DAy one of half term here, and I'm doing pretty damn ood if I do say o myself. We have even went to the pictures and I avoided popcorn, nachos and a hue hotdog. Had a tiny bag of toffee popcorn 3pp instead and a diet drink.

I've been paintin one of the DC's bedrooms the past two days, my arms are aching all over.

hmc · 21/02/2011 18:24

You certainly did well to avoid the hotdog - very high hidden fat content!

wizzler · 21/02/2011 19:39

Hi everyone.. did I mention a week ago that I got all assertive about the Shop book that WW are flogging.Lots of us were disappointed with it. Anyway, Iand complained to WW HQ, and today I got a response,( below)
.. so I guess if you shop a lot at Tesco's or Morrisons, just dont bother with this book. I thought it was useless and I shop at Sainsburys!

There is a relatively low number of Tesco items ? Tesco do not supply Weight Watchers with the nutritional information of their products, making it difficult to collect. We thought that it was important to include some basic foods from Tesco, and researched the items listed individually. More Tesco products are being added to the Weight Watchers food database and will be available through eSource during the year. There are very few items from Morrisons as they do not supply Weight Watchers with the nutritional information of their products, making it difficult to collect. More Morrisons products are being added to the Weight Watchers food database and will be available through eSource during the year.

Hey ladies, well I have started off really well on the new incentive..... not..... have put on 1lb. Stayed within my points but used my weeklies differently, also TOTM. Am absolutely gutted, I feel like that's a week of my life I have wasted. Feel totally demoralised and didn't stay to the meeting, just went to my car and sobbed. Maybe I can't do this, maybe I should accept I'm going to be like this forever.

Sorry for the downer, just tired of it all.

Hmm just reread that and I need to man up I think!

5inthebed · 21/02/2011 19:51

Wizzler Thats a bit crap. Noted not to buy the book

Sparkle Chin up. You can do this! You just need the right head on. Take a day or two off and get yourself sorted WW wise and jump back on it.

wizzler · 21/02/2011 20:08

Oh Sparkle Sad. Don't be too down. Have you thought about having your leader look at your tracker to see if there is any evidence as to where it went wrong? Did you gain last totm?

Have a Wine (or 6) and an MN hug, and get back on the straight and narrow tomorrow.

Dont be too despondent.. you will get there

froot · 21/02/2011 20:40

Sparkle don't give up - have a night off then get back to it tomorrow - you will prob find you have A bigger loss than you expect next week - you are prob holding water as totm . I am only losing slowly so I always look at total loss over total weeks -5.5 lb in 6 weeks for me which I am happy with. Lost 1 lb at WI tonight .

My three things are:

  1. frigging fantastic legs from the knees down ( bloody horrible from there up !
  2. boobs not bad
  3. I make the most of every minute

Anyone do me a favour ? In tonights weekly mag there is a recipe for grapefruit panacotta and I though I would substitute different yog and not do syrup . When I worked out the Pp I make it 3 total for the milk and yog but dunno what Pp 2 gelatine leaves would be . Total Pp for recipe is 8 (4 per serving) which sounds too much by far - the grapefruit is free and only a little sugR in the syrup . Surely gelatine can't be that bad ?

androbbob · 21/02/2011 21:36

Still laughing at blondes and HHY - competitive you two non?!

hmc - yes we have done half term - phew! Six weeks to our Easter break though - which is the first two weeks of April not at Easter Hmm

loub - well done - yours is the first weightloss on the Easter Challenge - just 8 more to go for you!!

sparkle - just man up will you! I spent most of January and the first two weeks of Feb messing around with 3lbs - on off on off - it is so frustrating. BUT remember where you have got to - I have got 15.5lbs on my spredsheet that you have lost - that is fabulous! I know you have previously said you have more to lose - just remember how long it has taken you to get to your starting weight - I know for me it was over 10 years of being at the same weight give or take half a stone - if it takes me all year to lose this then so be it. Get out the tape and do some measuring and then do the same in two weeks time and then another two weeks time - stick at it and even if the scales slow down then the tape will show the loss of inches - which is how your clothes fit not a number on the scales. DO NOT GIVE UP ELSE I WILL PERSONALLY COME ROUND TO YOUR HOUSE (Wherever it is!) AND KICK YOUR BUM!!! Grin Grin Give yourself a few days off and then regroup your thoughts and start again. A little plateau is fine - its just your body adjusting to the loss so far - it will start losing again honest! Just watching Biggest Loser and they had a bucket of stones equivalent to their loss and a backpack to put them in to see how much they had lost. Perhaps you need to find something equivalent to what you have lost so far and try carrying ot around for 5 mins - you will soon see the benefits of not giving up. Sending a big Hug to you x

blondes - get over here and sort sparkle out please!!

I am in pain today - did a new gym workout on Sunday and cant walk today! Did my usual gym class also so will suffer tomorrow for definate! My Shred DVD came today - will start on Thursday as DH out. Hoping the scales show a good loss on Wed and I get my stone award - I so deserve it! Should have had it in January.

Hope all well and not too phased by school holidays!!

IHeartIona · 21/02/2011 21:36

thanks to hmc for your positive thoughts! fingers crossed for this Thursday for me then Wink
shocked to hear about the frankfurter too! we have some chicken ones in the fridge - will avoid.
loublou - well done on your 2 stone total loss!
benben - that is lovely re meeting your man
HHY - fingers crossed for your weigh-in tomorrow and reaching your stone goal
wizzler - that's v useful to know about the Shop book. I have it and usually shop in Tesco, but usually find what I need on eSource, or add new item using the nutritional label if not in the book. Would be good if they warned you about it before you buy it!
sparkle101 - I felt exactly like you last week when I put on a pound. I took a day off then started again - don;t be sad, you can do it, and next week you could be surprised at the scales in a good way!
froot - according to eSource: gelatine, fine leaf, 5 sheets (2g each) = 1 pp. I just tested and it goes up to 2 points for 12 sheets.

so, now I am feeling a bit better, here are 3 nice things about myself (difficult, this):

  1. I'm friendly and kind
  2. I have good lips! (love my lippie)
  3. I've got a good waist
androbbob · 21/02/2011 21:37

Ooops that was long! Blush

teaandcrumpets · 21/02/2011 21:39

sparkle - what they said! Nil desperandum! It could be for all sorts of reasons, and you may well find you have a great loss next week. Chin up! :)

froot · 21/02/2011 22:18

Thanks iheart it looks as though I am right and points are wrong for that pannacotta recipe could someone check if they have time at a meeting this week ? It's my all time favourite pudding ! I reckon that recipe shd be 2 Pp tops without the syrup .

LittleFriendSusan · 21/02/2011 23:24

Just a quickie as it's late and I need to go to bed! Lost 2.5lb at WI tonight - so am feeling a bit more optimistic again!

Froot - just put the ingredients into the online recipe builder and comes up as 6PP total (so 3 per serving):

2 sheets gelatine = 0PP
200ml skimmed milk = 2PP
1 pot pink grapefruit yogurt = 1PP
100ml grapefruit juice = 1PP
15g caster sugar = 2
Grapefruit = 0

So without the syrup you should be looking at 3PP for the whole recipe? Def think the leaflet's wrong.

(PS. Good leaflet this week I thought! The tropical parfait & cobbler look v nice too!)

abgirl · 22/02/2011 08:37

Hi all, sorry not been on too much this week - v busy at work finishing things off before a week's leave for half term this week.

Had a few days off planConfused but have WI'd this morning and lost 1lb so back tracking today so I don't put it all back on next week. Had a lovely day trip to France yesterday so feel I've had a bit of a treat and am now focusing on trying to make the rest of half term as healthy as possible...

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 22/02/2011 09:47

Hi everyone, I've been reading but not posting over the weekend, well done on lots of good losses over the past few days!

Sparkle - what androbbob said Grin

I'm certain a lot of the great weight losses on here are due to having your head in the right place. I know i'm feeling differently about losing weight this time compared to when I've made half hearted attempts before!

Has anyone else got the seriously satisfying cookbook? I've made a few recipes from it over the last week and have been quite impressed. The pork lasagne went down well, and the paella is really good. Didn't taste like diet food at all, DH agreed!

Have started back at the gym this week - they have a creche for DD2 so there's no excuse! I'm going to try zumba on Friday, although at the moment I seem to be the only person booked into the class, which might be a bit embarrassing!

WI tomorrow for me, hoping for another 2lbs. Fingers crossed!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 22/02/2011 09:48

I really need to stop ending every sentence with an exclamation mark.

abgirl · 22/02/2011 10:10

Yes you do! GrinGrinGrin

ClaireDeLoon · 22/02/2011 11:15

I got on the scales at home this morning and it says I put on a pound this week. WI is tomorrow morning. I have pointed everything I have eaten/drank, used all my daily points, half my weekly points and half my activity points. I have done the 30Day Shred EVERY BLOODY DAY and also my ww pedometer shows I'm walking about 4 miles a day (and that's fairly accurate I would think, in fact yesterday my walking route included a bloody big hill!). I'm quite pissed off.

abgirl · 22/02/2011 11:33

Wait until your WI tomorrow, your scales at home may not be accurate...

CRbear · 22/02/2011 11:38

Hi all,

Thanks for the warm welcome!

blondes hope your DH is better soon, you must be sick of the sight of hospitals and blood!

HHY awesome idea- thoughtful is always better.

sparkle don't give up, you have been a huge inspiration to me!

My three good points:
I am a good cook
I am friendly and good at dealing with people
I have nice collar and cheek bones

Terrible, terrible week for me...3 course dinner with alot of wine on Saturday night (all paid for!), mum and sister were visiting me on Sunday and Monday and we ate out alot, including Jamie Olivers last night which was incredible. Scales aren't happy and I really hope I can pull it back to atleast an sts for Thursday. Step class later and running tomorrow...fingers crossed!

sparkle101 · 22/02/2011 13:20

Happy Monday ladies,

A new week begins and time to get back on it. Have looked through my tracker for last week and it makes quite interesting reading, some things have sneaked in that I previously avoided and I wasn't on or under my points any day, obviously I respond better to having my weeklies for a blow out rather than little and often over the week, can't remember who said it but that's kind of what Gary Barlow did, eat well 6 days out of the week and have what you want the other day (obviously within weeklies). I have also been on a new pill this month (first change in many a year) so sure that has something to do with it. I suppose tracking is all well and good but you have to use it to identify what works and what doesn't and don't just write down for the sake of it.

Thank you 5inabed wizzler froot andro iheart teaandcrumpets shoulders8 and CRbear* for your lovely words! I didn't put on last TOTM but I was only in week 2 so lost 4.5lb so probably not a great indicator! Iheart - hope you lose lots this week!

Andro thank you Smile I may just make you come and kick me up the bum, if you (as I suspect) live in Scotland you will have a loooong way to come (SE england!) Have never done measuring but think I will start, my 18 jeans are falling off me where they were super tight to begin with but never measured so going to do that today! My DD weighs 15.5lb and I have made an effort to carry her around for quite a while today - it's amazing to think of that gone so feel a lot more motivated!

Again, thank you ladies, you're all amazingly helpful and supportive, and if I can help you at all please just let me know.

Speaking of which, clairedeloon If you can, try not to weigh at home! My scales are in the garage as I was weighing too much and found the impact of the scales had a huge impact on how I approached food that day, also that my scales had bugger all relation to weight watchers scales and changed wherever they were on the floor! My home scales said 15.6 in the morning, I would go to WI in the evening having eaten three meals and obviously fully clothed and I would weigh at 15.4 so I just stick to weight watchers scales and approach my week from there! Fingers crossed for your WI.

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 22/02/2011 14:24

Sparkle, you know it's Tuesday, yes?

sparkle101 · 22/02/2011 14:29

Sorry, yes, I meant new weight watchers week for me! (although being on maternity leave does mean that all the days run into one another!)

IHeartIona · 22/02/2011 15:14

Whoops I seem to have eaten all my daily points already... Made dd chicken goujons in breadcrumbs for lunch and ate too much before pointing them... Soup for dinner for me then!
shoulders - I have that cookbook and we also liked the pork lasagne. Must look in it again, I usually use esource for recipes.
clairedeloon- You've been really good so don't weigh at home and get down, they calibrate the scales at WW so it's much more accurate there. Fingers crossed for you!

froot · 22/02/2011 16:02

lfs thanks for that I thought I was right. I am going to try and make it this weekend but not grapefruit flavour.

Has anyone had tofu/shiratake noodles? they are really low cal/carb as are basically a veg. I just wondered if anyone had managed to buy them in the UK as they are all the rage in the US.
