Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy
:)

Clevercircusflea I hate it too. It's only now that I have done all levels and gone back to Level 1, that I know it's a fucker - I don't think any of the other bits in the whole Shred are as hard.

LostGirl · 03/03/2011 21:04

threestepsforward are an amazing exercise for your tush. Do them without any weights at first, once you can do a couple of sets of 12- 15 then start adding weights.

ClaireDeLoon · 03/03/2011 22:07

Well done flatmouse

I am glad I am not alone in finding circuit 1 level 1 so hard, cardio feels like I'm dying. I think the concept of easing you in gently isn't one Jillian agrees with!

No shred tonight, pilates class instead. I read one of the tips on the iPhone app was turn in your toes when doing squats to strengthen inner thighs (and turn out toes to strengthen outer thighs). I tried last night with turning toes in and can confirm that my inner thighs have been in agony all day and pilates was a killer. I'd saved 2 of today's WW points for a mullerlight yoghurt when I got in from class but my thighs decided they needed a G&T instead.

Momentarynamechange · 03/03/2011 22:17

Thanks Lostgirl Smile - had a look and they look tough Shock, but I can see they will be effective ...
I will definitely be adding those in, especially when my DVD player will be under 10 feet of building dust!
good night all

Dontbugmemalone · 04/03/2011 07:04

Hi everyone,

I'm currently on L3, day 4 (did L1 sporadically, so started at L2 and I'm struggling with some of the exercises, although I'm not sore the next day.
I've found level 3 to be a challenge but I'd like to focus more on getting some toned abs rather than having a jelly belly. I'm thinking about just doing the abs circiut from level 2 instead.

I would really like to hear some positive results of the shred to keep me motivated :)

flatmouse · 04/03/2011 07:38

Ok here are my 30 day shred scores on the doors!

Weight loss ...... 5lbs
Total inch loss ..... 28 inches!

Inch loss made up as follows:
Arms: 0.5 each
Boobies: 3.5
Under boobies: 2
Belly: 6 !!! ( but still have alot to loose )
Hip/bum: 2.5 ( worst area must do better )
Thigh: 4 each !
Knee: 1 each
Calf: 1 each
Cankle: 0.5 each

Am very pleased with the inch loss and hope as it continues to be a challenge I can continue to loose inches ( realise that will slow down ).

So level 1 day 1 in a bit, and maybe a run as I bottled it last night :)

Keep going everyone!!!

ClaireDeLoon · 04/03/2011 07:47

Those are brilliant results! Well done.

Welcome Dontbugme - you got your positive results to motivate you right there! :o

YouCantTeuchThis · 04/03/2011 07:57

Well done Flatmouse! 28inches???!!! Fantastic.

I can't find my measurements anywhere - I think they may have accidentally gone to MIL in a book I passed on... Blush

I should still measure now though. I'll do that today.

Weighed in this morning though and I am at 85.7kg. So that is just under 4lbs off this week Grin Hurrah! Beat my target of half a stone in two weeks (just!)

Haven't shredded for 2 days though, so must get on with it today. Had pulled muscle in neck/shoulder and was as weak as water yesterday, like there just wasn't enought oxygen in the air Confused

I am also pre-menstrual so was fighting the snacking urge all day.

Claire - like the tip about the squats. Are you feeling less down now?

Lostgirl - great to have an 'expert' on the thread Grin

flatmouse · 04/03/2011 08:14

YCTT how are you loosing the weight? My 5lbs overall was a bit of a fluke tbh - it wasn't a gradual over the 6 weeks it's been up and down during that time.
Desperately need to loose some weight - yes i understand about the inch loss and muscle weight and throw away the scales but the weight i am, i can't!

YouCantTeuchThis · 04/03/2011 08:23

I am dieting, shredding and a power walk every day. But I have a lot to lose, so I expected it to come off fast for the 1st week or two and then slow down.

notyummy · 04/03/2011 09:11

28 inches....that is AMAZING. Well done!

greenfig · 04/03/2011 09:25

flatmouse those are fantastic results! Well done youGrin cairns & I have both recently lost weight following Dukan diet. Am now shredding to tone & strengthen rather than lose weight. It is lo carb, lo fat & lo sugar, but is designed to eliminate hunger & cravings then stabilise your weight once target is reached. It REALLY works & I found it easy & am maintaing my new weight. Look it up, there's also a support thread on MN.
Well done everyone, am off to attempt a premature L3....

Momentarynamechange · 04/03/2011 09:28

Go flatmouse and You Can't, that's fantastic!! Grin

I'll definitely try the toes turned in tip Clare, thanks for that...

Will Shred today some time and then expect I won't have time at the weekend, but feel happy with weekends off as long as I keep it up during the week.

Have a good day all Smile

flatmouse · 04/03/2011 09:48

I'll have a look at Dukan thanks. Also top tip Clare will try that as hate top of inner thighs!

Thanks everyone - am very pleased with the results - but then realise that the reason they are so good is that i had a LOT to tone up Grin

flatmouse · 04/03/2011 09:48

(sorry, Claire)

susall · 04/03/2011 10:09

Wow thats some amazing inch loss there, well done you.
I lost my first measurements so may retake them this morning.
Batteries for the scales (silly little flat things) have been put down the back of the wardrobe, would be a workout in itself to get them back so Im free from the lure of the demotivating scales woohoo!!!
My DH is bringing a heavier set of weights home for me today and I still plan on doing the 3 workouts but will use the new weights on level 1 to start with then work my way up. I start with level 3 then work down so even with the new weights I wont be able to give up after level 1.

greenfig · 04/03/2011 10:31

Just 'kinda' completed L3. Thank God I was interrupted during circuit 2 by delivery man! Much prefer to L2 but def did light-weight girly versionSmile
Am just pleased to be getting stronger as I suffer with back probs. 2 years of pilates along with weight loss has enabled me to physically cope (back wise) I have just lost all strength & lots of fitness, def feel this is doind lots of good. Will attempt Claires top inner thighs tip tom.

knottyhair · 04/03/2011 10:32

Morning. Everyone's doing so well, it's really inspirational coming on this thread! I haven't managed to Shred this week at all due to cough/cold, but I've lost 1.5lbs (10.75lbs in 6 weeks), with counting calories as well, so slow but steady. Also have lost 7" in total over 2 weeks (didn't start measuring until 2 weeks ago Blush). Had to keep checking, can't quite believe I've lost 2" off my waist and 3" off my bottom sticky out gut (IYKWIM). Hope everyone's having a good day x

LostGirl · 04/03/2011 12:16

Fantastic results everyone. Flatmouse your results prove that the tape measure is a far better measure of success than the scales are. With regards to squats and inner thighs, all squats will work both your outer and inner thighs at the same time as long as you are concentrating on making sure your knees track over your toes. The muscles on your inner and outer thighs have to work like crazy to keep your legs in the correct position and stop your legs from collapsing inwards or outwards. When squatting with weight you are generally advised to angle your toes outwards slightly, but everyone will have their own natural position that allows then to get the most out of the movement. The only problem with pointing your toes inwards is that it severely limits your range of motion, there is no way I could do an 'arse to grass' squat in that position Grin . When done properly squats are the best single exercise for your lower body, and will do more for every part of your thighs than any machine in a gym will.

YouCantTeuchThis · 04/03/2011 15:15

half-arsed level 2 here Grin but did it! ~Off out now to play hide n seek!

jcb69 · 04/03/2011 15:20

Does anyone else struggle with final ab exercise on Level 2? The one where you are in a plank and move your knee up and to the other side.
I can do it, but it feels too easy, so I wonder if I'm not moving my leg across enough. But when I do that, I just look like I'm doing some really unatural twisting thing.
I'm lucky in that I do have quite strong abs.....................but that scissor one doesn't seem to be getting any easier either!!

Great results from everyone. Really wishing I'd taken before measurements. (Couldn't bring myself to............the shame!!) I did take photos though!!Aaaagh!!

Momentarynamechange · 04/03/2011 17:26

Wow, well done you jcb69 - is the run in September? Do you have a full-on training plan in place already? I'm a crappy runner, I did it for a bit a while back and my arms never seemed to behave (think Phoebe in Friends!).

Yay, level 2 done today. Found second cardio circuit much easier than I have done, but had to put down my new 2kg in last v-raises as I physcially couldn't life them any more - room for improvement Grin

jcb69 I also find the last abs bit worryingly easy! I try and twist my leg under as far as possible until I can feel my tummy crunching.

I thought about a few bulgarian split squats at the end lost girl but I ran out of steam!

Off to begin Friday, yay!! Might Shred over weekend, but may not have time.

Good weekend everyone Smile

Momentarynamechange · 04/03/2011 17:31

p.s. hope you're on the mend soon knottyhair Smile

Labradorlover · 04/03/2011 17:36

jcb69 I struggle with the last ab exercise. But not that it's too easy....My arms are like jelly by that stage. Could be wrong, but I think you twist the body too, so it's not just the knee and leg moving.
I'm really wary of this move actually, as I damaged my pelvis years ago and can feel it twinging if I too full on with this.
greenfig pleased to hear you're "liking" level 3 more than 2. Can't wait to move onto it on Monday.
dontbugme I've no idea of weight or measurements, but I'm back in my old jeans I've not worn for a year and feel much stronger.

BalloonSlayer · 04/03/2011 17:39

Well done all!

Flatmouse that's wonderful!

I did second time round Level 1 Day 6 today. I have to have the sound turned low as it irritates me too much otherwise. I found myself wishing that instead of Jillian's prattle it had during the exercises.

I have found that the separation of my abdominal muscles has reduced (someone mentioned it up-thread). I used to be able to get a whole finger between, them, now I can't.

And I am wearing tops I haven't worn for ages as my tum was too bulgy. Grin
