Welcome one and all - if you're following the new WW ProPoints plan then this is the thread for you!

Whether you need to lose a little or a lot you'll be right at home, we're friendly, supportive and we're all in the same boat!

androbb is our resident stats checker and helps to track what we've lost as a thread so far, nothing more motivating then seeing just how much weight is coming off.

Feel free to dive in and join us Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/01/2011 16:33

sweetheart dont be glum ((hug)) most of us put on weight over xmas, i put on 7 lbs Blush a 2lbs a week your goal can be doable

vnmum sorry you gained 2 lbs, but it will soon come off

im looking through shopping guide,

if salad is free then why is pre packed crunchy salad mix from coop 1 - there is no dressing on it

tbh i cant see how i can lose weight and eat what i used to and be within my new 29pp

i used to eat salmon 3.5 or chicken 2.5 plus 60g rice 3 and now salmon and rice is 12/13p

Littlefish · 06/01/2011 18:26

Lucky & going - thank you for the pep talk about going to the gym. I will try really hard to pluck up courage. I'll have to buy some trainers first though. I don't even own a pair! I think it's all those coiffured ladies who worry me, Lucky!

LuckyLight · 06/01/2011 19:33

Igonre them Littlefish and trust me, there will be more people sniggering at them than you my dear. Now go and get yourself some trainers in the sales......!!!

I went back to work today having been off sick. Feel so pooped now. Banging headache. Just managed to eat a handful of rich tea in a brief moment of weakness..!

wizzler · 06/01/2011 19:43

My mini goal is the 5% in 3 weeks. At the moment I am really motivated ( well if I am not motivated in the first week, I am never going to be, am I?) , and am enjoying that fruit has no propoints.. Did WW about 10 years ago and got penalised even for eating apples. Managing to stay on 29 points per day.. do the experts out there think I should use the 49 extra ones up, or will I lose more if I dont ?

hmc · 06/01/2011 19:51

Sweetheart - aren't you tempted to swap sugar for sweeteners in your tea and save propoints?

Littlefish - I second what lucky says about the gym, people reserve their inner scorn for the wag types who reek of perfume on the treadmill next to you (not nice when you are breathing in heavily due to exertion) and barely break a sweat as they walk slowly on the treadmill whilst leafing through a copy of Hello magazine. Never seen anybody scorn a fuller figured gym attendee...I don't go to the gym any longer though because I have my own in t'back garden!! (log cabin)

Lucky - you are missing a treat if you don't watch USA biggest loser, bigger budget than UK one and delightfully OTT. Also in series 6 the four finalists who had started their journey weighing 300lbs+ completed a marathone. I was awed by the transformation - they were athletes by the end of it! vnmum - glad I am not the only one with a Jillian crush!

Thighs - a couple of breakfast suggestions (based on what I eat)
*1 soft boiled egg and 2 slices of wholewheat toast no butter - 6 propoints

  • peach slices(free), 100g onken peach biopot and 30g muesli - 6 propoints...
LouiseSix · 06/01/2011 21:47

Hi can I join this thread?

Joined WW last night. Finally decided to try and lose baby weight after 14 months Blush

Weighed in at 13st 9.5lb - oh dear.

Have used 30 points today and I am feeling hungry!

hmc · 06/01/2011 22:09

Hi Louise, if still hungry, have an apple / banana / grapes or any other fruit you might have in - tis 'free'

LouiseSix · 06/01/2011 22:32

Thanks hmc but I have discovered it does not cure my carb hunger pains Grin

This new ww diet will really force me to increase my fruit intake, I'm pining for bread!

hmc · 06/01/2011 22:37

Ah - early days, perhaps those longings for bread will wear off a little - I know mine did. Sadly can't say the same for alcohol!

If I'm hungry and in danger of raiding fridge or cupboards late in the evening, I find going to bed early with a book helps! Much less likely to bother to wander down to kitchen in my nightie when snug under the duvet with a page turner

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/01/2011 22:39

Do you all manage to survive on your daily points?

I have 29 and Im sure I will be Hungary
And sometimes fruit isn't enough

Littlefish · 06/01/2011 22:44

Because I've got so much weight to lose, I have looooooooads of points each day. To start with, I really struggled to eat all my points! I was convinced I would never lose weight eating as much as I had to.

However, once I got used to eating more (of the right foods), I started losing weight consistently.

I generally manage to eat all my points, but yesterday, only had fruit at lunchtime, and ended up with 8 points left at the end of the day.

LouiseSix · 06/01/2011 22:48

Good idea. If it cures me of my carb cravings I will truely be impressed and thankful!

androbbob · 06/01/2011 22:49

Evening all! Hope all going well for the newbies to the thread and the diet - I will be expecting bumper weight losses next week if you please!

wizzler - you asked about using some or all 49 points - well I use all of mine most weeks and nearly all of my daily points and I am losing at least 2lbs a week - which is fine be me! The key I think it to point everything even if you end up using all 49 in one day, as it focuses the mind. There is no point saying you are not using them all and then forgetting to write down a couple of biscuits or a choccie bar and then having a blowout meal later in the week - you could end up using loads! I also like the fact that you cant carry PP from one day to another - so if you use 27 of your 29 then the spare 2 are lost.

vnmum - dont be too downheartened about your little gain - I am sure you have had blips like this before and then had a pleasant WI the following week. Just contine what you are doing and follow thighs advice. I would ask do you eat your activity points or just do exercise and not count them? I do the gym etc but ignore the points I have earned - works for me. Give it a week and see how you get on.

Well I have had a good few days and not even used any of my 49 weekly points yet! Not had the need to use them yet so far!

littlefish - I agree with lucky re the gym - I am not excessively large (size 16 and shrinking!) and I go to the gym in yoga pants and a lose tshirt to hide the blubber. I too snigger at the WAG type girls with skinny tops and shorts on who dont work up a sweat and appreciate the effort made by the larger members who are there trying to improve their health. A friend of mine has lost 4 stone - I would guess she was a size 20/22 and is now a 14 and has been going to the gym throughout. It is admirable to be making the effort.

Had an induction on the power plate today - not sure if it is a gimmick or not but my muscles are aching after 4 sets of exercises that took 6 minutes to do! Will report tomorrow!

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/01/2011 23:05

Went to the gym for 1st time in 3 mths tonight (as sprained ankle very badly and pulled a tendon so couldn't go) :( and did body combat and I'm Seriously aching

I'm still puzzled about the bonus points - if you are meant to have them Most weeks then surely I can add 7 to each day and therefore have 36 a day and if i don't eat 36 then good as long as over 29

Does that make sense?

Furball · 07/01/2011 08:05

OK - I pressed the WW cancel subscription button this morning.

There's just no point in me battling with tracking points anymore.........I'm defecting back to what I know......SW.

Good Luck everyone, you are (and will continue I'm sure) doing great.

Thank you for all your support.

Furball · 07/01/2011 08:06

You may be interested in these free books etc this starting tomorrow

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 07/01/2011 08:26

Still can't catch up with the thread! Blondes, that is fine, you can split the weekly points over 7 days if that helps. The calculations have been done so that eating daily points plus weekly points equals weight loss. The point of the weekly ones are to stop you feeling deprived and to make it easier to fit in things that pop up unexpectedly or accomodate a big night out so you don't go into sod it mode having gone over your daily points.

WI for me yesterday and Iost the grand total of half a pound. That got me my 2.5 Stone award and the first of the mini targets I've set myself.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2011 08:48

'dashs out to buy the mail' thanks

furball ikwym, will try new wwpp for a month and if i cant get with it then will go back to old ww - good luck with sw - doesnt matter how you lose the weight, its the fact you do iyswim

im also in shock Shock how much my fav chinese has gone up - char sui pork is a whopping 11 wwpp compared to 4.5 old ones - also the new eating out guide doesnt have chicken fried rice - any ideas how many wwpp please?

WynkenBlynkenandNod for tip with using/sharing bonus points, will try to stick to 29 for the day and use either for a odd treat of chinese or crisps

im pleased to announce ive lose 3 lbs this week :)

Lorelai · 07/01/2011 08:52

Well done wynken!

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2011 08:53

well done wynken - 2.5 stone loss is fab - you must be really proud :)

vnmum · 07/01/2011 09:40

well done wynken on reaching your mini goal. And well doneblondes on your 3lb loss.

Furball i have a friend who tried WW after doing SW for ages and she has also gone back to SW as she just couldn't get to grips with WW for what she ate(she still ate what she would have on SW and it didn't really fit in with pointing). so now we compare our weight loss and we are both happy with our particular diet and thats the main thingSmile

After my dilemma after WI yesterday, i have decided to use some of my 49 so i don't feel deprived b not actually set put to use them all IYSWIM. i'm also going to carry on with the shred but fit in more cardio as i think that is where i'm going wrong. i have just been shredding and no cardio and i think you need the cardio to burn the fat, toning alone is not enough. so we will see how it works for this week

sweetheart · 07/01/2011 10:03

Morning all,

Well done on the losses and hello to levise6

Had a good day yesterday - seemed to eat ALOT and only used 22 points, not sure how I'm going to loose weight like that but hopefully I will!!!!!

hmc I can't stand sweetner - it makes tea taste slimey! While I've still got points to spare I'll keep to sugar - esp as I can have 2 cups for 1pp, bonus.

Yesterday I was quite amazed to find a cheesestring is only 2pp (I was feeling a bit peckish last night) and my other hint is if your craving carbs try cream crackers instead of bread. I eat them alot when I'm doing ww. I had 3 last night with some low fat phillidelphia and it was only 3 points.

androbob I have a power plate at home (a passing fad!) and I can't say I saw any improvement whilst I was using it.

I am now dreading going to the gym ladies as I'll be one of those people walking and not breaking a sweat! With my current injury I can't do any running or anything but still want to try and keep fit so the best I can do at the gym is walk on the treadmill - I would go outside but it's pouring with rain here!

Good luck today everyone! I'm hoping for another very positive day Grin

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 07/01/2011 10:24

Thank you all :)

Blondes, 3lbs is fabulous, a huge well done !

Furball, I will see you on the SW thread then, I weight at a SW class and am going to do SW occasionally for a change as I feel both PP and SW have their strong points and I shall use them to suit me. As vnmum says, as long as the blasted fat is gone, it's job done.

VNmum, I think using at least some of the weekly points is a good idea or this whole deprivation thing which is a diet killer, creeps in and the yoyo dieting starts.

Louisesix As HMC says, hopefully your bread cravings will go. I used to eat a lot and now have cravings for Ryvita wholegrain crackerbreads with low fat Philly, I would have laughed if someone told me that 6 months ago! I've upped my protein intake which has helped a lot. Breakfast today is 2 x quorn sausages (3), 100g lean bacon (3), an egg (2), lots of mushrooms and tomatoes and a slice of melon. That fills me up so much more of my old breakfast of 2 weetabix which was 2 points less but I'd be hungry by about 11am instead of 1 or 2pm as I find with higher protein breakfast.

Luckylight hope you are feeling better today.

Sweetheart I see you have also discovered philadelphia and crackers ! Sorry to hear about your injury.

Apologies to those I have missed out.

Just reflecting on my weight loss the last year and thinking about the key thing that has kept me going (have been at this since middle of July). It has to be the keep at it and not get disheartened if your weight loss seems slower than other people or if you get a gain. It takes a time to get to the point where you feel you have lost a decent amount of weight when it goes slowly, but there comes a point when you realise how well you've done, even if there is a long way to go (I have done 35 of the 100lbs I am going to do) and that actually you can do it and are wearing clothes a couple of sizes smaller plus feel much fitter and it makes it all worth while.

going · 07/01/2011 10:58

sweetheart -you'll still be able to do some weights as well as walking on the treadmill. I use the treadmill and burn more calories on that per hour than on the cross trainer. I don't run but do use it at a 15% incline.

Wynken Well done on your weightloss so far, it feels so good to see the numbers on the clothes size dropping! I've lost 27 lbs with 52 to go since September and am certainly feeling better about myself.

I also really agree that protein keeps you fuller for longer.
