iluv Are you getting unbearably excited about your skiing hol? dh is off on Saturday, he came in tonight raving about how much snow has fallen.

Shaxx · 26/01/2011 22:37

Justaminute Smile
Well done you! I can't take t he credit for that message unfortunately, as someone else said it earlier in the thread but I really like it and it really motivates me.
I'm glad my reminder of it helped.

I'm hungry but I refuse to eat at this time. Normally, I'd just go to bed but dh has gone to play tennis (yes really, at this time, the nutjob) and didn't take his keys.

Time for another hot drink methinks....

iluvcake · 27/01/2011 10:47

justaminute, so glad you are feeling a bit more positive.

I can identify with how you were feeling though. For years, I have said "I'll never be slim" but I have lost more weight on here in the last few months than I've lost in years. I tried on some clothes this morning that I haven't been able to get into for ages and they all fit and look good! So, it can be done!! As you say, each little biscuit adds up so the opposite is true-each time you resist that biscuit it will all contribute to your weight loss.

Yes, it can seem like slow going but you WILL get there if you carry on with what you're doing. Just keep going.

I AM really excited about skiing on SundayGrin. Sounds like your DH had a good time! Where did he go?

I feel less achey and my throat is ok today (dosed up on echinechea/lemsip/first defence nasal spray!). I just need my neck to be ok now.

iluvcake · 27/01/2011 10:49

Oops, misread your post there. Your DH is going on Saturday-sorry!

Shaxx · 27/01/2011 11:26

Who can help me with my challenge today?

Due to some biffing (toast, packet of walkers crisps) I only have 670cals for lunch, snack and dinner.
Any ideas to help me stay within my range please?

justaminute · 27/01/2011 11:42

Shaxx, since you helped me yesterday I?ll rise to your challenge today.

Yesterday I had:
Lunch - M&S pea & ham soup
Snack ? Clementine & apple
Dinner. - Small bowl of pasta with pesto & some halved cherry tomatoes and a side of green salad
If I?ve logged it correctly on Food focus it was under 600 cals, was delish too.

Iluv ? dh is off to Zellemsee in Austria. Lots of snow there apparently. He?s not making me Envy at all!

thedogwalker · 27/01/2011 11:53

Hi all

Thanks so much for your kind words and the encouragement to get back on track. So come on Thinbride, lets get back on track together Smile.

Well it is only lunchtime but I have been good so far today, which is already making me feel better, hated that bloated feeling I had with eating naff food. So mad with myself for slipping.

Anyway I will weigh myself tomorrow to show myself that I can't hide and I have to face up to my biffing. So fresh start today and hopefully I will have a good week. My mini goal was to be 10 stone by end of February, I was 10 st 7 lbs, but will have to see the damage tomorrow, but I will still try and get close to my goal for the end February.

Thanks for all the support, it really does make a difference.

Iluvcake, hope you rneck gets better, wishing you lots of get well vibes and I hope your holiday is a great one Smile.

Take care everyone xx

Justaminute - my MIL lives in the Tyrol and has been to Zell Am See several times - she says it's lovely. Hope your dh has a blast. And glad you're gettin back into it.

Iluvcake - great advice and glad you're feeling better - hope your neck is OK.

Shaxx - you can do it! Good suggestions from justaminute - if you go soup, fruit for snack and a slightly smaller portion of any healthy meal (pasta, couscous etc with little added fat, you should be fine.

TDW - I bet it won't be as bad tomorrow as you think. You're doing the right thing getting on those scales though. At least you weigh less than me!

Had my day off the Shred today. Had a "brisk walk" to Waitrose for the food shop, got to the till and realised I'd left my purse at home Blush, so had another "brisk walk" back home to pick it up! So every cloud! Even though I was decidedly hot & bothered by the time I got home.

In case anyone's interested, the "fish & chips" we had last night was lovely! Link is here for the recipe - www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1500/healthy-fish-and-chips-with-tartare-sauce

Shaxx · 27/01/2011 13:08

Thanks Justaminute!
I've had a rustle around the cupboards (too cold to go out!) and found a can of baxters healthy lentil and tomato soup. Hooray!
1/2 a can is 106 cals.
apple and clementine for snack
I looked in my goodfood low fat recipe book for a chicken dish and found one for 260 cals per serving. I'll have that with some brocolli and a couple of new pots.
I'm so impressed that it can be done quite easilySmile

TWD Well done for choosing to feel better! I know myself its so easy to start eating crap and I always wonder why I do it as it only makes me feel rubbish.

Knotty thanks for that link. That looks brilliant. The tartare sauce looks amazing. I'm def trying that.

Shaxx · 27/01/2011 13:27

I've decided that I do not like canned soup. Bleurgh. I ate it but never buying it again.

knottyhair · 27/01/2011 13:33

They can be a bit insipid can't they? Have you got freezer space? I try and make some once a week and freeze in small portions - these are 2 favourites - www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1094667/italian-vegetable-soup www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/333614/red-lentil-chickpea-and-chilli-soup. As you can probably guess, I quite like this site!

Shaxx · 27/01/2011 13:46

Knotty I love that site! The recipes are always fairly easy and tasty.
I've bought a couple of their books too (one pot dishes and low fat feasts).

Those soups look good.
I've just been looking at this one
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/889668/vietnamese-prawn-rice-and-dill-soup
Looks v. yum

I definitely need to do more soups.

knottyhair · 27/01/2011 14:05

That looks really nice! I love their little books -I've got the low fat feasts one, and also the 101 Healthy Eats.

Buda · 27/01/2011 16:10

Hi all. Liking the links for nice recipes - thanks. Need some inspiration.

Glad you are all still plodding on.

Have DS home from school today as he fell asleep on the sofa yesterday at 6pm! He is 9 and that is unheard of. So I figured he is shattered and could do with a quiet day. A few bugs doing the rounds so a day at home may be just what the doctor ordered. Have just been curled up on the sofa watching Prince of Persia and have played some games as well.

Food wise I have battled on! For some reason when DS is off I always think that means I can eat crap. Hmm Didn't today. Porridge with mandarins and almonds for breakfast. Rye bread with tuna and sweetcorn for lunch. Apple and yoghurt for snack and also had some popcorn. Just plain salted.

Dinner last night was a bit of a disaster for various reasons so need to make it up to DH tonight! Have some mince so may do Spag Bol or Savory Mince with mash.

The Good Food stuff is nice isn't it. I do a chicken and chickpea dish from there that is very tasty.

Getting a bit nibbly so off to make a cuppa.

justaminute · 27/01/2011 16:46

I'll second the chilli, chickpea and lentil soup - i use a whole can of chickpeas (can't be faffed with freezing them) which bulks it out a bit more and dh will happily consider it filling enough (with a chunk of bread)for an evening meal - praise indeed from him as he likes his meat!

knottyhair · 27/01/2011 16:57

Sounds like a lovely day with DS, Buda. I sometimes wish I could keep my DS off just to have a snuggly day. And well done on not eating crap. I've had soup & a small sandwich for lunch (just ham, no butter). Have got pasta with a bit of chorizo, cabbage, leeks and some half fat creme fraiche for tea - I've attempted to work out the calories, and I think I'm OK if I don't have a huge portion! It's hard when it's cold! Have to keep thinking that it's weigh-in day tomorrow. Back on the Shred in the morning as well. Have a nice evening, everyone.

knottyhair · 27/01/2011 16:57

Good idea, justaminute.

dinkystinky · 27/01/2011 17:08

Hello all, busy day at work today - and busy day on the board I see! Well done to all those zoning away. Iluv - hope your neck gets better. Try a warm bath and a couple of ibuprofen - if its muscular will ease up.

Have had a relatively good day - pilates, porridge and green tea for breakfast, quick bodycombat at lunch, home made soup (about an hour ago) for lunch and some mini breadsticks and dried apple slices. Am going to have 3 jaffa cakes as my treat today - and some fish and salad for dinner. I'm wild me..

Shaxx · 27/01/2011 17:11

Bah! I just cooked cookies with the kids and had one. Not the end of the world I guess but am annoyed anyway.

I'm going to menu plan for next week and I'm including Knottys fish and chips, that chickpea soup and that vietnamese soup.
I think if I have proper nice tasty food to look forward to then I'm more likely to stick it out so that I'm 'deserving' of that meal. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else but it seems to work for me (usually!)

Buda · 27/01/2011 17:40

Hi dinky - was wondering where you were!

Shaxx - one cookie is ok. But no more!

I am going to do the menu planning as well. It is much easier to stick to and you don't feel deprived if you have something really tasty.

knottyhair - it was a nice day! I do it occasionally. I think sometimes they just need a chilling day. He had a busy weekend so didn't get any time to just veg really and I think he needs it. He is an only child and is used to being quiet and either just playing on the playstation or watching tv and he didn't really get much of that over the weekend. It is a LONG time since he has fallen asleep at that time if not sick.

It's spag bol for dinner. Will just have a small amount of wholewheat pasta.

knottyhair · 27/01/2011 17:49

Dinky, wow, pilates for breakfast and I love "a quick body combat at lunch", that's amazing!
Shaxx, I know exactly what you mean about knowing you've got something nice to look forward to, it really makes a difference. Think I might give the vietnamese soup a go as well.

knottyhair · 27/01/2011 17:51

Buda, my DS is an only as well, so I know exactly what you mean. Perhaps I should do it, but not sure DP would be impressed! Mmmm, spag bol....

Buda · 28/01/2011 08:15

I forgot it was weigh in day!!!!! Sub-conscious telling me something?

I have had numerous cups of tea and breakfast. Damn.

Am about to hop in shower so will maybe brave a peek after that. And they I will do a first thing weigh in tomorrow.

Have been trying to persuade Cyb back on another thread.

Good luck with all your weigh-ins.

MmeLindt · 28/01/2011 08:34

Hi guys. Am thinking that The Zone may be a good place for me to hang out.

dinkystinky · 28/01/2011 08:50

Morning all and welcome back MmeLindt - the Zone is a lovely place, full of healthy minds and bodies virtuously omming (rather than nomming) away...

Sadly havent been there this week so have a 0.5lb gain to report. Know why this is as had a few biffing incidents and due to shoulder/neck crap havent been exercising as much as would do usually, so back into the zone I head to shift it. Today's plan is grande decaf skinny latte and porridge for breakfast, run at lunchtime, home made veg soup and some chicken for lunch, fish and veg stirfry for dinner. And LOTS of water, green tea, 2 satsumas and 2 jaffa cakes for snacks.

Those recipes sound delicious - will definitely be trying the chickpea chilli soup thingy.
