so today is Day 1 of Phase 1 and I have had bacon and mushrooms for breakfast, felt really naughty as it was fried, but that is what the book says!

I am struggling already with the no caffeine - everything else is fine. I LOVE my coffee and de caff just isnt hitting the spot, but I suppose I will get used to it.

I have taken my vitamins, chromium and B12.complex B and a barocca so hopefully a burst of energy will come my way soon.

Got lots to do in the house today and the dogs to walk later, so that will take my mind off anything food related. Have stocked up on cheese and salad and tuna fish to have just incase I am hungry.

Anyone else doing this? Going to keep this thread as my 'diary'

Sorry Forever, I underestimated your problem. Agree with Jax, it is no point being slim and ill!
5lbs will go before you know it.

Just had Chicken, celeriac dauphinoise, green beans and asparagus.
The boys and DH also had carrots (and apple and blackberry crumble and cream).

Foreverondiet · 13/02/2011 18:35

Although I have solved the problem for today (prunes) unless I change the diet it will just reoccur... yes was thinking about porridge with combo of normal oats and oats bran.

JaxTellersOldLady · 14/02/2011 11:00

I am slimmer! I can see it in my ankles, my tummy and my watch is looser on my wrist. RESULT. H?avent weighed, but I can FEEL it!

Feel so much better, have managed to avoid all pitfalls so far and there has been lots of temptations this past week. Not drunk alcohol, didnt go out last night and I feel great for this.

My sister called me boring, but I said "If you had more than 3 stone to lose you wouldnt cheat either!" and gave her the death stare. Doesnt help that my sister is perfectly slim and although older than me looks fab for her age (52) She then apologised and said I was doing brilliantly well. Shock Lol, if you knew my family you would know this is a major achievement!

Lizzylou · 14/02/2011 11:45

Yay, Jax, well done you. I think you've proven how flexible this diet is, and also how much willpower we can muster in the face of temptation!

I am hopeful, another 1lb off. Will see what happens tomorrow.

I do feel good on this diet, am thinking that my body is just getting used to it and I know how I retain water anyway.

My Mom's been doing it for 5 days and has lost 4lbs, and she has cheated and had wine!
She has more to lose and no womb though Wink

JaxTellersOldLady · 14/02/2011 12:18

You know, I did lighterlife about 4 years ago and it was hell, fine when I was drinking the shakes but having to cook for the rest of the family was awful and my senses were hightened to industrial strength. I could smell Tiger Bread the second it was brought into the house!

But with this diet I dont feel like I am missing out at all. The thought that if I really want something sweet I can have whipped cream with chopped nuts and a sprinkling of cocoa is keeping me going, but I dont really want it.

Also on LL I ended up with low blood pressure and faint/dizzy near the end of the 100 days.

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 14/02/2011 12:33

That is so wierd Jax. My Mom rang me to say she'd been to see a woman about starting Lighterlife, I told her not to and do the IPD plan instead!

JaxTellersOldLady · 14/02/2011 13:33

ooh spooky! Dont get me wrong, lighterlife works, but you are starving yourself and it really isnt good for you in the long run. Besides, as soon as I started eating again I put on weight big time. More than I lost and my shape changed so that I had a massive spare tyre, which I didnt have pre LL.

I have plenty of fat weight to lose and I am finding this diet far easier than I thought I would. Although I am not doing no caffeine, but less caffeine. Wink

Ohhhhhhh, snowpoint here with a temp name change. So this is day 21 of the diet and I'm not feeling great today. Really light headed and dizzy. Went away for the weekend, and stuck to the diet as much as possible, although I think I might have accidentally had sugar in a french salad dressing with my omelette. Really annoying as I tried so hard and resisting the french fries, and the croissant hotel breakfast was a killer.

Also had two wine spritzers on Friday night, felt trollied after just two!!

Going to see a nutritionist this week. I just don't think this WOE is going to suit me long term. Not eating fish or meat means that my diet is so restricted to dairy things, and I'm getting horrid furry dairy breath, and am so heartily sick of all things eggs and cheese. Think I will stay low carb, but start to reintroduce good carbs a bit quicker than planned.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

JaxTellersOldLady · 15/02/2011 10:05

snowqpoint u are doing so well, but if you think introducing good carbs would help you then go for it.

I had a protein shake for breakfast today that my nephew had for weight training. chocolate flavour, to be honest it wasnt that nice, think I will stick to eggs in future.

OP posts:
Foreverondiet · 15/02/2011 10:14

snowpoint this way of eating is not supposed to be followed long term. You have done the 2 weeks of phase 1 so why not move to phase 2 and start with introducing legumes & pulses and also more dairy like greek yoghurt/cottage cheese whih are both low carbs...

carlywurly · 15/02/2011 15:55

thanks forever and jax, I've just posted an essay on another thread, but I've decided I'm going to gradually increase good carbs from next week and then move on to a low GI plan which the nutritionist is going to devise for me, which lets me have good carbs alongside a larger selection of fruit, veg and salad. I can start cutting down on the fat then, which I'm actually looking forward to. Hmm

I have so much respect for all of you carrying on with this, it's tough, and I really wanted to stick it out. I think 4 weeks of phase 1 will be enough for me though! Maybe I'd find it easier if I ate meat and fish.

Lizzylou · 16/02/2011 07:37

Carly, I think you've done amazingly considering you don't eat meat and fish!

I have lost 5 lbs on the first 2 weeks, which I am v happy with. Only another stone to go and then I'll be very happy Smile

I am in swing of things and actually enjoying it!

Cheeser · 16/02/2011 10:58

carly, sounds like reintroducing carbs will benefit you. It is tough going for me, a bone fide carnivore, so I can't imagine what it must be like to be doing this with no meat or fish whatsoever. Hope your nutritionist works out something that will really work for you Smile

I?m on day 7, so I weighed this morning. Down by 4lbs since starting weight, which isn?t much and a bit disappointing tbh, as apart from two glasses of wine one night I have stuck to it religiously. Unless there were maybe some hidden carbs I had in some sausages at work? or maybe a dressing somewhere? So I was rather down about that? but then I measured myself, and woah! 18.5cm loss in total, across my bust, waist, hips, tummy and thighs. I am amazed. I?ve felt like I am thinner for a few days, can?t get back into my skinny jeans yet but hopefully it?ll happen in the next few weeks. So I am even more determined now to stick to it. Am going out tomorrow night so I may have one or two vodkas with soda but that?ll be it.

Lizzylou · 16/02/2011 12:40

Cheeser 4lbs in 7 days is fab, I only lost 5lbs in 2 weeks!
And I didn't cheat at all!!!

Glad you're happier now you've measured, wish I'd have done that now.

JaxTellersOldLady · 16/02/2011 13:02

cheeser your loss is great, be proud of yourself! I weighed on nephews scales and it looked like I hadnt lost more weight - but then I havent used those scales before, so who knows.

I KNOW I have lost inches though, my watch is loose, as are my rings and my jeans are hanging off me.

I was alone in parents house last night and the thought of the salad drawer full of chocolate things was driving me insane, so I heated up a bowl of chilli (minus the kidney beans) and some brocolli and scoffed it around 10.30 last night Blush

It helped, this morning I feel fine again.

Had breakfast, drinking lots of water today, I didnt yesterday and felt bad for it.

Well done everyone, there is much less of us already! Grin

carlywurly · 16/02/2011 13:26

Thanks all, I'm still here and feel a lot better today. Still on phase one, have just munched through a gorgeous halloumi and walnut salad. I will definitely carry on with this kind of lunch, I don't get that horrid mid afternoon slump that I used to get after a sandwich.

Done a Shred workout this morning and some light jogging so feeling a lot better. Got out my GI cookbook and really looking forward to getting on with that. I guess I'll need to start decreasing my fat intake once I reintroduce carbs.

Well done Cheeser, lizzylou and everyone on your inch loss! That's so much more meaningful than loss on the scales!! I can't wait to get back into my jeans. Got a holiday booked for July so that's my long term target now. About 20lbs to go.

JaxTellersOldLady · 17/02/2011 11:21

glad you are still here carly

I stepped on Mums scales this morning, it says I have lost a STONE! since I started, but who knows really? I must stop using all these different scales, but I do look and feel slimmer so thats fine with me.

Not had breakfast yet, didnt feel hungry, but off to make something now.

OP posts:
carlywurly · 17/02/2011 16:05

A stone!!! Jax, that's amazing. Well done you!!! It obviously suits you.

Still low carbing today, and will until my GI plan comes through. I think I must have been a bit off colour the other day as I'm full of energy now. Going to do the shred again this evening and have spent hours in the garden shifting leaves this afternoon. What to have for dinner??

Lizzylou · 17/02/2011 16:44

Jax, that is amazing!
Well done you.

I am having the butternut squash soup Carly.

Funny, today I haven't been hungry at all.
Most unlike me!

JaxTellersOldLady · 17/02/2011 18:21

Thank you. I know that lo carbing really works for me from when I did "Maintenance" on Lighterlife a few years ago
I wasnt particularly hungry either lizzy but have eaten.

breakfast was 2 lovely sausages and a scrambled egg (good job I love it) and as I had it quite late in the morning, I didnt have lunch, but have just had a chicken breast (slow cooked) with stir fry veggies, very nice, not entirely sure I am 'allowed' what was in them;
peppers, onions, aubergine, courgette and some other things but hey ho, scoffed the lot and am full now.

Driving back to England tomorrow, so who knows what wacky things I will eat on the way home! Grin

Oh, confession... last night my Mum got a small portion of chips to go with her steak and I ate one, well I say ate, but I actually spat it into the bin as it tasted horrid. I have no idea why I did it, I saw it, fancied it and put it in my mouth, but I dont like chips! FFS, its not the end of the world I know, but WHY? There has been a bloody fridge full of chocolate the whole time I have been here and I havent touched a bit. Blush

I am hoping that when I go home my 'thinner me' jeans will fit again. The ones I have up here are hanging off me now.

OP posts:
carlywurly · 17/02/2011 19:42

Had mushroom and half an aubergine with some halloumi cheese baked on top and a big salad. For the second night running.. So tasty.. I have become a bit addicted to halloumi! Grin

The dc's had cheesy chips while we were out today and I managed to resist them. Tbh they didn't look that great. Have just done the shred workout and could really munch on a biscuit. Distracting myself by coming on here!

JaxTellersOldLady · 18/02/2011 17:58

phew! home now.

not done too badly today, came home and stepped on my scales and have definitely lost almost 11lbs according to my scales, which is fine.

I also measured all my bits and have lost loads of inches over my whole body. I am amazed. But now I think well I can have a little something, but I know I cant yet.

OP posts:
JaxTellersOldLady · 19/02/2011 18:31

I have had lots of meat today, and a plate of veggies.

Made some butternut squash soup for tomorrow lunchtime.

Doing ok today, although I am tired and very grumpy.

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 21/02/2011 12:15

Have managed a weekend away with no slipping (though I did have a couple of black coffees Blush), had a gorgeous seafood platter yesterday which was just heaven, oh to eat like that every day!

JaxTellersOldLady · 21/02/2011 15:53

lizzy dont fret over the coffees, I am not ditching caffeine, but I have to say I can certainly 'feel' when I have had a coffee.

Well done on your weekend away and no cheating.

Must go rummage and see what is for dinner tonight.
