Really pleased that Ive lost another 2lb this week so 1st 5lb since New Year !

Going out for an indian tonight though which Im both :) about and :( due to the points !

Have discovered butternut squash chips-with frylight and cooked in the oven which are lovely and 0pp

Good luck everyone

sparkle101 · 22/02/2011 17:00

well done mumto - that's amazing, enjoy the indian! What temp and for how long for the butternut squash chips?

mumto2andnomore · 22/02/2011 17:37

Thanks !

I just bung it in at about 200 for about 15 mins, I even leave the skin on, much less faff . Got the tip from the WW boards.

JoJoBaldwin · 22/02/2011 17:49

froot - tofu noodles sound INCREDIBLE! I want and need them. I heard of another kind of noodle which is like zero calories but by all accounts wasn't very nice, but tofu noodles would be brilliant.

mumto - bns chips are yum aren't they? I like to make mine spicy by coating in schwarz cajun spices for wedges. Poundland are selling mesh trays specially for making nice crispy oven chips and the bns chips cook a bit better on there I find.

Feeling frustrated as I turned up for my new meeting today and the building was closed. No way of contacting the leader to ask if this is a blip, tried ww customer services and they had no number for her. Hopefullyh it's just a half-term issue and it will be on next week.

Wii fit has me at 12-7 (from 12-11), but this is allowing 2lb for clothes when actually I am weighing nekkid. But still a loss!

hmc · 22/02/2011 19:24

Well done on the losses Littlefriend, abgirl and mumto2. Commiserations Sparkle - but good to hear you now sounding more positive after androb's fiery but motivating pep talk Wink. Sparkle gave you excellent advice ClairedeLoon about your home scales - shove them in the loft or somewhere equally inaccessible

My WI is due tomorrow but am not expecting great results - I've been partially tracking, namely writing everything down and totting it up until I get to my daily points maximum and then sneaking the odd item to eat beyond that but 'forgetting' to log it on the tracker (i've already exhausted my weekly points allowance). Hands up hand on heart who has never done that? Grin

wizzler · 22/02/2011 19:56

2lbs off tonight. Hurrah !
Thought it was pancake day today. Made the kids pancakes, sang the song etc and polished my halo for not eating them myself. Now I discover that Shrove Tuesday is 8th March, so I have to run the gauntlet of temptation again ! Kids looked at me is if I had lost the plot when I fessed up!
Well done Mumto, and all the other losers!

froot · 22/02/2011 19:59

Jeepers creepers mum2 that's amazing loss since new year....I'm only 5.5 lb down but I am almost at goal so only creeping down. Actually I am below my 'official' goal, 1/2lb over my mental goal, and 3 1/2 lb over where I want to be before I go skiing with the skinny witches in 4 weeks!!

We have bns about 5 nights a week in our house, chips, cubes, mashed, roasted, stuffed, soup...I want to grow some next year as they are quite expensive!!!!

froot · 22/02/2011 20:04

oops forgot bns risotto - that's delish, quite low pp and really filling too : quick recipe -

Boil a cubed squash in water with a stock cube, a tin of tomatoes and some tom puree. Fry a chopped onion in frylight, stir in risotto (arborio) rice and gradually add stock from your simmering butternut cubes(but if you can spare the points use 1 ladle white wine as your first ladle of liquid) making sure absorbs before you add next ladleful. when rice cooked, stir in your (now soft) butternut. If you have the points, sprinkle a bit of parmesan on!

You can adjust the amount depending on how many points you want to eat but I usually use 50g rice per person and a mohoosive squash between 2 of us.

DaydreamDolly · 22/02/2011 20:04

May I join you ladies? Starting counting calories Jan 4th then decided I needed more help so started WW PP 4 weeks ago.
Have lost in total 9lbs since 4th Jan, 4 on my own, 5 with WW PP.
I am finding the weight coming off slow, averaging 1.3lbs per week - are others finding this?
To be honest, I have entertained every weekend since starting, so have used almost all of my extras, each week, so perhaps this is why?

hmc · 22/02/2011 20:05

Next time warn me before you post a delicious recipe - am famished now Wink

hmc · 22/02/2011 20:06

Are you exercising Dolly?

froot · 22/02/2011 20:37

1.3 lb a week is fine ! That is well over a stone in 3 months so 4 stone in a year . If you can continue that with entertaining you will be able to maintain in the long term which really is the important thing ! Some people lose quicker to begin with, or if they have a lot to lose but any loss is going in the right direction . You would probably lose more quickly if you did not use your weeklies - but would you be able to maintain it or would feel too restricted ? Best slow and fit in with your lifestyle than feel like you are denying yourself too much then blowing it !!

DaydreamDolly · 22/02/2011 20:38

Hi hmc, 'fraid not at the moment - all good intentions and all that. About to start a Zumba class once a week but know that's probably not enough. What type and frequency of exercise do you recommend? I like exercise just find it hard to find the time, have a toddler and a part time job.

DaydreamDolly · 22/02/2011 20:39

Thaks froot - I only wanted to lose a stone in total, and planned 3 months to do it, so you're right, at least I'm on course for that.
I do love the flexibility the weeklies gives you!

hmc · 22/02/2011 20:42

Daydreamdolly - as froot says your weight loss is good but you might well average higher if you increased activity levels, although I hear what you are saying about time pressures like toddlers and work!

If time is of the essence a lot of posters on this thread favour the Shred DVD which is 20 minutes of intense highly effective exercise. You just need a tv, a small amount of space (you don't 'travel' great distances with this programme), some hand weights and ...20 minutes.

I personally quite like the Hannah Waterman DVD and Davina Fit, both of which have 30 minute cardio sessions.

androbbob · 22/02/2011 20:45

sparkle - tis ok - I should listen to myself really! I am in NW England so still a long way to SE England but be warned I may be heading down that way in May half term - so watch out!! Smile

Welcome to the new WW'ers and hope all the rest have had a good day - too tired to namecheck.

WI tomorrow - hoping for a loss - any loss will do!

I really must try harder to track properly this week - had a couple of days like hmc but only gone over by a couple of PP a day. I have done loads of extra exercise this week and I dont eat activity points, so hope they have offset the minor discretions!

I cancelled my monthly pass but as it was in the 2nd half of the month it lasts for another month, so I will continue with WI for the next 4 weeks and then revert to the online option. I must use esource properly as I kind of forget to track on line. I am planning on a new recipe every week from the recipe section - will report on anything that is good!

BNS is not something I have bothered with apart from when weaning the kiddies, but I think I need to see if Lidl have them and try them - 0 PP would be great for chips or mash, etc. Will google recipes for them I reckon - I hope I like it!

Some good losses this week - for all newbies or those who missed it I am running an Easter Challenge - a nice and easy run upto Easter - I am challenging you to lose 10lbs by Easter - all WI this week will count and everyone who loses the 10lbs will get a mini prize from me! (As long as you are willing to share your postal address at Easter!). So what are you waiting for - off you go to lose!

DaydreamDolly · 22/02/2011 21:03

Thanks hmc - I actually have the Shred DVD - got up to day 8 and got sick then never went back Blush
I will get back into it, as you're right, it can only increase things.
Thanks for the motivation to get moving again!

HighHeidYin · 23/02/2011 00:39

Apologies as am so tied up in my own gloom and doom so havent read any other posts

Put on 1/2lb at wi tonight.Angry No idea why. Have drowned myself in a creme egg (was truly revolting, honestly) and quite a few glasses of vodka (very nice indeed).

Tomorrow will get back to it and remedy any damage caused.

Will also read the thread and reply in a most positive way to all Grin

Goodnight!

JoJoBaldwin · 23/02/2011 07:20

Don't Panic HighHeid - this week is a new week.

I'm after ideas for reducing points in a stir fry. I have it with rice or noodles and can't think of anything else that would do. Beansprouts maybe?

ZCompton · 23/02/2011 08:05

Hello, can I join?

I need to lose a stone and a half to get into my old clothes. I have just got a monthly pass and am starting today even though the meeting isn't until Monday. Do you think it is easy enough to work out the diet on my own for a few days until the meeting?

IHeartIona · 23/02/2011 08:16

Hi zcompton well done on joining! Not sure if you can be sure of your daily points allowance till you've been to the meeting where the leader will work it out for you. The plan itself is quite simple, you can eat what you like as long as you stay within your propoints allowance(so that is quite key!). Everyone gets the same weekly allowance of 49 pps, which you can use for treats ornights out or how you like really. Esource will help you work out the points for what you are eating. Good luck!!

ZCompton · 23/02/2011 08:32

thanks! If you join the monthly pass you can do online and meetings and it has given me a points total of 29. I just had a banana and grapefruit and that seems to be no points...surprising for a banana

IHeartIona · 23/02/2011 08:52

Ah in that case, you shouldn't have any probs starting now! You'll get info at your meeting but fresh fruit is zero points so are most veg, except peas, sweetcorn and parsnips for example. lean protein and wholemeal carbs are what you are encouraged to eat. Read a few articles on esource and you should find out more. Good luck and post on here in case of any questions, this is quite a busy thread!

ZCompton · 23/02/2011 09:50

thanks! Hope you are getting on well with it Smile

NorthernComfort · 23/02/2011 09:55

Hello,

Can I jump in pleasE? Just done my first proper week and lost 1lb. Biscuit

Am hoping it will get a bit more significant than that, 1lb a week will be rubbish. I've been going to the gym 4 times a week too, I feel cheated.
