vnmum - Lucky's my name and muscles are my game (well, my job...
).
Please all of you remember, it is not an old wives tale.....
muscle weighs more than fat!!!!
Imagine if you will, a piece of steak, now imagine a piece of fat off some meat the same size, which do you think would weigh more on your kitchen scales....the steak of course! If you are doing more exercise, you may well gain 'weight' but not fat.
My tips would be either:
Take some measurements in inches/cms (depending on how old you are
!) of the following places:
Waist
'love handles', i.e. hips at their widest point
Thighs. Feel the top of your kneecap and measure 20-25 cm above that point. Measure girth of thighs.
Measure girth of upper arm.
Make sure you find a way to make the measurement repeatable IN THE SAME PLACE. Sounds obvious. Use moles/scars/birthmarks, or measure from bony landmarks i.e. top of pelvis that you can feel from. It doesn't really matter how you do it as long as you do the same next time.
Next - do not re-measure for at least 4 weeks.
Alternatively - buy one of these body fat monitors .
DH and I have had one for years. It really helps cos sometimes you don't lose or even gain weight, but you can use this and you maye have lost fat.
I am in awe of all of you who have actually managed to lose weight over Christmas. Thankfully we seem to have a mix of 'losers' and 'gainers' so no-one needs to feel bad (including myself
).
I had a great way to save pps today. DD1 had a dreadful night coughing and kept me awake til 4am
. I am off work today and DH off too, so I slept in while he took DDs to school. I woke up at 11:30am!!!! Totally bypassed breakfast and went straight to lunch!!
Another new recipe tonight, spaghetti with lamb meatballs. Will feedback.
Can't rememeber who asked but the risotto recipe was in Good food mag last year, I found it on website and linked it on a post on page 8 I think.
