Thanks threestepsforward I will try doing more stretches after tomorrows workout! Would they have any benefit if I did some now? (My workout was about 2 hours ago!)

I can't wait to see the results from this workout I am determined to stick at it this time! I had a phase of doing Davina's 30 minute workouts for a few weeks and then got annoyed by her gurning lost all motivation!!

I just hope I can stick at it this time. It my birthday in March so my aim is to be trim for then!

BalloonSlayer · 31/01/2011 16:00

Level 2 Day 7 completed.

My ankles seem to have recovered - I think it was the Level 1 jumping jacks/jump rope combination (without trainers Blush that did for them so Level 2 has done me good. So I could to that twisty jump and the jump rope again and comprehensively knackered myself.

I wish I had the will power to Shred at 8am!

Momentarynamechange · 31/01/2011 16:02

Keep going Myflabber!! What's so great is it's only 20 mins so easy (in theory!) to fit into your day.

Hmm, good question re stretching a long-ish time after exercising (Lostgirl? Notyummy? Grin).

I did wonder that myself, but am trying to do the stretches right on the back of the Shred just in case it's not as effective a long time after.

Don't be shocked or put off though if you're aching tomorrow. The day after the first one was a killer for me, but it gets much much better Smile

LostGirl · 31/01/2011 16:19

myflabber, no don't do static stretching now as it is possible to cause injuries doing these types of stretches when your muscles are 'cold'. You could do some after going for a walk or something similarly dynamic to get your muscles moving. If you want something that you can do at anytime without having to warm up, to help stretch/relax your muscles you could buy a foam roller which you can use in a huge variety of ways and is a bit like self massage, .

myflabberisgasted · 31/01/2011 16:45

Thanks for all your advice everyone!!

I didn't get round to doing any stretches (good job after reading LostGirls thread) but will do some extra ones after tomorrows work out if needs be.

I am feeling a bit better now and have been running up and down stairs for nappies etc and the pains not too bad now.

threestepsforward I love the fact that the workout is only 20 minutes, that fits in perfect to my day! so hopefully that will keep me motivated!

I will post back in the morning with my ache updates!

Thanks everyone Smile

myflabberisgasted · 31/01/2011 16:46

Oh and LostGirl thanks for the link to the foam roller that looks really good, i might just have to buy one now! Smile

monahue · 31/01/2011 17:57

Did my first day of shred yesterday and am fairly aching today!
Got weighed this morning and am (will say it quickly so it's not as painful)....13st 3. Yikes! Am only 5ft 4 so that's fairly hefty.
However,I am committed to this shredding lark and am looking forward (ish)to shred day 2 when the kids are in bed.

mychildrenarebarmy · 31/01/2011 19:42

Natalie cheats Shock Of course lots of you will have already noticed but it did make me Grin. Level 1, 12m 25s ish. Check her in the back ground. The lazy bint is only doing the arm bit for a couple of seconds.

mychildrenarebarmy · 31/01/2011 19:45

monahue I am only 5ft 1 1/2in (the half makes all the difference). I was 13st 6lbs a year ago. I lost a stone up to Christmas and then stayed. I ached loads for the first 3 days but then it got easier. I did take a break after 3 days for a day. Then again after another 5 dasy for a day.

myflabberisgasted · 01/02/2011 07:39

ouch!! My arms and chest ache the most, my legs feel ok until I am going up or down stairs!

I am about to do a "big shop" and the thought of pushing the trolley around and then doing the dvd again later is making me feel ill but I WILL do it!

flatmouse · 01/02/2011 10:10

Did an early one today .. 6:20am !! (can't fit it in any other time today).
Felt much better on the easy push-ups (was holding my weights so hand position different and found i could actually complete the movement in "knee-formation").
The other break-through today was successfully completing the first cycle of cardio (always struggle with that one!)
Was feeling very positive afterwards - felt that i had better posture and stomach looked better.... until i put my work skirt on and realised it was still a little snug!
Ah well, onwards!

peanutsmuggler · 01/02/2011 11:17

Did day 2 of level 2 last night. All those plank moves are a killer, I feel like such a weakling!

myflabberisgasted · 01/02/2011 11:22

I've just done day two of level one, although it really hurt to start with I "powered through" and feel better for doing it now!

Hope I feel this positive about doing it tomorrow too!

Momentarynamechange · 01/02/2011 14:13

afternoon Shredders and well done myflabber for diving straight back in on day 2!

I think you'll find it easier tomorrow. After day 1 I copped out on day 2 and only came back and started again after a week away!

Just off in a mo to tackle day 2, level 3. Didn't sweat / grunt / feel like dying yesterday nearly as much as I did in level 2, so am going to up my game today, woo yeah!!

Just got to be strict with myself - I'm at that horrible moment when you realise you've got to haul yourself off the sofa, even work seems more appealing Grin

hope everyone's having a good day

myflabberisgasted · 01/02/2011 15:00

Thanks threestepsforward! how long have you been shredding for now?

Have you noticed a difference?

I am in pain now, I find that saying "shit" with every step helps a little bit though!! Grin

myflabberisgasted · 01/02/2011 15:06

Oh and does anoyone have any advice as to when the aching actually stops?! Does your body just get used to the pain and say on day 5 i'll be back to normal?!

Momentarynamechange · 01/02/2011 15:42

Hi myflabber, I think I've done about 7 days on each, but haven't got everything perfect on each level before moving forward (so press-ups and stuff like that still mainly on my knees).

I didn't actually measure myself before starting but am sure things have improved, tummy feels more toned and generally feel fitter. Not sure I've noticed much improvement on my thighs or arms though, grrr!

I reckon by day 4 (even 3) you'll be feeling 100% better in terms of aches and pains Smile

myflabberisgasted · 01/02/2011 15:51

I was wondering about when you move on to the next level, is it just when you feel like you can do it all easily?! (or easier I should say!)

What are levels 2 and 3 like?
I daren't even look at them yet!!

I might measure and weigh myself and then try again in a week and see if there is any difference!

I dont think i'll be able to do it at the weekends though as we normally have a house full and I feel a bit silly doing it infront of people! Does it matter if I take days off or should i just go with it ad not bother if anyone is watching me?!

myflabberisgasted · 01/02/2011 15:52

oh and roll on day 4!! Grin

herbaceous · 01/02/2011 16:21

Gah. Day 7, or something, level 2 and I'm filled with hatred of Jillian and her infernal plank-based torment. I don't even do the plank jacks at the end - they seem to exacerbate my SPD - which means it makes the plank twists easier to do.

Whole thing not getting any easier, though. And I'm not losing any more weight. Grr.

bluebump · 01/02/2011 16:28

I just did my first level 2 today and I loved it. Much better than level 1 I think (although it seems I may be alone in thinking that reading the comments above!) I was just sick of doing the star jumps and stuff in level 1 so this makes a nice change - although I sweated loads! I do need to invest in some proper weights though, I dread to think how bashed about my tinned tomatoes are getting. Grin

monahue · 01/02/2011 17:01

mychildrenarebarmy Did you lose the stone just by shredding? I am trying to combine it with a healthy eating regime but this has already fallen by the wayside!
I did Day 2 of Level 1 last night and it wasn't any easier - the first circuit of cardio is a killer! But I did it all and when I got weighed this morning the scales said 13st 1. Now I know I shouldn't get weighed every day but thats got to be a good sign??
Day 3 will start when the kids are tucked up - hapy shredding ladies!

mychildrenarebarmy · 01/02/2011 19:02

monahue I only got the DVD a couple of weeks ago. The stone loss was just boring old eating less. Mostly just trying to make sure I was aware of if I was actually hungry or not. I am terrible for eating because I am bored/tired/hungry/sad/happy/breathing. Grin I decided to find an exercise DVD because I wanted to do something. The gym was out because of the cost and swimming was out because the pools nearby are currently pretty scummy. I did start going running but I felt so self concious that I hated going.

sb6699 · 01/02/2011 19:20

I've had to bow out for today Sad

My knees are really killing me! I shredded yesterday morning despite the pain and then did a Zumba class in the evening.

By the time I got home I was in agony - it actually feels as if they're about to give way.

Hoping that resting today will mean I can go again tomorrow.

FreeButtonBee · 01/02/2011 20:04

Day 6 here. Cardio is definitely much much easier now. I still hate anita press ups and i am rubbish at them in the second set. The lunges at the end are getting better. In the lsst set i have to raise alternate arms towards the end as a variation cos My arms are too weak from the rest of the strength but getting there. I've even upped my game on the chest flys and noe have my legs st 90 degrees so giving the abs a bit more of a workout.

Getting a wee bit bored now but want to improve my form so intend to stick withit til Day 10. Keep up the good work people!
