Hey everyone, so good to hear so many people feeling the difference. I've not shredded since Saturday (but I did do a 3m run on Sat as well, Bikram yoga on Sunday and a 3m run today, so not completely lazy) - but I can feel it. I'm starting to be convinced that it really is super effective and even though running is my priority I will need to slot in the shred almost daily too.

So anyone got any ideas about how often I can shred and see good results but also fit in a training schedule for the marathon (I'm giving myself these two weeks to get used to running as I'm starting from scratch). I'm thinking 4 times per week, or two levels at once twice a week. I can't shred and do a run at the same time (the runs are enough, and will be as they get longer and faster), which means doing one in the morning before work and one in the evening...but is this sustainable? Or should I just lessen the running a bit and push on with a shred 6 times per week.

Help! Ideas anyone? I bloody want sexy arms and tummy.

Level 1, Day 4. I felt it in the arms quite a bit today, which I hadn't been so far. Though I did manage the whole first section of push ups in the plank position, though went onto my knees for the second set.

I've just weighed myself again (with my clothes on) at 9st 11, which is 3lb less than yesterday. Shock I suspect it's just water retention making the difference.

Right - on the exercise bike for a cool down. Then the ironing. Sad

LadyOfTheFlowers · 11/01/2011 21:48

Herb.... Blush
Maybe just a little bit, and I am happily married.

Anyhoo.... moving swiftly on...!

Thanks to all who post answers to my questions etc, please don't be offended if I don't reply direct - I am too dense to remember who everyone is and what everyone said and have to keep rolling the screen up and down and miss bits. Blush

I managed okay with the weights - I have gone from 515g to 1.1kg.

I watched level 2 and even had a go to see just how much my crappy core is going to hinder me and the answer is majorly. :(
I was doing really well until the first exercise in plank position - not the walking hands down into plank, but the plank with the first legs bit.

I think I have pulled a muscle too, my right calf - not from shredding - from going too fast on my stepper. Hmm
What's the best plan of action here? I don't find the shred bothers it too much, apart from jumping jacks and jump ropes and I have not stepped today.
I Googled about pulled muscles and it said to rest up for 2 weeks!! Shock Surely not - I can't stop shredding now. :(

Well done KKey :)

South - I found the pain strangely enjoyable and didn't even know Blush there were muscles that high up in my belly! Shock :o

poorbuthappy · 11/01/2011 22:01

Finally got my dvd today and started level 1 (obviously) tonight.

I did think I was going to die in the middle and then felt strangely better at the end!

Has anyone measured or are we all doing it by weight?

IShallWearMidnight · 11/01/2011 23:17

Amazon have just told me I need to wait till the 15th before they are interested in finding my DVD Sad. They don't care about my wobbly bits and lack of BADOING at all Sad.

MyBrilliantCareer · 12/01/2011 06:37

IshallwearMidnight that's annoying. Feel for you. I still say cancel order and download Smile

Shred Level 2 done for the day.

Enjoy your day!

bluebump · 12/01/2011 07:43

Ok so first morning after day one and now I ache!!

BalloonSlayer · 12/01/2011 08:17

My weekly results

Last Wednesday, before I started I was 9st 5 3/4 lbs, and my waist was 28"

I am 5'4 1/2" tall

TODAY . . . < drumroll > I am 9st 5 1/2 lbs and my waist is 27"

Confused

I know I'd have said I wasn't doing it to lose weight, as I am not overweight, but bloody hell I'd have expected to lose more than a quarter of a sodding pound! My pre-Christmas weight, which I have been at for about 2 years was 9st 4lb FFS!

And yeah I know all that about muscle weighing more than fat, but it's only been a week and I can't imagine I have built up loads of heavy muscle in that time.

HOWEVER . . . I feel much slimmer, and my stomach, which was a disaster area however much I lost, is looking better. And that's what I want. So - onwards and upwards Smile

southeastastra · 12/01/2011 08:22

an inch off your tummy though! that's where i want to lose it.

notyummy · 12/01/2011 08:34

An inch in a week is great!

And well done on the aches Blue- it means you aren't phoning it in!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 12/01/2011 08:59

Balloon if you are feeling and looking better in yourself then I think that's a better result than just losing weight! An inch is great result.

herb not sure about girl crush but I want Jillians butt.

Lady how is your calf feeling today?

MBC I would say it depends on what your actual goal is - if you are training to run an actual marathon then I would say that is what you should concentrate on, with doing the shred when you have some extra time or on a non-running day (but you should have at least one complete rest day where maybe all you do is go for a walk). Or if you already go to a gym you could ask one of the instructors to design you an upper body programme which can run in conjunction with doing marathon training.

notyummy *waves - bought anything nice recently ;) I am not weighing or measuring but have bought a pair of 7FAM jeans to aim to get into!! The A&W method of weight loss :)

I have just done Level 2 (was interested after all the comments) and OMG it ROCKS. Great workout! Probably not a great idea to do it the same day as a run is scheduled but I felt like doing something different (and in exercise terms a change is good as a rest) back to Level 1 tomorrow but not afraid of Level 2 anymore, in fact. Bring.It.On.

Hope everyone has a good day.

SlantyBaws · 12/01/2011 09:00

Well done everyone!

I'm having a night off (sorry) pre-menstrual with a glass of red.

Have a good day everyone!

racmac · 12/01/2011 10:26

Hello everyone
Ive had the shred since last June and I did it then and thought it was great.
Have been doing other things since then but have just started level 1 day 1 again today using 5lb weights.

Need to loose a stone i think - what diet is everyone following?

Whitershadeofpale · 12/01/2011 11:43

I did day 4 last night (level 1) but am going striaght out from work tonight so got up at 6 this morning to get my shed in- That in itself is a miricle.

I couldn't resist mesuring myself this morning even though I thought it was way too early and I'd probably upset myself that all the hard work had been for nothing but I've lost 2 1/2 inches off my waist and 2 inches from my hips! Smile SINCE SATURDAY. Grin

notyummy · 12/01/2011 13:20

OMG Whiter that is amazing!!!

randomama · 12/01/2011 13:45

The DVD has arrived! Oh lorks! I've been talking a great shred for weeks now but now it's here I'm terrified! BUT I promise I will start today as soon as the dishwasher fixer dude has left. Will report back later...
Whiter thanks for posting that amazing inch loss, I will be thinking of that as I pop my shredding cherry this afternoon!!!

BalloonSlayer · 12/01/2011 13:51

Well done Whiter Envy

Whitershadeofpale · 12/01/2011 14:59

Thank you, I still can't believe it. I've still got a long way to go though so hopefully it continues.

mermaidspurse · 12/01/2011 16:22

Tomorrow I have to move to level 2 and I just wish I was in blissful ignorance.
whitershadeofpale that is fantastic inch loss you must have worked really hard.

I just feel fatterConfused feel a bit fed up with my wheezy lack of stamina too.

OP posts:
bluebump · 12/01/2011 16:53

Whiter that is excellent! I must remember to measure myself.

falsemessageoflethargy · 12/01/2011 17:17

Wow - everyones getting amazing results - i dont look any different but am much stronger - I can tell by the fact that I make it up tube escalators without thinking I'm going to die. Hurrah!

MyBrilliantCareer · 12/01/2011 17:29

Thanks Libra - that's what I think I'm going to do. I plan on shredding 2 - 3 times per week and doing running and cross training on the other days.

I am seeing a PT on saturday so will ask him to devise me a program for upper body and tummy, and to beast me in training.

Mermaidspurse - I feel fatter some days too. I feel vaguely more svelte but I suspect it is my imagination. However, I do feel much stronger and my shoulders are much less tight. Hey ho, not quite like Whiter's results Envy.
