Can I join you? Not been on here for a lifetime! Just rejoined Slimming World and looking forward to Jillian Michaels making me hurt on a daily basis!

When is everyone starting?

MyBrilliantCareer · 31/12/2010 16:59

Erm yes I only did the two minutes stretch at the end. Also, I can be really lazy and hadn't done any work for ages. Thighs hurt for longer - I'd definitely stretch for longer next time and also she doesn't stretch calves which get some workout too, so I stretch them as well.

savedbygrace · 31/12/2010 18:38

Phew - I was worried that I would have to start tomorrow! My copy is getting dusty - quite excited now.

HarkTheDragonAngelsSing · 01/01/2011 03:34

Can someone who already has the DVD tell me if theres lots of bending over please spoke to DR today and she said take it easy on the bending (broken nose)

HarkTheDragonAngelsSing · 01/01/2011 03:35

Oh and happy new year shreaders

vnmum · 01/01/2011 09:29

Hark there is't much bending over on level 1 but there is abit of getting up and down to the floor and lots of jumping jacks and running/skipping on the spot

picc · 01/01/2011 10:27

was going to ask same question about things where you support yourself with wrists!

(like press-ups and stuff)

i have carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists from last pregnancy. getting slightly better now. don't want to bugger em up again!

is there a lot of that kind of stuff in it? if so, i may have to leave it for now Sad
if not too much, i can just do alternative things ( like sitting on the sofa )

picc you can do press ups of a sort against a wall where you wont be bearing all your weight on your wrists. or try the knee ones to begin with

WhatTheDeuce · 01/01/2011 11:02

Happy New Year!!

Staggered on to other thread this morning to get some much needed healthy, positive non-hungover inspiration for tomorrow to discover we've merged so will introduce mysef here instead Grin

I have 3 children under 5 and the stomach to prove it.

Am hoping Jillian will pound motivate me into shape.

picc · 01/01/2011 11:07

:) thanks Cybil. will try the wall thing first. hadn't thought of that!

HeroShrew · 01/01/2011 11:58

marking my place - I did five days in a row before christmas but then got lurgy and have given up for a bit. I swear that I can see results after only 5 days so I'll be back on the train to shredsville as soon as I'm de-bunged.

NB any new starters - take heart, I hadn't done as much as a jumping jack for at least two years and it wasn't toooo horrific. The short duration means that it's easier to face again the next day.

MyBrilliantCareer · 01/01/2011 12:51

Hurrah! I saw results after 5 days already too so am very keen to get back on it for the full 30 days.

Now just to get over the hangover.....

WhatTheDeuce · 01/01/2011 13:35

Sigh, had forgotten jumping jack hell! Can tell Gillian has pelvic floor of solid titanium.

Must remember to empty bladder before starting to avoid sprinting to loo part way through (can't pause DVD, pelvic floors aren't that bad)

DontCallMeBaby · 01/01/2011 22:06

Signing in ... finally broke my DVD out of its cellophane today, having been a bit lazy over Christmas. I've been doing EA Fitness on the Wii, running, swimming and a bit of zumba up until now (can't believe I'm typing that, three months ago my fitness summary would have been 'I have been mostly sitting on my increasingly fat arse for 38 years').

I'm either not fully over my cold OR I ate too much over Christmas OR I should have left it a bit longer after the chocolate orange, but I feel decidedly peculiar. And those jumping jacks are evil. It's a good job my sports bra is, like Gillian's pelvic floor, made of titanium.

susall · 02/01/2011 09:07

Thanks Cybil about the standing press up tip will be doing that until I get a bit more strength in my arms.
I have found that I can do the last sections cardio at a higher intensity than the other two sections so I have started to do that for all three of them. It means I can do the Natalie skips each time rather than following Anita.
I am up to workout 13 on level 1, have been doing 2 some days when I can, and will not move up until I can do each of the excersises without stopping as I had a look at level 2 and that looks Shock

vnmum · 02/01/2011 09:18

just done day 1 level 1. My legs are like jelly and raising my arms to type make them shake, lol. I must remember to stretch during the day today otherwise i won't be able to walk downstairs tomorrow. I must be fitter than the last time i tried it because i didn't need to have a break this time. roll on day 2 tomorrow

paarrp · 02/01/2011 12:49

Hello all - may I join you all?

I'm an old shredder but haven't done it since the summer where I really got into it.

Am on day three here and it is definitely getting easier already - am determined to fit it in when dc's go back to school - I'm naturally an early morning exerciser but there is no way I can fit it in before school and work so may try doing it in the evenings.

What I love about the shred is that you start seeing results really quickly - when I last did it I think after about 10 days I was definitely losing flab round my stomach.

Mmmango · 02/01/2011 13:07

Hello, would like to join too if that's okay - am on Level 1 Day 5. Can get through the whole thing without collapsing stopping now, so some change already, but it was really hard to start today so hopefully posting will help with motivation.

What happens at the end of the 30 days? Surely by that time Level 1 will be too easy, so we can't start again at the beginning?

mermaidspurse · 02/01/2011 13:44

hello can I join too. I have managed to just be able to sit down to type this after trying day one yesterday.

It hurts a lot.

Made myself feel more healthy by using a can of kidney beans and some other unidentified can of beans instead of weights.

Did I not do enough stretching? Was sort of fit back in Novemberish and didn't think I would hurt quite this much.

Obviously kidding myself and how does Jillian manage to talk and jump.

vnmum · 02/01/2011 14:42

Mmmango I was on another shred thread earlier last year and most people were doing 10 days at each level to amount to 30 days then either repeating or doing a mix up of the levels or doing two levels together to have a longer workout

Xales · 02/01/2011 15:05

OMG! Just done day 1 level 1.

Well tried. Couldn't quite complete the third circuit. I have the shakes and could hardly walk up my stairs afterwards.

Will go again tomorrow.

I need a decent bra!!!!

peaky123 · 02/01/2011 18:39

did my first workout today, roped my sister in for moral support too. Thought it was good, not boring, just the right amount of bossiness, and my face was bright red and sweaty at the end!
Didnt use any weights as i was scared, but have some 2kgs i will use tomo.
Anyone else have old lady knees which hurt doing the half push ups??? I had to put a cushion under them!

MyBrilliantCareer · 02/01/2011 18:45

I'm having to do day 1 and 2 tomorrow as I spent most of the day in Brussels with a lost passport issue.

But I'm on it!!

Where's everyone else??!

MyBrilliantCareer · 02/01/2011 18:47

Peaky123 I have one hurty knee Sad
