thinbride, I had to put the phone down on my mum because she laughed at me when I said I was having a string quartet (we got married in a hotel).

Also, one of my aunties got really funny as she wasn't being "picked up by a wedding car" from her home-Hmm She was just a normal guest, no even part of the wedding party!

iluvcake · 21/01/2011 15:36

Gaaah!!

Have just come back in the from the school run, glanced at laptop and thought that had not posted so pressed it again!

SorryBlush.

iluvcake · 21/01/2011 15:41

Was also going to say, have what you want, it's your day! You sound as if you won't stand any nonsense, so good for you!

I had fruit cake as I was told that's what is the normHmm, I still wish I'd had one of those gigantic chocolate creations .

justaminute · 21/01/2011 17:53

iluv - sadly it is the same scales and time of day. I'm hoping it's water retention as af is due soon.

thinbride - We had a sponge/ fruit combo. We came back from our 2 week honeymoon to discover my mum had "saved" the half eaten sponge layer for us - shame it had gone green! My mum is a bit short on common sense - bless her.

knottyhair · 21/01/2011 19:35

Justaminute - don't underestimate the power of AF!

iluvcake · 21/01/2011 19:54

I agree! Some people (or rather, women!) can fluctuate by up to half a stone before and during AF.

dinkystinky · 21/01/2011 21:10

Thinbride - we had the whinging about fruitcake from DH's side of the family too. So what we did was have our lovely chocolate sponge fruit cake decorated with flowers and berries - and bought a M&S fruit cake which we left on the side for anyone who wanted that instead. To be honest, there wasnt much of an uptake of the fruit cake. But it shut up some of DH's family. However there were still loopy aunts who were demanding button holes and cake to take home the next day Hmm Just plan it how you want and rise above it all.

thedogwalker · 22/01/2011 12:48

Hi all

Thinbride, I agree with the others, rise above it all. Its your's and your DP's wedding, so have what you both want. They've had their wedding and now its your turn. Makes it much easier aswell when you are paying for it Grin. I wish you luck, but stick to your guns love, I did and I loved my wedding day, everything how I wanted it.

I know this might sound bad, but my niece has 2 young boys and they are really noisey and boisterous and they wouldn't have been able to sit through the church ceremony and I didn't want to be saying my vows listening to children wailing. So no children under 5 were invited Shock, which actually only cut out 5 great nephew and nieces who didn't know who I was anyway. My Mum was so against it, not happy at all, but I stuck to my guns and my day was a happy one Grin.

I wish you luck.

Hope everyone is in the zone and being good. I had a biff day on friday after staying the same, but am back on track now. Think my portion sizes were too big, so have cut them down.

take care all x

Hi everyone. Managed to watch the Shred last night (oh well done me!) and plan to try it tomorrow morning. Had a good day so far - poached egg on toast for breakfast, banana for a snack and made a vegetable soup for lunch. We're out tonight though seeing a friend's band so I'm trying to plan in having a couple of drinks - think I'll go for 2 halves of lager or 2 gin & slimlines, see how I feel. I've signed up to Livestrong Myplate thingy, and it tells me I need 1487 cals per day without exercise to lose 1lb a week, so I'm trying that to see if it works. You input any exercise you do and it alters your daily calorie allowance so it just helps me keep track, plus recording everything I eat stops me mindlessly picking! Have a good weekend everyone.

dinkystinky · 22/01/2011 13:45

Brr its so cold out there! Its driving me to calorific food - had a home made bacon roll this morning for breakfast, miso soup and some olive bread and mackerel pate for lunch and dinner this evening will be homemade fish pie and peas. I'm currently baking up some date flapjacks for DH and the boys - must resist...

My Personal trainer has hurt her neck and back so no early morning PT session tomorrow - will have to force myself out for a run too in the cold. Aargh.

knottyhair · 22/01/2011 15:00

Blimey, a run in this weather! You're more disciplined that I am Dinky.

Shaxx · 22/01/2011 16:33

Thinbride I agree with everyone else. Stick to your guns (without falling out with anyone Smile) and you'll have a brill day.

I've not been so good today. I was feeling a bit shakey today. I don't know why but hopefully not coming down with anything. So, I just ate loads of toast and other things. Not good but I feel better now. I think I've shaken off that cough so I can get back to exercising again. Hooray!

Good luck with your run Dinky!

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 23/01/2011 07:32

Morning all, hope everyone has been biff free?

I had a glass of wine last night as a treat and a packet of WW tortilla chips.

This is the first day i have had my tastebuds back propelry and im actually looking forward to my food today.

Shaxx i hope you feel better soon, i still have a lovely hacking cough im trying to shift. Dp has been burning up all night and has woken up with sore legs below the knee and got dizzy and blanked out in the bathroom (last he knew he wsa having a wee, next he is sittin on the hall floor?) So got to keep an eye on him today.

knottyhair · 23/01/2011 10:48

Shaxx - hope you feel better soon. Look after yourself.
Thinbride - hope your DP is OK, and that your cough shifts soon!

Did the Shred this morning and really enjoyed it! But my god, I know I've done it! Am intending to do it every day this week to try and kickstart things - we shall see! Have a good day everyone.

Shaxx · 23/01/2011 12:41

Thanks! - I feel fine now. Got AF today so I think thats all it was. I was prob low on iron or something. I'm comfort eating a bit today but am trying not to overdo it.

Thinbride your dp sounds terrible. Hope he gets better soon. Its really demanding on us when we have to look after the dps as well as the kids. Make sure you remember to look after yourself too.

Well done Knotty. I'm going to restart Shred tomorrow.

Hope everyones having a good day!

Buda · 24/01/2011 09:42

Morning all.

Well as you might have guessed by my absence I have been crap. Again. What is bloody well wrong with me? And I feel SO fat. Have developed yet another fat roll of fat around my middle. Yuck.

Went to friend's for dinner on Thursday and had a lovely evening and drank and ate far too much. Had hangover on Friday and was out for lunch so had pasta. The weekend went on like that I am afraid.

So. Monday again.

Have had porridge for breakfast. There is a guy here fixing the showers so once he is gone I am going to walk the dogs. It is sort of snowing. Am hoping it goes away!

No social events to knock me off course until Saturday night. Going to Burns Night.

Will exercise every day and drink loads of water and green tea.

Well done to those of you who are sticking to your plans. Throw some willpower this way please!

dinkystinky · 24/01/2011 10:02

Morning all. Buda - it happens. I too had a biffing weekend - shoulder and neck really acting up (had physio on Thursday and has been much worse since) so no exercise, and lots of mindless snacking. But its Monday today so onwards and zone-wards.

I want everyone finding themselves slipping/biffing to do the following:

  • meal plan: plan your 3 meals, 2 healthy small snacks and one small treat for today
  • drink: lots of water
  • exercise: put it in your diary and stick to it. Dust off that shred and do it. Go for a walk. Whatever you can do, just do it.
  • give yourselves a pat on the back this evening for sticking to the plan.
knottyhair · 24/01/2011 10:09

Buda - you'll get back into it! Today is another day.
Good advice, Dinky. I've managed to meal-plan all weekend and for today so far. Did the Shred yesterday and this morning. But then I've only just started, so am full of new keenness (is that even a word?). It's keeping it going over the longhaul that's hard.

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 24/01/2011 10:17

I too have had a not so good weekend, not been majorly bad but bad enough. But today i am back on track and have thus far had blueberries and porridge for breakfast, im going to have a prawn and noodle stirfry for lunch and lots of fruit and a bowl of cereal for dinner (at work tonight).

I also want to shred tomorrow after work.

Budda, think of the weigh in on friday and stay on track, do you have a "fat" photo of yourself or something particularly unflattering to help keep you motivated if you stick it too the fridge?

Buda · 24/01/2011 11:51

LOL thinbride. Every photo of me is a fat one!

I am so mad with myself as I was doing well last week.

Aim is to get through today. Forgot am going to coffee at a friend's house and I know she has made cake. Sigh. I will NOT succumb!

Turkey chilli planned for dinner.

Took the dogs for a nice long walk. Very cold! But clear blue skies and sunshine. Good for the vit D!

iluvcake · 24/01/2011 13:30

Hi all.

Buda, could you take some fruit/oatcakes to your friend's house or failing that, just have a sliver of cake?

I have had a crap weekend too. My meals are always healthy-I just can't seem to stop eating between meals. We were in M&S on Saturday and I couldn't resist buying some cake and chocolate. My cravings are REALLY bad at the moment. Have got rid of all the sugar and biscuits now but I still keep looking to see if I can find anything I might have hiddenHmm. I weighed myself this morning and I had put on two poundsShock.

dinky, sorry to hear about your neck and shoulder-that sounds grim. Hope it feels better soon. I have also done something-to my ankle. Think I was a bit too energetic in my street dancing classBlush-knew I was too old for it! Wanted to exercise over weekend but everytime I started to run/jump my ankle gave way. I've also got cystitis Sad-at least it's making me drinks lots of water!!

Anyway, Monday always feels like a fresh start. I think because we weigh in on a friday, I give myself permission to biff over the weekend-anyone feel like this? I'm going to dig out my Paul Mckenna CD-am sure it helps.

Buda · 24/01/2011 13:46

Well tried to go to my friends for coffee but gave up! She lives in a big apartment complex and the security guy wouldn't let me park!! Obv lots of spaces are for specific apartments but there have always been free ones. New security company and wouldn't let anyone park even in free spaces. Was so not in the mood that I gave up! Serious pmt today.

At least I won't be tempted by the cake!

knottyhair · 24/01/2011 14:23

Dinky & iluvcake - hope your injuries get better, look after yourselves!
Buda, sorry your afternoon didn't work out, the security guy sounds like a right jobsworth.
I've just made some sultana muffins and worked out that I could have half a one and still be within my target for today, so I'm enjoying it now! Tomorrow is my friend's birthday and she's invited a few people round after school pick-up for birthday cake. I'm having to plan again, so I can have half a slice without feeling bad. At least I know how many calories are in it as I'm making it for her. Good luck for the week everyone!

thedogwalker · 24/01/2011 18:06

Hi all

well I also need to join the biffing clan, had a really naughty weekend, just couldn't help myself. Been full of cold and DH had to do the weekly shop, didn't help that he bought a baileys cheesecake and came home with a mcdonalds and lots of chocolate. So I just had to eat it all.

I've been back on the straight and narrow today.

Knotty, you are doing really well, putting me to shame, I will be good for the rest fo the week.

Hope everyone is well, and good luck for the week x

iluvcake · 24/01/2011 18:34

knotty, well done for including your muffin intake in your allowance!

I've had a better afternoon. Rye bread and salmon/yoghurt for lunch. Snack of oatcakes&tsp peanut butter. I'm starving so have had two clementines. I've got a headache & the shakes but this is bound to be sugar withdrawal symptoms.

AM DETERMINED not to give in.
