Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy

knottyhair my knee just feels weak rather than the muscle-ache sort of feeling after day1. After having ds2 10 months ago I had a very weak hip especially when pushing the buggy with Ds1 on a buggy board. After a few weeks of pushing them to school every day my hip was fine so I think the exercise helped strengthen it as I had no choice but to carry on. My knee feels similar to how my hip did so was hoping that by persevering with the workout my knee would get stronger. It has been fine until Sunday when walking to the park!

BalloonSlayer · 23/02/2011 09:16

Glad you and yours are OK febes. What a dreadful thing!

We have a few friends in NZ and it has just dawned on us that we don't know if one set - although we know their address - are near Christchurch, my NZ geography is so bad!

BalloonSlayer · 23/02/2011 09:19

I shredded before breakfast this morning. Day 9 of Level 3!

I still found it dreadful but not quite as bad as doing it just after breakfast like I did the day before yesterday. I didn't manage at all yesterday due to half-termishness which really pissed me off.

I really hate level 3 and after my Day 10 I shall be so pleased that I only have to do it sporadically.

I am trying to eat a bit more healthily too. Ah except I am going to McDonalds for tea. Yeah well half term innit?

southeastastra · 23/02/2011 09:25

i'm going back to level 2 after doing yesterday - it just seems to target the areas most needed for me imo and i sweat just as much!

:( febes

notyummy · 23/02/2011 09:32

Knotty- I have the Banish Fat one and quite like it. I think on parts the cardio is harder than the Shred, but the muscle stuff is nowhere near as intense. Would make s good alternative to the Shred so you could alternate and not get bored.

ClaireDeLoon · 23/02/2011 10:19

febes hope you're all still OK

notyummy I was reading amazon reviews for BFBM and it seemed quite hardcore. Could you do it all the way through right from the start?

Need to do shred tonight as yesterday was day off. Tomorrow I'm starting pilates so will probably not shred then either.

Question - do you all do shred everyday or take days off?

DP said yesterday that he thinks my bum has changed shape. I asked if he meant bigger but apparently he meant perter. I can't see it myself so I think he was just being nice.

notyummy · 23/02/2011 10:27

Claire - I would describe myself as pretty fit and could do it all the way through straight away. It is split into 6 min sections and I find they vary quite a lot as to how hard they are - there are a couple that are really tough - but interspersed with some that are relatively easy, so overall I would say it is doable. It would be interesting to know how many of the commentors on Amazon have done the Shred, because in comparison I dont think it is as painful, just a bit harder on the cardio in a couple of places. (And longer overall if you do the whole thing.)

Labradorlover · 23/02/2011 11:18

Claire have taken days off, more to do with life/hangover than having a rest day. Done 11 days out of 14.
Day 2 level 2, used weights all the way through and not quite as bad as yesterday. Proper sweating.....

knottyhair · 23/02/2011 11:45

Claire, I normally aim for 6 days out of 7, although this week it's been less. If I get bored, I do a Davina DVD to break it up a bit. Notyummy, thanks, I'll give it a go next week I think.

Joby1970 · 23/02/2011 12:48

Claire - you should accept the compliment - us women do struggle sometimes to accept that people sometimes mean what they say lol

susall · 23/02/2011 13:07

Done level 1 and 2 on sunday then didnt sleep at all due to taking a sudafed tablet for a head cold, (why is it the liquid lets me sleep but the blooming tablets wont?) so didnt have any energy to do anything on monday.
Yesterday I managed 1 and 2 again (would have been 3 too but I ran out of time and had to get twins from nursery) then later on done 5/7 sections on the banish fat dvd.
Guess who got no/very little sleep last night again?
So having another day off due to tiredness, arghhh!!!
I really want to do the workouts, I miss not doing the workouts, damn Killian and her fat melting workouts, Davina never made me feel like this, ever!!!
I think I may have a Killian addiction, just need to get the eating under control and Im sorted.
Think I will do a food diary and take it to the dr's as there are more and more foods I cannot eat these days without pain and bloating eg wheat, pulses, cream, green vegetables, artificial sweetners and caffine (refuse to give that up but works like a laxitive for me so can be helpful).

flatmouse · 23/02/2011 16:20

Level 3 Day 3 completed. Very excited that i managed to complete first set of walking planks Natalie style, and the first set of plank row/leg raises Natalie style. (Still Anita on most of the rest!)

I'm sure my 6 pack is in there somewhere..... (under the layers and layers of fat!)

febes · 23/02/2011 21:44

Hi just wanted to let you know we are still ok. We have water, power and food. we are the lucky ones. I haven't really left the house except to walk to my sisters but it is a tragedy out there Sad

knottyhair · 23/02/2011 21:51

Febes, glad to hear you're OK and have the basics. Can't quite believe the images we're seeing here and can't stop thinking of everyone over there. Lots of love x

Momentarynamechange · 23/02/2011 21:55

Oh Febes, it must be heartbreaking Sad. I don't really know what to say Sad

Spoke to Dad this morning and friends from Christchurch are going up to stay with him in Nelson for a while as they are totally traumatised by everything Sad

Keep safe x

Ingles2 · 23/02/2011 22:35

Hi everyone...
sorry I haven't shown my face in so long, work took over my life for a while, but I've still been shredding 3 or 4 times a week.
I can see a difference now,
I have... drum roll please... a stomach muscle!
just the 1 mind you...more to come out of hiding soon.
but according to the scales I am not losing any weight Sad even though I'm only eating, a banana, an apple, soup for lunch and ordinary healthy dinner everyday..nothing else is touching my lips.
I'd like to recommend doing level 1 and 2 on alternate days though. I was starting to get knee trouble and thought I was going to have to stop, but this sorts it.
Keep going everyone.

Febes, hope you and yours are all ok x

YouCantTeuchThis · 24/02/2011 08:07

On D6/L1 - yesterday was a 'half-shred' as I was interrupted in circuit 2 and couldn't get back to it. Did go for a good ole stomp for some fresh air though.

I am noticing a huge difference already after only 5 days without bread - amazingly, my face looks less bloated!

It is about now that I always seem to lose momentum - for both the exercise and the diet, so I need LOTS of encouragment!

Glad everyone safe and well Smile

ClaireDeLoon · 24/02/2011 08:09

Febes it sounds very traumatic :(

I did day 7 level 1 last night. Starting to be able to get deeper into the squats etc. I think I need to increase my cardio to help with weight loss. Do you think I should just try to extra of the exercises in the shred or try something else?

BalloonSlayer · 24/02/2011 09:09

Febes it sounds terrible. Poor you, poor all of you Sad

flatmouse · 24/02/2011 09:15

YCTT keep going - you can do it! You know you want to!
Did L3 Day 4 this morning - can't believe how my upper body strength has improved.

Can't manage those jump lunges at all - i can jump but then i can't seem to lunge - legs just won't do it! Wondering if i'm trying to do it too fast so it'd be better to do less but with the jumps, or just go for the single lunges a la Anita.

And the carpet burns on the elbows are sore!

Febes thinking of you.

greenfig · 24/02/2011 09:58

Keep going YCTT! the fact that you're noticing change & that it's getting easier should be motivating for you. You & Claire are at about same stage so should be good support for each other.
Was really hungry last night after workout, harder to be disciplined with food. Done day 2 level 2 this am & finding it easier, especially on the knees. Tough on the shoulders though...

ClaireDeLoon · 24/02/2011 10:43

I'm doing lots of walking as well as the shred too YCTT. What are you doing diet wise? I'm following WW, 3 weeks in and 5lbs off, not miraculous but getting there slowly.

greenfig I find level 1 really tough on my shoulders (the squat/arm press thing is a killer and I only use 1kg weights)! Dreading level 2 now :o

knottyhair · 24/02/2011 11:05

Morning everyone! Everyone seems to be doing well Smile. I did a Davina DVD this morning just for a change - makes you realise how hard Jillian makes you work! Flatmouse, I had the same thing with the jumping lunges and just reverted to Anita stylee. Going back to Shred tomorrow (still back at Level 1 as it's been so sporadic this week but hoping next week to work back up to Level 3 by Thursday). Have a good day. Febes, still thinking of you x

BalloonSlayer · 24/02/2011 14:54

Well I did < klaxon > Day 10 of Level 3 this morning!

So guess I should be officially shredded. Smile

My new rule is going to be I must do one of each level every week, so minimum of 1 x L1, 1 x L2 and 1 x L3

I am so glad to get shot of Level 3.

How do I hate thee, Level 3, let me count the ways:

  • I hate that Natalie's legs seem to be doing something different to Jillian's for the mountain climber and I can't work out what.
  • I hate the way she says "different leg this time" on the jumping lunges when it doesn't make any difference what leg you start with as they are an alternate leg exercise - that confused me for days wondering what I was doing wrong.
  • I hate hate HATE the way she says with the scissor abs things "Just give me ten more . . . blahdy blahdy . . . yadda yadda . . . Gettysburg Address . . . one, two, three . . ." I've done ten by the time you've stopped gassing you MARE!
flatmouse · 24/02/2011 15:00

ROFL BalloonSlayer and < let's off some fireworks > well done for being shredded!

How i laughed at your hates of level 3 ... not noticed the mountain climber one as i always have head down at that point!

I had same confusion over "different leg this time" and had also clocked the "give me 10 more"!

As i have alot more inches (given up on weight) still to loose - i may just go back and be shredded from the start all over again once my 10 days are up at level 3. See if i can be more Natalie than Anita second time around!

Also wondering - those that are going back and doing the other levels again, are you making it harder eg incorporating the weights in the cardio?
