Try not to focus too much on weight as it fluctuates for lots of reasons, time of the month, water retention especially, when your muscles repair themselves they require water to do this so your body will often retain it, especially if you are not drinking enough throughout the day. As long as your clothes are getting looser then it is working.

Unfortunately it is not possible to spot reduce fat, everyone holds there fat differently. Mine is mainly on my thighs and hips so this is the last place that I ever see any changes. If your stomach is where you hold most of your weight then it might be that you start noticing changes in other parts of your body first, give it time. I have loose skin on my stomach from eating too much in my pregnancies Grin and that is not going to ever disappear totally but doing the plank and variations of it has given me a flat stomach apart from the crinkly bit.

What you are eating is obviously important as well as you can't out exercise an unhealthy diet.

Give it time and just make sure you are always challenging yourself with the exercises. Once you feel like you can do all the reps and could keep going for a bit longer then you need to look for a harder challenge if you want to keep seeing changes.

thanks lostgirl

Momentarynamechange · 28/01/2011 13:20

thanks for that, it's very reassuring! And actually what you said makes perfect sense Lostgirl. I'm almost as out of breath doing the strength stuff as I am doing cardio. Am using DP's 2 kg weights and they huuuuuuurt!

I haven't weighed or measured unfortunately (or fortunately?!) but I definitely feel slimmer and pretty sure I'm doing up a further notch on my jeans belt Smile

who would ever think 20 mins could pack such a punch Grin

thanks again x

Level 1 - Day 6

This should really be day 7 but I missed a day.

Am starting to feel Level 1 getting easier and DH mentioned that my arms are becoming more defined. I am definately not as bloated in the belly as I was but suppose that could be for a number of reasons.

I had been complaining that I didnt have any proper trainers so my DH (bless him) stopped off at the sports shop on the way home from work yesterday and bought me a pair and some dance pants. Not sure whether to think how thoughtful of him or whether he thinks his wife is enormous and really needs to do something about it!

Joby1970 · 28/01/2011 13:52

sb6699 - I think that's lovely of your DH

BalloonSlayer · 28/01/2011 13:54

Well done everyone!

I shredded early today and now feel virtuous and glad to get it out of the way. That was Day 6 of Level 2. Blimey!

Like a lot of you others I have had no weight loss to speak of at all. But I do look better, although I am not sure anyone else would notice.

I had practically no muscles anyway so any muscular build up has got to be an improvement! Grin

BTW what are you supposed to do when you have finished the 30 days? Apart from streak across the local cricket pitch to show off your new shape?

DilysPrice · 28/01/2011 17:20

Day 1 level 1. New beginning after six weeks off with Christmas/visitors/illness.
Depressed by my post Christmas flabbiness, which seems to have undone all my pre-Christmas shredding, but very pleased that I've apparently retained the fitness benefits - I did several actual press-ups, which would have been unthinkable six months ago, I used my 1.5kg weights for almost all the strength, and 0.5 kg weights for almost all the cardio.
I was quite dead at the end of it, but today I'm not too stiff at all, despite skipping the cool down because that's when the delivery man rang the doorbell with our curry Blush.

DilysPrice · 28/01/2011 17:23

Oh and Freecycle has provided me with comedy dumbbell weights of 3 and 5 kilos for when I grow too strong for my 1.5kg ones .

JelliBelli · 28/01/2011 18:00

Ooh! only just found this thread.

On L1 day 8. I use my soup tins for the side lunge and anterior lift and also for the squat and lift. Otherwise i use my 1.5kg. Feeling much improved from Day 1 and can see a change just above my waste. Can notice a difference in my thighs and upper arms.

I've just read the last few pages of the thread and am now nervous of doing L2 after day 10 Shock

JelliBelli · 28/01/2011 18:02

Not my waste obviously Blush but my waist.

That'll teach me to preview it first....

peanutsmuggler · 28/01/2011 21:14

Just had my first try at level 2 (Anita style) it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, I think if I'd followed Natalie it would've killed me off though!

I really wish I'd taken measurements before I started shredding, my waist definetly feels smaller and I think my bum has lifted a little bit.

DilysPrice · 28/01/2011 21:49

Day 2, level 1 - feeling very rough during the beginning circuit, but made it all the way through with heaviest Argos weights (1.5kg) and 0.5 kgs for all the cardio, so that is Progress Smile.

mychildrenarebarmy · 29/01/2011 08:11

Can anyone recommend a good, non-slip exercise mat for using on laminate floor? At the moment I am using my sons Radiator springs playmant with a blanket on top!

herbaceous · 29/01/2011 11:56

Gah. Just done day 5, I think, of level 2, after a day off, and it was BLASTED HARD. I swear I will never be able to do more than three squat thrusts. Or one proper press up. Or look anything like any of those three beeatches.

icapturethecastle · 29/01/2011 12:11

First day today. Now sitting on the sofa feeling a little shaky - how unfit am I. Had my DS who is 3 jumping around trying to copy and insisted I put it on for him again so he could do it again!! Am I going to hurt later?

herbaceous · 29/01/2011 13:10

And I've put on two pounds! Despite shredding, and never eating more than 1400 calories a day!

notyummy · 29/01/2011 16:04

Herb- could it be hormonal? I put on weight at various times of the month.

Today is my birthday and DH and I are such crazy hedonists that we celebrated together by doing levels 2 and 3 back to back. It felt good actually- although those jumping lunges get me every time!! Did quite a long run yesterday so my legs were already tired ..

Momentarynamechange · 29/01/2011 23:07

Hello shredders Smile
Now I found you, thought I'd check in from time to time to see how you're doing and report my progress....

So...last day of level 2 tommorrow...then on to the dreaded level 3!!!

I last posted that level 2 was bloody hard, but the last 2 times I've done it have definitely been easier.

Didn't measure or weigh myself at the start but definitely feel slimmer/more toned. (Have developed an unfortunate habit of cupping my buttocks at inappropriate moments to reassure myself Blush)

One minus point for me is the arms. They weren't too big to start with, but shred has appeared to inflate them. They don't look lean/long, but more swollen banana now. Hoping that will improve Hmm

Hope you're all doing well, will check in on day 1, level....THREE (faints!)

night all x

MissMarjoribanks · 29/01/2011 23:25

Oh god. I bought some 2.5kg weights today as I 'only' had 1kg ones. The shop I went to didn't have any 2kg ones.

Tomorrow is going to hurt. Especially as I haven't done it for two days.

Disclaimer: I have been playing the cello which is a bloody good upper body workout.

Disclaimer 2: I have drunk lots of booze.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 30/01/2011 09:34

Playing the cello. :) I like.

AntPants1 · 30/01/2011 14:01

Hello not yummy from the W&A thread! Happy Belated Birthday and well done on all the shredding. Have just found this thread. Am on day 27.

What are people planning to do once they have finished the 30 days??????

X

notyummy · 30/01/2011 18:27

Yoga for me today as achey after my double shredding yesterday!

Re your question Ants. Some eople doing the whole thing again with heavier weights. Others trying Burn Fat Boost Metabolism or 6 Week 6 Pack. I also rate Billy Blanks Bootcamp workout, which is pretty tough- but if you can do everything in level 3 then only a slight step up.

sb6699 · 30/01/2011 18:47

Level 1 - Day 7

Missed out yesterday as well so should be day 9 but my knees are flipping killing me!

Wonder if its because I missed Thursdays workout.

So Ants - how are things towards the ends. Are you well and truly shredded or is it a big farce Grin

FreeButtonBee · 30/01/2011 18:53

Day 5 of Level 1: getting a bit easier i think. Can definitely do the cardio without too much pain now, and other than the hated press up and anterior raise/ side lunge, the strength is manageable. I go quire a bit slower on most of the strength than them but would rather do it right than fast. Dare i say it, i'm kinda looking forward to Level 2.

Once i am about half way through level 2 I thinkt hat I will be fit enough to start running again (slowly).

Also need to buy another sports bra. Just threw away one that i realised i bought at uni about 12 years ago! Had to hold my breasts on friday when i was doing the skipping! Will invest in another shock absorber scaffolding jobbie.

AntPants1 · 30/01/2011 20:32

not yummy thanks for tips. Tempted by 6 weeks 6 pack. Is that lots of cardio? Is is Jillian?

sb6699 it's pretty impressive results. Promise. I have also been watching what I eat. Not dieting as such but cutting out the snacks and chocolate. Have also really limited the wine to weekends etc. I was pretty flabby and lardy to start with so I need some more work but I have dropped a dress size and feel much more toned and am happier with my body than I have been in a long time so I am real fan of jillian! I am pretty slothful and certainly not inclined to exercise if I can help it. I think the fact that it is just 20 mins is the reason for its success. Any longer and I am sure I would have given up long ago. So keep at it. Hope that helps to motivate you.
