Welcome one and all - if you're following the new WW ProPoints plan then this is the thread for you!

Whether you need to lose a little or a lot you'll be right at home, we're friendly, supportive and we're all in the same boat!

androbb is our resident stats checker and helps to track what we've lost as a thread so far, nothing more motivating then seeing just how much weight is coming off.

Feel free to dive in and join us Grin

WOW Norma that is Fantastic Well done you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You must be on cloud 9.

Virtual (very un-mumsnet) hug coming your way....now!!

LuckyLight · 04/01/2011 20:41

androbbob Yes you can indeed eat the outer part.. Personally my favourite bit, but not to everyone's taste. Amazed that any recipe containing soft cheese can be low in pps???

androbbob · 04/01/2011 20:46

Lucky it only had 100g in between four portions.

Well done norma - I too got my 5% sticker as she forgot last week!

Littlefish · 04/01/2011 21:23

Hellooooooo.

Well, I've just got back from Weighing in.

I'm absolutely delighted to say that I've lost 2.5lbs.

This means that I'm only half a pound away from my 10% and only 1 pound away from losing my first 2 stone.

Congrats Norma and androbbob.

Lucky - can I ask you a question please. I injured my knee a year ago, and have finally got around to seeing a consultant about it (following regular physio appointments which have given me short term relief, but never sorted it completely).

I'm having an MRI scan on my knee next week as the consultant thinks that I may have a torn meniscus (sp).

I'm struggling with swimming as both breast stroke and crawl make my knee ache/click.

What do you suggest.... Having lost some weight, I'm keen to start doing some exercise, but my knee is really hampering this.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/01/2011 21:35

Well done norma and littlefish - fab losses :)

I'm looking at the camb/pea&courgette tart in ww mag - I can't stand peas but any reason why I can't make it and use sweetcorn instead?

Would it be the same PP?

mumto2andnomore · 04/01/2011 21:43

Well done to all who have had losses :)

Can I just ask about tinned fruit, I thought tinned fruit in juice was 0pp so just had 1 of those individual pots but on the tracker it says its 2 ! Some varieties seem to be 0.Just fruit cocktail in juice, wish I hadnt had it now :(

A hearty congrats to norma, littlefish, androbob, madameg and wynken and any other person who has lost and I forgot to mention. These results are even more fantastic given the intervention of Xmas. I really do take my imaginary hat off to you. Well done ladies. I am in awe.

Well I am afraid to report that I put on 2lbs which I am annoyed about but, to be honest, I think I had a narrow escape. Not too bad over the xmas period so need to knock that off and then some.

Back to focussed tracking for me and hopefully period will arrive and get rid of some of the extra bloat so I can have a motivating loss.

muffinchops · 04/01/2011 22:51

Ps sorry - hmc the parsnip soup recipe is in the new WW pp Recipes book. Was half price in WH Smiths (£20 down to £7) but is basically

400g parsnips peeled and chopped
onion chopped
1 tsp curry powder
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp ginger
1 1/2 pints of veg stock

Just fry the onion in fry light then add the parsnip and the spices and coat. Bung in the stock bring to the boil and then simmer for 20 mins until tender. Blend when cooled a little and season and reheat. This recipe serves 4 so good for freezing too.

Bon appetit!

boodleboot · 05/01/2011 07:51

fookin eck....this thread is getting busy!!

Well done Norma on the weightloss - great news! I have weigh in on sat and according to my mums scales on monday i had stayed the same over xmas but must admit i am hoping for a loss as been really good since saturday points wise...i would be satisfied to stay the same tho of course as i deffo ate too much shite at christmas....

HMC - The shred must be faddy for me to even have heard of it!! that said day 4 today and yesterday was the toughest so far but am really starting to kind of enjoy it....there is a bit in circuit three, during the cardio bit where she is telling us to finish strong etc and i swear yesterday i was whooping like a wally at the telly! It was kind of exhilerating.....my 11yr old daughter who was sort of joining in but mainly mocking me was mortified incase the neighbours heard!! today will be my last day of doing it the way anita does it....im moving on to natalie (not sure what my poor little pressup hating armies will think....Wink)I am going to do 10 days at level one ten at level two and ten at level three....that sound the right way to approach it?

How are my other Shred compadres doing???

been really good points wise so far this week remaining easily within my full 48(still exclusively breastfeeding Alicebear Bear)- not eating my exercise points and to be honest been only having about 35 of my 48 points but that may go against me at WI as i really have had my best losses when i have been eating all my allotted points. Will see on saturday....

LuckyLight · 05/01/2011 10:29

littlefish If you may have injured your meniscus (cartilage) then swimming, esp breast stroke swimming would aggravate it. The meniscus is usually injured in twisting forces on the knee, and in breast stroke the knee has to twist quite a bit so this would aggravate it. Imagine your meniscus like a piece of rubber, which shock absorbs in the knee, sometimes that bit of rubber tears, or a bit breaks away and floats around the knee, causing pain. You could try just walking up and down in the pool, forwards, backwards, side to side. See if that hurts? Can you ride a bike (static exercise bike)?
As your scan is not far away, it may be worth you just awaiting the results of this before embarking on anything more energetic. No point in making things worse.

Hope that helps.

vnmum · 05/01/2011 11:23

morning all,

well done norma and littlefish on fantastic losses.

boodle i have just done level 1 day 4 today and it is starting to get easier. i know what you mean about feeling strangely exhilerated. I am struggling to get anything other than the shred done at the mo though as DD doesn't start nursery till monday so i can only do so much before she starts getting bored watching me.

made a batch of butternut squash and tomato soup yesterday so will have that for lunch with some ryvita and cottage cheese.

i have just heard on the shredheads thread that by taking vit B complex you can actually boost weight loss as it helps body to convert food into energy.

good luck to anyone weighing in today

MadameG · 05/01/2011 11:25

Littlefish- well done on your wonderful loss!! Smile

I put my 1lb weight loss into WW online yesterday and it said that I've hit my 10% goal. Woohoo! V pleased. I want to celebrate by buying myself a dress on the TopShop website but the sods are out of my size. Meh.

I've just been told by the dr that I've got a throat and chest infection so I feel pretty rubbish today. Managed to not cheer myself up by scoffing loads of chocolate tho and I'm cooking cod steaks(3pp), new potatoes with spring onions and melted butter (6pp) and veg (0pp) for lunch instead.

LuckyLight · 05/01/2011 11:38

Sorry to hear you are not feeling well MadameG. Well done on the healthy lunch and not giving into the chocolate. Not easy when you are not feeling 100%. Smile.

Sorry, the thread is moving so fast, I can't remember who commented that since starting back on the WW, that that awful feeling of bloatedness etc has gone...I couldn't agree more. I felt so yukky all over Christmas. Yes, the food tastes nice while you are actually eating it, but I think I really am learning that the unpleasant after-effects are not always worth it. It's certainly made me eat 'naughty' things in moderation. I used to think nothing of eating a whole big bag of Doritos (yes, really), now I will weigh out a suitable portion.

I am looking forward to going to a weigh in but I can't really go this week as I've stayed off sick from work as still not 100% and job is too physical. I can't risk bumping into one of my cancelled patients at a meeting....I live and work in the same town. I know that sounds like a poor excuse. I would actually like to go, if only cos I have run out of rich toffee bars!!!!

Anyhooo..I'm still feeling MEGA Motivated, so not worried about that. Really enjoying tracking and being back on it again. Feel so much better already.

Got a night out on 15th Jan for BIL 30th. Would like to be 10 stone by then (5 lbs to go).

Also supposed to have a meal out on 14th, where arrogantman who I thrashed at work weight loss competition will be paying for my meal as my prize Grin. Is it crap that I'm not bothered about going cos I am enjoying my new healthy eating?? I suppose I could have a salad or something healthy.

LuckyLight · 05/01/2011 11:38

Forgot to say well done MadameG on your 10% goal......yay!!

HollyGoHeavily · 05/01/2011 12:12

Just back from my first weigh in - pretty bad but not quite as terrible as I feared. I reckon I have 5 stones to lose which is a hell of a lot....

Trying now to get my head round the whole new ProPoints system - seems complicated compared to the old system and a bit 'too good to be true'. Off to study it in more detail...

scubagoose · 05/01/2011 13:18

Right I have just signed up to WW online so day one for me.. Im a bit behind you lot. I have a stone to loose for starters.. ideally a stone and half. Quick question if I am an online member can I occasionally go for a weighin at a class or not cant find a section on the web? THanks

LuckyLight · 05/01/2011 13:42

scubagoose Welcome! I don't know the answer to your question I'm afraid.

Hollygoheavily Welcome! New propoints - - - yes, it does seemt to good to be true, but our thread lost over 9 stone between us during the 6 weeks before christmas after it's initial launch.
It does take a bit of getting used to, esp if you are used to the old system, but I think it's much better. I love it.
So much so that I have now given all my old WW books away. I won't ever go back to the old system. I struggled to stick to my 20 pts a day allowance, whereas I have no problem sticking to my 29 pps.
Give it a few weeks and you will be a convert....
One of my close friends lost 10 stone on WW a few years ago. She went from 21 to 11 stone. She has kept it off for 6 years now.

YOU CAN DO IT TOO !!!!

Lorelai · 05/01/2011 13:54

Well I went to my first meeting and have all the info so am officially going for it! Am on 57 ppts per day; no idea what that really means though - it is going to take a while to get my head around the new system.

One thing I would like to share though - I was going through my freezer pointing a few things, and Waitrose Essential choc ices (dark choc if it matters) are only 4 ppts! And since they are also only £1 for a box of ten, and taste great, I think they will be a regular feature on my tracker :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/01/2011 14:09

Lorelai always good to have a treat stashed away - 4pp sounds good - so you could have one every evening if need be

'blonde dashs down to waitroise'

thighsmadeofcheddar · 05/01/2011 14:55

*Ok back reporting in. Sorry I was missing late December, 2 very sick children and I had a cold. Fun fun.

Anyway, like a miracle on 34th Street I've managed to lose 1.5 pounds at weigh in today. Result!!!

I have 6 weeks till a long HOT holiday to Australia so need to burn about another 4 pounds to get down under 11stone.

Back on the SHRED tonight too, Lucky have you been doing it?

Today:

B: Fruit & Fibre
L: 1 x toast with b beans
S: Jacket potato, light philly, ham & salad
S: Bar and a million pieces of fruit.

Good luck all

sweetheart · 05/01/2011 15:34

I am starting to get a bit nervous about starting tonight - my 2 lovely sisters are coming with me so hopefully it won't be too bad. I have my weight written down on this date for the last 4 years it goes:-
2007 10st 4
2008 10st
2009 10st 10Ib
2010 10St 3

I'm really hoping today's weight goes in as 10stone something rather than 11 stone something! I really want to be back down to 10 stone (or less) by my birthday which is mid March

LuckyLight · 05/01/2011 17:23

Thighs not shredding yet, can't wait to get started but holding off until I know my body is ready for such exercise, given that I have had tonsilitis and throat infections 3 times in the last month Hmm.

Feeling better now, but the mistake I have been making is going back to exercise too soon ("My name is Lucky and I'm addicted to exercise"....sad but true).

Will let you know when I start, maybe mid Jan??

Sweetheart good luck with WI. You are similar to me, around the 10 stone mark.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/01/2011 17:55

well done thighs

good luck sweetheart

wizzler · 05/01/2011 18:01

Just been to my first meeting.. horrified at my real weight but determined to lose this week.
Surrounded by booklets trying to "point up" my tea! Please someone tell me this gets easier.
Felt really nervous going into the meeting, but v relieved to have done it.. this is the first step to getting things back under control.
