Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy
:)

Might look at wrist weights as well then. The 5kg ones on Argos site are sort of triangular, not sure if they'd hurt more.

JelliBelli · 12/03/2011 17:24

When I was visiting my parents I still shredded but to keep weight down didn't take my weights. I just used some soup tins out of her cupboard and when doing this move I found soup tins didn't feel like they would hold my weight. So I just put the tins on the floor next to my hands and grabbed them for the lifteing bit then put them back on the floor. It's a little slower but might get you by for a few days.

thatgirlsevil · 12/03/2011 21:16

Good evening shredders,

Level 1, day 2 here...every part of me aches and feels tender to the touch but that can only be a good thing, right?

I just wanted to ask if anybody else had problems with the exercises that focus on the abs? I've never been able to master a proper sit-up and I'm worried that I'm just doing it all wrong.

I'm having visions of myself in a few weeks time...all lithe and toned of limb but with a gut like a darts player. That would so not be a good look.

Does anybody have any tips for me?

It's really encouraging to hear about everybody's progress on here...

JelliBelli · 12/03/2011 21:29

Stick with it. Jillian will lead you up to doing sit ups. They are an advanced move in level 3. But you know when she says about your endurance increasing by day 5,6 and 7, she's right you will. The ab exercises get doable too.

Th aching is normal Grin and for me stopped by about day 3.

My tip is to take your measurements now before you start changing. The scales won't reflect the changes in your body but the tape measure will.

knottyhair · 12/03/2011 22:02

Can I just add that I started mid Jan on Level 1 and coudn't do proper sit-ups. Now on Level 3 and can do proper Rocky-style ones? And honestly, I was useless! So keep at it!

JelliBelli · 12/03/2011 22:32

Well done Knottyhair Envy - i am still with Anita on those ones.

thatgirlsevil · 12/03/2011 22:57

Ahhh that's all extremely reassuring.

I just feel a bit useless, wriggling and grunting and just about managing to raise my head a few inches off the ground. I look forward to becoming a stomach crunching machine at some point in the not-so-distant future.

Jelli, I took my measurements yesterday and I'm hoping to see a change there. I don't actually own a pair of scales and I'm aiming to change the shape of my body and develop a bit of stamina above anything else.

Thanks for all the advice...I'm sure I'll be popping back in here on a regular basis from now on.

febes · 12/03/2011 23:55

Only 1 more day at L2 and then I can move on. I had a sneaky peek at L3 today after I had finished and it looks really hard but I'll be glad to have a change- still bloody hate level 2!! In a good way though Grin
Speaking of abs. Mine are getting so much stronger and more defined. Pity about all the fat over the top. But that is slowly disappearing too.

thatgirlsevil · 13/03/2011 12:51

Day 3 done and dusted. I'm already starting to feel less achey and a tiny sense of achievement that I just know I'm going to stick with this.

As well as shredding, I'm also limiting my alcohol intake to Friday nights ONLY (1 bottle of chardonnay and a bottle of soda)...and I've cut out carbonated soft drinks completely and I'm trying to drink at least 1.5 ltrs of water every day.

I don't really plan on dieting but I'm steering clear of white bread, crisps and biscuits, pasta and creamy sauces, cheese Sad Sad Sad and a few other calorific snacks and dishes.

Today's menu plan,

Crunchy nut cornflakes and semi-skimmed milk

Half tin of baked beans, one slice of granary toast and 1 rasher of back bacon (I've just finished this btw, it was pretty damn tasty)

Snacks,
Apple, orange

2 small slices of Garlic chicken pizza with mixed salad and low fat dressing

Has anyone else seen the stills from "Extreme Shred"? I'm torn between thinking "oh - my - god" to "ooh, wouldn't mind having a go at that" Grin.

greenfig · 13/03/2011 14:28

Extreme shredShock sounds scary! Have downloaded the apps for mini workouts that somebody recommended & they look great.
thatsevilgirl you need to focus on belly button in & rib to hip to prevent the muscles bulging as you do the exercise. Think flat tummy as you come up to crunch, you'll get there. Did suped up L1 with DH doing Anita style (but with heavier weights) & was stupidly happy at how hard he found it! He's always been much fitter than meGrin Was a good boost to see how much I've already improved. My weight seems to have stabilised a couple of lbs above end of diet weight. Am still desperate for my thighs to start meltingGrin Does anyone else find shredding makes you hungry?

ClaireDeLoon · 13/03/2011 14:47

Extreme shred??

Done day 10 level 2 and then sat and watched level 3 so I know what tomorrow holds. Thank God for Anita is all I can say! Though she is worryingly smiley - I found myself wondering if she'd been a synchronised swimmer in a previous life.

Envy at you lot with abdominal muscles, I just have a big fluffy pillow :(

knottyhair · 13/03/2011 15:04

If anyone's on FB, the stills are here

thatgirlsevil · 13/03/2011 15:43

Thanks for the tip greenfig.

Oh my days at those Extreme shred stills...I feel lightheaded.

susall · 13/03/2011 21:04

Oh my, extreme shred looks pretty nails, will still buy it as my fitness levels have improved no end by shredding the last 3 months and the changes to my body are amazing.
I got a top for going out last night the other week and it stops at my bum, when I first tried it it was fitting around the bum and the frill would stick out but last night it sat perfectly flat and looked really good. Shame I drunk far too much Wine and felt pretty icky all day, may have to skip shred tomorrow if I still feel crappy by lunch time.

notyummy · 13/03/2011 22:38

Hi Thatsgirl - I think Lostgirl may know more about this than mr, but your diet looks a little bit protein light perhaps? Some fish or chicken no skin) instead of pizza? And eggs occasionally at breakfast - they take longer to prepare than cereal though don't they?!

Can't wait for extreme shred!

Managed loads of running, plus pilates, BfBM and Billys Bootcamp in my hotel room whilst away on my course last week. Diet wasn't great..,but I'm not trying to loose weight. The place just didn't seen to know what z salad is though!

flatmouse · 14/03/2011 08:23

A weekend of extreme walking around the big smoke - am exhausted now!

As i'm bored with level 1 (need heavier weights and don't like cardio) I've moved on to level 2 again (forgot how hard it was). Was very pleased to see the improvement in my planks! The tuck jump one (can't do) but this time i managed to stay in plank the entire time and do Anita (last time round i would collapse after about 10!) - and the straddle jump one i could do now ! was very pleased (small things Wink )

May go for run later but am so tired and legs so achy from all the walking i might not - don't want to injure myself (or make the blisters worse).

Joby1970 · 14/03/2011 08:27

Knottyhair - you aske a question re weight hurting your hands on level 3. I solved it by buying weightlifting gloves (I bought them in Decathlon) they are padded on the palm & make it much more comfortable - plus they weren't dear.

knottyhair · 14/03/2011 09:56

Joby, thanks, that's a really good idea, they seem to be cheaper than wrist weights. Had a look on Amazon, and can I ask, what size did you get? Is small OK?

Labradorlover · 14/03/2011 10:43

Morning, level 3 day 5 I think. Really hard going today after the weekend off. But really noticing the shape of my arms and shoulders changing. Also went to Zumba last week and found it really easy, so my cardio must be improving too Smile

Joby1970 · 14/03/2011 12:46

Knotty - i think I bought small

knottyhair · 14/03/2011 12:48

Thanks Joby.

knottyhair · 15/03/2011 10:27

Gloves are on order Joby, thanks again. Just done BFBM for a change - blimey. I don't think any of the moves are more difficult than the Shred, and the odd one is quite easy, but doing it for 40 mins instead of 20 was hard! Enjoyed it though Smile. Flatmouse, where did you go in London?

CleverCircusFlea · 15/03/2011 12:05

Had weekend off, was gonna shred yesterday, but was too tired after a 12h shift, so I didn't do it in the end. Level 2 day 2 done today, I'm still useless at it Grin
But! I have noticed something! My biceps are changing shape, and i rather like it, I had a vest top on for most of Saturday and Sunday, and kept checking out my arms, making sure that the muscles are still there Grin Blush

Joby1970 · 15/03/2011 12:44

CCFLEA - You'll end up calling your biceps your "guns" - or is that just me lol!
