Thank you Norma!

Littlefish · 19/01/2011 09:56

Lucky - that's fantastic! I can't imagine what it will feel like one Saturday when you step on those scales and it says a 9 at the beginning. Hold your nerve this week and be good!

My mum has been anorexic for much of my life (currently recovered). I know that my food issues stem from that, but I would still rather be overweight, than caught in the complete hell of anorexia.

sweetheart · 19/01/2011 10:16

Good Morning Hope you are all well today!

gibberish - WOW! 4.5Ib is amazing, well done!

lee congrats on having you baby home*

blondes I know they aren't really proper cheese but I have found that cheesestrings are only 2pp. I usually have them in the fridge anyway for the kids but they are a good snack for me too.

Froot ummm off to hunt out those venison sausages - I checked my usual ones the other day and they are 4pp each!

willaby Good luck!

Lucky Fab news on 9 stone something - I can't wait to get back there - probably going to take me about 3 months if I'm good! At the moment I'm consentrating on getting to 10 stone something. Also I don't think your interfering at all - thank you very much for all the info it's really valuable to have you on hand for info.

re what you said about that girl. I know a few people who are under weight and really struggle to put anything on and it is as much of a problem if not worse than having to diet - they have to put all sorts of crap food into their bodies just to try and gain some weight. One of the massive plus points of being a dieter is hopefully that it makes you eat really good healthy food.

Right - WI day for me tonight, I'm hoping for a 2Ib loss and really hope I haven't stuffed it up by eating cake mix - still I've barely touched my weekly points so it should be ok.

Good luck everyone today xxx

NormaSknockers · 19/01/2011 10:22

Good luck for WI today sweetheart :)

sweetheart · 19/01/2011 10:27

Thank you Norma

Also forgot to say I think I saw ww ready meals in Morrisons on special offer for about 70p the other day!

sparkle101 · 19/01/2011 10:58

Happy birthday starving hope you have a lovely day.

Am having a crisis, went to harvester yesterday and although I made wise food choice for main course I let myself down with huge pud and various unhealthy salad toppings. I'm off to ask tomorrow so another not great dinner. Worked out tomorrow I need to use 13 of my weekly points. Yesterday probably used the rest of my weekly points if not more. Feel really downheartened like I have so let myself down. I didn't even want pudding when it came out but started reading the menu from the back so set my heart on it. Why haven't I got any self control. Why am I so crap?!?!?

Sorry for the whinge ladies!

StarvingMarvin · 19/01/2011 11:16

sparkle, don't let one slip up ruin your week! Can you do some exercise to give you some activity points to trade? Even an hours brisk walk would give you 5 points?

NormaSknockers · 19/01/2011 11:25

Sparkle you are not crap, you had a blip, one blip - it happens, we all do it from time to time it's being human. You have got self control, look how well you've been doing, look how focused you've been and your loss so far. One slip up isn't going to do that much harm, honestly it won't. As for tomorrow can you plan ahead? Plan what you'll have at Ask then work your day around that, perhaps make some 0 point soup to have for lunch?

Please don't beat yourself up, this is all part of the process, it's a learning curve and there will more along the way - guilt is a wasted emotion don't let it eat you up. I've slipped up many times over the past two years, I've had gains, I've had weeks where I stay the same - I've fallen off for weeks at a time, it's just part of it. It does not mean you don't have self control and it doesn't mean you're crap, I promise.

Chin up, you're not alone, we're here to will you on!

Happy Birthday Starvin

Well done gibberish what a fab loss
Lucky it must be very motivational to see that 9

Congrats Lee on getting DS home safe and well

On the cheese front, mini babybel lights are only 1pp each and the full fat ones only 2pp each. Also mozzarella is 3pp for 30g which is enough for in an omellete.

I haven't had time to exercise as much as i would have liked with having both kids at home but DS is back at school today and DD back at nursery so i am just waiting for my shoppong delivery then when DD is at nusery i am hoping to at least start level 2 of the shred. It's WI tomorrow morning so i will see how much damage my weekend has done, doesn't help that i'm due on this weekend either.

I am not sure if i will get my goal by 17th feb. the main reason i wanted to get it by then was that i would have reached it with my current meeting and won't need to stress too much about finding a meeting straightaway when we move. I've looked online and the local meeting to the new house is at 6.30pm and i'm used to WI in the mornings also it won't be practical when DH is away as thats bath time etc for the kids. The next nearest one is 7 miles away but at noon and DD will be going to nursery for 1 near home so i'm not sure if i'll be able to manage that one either. The only other one is 7 miles away again but at 9am in the town centre. DS starts school at 8.40 and then i would have to battle the traffic. SO i don't know which one to try as i was also hoping the meetings would help me meet people and make friends so in that case the most unpractical evening one would be better as it's local. Oh i don't know, i'm rambling again Smile

DuplicitousBitch · 19/01/2011 11:29

sparkle just get back on the wagon. you can do it. next time don't have pud.

it was dd's party yesterday adn i had some cake but i mentally prepared myself for it, still it was hard to just have 1 bit and i struggled not to jsut eat the lot.

there are some great losses on the thread!

DuplicitousBitch · 19/01/2011 11:31

lucky i dream of being 9 something! but right now 10 something would be fabulous

LuckyLight · 19/01/2011 11:33

Happy Birthday starving!!!

Re the anorexic girl I heard about, she must be about 'our' age (hee hee, bit general!) Her Mum is same age as my mum and she has 3 kids, 8,4, and 1. Poor woman, I can't stop thinking about her. I agree with sweetheart, I would much rather diet and be healthy.

Just earned a whopping 10 activity pps in a really really hard 50 min spin class, and then I di 15 mins of weights afterwards...

Obssessed.....Moi? Non Non.....Grin.

LeeWT · 19/01/2011 11:33

lucky wow I'd say seeing that magic number on the scales is just what you need and deserve!

Happy birthday starving!! My bday was 2 weeks ago but feck it you deserve a couple glasses wine and some cake it's only once a year!

sparkle I know only too well that feeling of panic but Norma is right this is a long term thing for all of us whether we have a lot to lose or are trying to maintain and there are going to be blips and unavoidable gains or stay the sames and even surprise losses when we've misbehaved but we have to think real life will be like that sometimes. You're doing brilliant don't let this upset you..

And Norma I meant to say the other day when you said you were nervous helping out at the meeting, if you can be half as helpful there as you are on there they are lucky to have you! It's fantastic to have people like you and lucky who are near to target who have fought the battle to keep us all going!

LuckyLight · 19/01/2011 11:36

DB Seriously, I dreamt of being 9 stone something, and being a size 10. I genuinely didn't think I could do it, but propoints really works for me. I am such a convert. If I had more time I should be a leader cos I'm so bloody boring enthusiastic about it!!

Keep going all of you....I have certainly achieved something I never thought I would. You can all do the same.

NormaSknockers · 19/01/2011 11:42

Hhmmmm hard decision vnmum could you maybe try the evening one, once to see how/if it works and if it doesn't try another?

Aww thank you Lee what a lovely thing to say - I had most of the regulars so they were kind to me Wink Hopefully I'll be better next week, it's funny how when you're on the spot you can forget simple maths Grin

OP posts:
Littlefish · 19/01/2011 11:42

Those poor children Lucky. I hope they are getting some support. I know only too well the devastating effect that a parent with an eating disorder can have on their children. Sad

I agree with Lee - it's great having people on the thread who are near goal, or have been successful over a longer period of time. It helps me to believe that it can be done!

Sparkle - don't be too hard on yourself. We all have off days. The feeling of being out of control is very frightening, once you've started enjoying the feeling of losing weight, and finding your self-control. It was a little blip, that's all. Just point everything really carefully for the rest of the week. Smile

hmc · 19/01/2011 11:58

Phew - just caught up again but by the time I have finished typing this there will be another zillion posts Wink

Well done Littlefish, Froot, gibberish on your losses and lucky for being sub 10 stone (which is about what my right thigh probably weighs Wink)

Excellent news Lee that your little boy is back home Smile

And happy birthday Starvin (I like the fancy way Norma typed her birthday greeting)

Vnmum - am curious to know if you found level 2 Shred any more challenging than level 1? - I must confess I worked up a sweat in level 2 after only gently glowing in level 1...and Froot - was it you who uses 2.5kg weights? - me too, tis a killer. Occasionally I will cheat and put the weights down and do the last few reps without Blush. My upper body strength has always been a bit poor.

BigTillyMint - get thee to your next weigh in! - you have to keep going, especially if you think you have gained! A friend of mine used to come to class with me and didn't go for a couple of weeks because she felt she had gained, and then stopped altogether. She has now gained 7lbs but is coming back to class with me tonight.

Bluebump - know what you mean about the recipes - I won't be trying the chocolate soup one any time soon.

Sweetheart - glad your knee has held up after the cycling. If you are thinking of buying an exercise bike my advice would be to spend as much as you can spare - the better the bike, the more rewarding the exercise experience. Have you looked at second hand on Ebay? - you might get a really good make of pre-owned bike there.

Weigh in tonight and quiety confident (had a sneaky weigh in this morning). Would love to seal the deal with a 7lb poo like Blondes however!

sweetheart · 19/01/2011 12:03

we are going out for 2 meals in a couple of weeks so in the spirit of damage limiteation I have just gone through the menu of 1 of the restaurants and pointed up what I can eat - it thew up some ideas for home which I wanted to share but also sparkle - try doing the same with your meal at Ask. Get the menu online - point up the food and pick in advance what your going to wat - don't even pick up the menu when you get to the restaurant and if you really want a pudding perhaps you could share one with someone???

Anyway things I have found which I think are quite low points:-
lemon sole 2pp
asparagus wrapped in parma ham = 3pp
avacado is 4pp for half so on a prawn and avacado salad it's likely to only be 2pp
scallops - you can have 9 for 2pp!
a veal escallop is only 3pp
liver which I LOVE is only 1pp per 50g
ostrich fillet - bit random I know - are only 3pp

sweetheart · 19/01/2011 12:05

hmc - do you have a bike, round you recommend it - what brand is it? Grin

hmc · 19/01/2011 12:24

I do sweetheart - it's a Lifefitness C9i. It was rather expensive, but it's very sturdy, has all the programmes on it (cardio, fat burning, hill, random etc) and a cardiac monitor. It's a pleasure to use. You can get pre-owned ones more reasonably priced.

Whilst good gym equipment (mine is all public / private sector gym equivalent) can be very expensive, I do believe that if you get good stuff you will use it....and although I felt decadent and spoilt ordering mine, what price can I put on my health eh? I've been clinically obese for the last few years and eventually that will shorten my life. Also dh had just bought himself a sports car so this was my sports car equivalent!

Do you have a John Lewis near you? - they gave me good advice and if you think this particular model is too extravagant, there are other great bikes more reasonably priced

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/01/2011 12:52

Happy birthday starvin

manic day here so short bu sweet from me (sorry)

i had one block of noodles and they were 6pp Shock is this right?

androbbob · 19/01/2011 13:08

Another short but sweet one here - lost the couple pounds gained and another one! Need 2lb next week for my stone award!

Lucky - will you remind us all how much you have lost and how long it has taken you please! I can't remember that far back!!! Also it would be great to be 9 stone something - take a photo if you can of the scales and we can all enthuse with you and you can keep it to remind yourself!

Lunch now - back later!

NormaSknockers · 19/01/2011 13:48

Well done andro fantastic Grin I'm the same, need to lose 2lb for my stone next week - reckon we can do it?!

Sadly it is right Blondes!

OP posts:
sweetheart · 19/01/2011 14:43
Hmm

I have sharwoods noodles and they are 3 points per block - I've checked 3 times to make sure that is correct - infact every time I see it one here! I do get confused because I think IIRC that the info on the packet is per 60g serving BUT each block is only actually 30g?!?!? I'm going to have to check again aren't I - just to be on the safe side!

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/01/2011 15:13

Sweetheart- I weighed my dry noodles and just under 60g so def one block is 6pp - added a bit of chow mein sauce 1pp and 90g chicken 3pp so 10pp in all

Quite tasty

Well done androbbob on loss

Lucky - brill you are nearly at goal :)

Brought a small bag of malteasers and will count out 12 later and give rest to dh - any idea how many in a bag?
