanks blondes and thanks sparkle Grin
I use that phrase a little too often myself, usually when talking about weight loss! It does comfort me!
Went to the in laws today with DD, and was offered a french fancy [no comment] ate a quarter of it to be polite and gave the rest to DD. I am polishing my halo whilst having a Wine to celebrate Grin
CRBear hope you're pleasantly surprised at WI tonight
Loopy good luck with your job - the waiting is the worst bit. Mmmm Maltesers.....

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/02/2011 19:57

jojo meal sounds yummy

clairedeloon i try and mention everyone to give them encouragement:)

sparkle i shall kick your bony butt where ever you are Grin

crbear i would have asked for another one

loopyla hope you get the job

mrsharrycunningham · 23/02/2011 20:42

Hey! Can I join in to?

Bit of history. I am 5ft 6" and have always been someone who can put on weight very easily but struggles to lose it. At my lightest (when I was 28) I was 8st 12. At my heaviest (38) I was 12st 11. At 37 I had a stroke and decided to get fit and healthy but just got heavier. At 39 I am now 11st 13 and want to ideally get to 10st 7. I have done the "old" weightwatchers in the past and know it works and know what I'm doing with it. However, I think that makes me complacent because I don't really check or weigh anything. Am desperately trying to get my head around Pro-points but am struggling to come to terms with it - everything seems so high-pointed to me! Should I just stick with what I know? Does anyone have any words of encouragement about the new system?

benbenandme · 23/02/2011 20:44

Another pound off for me tonight, bringing me up to 11.5lbs in total so far Grin

Update on the new man ... well, the first date went really really well ... but he's since admitted he's already seeing someone else Hmm Never mind, plenty more where he came from Wink onwards and upwards!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 23/02/2011 21:08

mrsH, welcome. Change to the new system, much better, seems high pointed, but you get loads more points! I've done the old system before, and although it worked, I found that I lost resolve after 3 or 4 weeks as it was too restrictive. This system has the weekly point allowance to help with that.

Well done benben shame about the man. Hmm indeed.

blondes you are the queen of name checking - it is definitely a good motivator to know someone is reading about how I am doing, so thanks for the encouragement!

right, must get off the computer and do some knitting or DD1 will have outgrown the cardigan I am making!

ZCompton · 23/02/2011 21:17

Hello all, have done day one...seem to have eaten loads...hope this is goingto work! Have eaten a lot of fruit which seems to have no points [sceptical]

ZCompton · 23/02/2011 21:17

or even Hmm

HighHeidYin · 23/02/2011 21:40

Thanks for all your kind words everyone Smile

Turns out that totm has come early so that explains the 1/2lb on!! Silly me. Have been so miserable this week so should have guessed...

Congrats to the losers and hello to all the newbies Smile

Jazz class was tonight - great fun and FINALLY getting to grips with the routines! Was despairing that I would never remember them!

shoulders I tend to use rather too many !!!!! too Blush

dh is off to england on business for a week so I will be running the business on my own. Not looking forward to it as it is so busy atm. But will just have to cope - no choice really!

Will pop on tomorrow at some point hopefully.

androbbob · 23/02/2011 21:41

Evening all - will try to catch up......

HHY - comiserations on your minor gain - any ideas why or just one of those things? Pick yourself up and we will see a lovely loss next week Grin

welcome to ZCompton, northerncomfort, export (again!), mrsharry and anyone else I forgot!

Dont forget - a pound a week is over 4 stones in a year!

Claredeloon not using the app as no IPhone but if you dont put exercise points in then it will use your weeklies. Perhaps there is a way to set the way it uses your points so you can put weekly rather than activity ones? You could perhaps jsut track activity ones on paper and use if required. I would email WW to see if it can be changed.

Shoulders - well done you! Grin

sparkle - you seem happier today no? I have the Shred DVD and will start tomorrow - it is still in its wrapper!

CRBear - I so hate it when they cancel a class and you are all psyched up for it! The gym is a poor substitute.

loopyla - hope you get the job - keep us posted.

daydreamdolly - very restrained with the french fancy - polish your halo!

blondes - EPIC post but how are you doing my little chickadee?

benben - good loss shame about the man - plenty more hey with your new slimline figure!

Well to me - I am reporting a 1.5 loss this week - yeah! Still need that elusive pound to the stone due to a mini gain but hoping for that next week. Bought some BNS and made the roasted chips - silly question alert - is it supposted to be hard to cut or was it not quite ripe enough? It was harder than a potato to cut - more like a swede but tasted great!

Busy week ahead - DD birthday on Saturday so family here for birthdya lunch. They will be getting WW friendly food - loads of salad and fruit and I have a packet of WW cookie mix to make mini cookies! Did get mini sausages and quiche as I dont like them!

On for a 1.5 loss next week to get on track for Easter.
