just done it again, want to stuff myself with huge dinner Grin the bending knee part really gets you doesn't it

LadyOfTheFlowers · 13/01/2011 16:55

Whiter - I was also considering doing extra buttkicks or jump rope in place of the stars as it seems it's only the stars that hurt.

Unless someone else can suggest better so we don't get too bored.

(Am bored with L1 but know I wouldn't manage enough of L2 for it to be effective.)

Tw1nkle · 13/01/2011 16:56

Hi everyone, I;m new to this post, and have just done level 1 for the first time - oh dear!!!

I struggled a lot!

I'm going to Persevere though, so hopefully it will get easier!

I've taken my measurements too, so hopefully they will start to reduce also.

I'm going to measure again on the 1st February.

Good Luck to everyone.
xx

southeastastra · 13/01/2011 17:05

i also can't get over how sweaty i am Grin my hair is so wet! like on a swealtering hot summer's day

MissMarjoribanks · 13/01/2011 17:50

I'm having today and tomorrow off as I have rehearsals. I think I need it anyway as I have found it harder and harder rather than easier.

See you on Saturday shredders and good luck.

vnmum · 13/01/2011 17:51

Hi all,

Did day 8 level 1 today. I should really watch level 2 as day 10 is looming but i'm abit scared.

I had my WI at weight watchers today and have lost 3lb. thats with do ww, shredding and about 2 runs this week. i didn't even shred every day, i think i missed 3 days so i'm pleased with that result.

I even managed to do the first set of pressups in the plank position. Could only manage 2 in that position in the second set however but it's still an improvement.

Beany I have both Jillians "Master your metabolism" and "winning by losing" books. They are good inspiration but abit hardcore. The "winning" book gives abit about her life story which is interesting but also covers all about metabolism, metabolic rate, exercise, good foods etc. There is also a workout plan in the back but it's mainly weights.

The "metabolism" book is interesting but hard work. It's very scientific and if you followed her rules in it, you would only eat organic, never use plastic containers or bottles, have a very restricted diet, never eat anything treat wise and could potentially think you have a number of metabolic affecting medical conditions. If your into the science of it all it's good but for the everyday joe, it's a tad tedious.

Is anyone watching Jillian in action on biggest loser US?

hormonalmum · 13/01/2011 22:54

I am new to shredding - just done day 4,level 1. Am currently using tins for weights as cannot find my hand weights and do not want to buy anymore yet in case I quit before I get going...
Today was ok - find the second set hardest but as today wasn't too bad, I watched some of level 2 - and I think it will be a few months days before I can attempt that.
I have 2 dc around Thursday and Fridays so having to do it when they have gone to bed but I like doing it in the morning and getting it out of the way.

Not sure I can fit it in at all tomorrow, but will do my best.

MyBrilliantCareer · 13/01/2011 23:21

I've not shredded today as was in the pub busy, but I really can feel my abs are musch stronger than ever.

Thanks for posting, am feelng much more motivated after reading them all!

nomorecake · 14/01/2011 00:09

lady of flowers - give level2 a go. do it at anita's level and you'll probably do better than you think. and you'll get better at it.

might be tough at first, but better than getting bored??

conquita · 14/01/2011 03:55

For those doing level one, if the jumping jacks etc are doing your head in, try jumping 10 times then turning round and facing a different wall, looking at the same spot makes it last for ever, so keep turning round and facing different walls after around 10 jumps and it goes a lot quicker. This was what someone else advised on another thread and it really worked for me.

DontCallMeBaby · 14/01/2011 08:02

libra I'm doing Race For Life, also in June, 10K if my friend has her way (5K if I have mine) otherwise I would probably go for the swim.

I'm having a hard time as I've rather stupidly let my prescription run out (thyroid meds) and my energy and mood has crashed. Will struggle on through though.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 14/01/2011 09:07

dontcall good luck for the running, very understandable about not wanting to do the swim as well but have you thought about training for a triathlon if you swim and run already?

south my mat is always dripping with sweat. Not very sexy.

vnum 3lbs is great weight loss, remember you have to have a 3500 calorie deficit for each pound you lose.

hormonal welcome! Buy some weights and then you have even more incentive to continue! BTW I put DC in front of TV with food and drink so I can do shred bad mum

herb sorry if I have asked this before but have you tested for diastatis recti if you think your abs aren't the same?

lady I agree with nomorecake you should try level 2, you might surprise yourself, also Jillian has Anita doing easier modifications for most exercises (thank goodness). Also no alchol? How do you cope with the DC? Smile

Slight panic this morning when I couldn't get the DVD to work in the laptop (DC have TV to keep them quiet!) but after 10mins fiddling it eventually fired up (with no sound). Found it harder going today than I did a couple of days ago when I trialled it mid-level 1 but think I just need a rest as have done 2 runs and 5 shreds this week. Tonight out to pub and tomorrow NO EXERCISE (well apart from pushing DD1 around London in pushchair). Sunday shred plus run.

Hope everyone has good weekends to look forward to and has time to fit in the shred. Just do it! (God I hate Nike)

vnmum · 14/01/2011 09:48

My post yesterday should have said Day9 done which means today should be day 10 and level 2 started over the weekend, oh crumbs, i haven't even watched it yet.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 14/01/2011 09:56

I will have a go at L2 today and report back - but I will be doing NO jumping jacks as my knees are seriously pissed off and now the right one clicks deep inside behind the knee cap. Confused

Also the right onewas very sore when I kneeled down in the Co-op just now to load pushchair basket with fresh fruit, veg, crackerbreads Hmm and onion and chive cottage cheese. :)

BalloonSlayer · 14/01/2011 10:00

My DS2 (3) just called up the stairs "Are woo going to do your exererercising? I got my trainers on! Are woo putting wours on?"

He loved "doing it with me" yesterday, bless him, it was so cute.

BalloonSlayer · 14/01/2011 11:53

Does anyone want to borrow DS2 if you think Jillian isn't motivational enough.

I was going to Shred when he was at ?re-school this afternoon. Thanks to: "Do it NOW Mummy. Do wor essersizes NOW" I have done it already and feel very virtuous.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 14/01/2011 12:07

Bless him. :)

I had DS1 (5) 'motivating' me yesterday after school - I sat round mothers' all day during school, exhausted -

'Your belly does NOT look like theirs'

'Them ladies are not as shiny as you Mum'

'Right down Mum, then up, then SQUEEZE!!'

Cheers Son, I love you too. :o

FoundWanting · 14/01/2011 12:27

My amazon parcel has arrived!

I'm strangely nervous about opening it though and I'm telling myself there is no point starting on a Friday.

kkey21 · 14/01/2011 12:53

Gutted!

I weighed in yesterday after dedicating 8 days in a row to exercise.
6 shreds, 1 zumba and 2 runs.

Lost ZERO pounds-at least expected 1lb off!

Didn't measure but had an idea so remeasured and no difference. I was doing the tougher version of level 1 aswell

I WILL continue! I even cut out all snacks and chocolate, bread etc, i'll have to maybe chop a leg off or something?

My DH says i may not see any results at the mo but all of a sudden may do if i keep up with it? What do you think?

herbaceous · 14/01/2011 13:34

I hope your DH is right! I have only lost one pound in ten days of deprivation, but only three shreds, so am hoping for a big loss soon or I'll just give up and start trying to earn sponsorship money as the UK's fattest woman.

bandgeek · 14/01/2011 13:50

Hi all

I've had Jillian sitting in my cupboard for a month or two but have read through this whole thread and you lot have inspired me!

I dusted it off and did Day 1 Level 1 earlier on. My legs feel like jelly and my arms feel like they are on fire but I'm chuffed I completed it. I don't think I have any hope of ever doing a press up tough, full on or on all fours. I appear unable to lift my own weight Hmm. What made the humiliation worse was 4 year old DD on the floor beside me doing proper army style press ups! Gymnastics class for that girl, I think Grin

I've signed up with WW this week as well - this time in 3 months I am going to be slinky!

herbaceous · 14/01/2011 14:28

Welcome bandgeek!

It's funny - things that seem easier (relatively!) one day are harder the next, and vice versa. Press ups (Anita-style) easier today, but shoulder raises a killer. My legs feel like they're getting stronger already.

I've got my baby pals coming round this afternoon, and at least one of them's bound to bring a biscuit. RESIST. RESIST.

DontCallMeBaby · 14/01/2011 15:32

libra I do in fact have my beady little eye on a mini triathlon in September, sadly no one has reacted with anything other than mild incredulity to this idea. It's fair enough - the run and swim are relatively short, but the cycle is actually further than I've ever cycled in one go, and as we live in a bit of a basin at least some of it is going to be uphill. I'm not terribly keen on uphill.

bandgeek in the spirit of research I've just got DD (6) to do some press-ups. WAY better than me. Funny, you'd think they'd be difficult as small children have all their weight up top, big heads and that.

southeastastra · 14/01/2011 19:21

i agree with herb as today i ache like day one after doing it. seemed a little easier to do but only slightly.

have bought myself a lovely blue mat today Grin makes a difference to the ropey carpet.

herbaceous · 14/01/2011 19:38

My knees now hurt under the kneecap when I go downstairs, or bend down. I nearly dropped DS today. This isn't good.
