Level 1, day 8. Used my new weights. Now I can't even lift a glass of water to my mouth.

DD and DS2 did it with me because I couldn't put it off again.

They would like to know why 'bossy woman' calls star jumps 'jumping jacks' and what is a 'tush'? Grin

LadyOfTheFlowers · 23/01/2011 12:57

:o

I am finding myself using the word 'tush'!!

Herb - When I did my calf I carried on shredding - think I had one day off from it - and did it at a lower pace. I found I could do it if I didn't go too deep into things like the lunges etc. As soon as it twinged, that was my maximum, couldn't do jump ropes with the strain but could do the rest very gently.

I think though, I only had a minor strain, but it did really hurt the next day.

herbaceous · 23/01/2011 13:36

I'm going for level 2, with minimal bouncing. I may report back, if I still have use of my arms.

hobbgoblin · 23/01/2011 13:39

Day 3 level 1 - a cross between Anita and Natalie style.

I am about to do day 3 as had a rest day yesterday (too busy with 4 dC plus 2 extra friends and then making soup for 200 people for a welly wanging competition Grin)

Because I felt bad about missing a day I decided to measure myself and have lost between half and inch and an inch on all areas (waist, hips, thighs, arse) but gained on calf measurement slightly.

I feel much less achey today and can walk downstairs in normal fashion instead of sideways so also feel that I'll be able to go back to Natalie style as I just don't hurt s o much. What I'm wondering is whether I should actually do 2 days on one day off. When I went to the gym regularly my personal trainer always said one should do this otherwise you get overly contracted muscles which bulk rather than become long and lean. Plus the injury risk. Anyone know what is best?

Did anyone else ache so much that it was hard to sit on the toilet? I had to grip onto the walls to lower myself and nappy wearing was becoming a strangely attractive option...

hobbgoblin · 23/01/2011 13:47

Oh, and like many others, weight gain (1kg) rather than any loss. Did have a deep fried Mard Bar this weekend though Blush

herbaceous · 23/01/2011 14:23

Egads. I had to have a long lie down on the carpet after that (day 1 level 2). And that was Anita style. With no bouncy cardio. Will I ever be able to do a squat thrust? Or those infernal plank jacks? Seems a foolish pipe dream.

Hobgoblin - level 1 was no longer making me ache, which is why I moved to level 2. I think tomorrow i may have your toilet sitting issues!

southeastastra · 23/01/2011 15:48

omg just did level 2 (day 1 too) my back and my arms argh!

the press up twisty and jumpy things are impossible! though i enjoyed the skating move. am sweating tons more today.

herbaceous · 23/01/2011 15:59

I know! I didn't sweat much with level 1, but am a dripping wreck with level two.

I found myself actually enjoying the walk-down press-up thing. Though I didn't do the press-up element of it.

Piccalilli2 · 23/01/2011 17:39

Level 1 day....lost track completely but probably 8 or 9? Still can't do it Natalie-stylee but I can now do both sets of Anita push-ups. Think I might need heavier weights though, mine are only 1kg.

I reckon Anita secretly loathes Jillian and spends the whole workout thinking 'die bitch, I have better abs than you, how come you have your own dvd'

I may need to get out more

herbaceous · 23/01/2011 19:23

I think Anita's fuming that she has to show the 'easy' version of the moves, and is jealous of Jillian's easy rapport with Natalie. In fact, there might be a bit of girl love going on between those two.

Evening all,

I have been at my parents for the last 3 days so no shredding, I have done 2 runs however so feel ok about the non-shredding. Back to Level 2 tomorrow, bit apprehensive!

hobb I have never heard that, even tho it is good to have rest days.

herb I am the same, drippy mess at end of Level 2. Lovely.

sighnomore · 23/01/2011 19:55

Haven't shredding today for no other reason than after no alcohol all month I had 3 large glasses of wine last night and consequently have been tired and grouchy all day Blush

Level 2 day 2 tomorrow!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 23/01/2011 20:04

So many of you are going onto L2 - I chickened out today and did another L1. Blush But..... I did do all of it, Natalie style except the push-ups, have to do those Anita style still. Hmm

I also attempted a pilates DVD yesterday but gave up halfway through when it came to sodeways planks but managed the whole DVD about 20 mins ago. :)

DH booked flights to go out to his mums' in Spain at the end of June. I am excited, but not at the same time as I have 5 stone to shift - it's not going to happen by then and I might not be able to fit my kaboose in the seat comfortably. I am also worrying about my thighs rubbing as in 30 odd degree dry heat I am going to be wanting to wear shorts/skirts.

How much does anyone think I can lose by then?
I am also being very good with food.

southeastastra · 23/01/2011 20:10

Grin herb i get that vibe too lol

hobbgoblin · 23/01/2011 20:16

I am going to go onto level 2 as soon as I can do both sets of push ups Anita style I think. Apart from aching, I don't find the workout seriously awful and can do Natalie for most of it, so do you all think that after 7 days I should just do L2 even if my press ups aren't uo to par?

Remind me, when do you experience weight loss? I know the Mars bar isn't a great move towrds this but I eat weirdly and spend every other day just eating pitta bread for lunch and then leftover pasta plus sauce (about 3 tablespooons on a side plate) for dinner or whatever the DC have in micro sized portion.

When I once weighed around 6 stone I was living on trifle and raisin toast every day for weeks. I'd need therapy more than a diet. Hmm

Natalie is HUGE, and has no cellulite. And Anita is definitely a stepford wife and serial killer.

coolkat · 23/01/2011 20:19

Hi

I have been shredding for the past week but can I ask a question I can't do the jumping jacks Blush so do a run on the spot whilst doing the jumping jack arms so just make sure I am still doing a cardio move, do you think because of this I will not see results?

Today is day 8. Did level 2 once because of couriosity and enjoyed it on level 2 I did the running thing instead of the jumping twists bloody pelvic floor

LostGirl · 23/01/2011 20:21

hobb I have never heard that either. The shape of your muscles, like most things to do with your body, is already determined by your genetics. There are no exercises that will give you long and lean muscles, and different exercises which will give you bulky ones, just exercises which will make your muscles get stronger. Rest days are definitely a good thing though as it is during this time that the muscles really have time to recover, repair and rebuild properly.

LadyofTheFlowers give level 2 a try, you can do it. One of the reasons why the shred is effective is that you are not doing the same routine for 30 days straight. The saying is that the best workout for you is the one you haven't done yet.

FoundWanting · 23/01/2011 20:33

LadyoftheFlowers I think you could probably lose 3 stone by the end of June without having to live on cabbage soup. Are you following a diet or just cutting out the crap?

DS1 has "never seen such big legs" as Natalie's. She doesn't get very low in the squats, does she?

Anita is dangerous. If I were Jillian I would be very nervous with her standing behind me.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 23/01/2011 20:59

I thought 3 stone might be achieveable - then I will only have 2 left to shift. :)

I have cut all crap, cut potatoes and bread too.

Just eating healthily really. Lean meats, lots of veg, some fruit, low fat cottage cheese with onions and chives (loving this!), tuna, sardines, salad, drinking water mostly and tea that sort of stuff. My appetite seems reduced since I have been more active.... Confused
I don't feel ill/light headed/dizzy/irritable as I did in the past on WW so I guess I am doing it right?

I will also have a good crack at L2 tomorrow - I promise! :)

hobbgoblin · 23/01/2011 21:12

Natalie would murder you by stabbing with a sharpened pencil I reckon.

I really do need to eat some proper food. i cook enough of it.

I like that saying LostGirl :)

coolkat, when I do jumping jacks my arms are out of synch with my legs and I have to keep correcting. I can't say about the weight loss because I'm not a pro in this department at all, sorry.

MistyB · 23/01/2011 21:22

OMG!!!! I have just done level 3!! It is insane!!

I've been lurking while doing level 1 and 2 (5 days each - I wanted to power through as I have a glam dress to squeeze into on Saturday!)

Level 3 is completely bonkers!!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 23/01/2011 21:30

I think Natalie is more likely to crush the breathe out of you using those thighs....

falsemessageoflethargy · 23/01/2011 22:10

Very sore thighed after another level 2 - not sure I will ever be able to do 3 properly - I watch dh doing it and cringe...

sb6699 · 23/01/2011 22:36

Level 1 - Day 2

Felt very smug this morning as I only ache slightly rather than being doubled in agony as I expected.

Found the workout much harder today though presumably because my muscles are still recovering from yesterday and its been such a long time since I did any strenuous exercise.

Totally ruined all my hard work by having a hot chocolate pudding though - so much for cutting out the crap!

Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
