Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy

Had a weekend off, but am about to do day 7 of level 1,and maybe a weigh-in and a measure afterwards Shock I'm a bit scared that i won't see any results though Confused

ClaireDeLoon · 07/03/2011 10:52

You're all doing so well! The tips and advice here really help me stay determined, and it's good to see that I'm not the only that struggles with stuff like the v raises etc.

I did L2 day 5 yesterday, still finding level 2 so hard on my shoulders but they aren't actually achey this morning so that's either good or means I need to try harder. Thanks for those clarifying how the final abs exercise works, I will try to follow what you say tonight when I shred again.

I haven't exercised properly for about 8 years and I'm really surprising myself that I'm sticking with this.

ClaireDeLoon · 07/03/2011 10:54

oh and I meant to say - well done febes :o

CleverCircusFlea · 07/03/2011 11:29

I really feel I've done this properly today, real push ups etc. According to my tape measure I've lost about a centimeter from each of the places I've measured a week ago, which is good Grin. According to bathroom scales I've done nothing Angry. But I can do push ups, which I couldn't do a week ago, so it's all moving in the right direction, right?

LostGirl · 07/03/2011 11:42

CleverCircusFlea, ignore the scales it's the tape measure that is a far more accurate judge of whether things are working or not. Put it this way, would you prefer the scales said you weighed less at the end of the 30 days but your measurements stayed the same, or would you prefer your measurements showed you'd lost several inches but the scales hadn't moved? People who drop a lot of weight quickly in a couple of weeks through dieting may well be 8lbs lighter but there measurements will not have changed much as it will be muscle they have lost, not fat. Muscle is far more dense than fat so lb for lb takes up far less space than fat does.

ClairedeLoon, don't worry that your shoulders are not feeling sore anymore, it doesn't mean that the exercise is no longer working just that the muscles have become used to the movement. However, if when doing any of the moves, you get to the end of the number of reps and feel like you could have gone on and done a few more with good form then it means you need to find a way to make that particular exercise harder.

LostGirl · 07/03/2011 11:44

Oh, and congratulations on achieving the full push ups, plenty of harder variations to aim for when these stop being challenging for you as well Grin

flatmouse · 07/03/2011 12:35

I look forward to the day i can do full push ups!! And all the plank moves, and full sit ups! Wink

Just back from my lunchtime 5k. Pleased i got round because the cramping feet were still an issue, speed still very poor.

Joby1970 · 07/03/2011 13:09

hi LOSTGIRL - just a little note to say I was at the gym yesterday for a person training session & managed to benchpress 55KG - my best yet - I know I can tell you & none of my RL mates will understand

LostGirl · 07/03/2011 13:13

Grin Wow, that is HUGE Shock. Is that a one rep max? What sort of stuff are you doing in the gym these days?

CleverCircusFlea · 07/03/2011 13:22

Thanks, LostGirl, although you got me worried now, harder variations? I thought that's as hard as it gets! Blush

LostGirl · 07/03/2011 13:30

Here's a few suggestions to aim for

greenfig · 07/03/2011 21:58

I am not worthy lost girl! Can't ever imagine managing thoseShock Zumba almost finished me off tonightGrin

febes · 08/03/2011 00:15

Just bought 2 kg weights. It was difficult enough getting them home from the shop HmmGrin

conquita · 08/03/2011 04:05

I did level today having had a break from it for a couple of weeks. Last week I did just level 1. By god, I was sweating like mad at the end of it. It is amazing how your body's fitness declines so quickly. Am trying to complete a regime of shred 4-5 times a week, with a pilates dvd thrown in once a week for good measure. I use 2.5 kg weights febes, and I know what you mean about getting them home from the shop! that is a workout in itself!

Had a fat day yesterday, felt like I had let myself go and become wobbly again. After completing level 2 today I am thinking I am back on track. It is measurement day next Monday so hopefully I will have lost some cms again this month.

conquita · 08/03/2011 04:06

I did level 2 today.

Joby1970 · 08/03/2011 08:10

LOSTGIRL - I am doing boxfit twice a week & have just started training in the "style" of Jessica Ennis. So a circuit of pull ups, medicine ball squats & deadlifts. The deadlift weight is 35KG - you do it 3 times. My Personal trianer says that Jessica does this but 5 times over & her deadlifts are at 100kg! That's why I'm only in the style of. Grin

Welll done everyone on keeping on going with the shred - it is THE BEST DVD EVER!

LostGirl · 08/03/2011 08:30

Got to love deadlifts, though the fact that you bench press more than you deadlift is absolutely insane Grin . I don't even have access to a barbell at the moment so am having to make do with single leg romanian deadlifts with the dumbbells, great exercise but my grip SUCKS and the most I can hold on to for about 5 reps each leg is only 20kg each hand which isn't heavy enough. Very Envy of you having a personal trainer and having a proper gym and proper equipment! Can you do unassisted pull ups too.. and if so please share the secrets of how to get to that point, I seem to be struggling to improve on mine at the minute.

myflabberisgasted · 08/03/2011 09:51

Hi Everyone,

Please can I re-join again?! I was on the 1st thread towards the end and the beginning of this thread until I lost all motivation became really busy!

I have done day 1 again of level 1 and feel really good about myself so I just wanted to boast on here as no one in RL really cares!!

It's great to read all your progress as I have been lurking on this post for a while thinking I really must start again!
I am going to be realistic this time and aim to do it 3 times a week, anymore will be a bonus.
I think last time I had too high expectations of myself!

Labradorlover · 08/03/2011 09:53

Level 3 day 1 done. Almost like a holiday for my shoulders after level 2......Mainly doing the easy version though Smile

greenfig · 08/03/2011 10:26

Hi myflabberisgasted
L3 mostly easy version done today too labradorlover I find those rockstar jumps IMPOSSIBLE! Reminds me of when DD was 2 & couldn't jump, just stood trying to heave herself up feet firmly planted! Good news is my bottom is looking quite respectableWink Inner thighs & tummy to go....

flatmouse · 08/03/2011 10:34

greenfig those rock star jumps! By the end of level 3 i could do every other one. Hoping by the time i get there second time round i can match them jump for jump! (I do think it's more mental than physical though - a bit like my inability to stand up on pedals during a spin class - i know i can physically do it, but when it's needed i just can't!)

Hello myflabber - keep going!!!

myflabberisgasted · 08/03/2011 12:06

When I did Level 1 the 1st time last time, I couldn't walk down the stairs at all! Today I can and I haven't done the shred for about 2 / 3 weeks so thats a good sign!

I'm dreading level 2 - i've heard horror stories about that level!!

Labradorlover · 08/03/2011 12:34

greenfig with youon the rockstar jumps and jumping squat things and isn't the warm up just extra cardio....still better than level 2.

myflabber Level 2 - never sworn so much at my telly Wink

Joby1970 · 08/03/2011 13:15

myflabber - level 2 is hard - but fun too.

Lost girl - don't know how much I can actually deadlift not tried it. The personal trainer was a free session so don't need to be too jealous - plus I'm at a local authorit gym - they are really nice there tho.
also not tried unassisted pull ups will let you know. For my weights work I do wear lifting gloves tho.

BalloonSlayer · 08/03/2011 13:33

Ugh did up to Day 7 of Level 1 the second time round.

Just toooooooo bored with it now so did Level 2 today, which was always my favourite.

OhmyGoodGawd it was hard. I feel quite downhearted.
