Whether you need to lose a little or a lot you'll be right at home, we're friendly, supportive and we're all in the same boat!

androbb is our resident stats checker and helps to track what we've lost as a thread so far, nothing more motivating then seeing just how much weight is coming off.

Feel free to dive in and join us Grin

Lucky - thanks for the knee info. I will give the swimming a miss until after my scan and follow up appointment (should both be within a couple of weeks).

I'm ashamed to say that although I swim quite regularly, I've never actually got round to visiting the gym part. It frightens me a bit. Without doubt, I would be the largest person there, and am scared of looking stupid. Sad

Ridiculous realy - I'm prepared to put on a swimming costume and walk, half naked to the pool, but I'm worried about wearing clothes and getting breathless and sweaty in front of people. I think it's because the breathless and sweaty thing would happen after about 30 seconds.

Littlefish · 05/01/2011 18:05

Well done wizzler. That's the hard part done. Just keep telling yourself that you'll never be that weight again!

Lorelai · 05/01/2011 18:19

Well i've had my dinner (ate early with DD1 as DH is working late) and still have 17pp left. Don't think I am doing this quite right yet! :)

Has anyone got ideas of how I can fit exercise into my day with a 3 yr old and a 5 week old? DD1 does go to playschool but that is my housework time.

LuckyLight · 05/01/2011 19:35

Wizzler Yes, it does get easier. I spent the first few days pointing everything...write it all down then you won't have to in future.
Well done on making those first steps.

Littlefish It really saddened me to read about how you feel about going to the gym. I go to a David Lloyd, notoriuos for being full of 'gym bunnies' and big muscley twats men. I have to say, there are a lot of overweight/obese people who use my gym. I can honestly say that all I have ^ever* heard said about them is how people admire them for being pro-active and are impressed that they are doing something about their weight.
I am lucky to be slim already, just wanna lose a few more lbs, and I have nothing but respect for overweight people using the pool and gym, and I know other people feel the same as I have discussed it with them.
I know it's easy for me to say, but think how proud of yourself you will feel once you start going. It's another step in the right direction. It's another change of lifestyle.
Can you go to the gym during the day when it's less busy? Less intimidating? Don't worry about looking sweaty and breathless....just think of all the calories you are burning!!!

Lorelai Don't expect to much of yourself if you have a 5 week old baby exercise wise. From what I remember 2 yrs ago having a 2 yr old and a 6 month old, being a Mum to two young kids is calorie burning enough!!!
How about walking with the buggy? Does the 3 yr old go to any playgroups where you can go off and power walk with the buggy while she is gone for a bit?? (remembering how slow 3 yr olds work!).

Watersign76 · 05/01/2011 21:16

Been to my "return" meeting. Scales weren't nice, but I knew that!

Am actually looking forward to working out the new Pro Points, think I needed something different/new to keep me interested.

I purchased the £20 kit with the PP calculator and other bits.

Here is to the first week of loss :)

Good luck everybody.

benbenandme · 05/01/2011 21:18

Can I join you please ladies? I rejoined WW tonight, weighed in at 12st 2.5 lbs Blush am aiming for 10st 10lbs Smile

hmc · 06/01/2011 00:09

Welcome new peeps Smile

Big grateful thanks to muffinchops for posting the parsnip soup recipe - I do love a good soup

Well done Norma, Madame G, Littlefish (and ooh - have I forgotten anyone) who had weight losses this week, most excellent

With a heartfelt commiserations to those who have gained - perfectly understandable - Christmas etc, don't let the buggers get you down and keep the faith, you'll lose next week, you know you will

Bit hyper today - have only just sat down after prepping lunch tommorrow for 12 [gibbers]- cream crackered. Good friend is unwell so we are all gathering at my place to give her moral support...

Also went briefly to WW meeting (weigh in only, didn't stay for meeting) and lost 2lb! - my last weigh in however was 3 weeks ago so not that impressive. Still given that I didn't skimp on the chocs, cheese and booze over the festive season I'll take that!

Boodle and vnmum and any other shredders - do you have Sky? If so, on the Livingit channel on Tuesday evenings they have just started a new season of the Biggest Loser USA where you can see Jillian Michels in action. I think I have a bit of a crush on her Blush - more a case of wanting to be her than wanting to ...well, y'know what I mean

Oh and vnmum - I will post those Weekday recipe points soon - just as soon as I've got my mass catering lunch done tomorrow!

NormaSknockers · 06/01/2011 04:33

Well a very big hello to everybody Grin

We are certainly a very fast expanding thread (thankfully our waistlines are not Wink

Hello & welcome to all the newbies, you'll find this thread very friendly & supportive, we're all here for the same reason & we're all still learning things about ProPoints so just dive right in.

Scubagoose you would need to be a monthly pass member to attend meetings as well as use the online website. You can attend meetigs too buy you would need to sign up there too & also pay for the meetings you attend as well as your online membership.

Littlefish what an excellent loss, very well done you! You're well on your way now Grin

Madameg excellent news about your 10% goal you must be thrilled, well done Grin

hmc another great loss well done, doesn't matter how many weeks it's over, it's a loss & still within what's classed as a healthy weight loss (0.5-2lbs a week) Wink

How are all our shredders getting on?

And how are all our illing people, any better today?

To the newbies have you set yourself any mini goals? Quite a few of us have set ourselves some mini goals to help keep focused & so it doesn't look to daunting. Things like 'lose 7lbs' or 'reach my 5%' - have you got any in mind?

I'm also running 2 extra motivators myself, the first person the lose 7lbs & the first person the lose 1 stone from the date this thread started will receive a little something through the post from me as a well done Grin

Apologies if I've missed anything/anyone out!

How are we all feeling about this week, feeling back on track now Christmas is done? Anyone else decided to do more exercise as their NY resolution? Ayone decided to cook from scratch more or try new recipes?

I can highly recommend the Hearty Home Cooking & Seriously Satisfying WW cook books, both are in the new PP values & both packed with absolutely delicious recipes!

Morning all.

Norma, my initial goal is to lose as much as my baby weighs; not sure how much that is at the moment but will obv keep going up the longer it takes me to do so will motivate me to do it quickly.

going · 06/01/2011 08:34

Littlefish You and I are both about the same weight. I go to the gym and am not the biggest person there, don't feel self concious. People go to the gym to improve their own body and when exercising hard you don't even look at other people as you are so focused on what you are doing. Even skinny people git red faced ans sweaty!!!!!!

AM going to be bravce and weigh myself on Monday - not looking forward to it but need to stop sticking my head in the sand about it!

LuckyLight · 06/01/2011 08:52

Would just like to add that what I do laugh at, at the gym, is the skinny bitches girls who have a full face if make up and long thick perfectly coiffured hair down, who barely raise their heart rate for fear of getting a 'glow' on their face. Now, they are the ones that people may well laugh at, not the people looking all sweaty and doing what should be done at the gym!!

Back to work today. Still feel washed out but it's only 1 day then 5 days off.

Have a good day all.

MadameG · 06/01/2011 09:06

Well done hmc!

Lorelai- what about home fitness dvds? I have a 4 month old and am not exercising at all, apart from the odd walk when its not cold/ raining (i.e. not very often).

I'm still feeling rough with my infection, and ate into my weekly pp last night by having a salmon sandwich and a bowl of coco pops. Oh dear. Never mind, I've still got 30 left.

Norma I'm going to check out those cook books. I'm a bit stuck for inspiration at the moment.

froot · 06/01/2011 09:16

OK have stuck to it for 2 whole days and have ordered the shred DVD.....frustrated as it's not arrived yet! I am determined to get this Christmas 6 lb off!

Two things I wanted to post - someone - can't remember who - was asking for breakfast ideas. Turkey bacon is blimmin lovely and only 1 pp for TWO rashers! So with ww bread (malted is best and doesn't go mouldy for weeks) you can make a nice bacon sandwich for only 4 pp. But even better is 1 fried egg (use spray) 2 rashers, mushrooms, tomatoes.....and all for a bargain 3 points!

Some one put a vitamin B tip on here. My tip is grapefruit juice. I read a study that said eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice before you eat can aid weight loss. Am sure it helps me. Not sure whether a metabolic thing or because the bitter taste of the grapefruit makes you less hungry, but I like a 1/4 glass of grapefruit juice topped up with diet tonic.

Perhaps we could have a thread for tips?

sweetheart · 06/01/2011 09:43

Morning,

Well done to all the people who have had a loss!

I'm feeling a bit glum after last nights meeting. I thought I hadn't gone over 11 stone but last night weighed in at 11 8.5 which means I've gone from wanting to loose 14Ib in 10 weeks which in my mind was totally do'able to having to loose 22Ib in 10 weeks which I just can't see - especially as I'm physically incapable of exercise at the moment Sad

Still, I have stocked up with all the ww tools I need so I'm on the road and hoping for about 4Ibs in my first week. Little goals after that will be to get under 11stone and then I'll take it in 7Ib chunks.

Exercise wise - do you have the tracker book? They have a beginner / intermediate and advance walking plan in there which starts from 20 mins a day.

I did Shred for a bit last year but got a bit bored of doing the same thing every day, I used to be a totally devoted gym body and I wish I could get back there now. There was a lady at my gym who had a gastric band. I saw her recently and was amazed that she had lost a whopping 15 stone in a year! If she can go to the gym anyone can!

going · 06/01/2011 10:13

Sweetheart 2.2lbs per week is an average amount to lose. If you put your mind to it you should be able.

In the Feb edition of Good Food magazine there is a 30 recipe WW booklet. Some nice recipes in there.

encyclogirl · 06/01/2011 10:23

Hi folks, I post on the "Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels" thread. Just wanted to chime in on how fabulous Propoints is.

I went from 10'6 to 9'5 before Christmas and regained 4lbs over the break. Started Propoints on Jan 1. Just peeked at the scales today, (I know - naughty...

But I've lost the 4 already. It's a fabby diet. Feel really good to be already back where I was. Will push on now to 9stones.

Good luck everyone, and stick with it, it definitely works!

sweetheart · 06/01/2011 10:26

just realised I normally weight at home in the morning and yesterday meeting was in the evening after dinner, that probably accounts for me thinking I weigh less than I do!

Thanks going, I'm going to try really hard to stay focused!

sweetheart · 06/01/2011 11:00

Can I check something to be sure I'm not being thick!

I've had 2 cups of tea this morning with 1 sugar in each. When I went to put 2 sugar's on my tracker online it came up as 1pp but i thought 1 teaspoon of sugar was 1 pp so shouldn't it be 2pp in total?

going · 06/01/2011 11:04

PP are whole points, you can't do halves. It means 1 tsp of sugar is more than zero and less than one so two make one. Have probably explained that really badly! I calucalted points for a soup today and half the box was 2 points yet the whole box is 5 points. It's been rounded to the nearest whole number.

sweetheart · 06/01/2011 11:26

no that does make sense going - thank you. It just seems a bit like cheating to count it as 1 instead of 2 but if that's what they say then I'll stick with it - means I can have double the amount of cups of tea Grin

vnmum · 06/01/2011 12:22

hi just popping in with my WI result, will catch up later. I gained 2 lb. bit peeved but am gonna get it back off. just off to shred so will catch up later

vnmum · 06/01/2011 13:10

right, thats day 5 level 1 of the shred done. at my meeting this morning there was only 2 people who lost. alot of people had gained 5lbs or so.

I now have 6 weeks to lose 14lbs to get to my goal by 17th feb. is it doable do you think?

i don't know how to approach it though. i don't know wether to stop the shred and just do loads of cardio so i'm not gaining mucle or wether to stick with the shred but add more cardio in? also i don't know wether to try and not eat my weekly points to see if that will lead to better loss. I've been on the WW site forums and it seems on there that people lose more when eating their 49 but our leader says if you don't eat them you don't have to and you will have faster loss if you don't eat them.

I'm just a tad confused as what is the best approach.

welcome to any newcomers and well done to all losers.

hmc i have started watching the biggest loser and i know what you mean about the jillian thing, i am the same Smile. there is also a new series of biggest loser uk starting on monday at 9pm on itv hosted by davina. i will watch to compare the trainers but i don't think you can beat bob and jillian (bob's nice eye candy even if he is gay)lol

encyclogirl · 06/01/2011 13:55

Hi ya, me again, I would like to post here as well as my 'home' thread if that's ok?

My dh works nights so he has just hopped on the scales now. He has lost 9lbs since Sunday!

Fair enough, he's 17.5 stone and 6 ft tall and he's man, which seems to mean weight loss is faster. Also it's his first ever diet.

But still, 9lbs is amazing! So proud of him.

thighsmadeofcheddar · 06/01/2011 14:13

VNmum I've been doing the SHRED too. I did it for about 3 weeks in December and then got ill. Started back on last night, level 1 again. Man, it's good. I think if it's something you enjoy doing then stay with it. I don't think you'll put on too much muscle, Jillian does say that her routine is the quickest way to lose weight.

Lucky definitely makes sense to get better before starting. I was ill (just cold-ish) over xmas and there is no way I could of done it.

Anyway, I need some inspiration for meals I think. I'm still trying to use up bits and bobs of christmas leftovers.

B: F&F
L: Baked beans 1 x toast
S: Sausages, steamed veg

S: Banana, satsuma, 2 x ww bars

LuckyLight · 06/01/2011 14:55

Hmmm, Biggest loser UK with Davina....sounds good. I never watched the US/Aussie ones.

Just ate a galaxy by accident at work. Text DH to point it, he said 'did it just 'fall' in your mouth??!!'....erm, no....7 pps. I have enough in weekly allowance left. Not quite worth the calories, should have had Cadburys Smile.
