so today is Day 1 of Phase 1 and I have had bacon and mushrooms for breakfast, felt really naughty as it was fried, but that is what the book says!

I am struggling already with the no caffeine - everything else is fine. I LOVE my coffee and de caff just isnt hitting the spot, but I suppose I will get used to it.

I have taken my vitamins, chromium and B12.complex B and a barocca so hopefully a burst of energy will come my way soon.

Got lots to do in the house today and the dogs to walk later, so that will take my mind off anything food related. Have stocked up on cheese and salad and tuna fish to have just incase I am hungry.

Anyone else doing this? Going to keep this thread as my 'diary'

Frankly I wouldnt give up the coffee till you have got into it for a while. You will probably feel a bit headachey without giving up caffeine on top of it!

I did low carb very effectively without giving up caffeine, although I do switch to decaff after the first two cups of the day!

Lizzylou · 01/02/2011 09:56

I am starting this tomorrow, am going to go full on and give up caffeine too.
Mainly because I drink so much coffee and I hae started noticing my skin and sleep is affected.
I feel the need to cleanse Grin

Good luck!

ImFab · 01/02/2011 09:58

I have been doing this since November and have lost a stone or so.

dontdisstheteens · 01/02/2011 10:01

Ooo ooo. Please may I join you. The book is about twelve inches from me as I type. It has been for a while with no weight loss. I thunk I actually need to reread it and do it rather than admiring the beautiful pink cover!

JaxTellersOldLady · 01/02/2011 10:55

dontdiss yes you actively have to eat the food and read the book and exercise all at the same time. Grin come on, give it a go.

imfab well done! how ar eyou finding it? easy, hard, inbetween?

OP posts:
ImFab · 01/02/2011 13:22

I have found it easy really. The hard bit has been remembering what I can have and remembering to go shopping for the food.

I haven't been very well this last couple of days but I am not convinced it is due to the eating plan.

Foreverondiet · 01/02/2011 14:12

I started 10 days ago, and have lost half a stone in last 10 days, which is particularly impressive as I have been dieting since October (lost 2.5 stone altogether).

Am finding it easy but miss yoghurts! Am eating lots of vegetables, but can't bring myself to eat fat, due to 3 months on low fat diet (although managed avocado for lunch).

As I am only now 6lbs from goal weight am going to go to phase 2 after the 2 weeks are up, and will be introducing yoghurt first as thats what I miss the most!

FauxFox · 01/02/2011 16:19

I am on day 3 - bit headachey from lack of caffeine but otherwise OK!

Today I had cheese and ham for breakfast, tuna mayo salad for lunch and pecans for snacks. Dinner is butternut squash soup with crispy bacon and parmesan...yum!

Good luck Jax and Lizzy!

I'm hoping to lose 1- 1.5 stone asap!!

JaxTellersOldLady · 02/02/2011 07:51

I had to go to bed early last night as I had the headache from hell. Obviously the lack of caffeine... I am going to drink less caffeine but not cut it out all together as I would rather be able to concentrate on my diet than thinking about coffee/tea all day.

Woke up at 6am feeling good, not sluggish and ready to face the day. Love that feeling.

This morning I have had M&S corned beef, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and salald leaves for breakfast with a dollop of garlic mayo. I sat at the table and ate it like a good girl with my knife and fork and didnt do anything but eat. Stopped when I felt full.

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 02/02/2011 08:01

I am starting today!
I had next to no sleep so am in dire need of caffeine, but hey ho.

Will have ham and cheese for breakfast, something fishy for lunch and steak and salad for dinner.

Must go and drink some more water!

JaxTellersOldLady · 02/02/2011 08:04

stick near the loo today Lizzy! I dont think I have ever peed so much as yesterday.

Wink

hoping I get used to this and my bladder expands or something, I used to drink lots of water, but dont think I peed every 20 mins!

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 02/02/2011 08:05

Every 20mins??? Shock

I will be prepared.

Have you a headache today? I am a coffee addict so am a bit worried I will be in lots of pain with it

JaxTellersOldLady · 02/02/2011 10:10

no headache today, but I have had a coffee this morning. I only drink 'real' coffee so I will limit myself now instead of drinking a few many cups I will have 2 a day.

Sitting just now, catching up on emails and reading MN and having a little handful of nuts.

The peeing is better today.

I do pee a lot anyway, compared to lots of friends, but then I do drink a lot mostly.

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 02/02/2011 11:42

Sainsburys order came and I am stocked up on lovely things to eat.

Have had avocado, cheese and ham for breakfast along with about 4 pints of water.

Yep, been running to the loo a lot.

So far so good, I can't believe the lovely things you can eat. That is what I am concentrating on, the lovely things I can eat as opposed to the lovely things I can't.

JaxTellersOldLady · 02/02/2011 13:18

lizzy keep in mind that eventually you can add some more things to your diet, after the first few weeks, depending on how much you want to lose.

I am going to do phase 1 for a good few weeks I think.

I had sliced mozarella, stirfried cabbage, green beans, some garlic powder, pepper and a dollop of butter. It was delicious! Grin

Obviously not something that I would normally sling together at lunch time, but I am full up and not missing my usual boring sarnie at all.

Long may it last.

When I weighed myself yesterday and took my measurements I was shocked. Absolutely stunned at how fat I had let myself get.

Anyway, lets focus on the positives of today - I feel good, have done lots in the house, am clear headed and walked the dog, going to walk the puppy when I go to school later. Hoping this energy levels keeps up.

Only had 2 cups of coffee today, which is amazing for me - and copious large glasses of water.

OP posts:
JaxTellersOldLady · 02/02/2011 13:19

If you think about it lizzy, the continental style breakfast is similar to what you had this morning, so I will have that tomorrow and pretend I am somewhere warm and sunny. Smile

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 02/02/2011 13:30

YOu sound like you are really enjoying it Jax Smile

I had steak, mushrooms, watercress and rocket with full fat mayo for lunch. I have not had full fat mayo for years. Blimey, it was nice! I decided to treat myself as it is first day, tomorrow will prob be tinned tuna Grin

I am making bolognaise for dinner, will just leave out the spaghetti for me.

snowpoint · 02/02/2011 15:47

May I join you? I'm on day 9 and have lost 5lbs so far. I'm pleased with that, as nothing else seemed to be working for me. I have another 18lbs to go.

I'm doing it as a veggie, which is tough, but I'm determined to get through phase 1 before I think about reintroducing some brown rice or pasta.

I've felt fine so far but today went out for a bike ride and have felt dreadful since. I don't think I eat many calories on this diet (no more than about 1200 per day), and probably didn't have enough to fuel strenuous exercise.

JaxTellersOldLady · 02/02/2011 18:13

hi snowpoint of course you can join in, well done on the -5lb loss. that is great.

I'm not sure you are getting enough of what you need on this diet. Do you substitute the meat/fish protein with soya protein? Or just eat cheese (if you eat dairy) and veg/salad?

I was talking to a friend who isnt a big meat eater about this first phase and she couldnt even think about doing it.

Hope you feel better soon.

OP posts:
JaxTellersOldLady · 02/02/2011 18:14

Just had my supper. sausage, bacon, mushrooms and egg. I cant believe all the food you are allowed. Stuffed again now.

hope you all enjoy yours.

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 02/02/2011 18:18

Hello Snowpoint and well done on your loss so far.
Do you eat fish at all? What are you eating if not??

Jax, that sounds lovely. My bolognaise is cooked, made with Olive oil, no frylight anymore!

I had some walnuts as a mid-afternoon snack, like you Jax I cannot believe what you are allowed to eat.

I have brie in the fridge for tomorrow...hmmm.

snowpoint · 02/02/2011 20:39

thanks jax and lizzylou! I'm eating lots of tofu, which thankfully I love, and veggie sausages, eggs and cheese. I'm also eating nuts sparingly.

I don't eat fish, unfortunately. I just don't like it. I have a really good veggie low carb cookbook with lots of ideas. I think once I'm in phase 2 things will get easier. Have ordered lots of things from the low carb megastore and have found pasta for 5gs carbs per serving. I can cope with that!

Making broccoli, cauliflower and blue cheese soup for lunch tomorrow. Thai curry with tofu for dinner. Yum..

JaxTellersOldLady · 02/02/2011 21:15

Lizzy I also have brie for tomorrow, think I have overloaded on the sprouts and cabbage as my tum is rather upset this evening for want of a better word. But if that is the only 'bad' for today I can cope.

Snowpoint, I am not a big fish fan, but I have found that roasting it withlots of herbs and lemon and some olive oil works for me, doesnt taste as fishy. Grin

I have taken out a chicken to make tarragon chicken and some mince to make bolognaise and the faux shepherds pie. ooh I also roasted a butternut squash to make some soup tomorrow for lunch time. Cant wait.

The kids are in bed, dogs all walked, fed and now asleep, DH wont be home until very late tonight and normally I would hit the fridge/cupboards to see what I can find to eat but tonight I havent done that, I called my sis in law to congratulate her on her new baby and my Mum called to let me know how my Dad is in hospital, so that has taken up most of the evening.

Just got a nice cup of Rooibus tea and crap tv until bed with my kindle. I live life on the edge.

Lizzylou · 03/02/2011 09:55

Grin Jax, that sounds like me, except I went to bed at 8.15pm and watched Midsummer Murders Blush

Snowpoint, you sound like you are eating nice things! Yes, in phase 2 you will get more variety I expect.

I have had grilled bacon and mushrooms for breakfast, which was lovely.

No idea what to have for the rest of today, I keep changing my mind.

I have a butternut squash, I often make butternut squash and smoked bacon soup anyway (or veg soup), so I will not be changing much.

I am feeling headachey and drained, but that is the caffeine withdrawal I think.

JaxTellersOldLady · 03/02/2011 10:34

morning all! I had an avocado and a couple of delicious sausages (Debbie & Andrews) for breakfast although Waitrose/Sainsburys are also about 94% meat.

The dogs were hanging around me thinking they were getting a treat! no chance.

I have made my soup, tasted it, cant wait for lunch. God that is terrible but love this!

Have a hankering for choc brownies, I bloody knew I shouldnt have watched that "baking made easy" programme. bugger. Oh well, another glass of water down.

I do feel like I have a slight head cold this morning, but ffs, surely all the vitamins, minerals and veg I am eating should make any germs bugger off! Hmm

Still feel good though.

1 cup of coffee so far today.
