Well done tom!

I ordered the yoga dvd. It will arrive in Oz some time in Feb apparently Hmm

LadyOfTheFlowers · 11/01/2011 09:59

Well done TomHardy :)

I will be doing it in a minute with the weights for the first time.

I have an observation to share....

Before Xmas, my coat had become very tight Blush so I forced the zipper up over my bulk, only for it to break, yes break in half under the strain. Shock

As a punishment for getting so lardy, I did not purchase another, just struggled through the cold snap with only the poppers of which I could only fasten 2 - the ones over the bust.

On school run home just now, very windy, I started to pop the coat up, thought it felt very loose over bust, didn't need to find so much slack from under arms to get it done up, and I kept on popping it up..... all the way down, even across the saddlebags!! :o

This means I must have lost 2 inches from my widest point as the coat wouldn't fasten by 2 inches Blush at the bottom!! :)

I am now, rearing to go!!

Can anyone recommend a pilates DVD? :o

notyummy · 11/01/2011 10:18

Lady - I use Kristin MacGee's Pilates DVD (I think it is called MTV power Pilates or something.) It is pretty hard, and I think pilates purists would say it is too fast - but I get bored otherwise. Lynne Robinson is supposed to be one of the original practitioners of 'pure pilates' and I think she has DVds available on Amazon.

tomhardyismydh · 11/01/2011 10:26

slanty my dvd should be here already but has not arrived yet, hoping today then i can begin this evening.

Finished day 3 last night and jumped straight into a bath with Radox. Definately don't ache as much today, not sure if I've worked through it or if the bath helped.

Quite looking forward to tonight now, it's definately getting easier but I'm not sure if I'll be reeady for level 2 in a week.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 11/01/2011 13:05

fishe well the general consensus is that rest is essential as it's whilst the body is at rest it repairs itself but because of the short duration of this exercise regime it maybe does not need to be the 48hrs recommended, but then again the shred is quite intense and people are obviously using weights that challenge them which is good.

Can you tell I am not quite sure what my opinion on rest days whilst doing the shred is?

If you were combining the shred with other forms of exercise than I would say at least one rest day if not 2 was essential - your body needs a break. I have decided to shred 6 days and run 3 days (so some days I shred and run but the shred is only 20 mins and it's only a 30min run so it's not OTT) I have one complete rest day. You need to listen to your body, if you feel lethargic or heavy or even just bored you need to stop and have a rest day, that applies to people just doing the shred as well. You will not lose anything missing a day.

Ladyoftheflowers that's a fantastic way to find out you have lost inches!

falsemessageoflethargy · 11/01/2011 13:34

I have found myself a lot stronger with a couple of days on and then a couple of days off - I dont lose the momentum or fitness at all - in fact it seems to grow.

Though I suppose you would have to balance that with the worry that if you gave up a day you would stop entirely.

IShallWearMidnight · 11/01/2011 13:48

have emailed Amazon in a strop as my DVD still hasn't arrived. I can find part 1 of Level 1 on Youtube, so I'm going to do that as a start. Need to wait for DD1 to go back to school first though (she has no lessons till later this afternoon) as she may laugh at me. Lots.

Mmmango · 11/01/2011 14:24

Gah! It's all going wrong... not only did I not shred on Sunday, I also ate 2 bars of chocolate. Both things connected to arguing with dp all day about stupid stuff. Then thought I was back on track yesterday, but today work has been knackering and I finally got home just as dp was leaving for training. Can shred with 1 child, but not 2. Plus all I wanted to do was eat a massive bowl of pasta and more chocolate.

Need some motivation for the rest of the week, work is going to suck up all my energy, I can tell.

LotF - nice work!

Sorry to all of you still waiting for dvds. I certainly wouldn't recommend going on pirate bay.

vnmum · 11/01/2011 14:37

day 8 level 1 just done. I had sunday and monday off but ran on monday and i still seemed stronger when i did shred today. I followed it with 20 min zumba at as high an intensity as i could manage. i guess my abs will be sore tomorrow, lol

I am also combining shred with running and zumba etc and i am also having at least 1 day off as i do feel lethargic and heavy come the weekend. it will just take me an extra few days to complete the full 30 workouts.

BalloonSlayer · 11/01/2011 14:55

Well thanks to Libra's nagging, I dug out DH's old dumb-bells from the loft. I took all but two of the weights off them, and according to the scales that meant they were 1.5 kilos each. So that's more than three times my 450g tins!

Did Day 7 of Level 1 today and am much sweatier but aside from the side lunges managed the weights quite well.

So I am hopeful to see more of a difference. Plus am having a lower-carb day today.

Will publish my End of Week 1 results tomorrow morning. Confused

herbaceous · 11/01/2011 14:56

Gnn. Just done day 2 at level one (mainly Anita-style) and it was much harder than yesterday! Feel all heavy. Maybe it will get better...

IShallWearMidnight · 11/01/2011 15:14

did the first 7 minutes of level 1 (till Youtube ran out) - it's going to be hellish when the DVD finally arrives. I have far too many wobbly bits, and really struggled with holding two bottles of water up in the air.
Yes, I am pathetic Grin.

moonstorm · 11/01/2011 16:48

2 days worth of level 2! I am really starting to have more energy now! (Although I'm not convinced I've noticed any inches coming off).

That plank/ leg lift and twist thing right at the END of level 2 is a killer - you think you've finished, then you have to do that!!!

Angry
southeastastra · 11/01/2011 16:49

omg when does this get easier! only just done level one for second day am red as a beetroot and shaking like a leaf!

wonder if it matters what time of day you do it?

southeastastra · 11/01/2011 16:50

Grin at xpost red face

becklet · 11/01/2011 18:37

Well having my first day off from shredding today, but NOT happy about it! Sad

Went for ski lesson last night (on dry ski slope) and while the shredding has been absolutely fab for strengthening my legs (they don't hurt at all today!), the stupid poxy button lift nearly wrenched my arms out of their sockets when it stopped and started unexpectedly! Couldn't even reach behind me to do my bra up this morning...

Hopefully I'll feel better in the morning. Ooh, I'm also going to football training tomorrow night for the new local ladies team! Should be fun... Smile

becklet · 11/01/2011 18:39

SEA, I think it depends on when you feel most alert? Although having said that, I do it at 6.30am when I'm practically comatose still so that I can get it out of the way!

It does get easier though, promise! Keep at it! Grin

herbaceous · 11/01/2011 18:45

OMG. I've made the grave error of looking at level 3. Surely it's not possible.

Anyone else developing a bit of a schoolgirl crush on our Jillian?

notyummy · 11/01/2011 19:05

*HerB - I honestly don't think level 3 is that much harder than level 2. Where it differs (IMHO) is in the cardio where I think it is probably a bit harder. The jumping lunges are killers though!

southeastastra · 11/01/2011 19:10

i'm not looking at level 2 let alone 3! my stomach is absolutely killing me today

southeastastra · 11/01/2011 19:11

my ds(9) kept telling me to do level 3 - think he thinks it's like sonic the hedgehog

bluebump · 11/01/2011 19:54

I did my first level 1 today, I was rather warm when I finished but I actually enjoyed it and want another go so it couldn't have been too bad!

MadameCastafiore · 11/01/2011 19:59

Just a quick one - hope you are all keeping your end up and not phoning it in!!

Went and did level 1 today as haven't shred since Friday - went swimming after too and I knackered - got to go though as am cooking bloody Nigella's mexican lasagna for DH and it sizzling away on stove!

kkey21 · 11/01/2011 21:03

Day 6 complete (5 shreds LEVEL 1-and a zumba class)

Enjoying it so far-but guess level 1 is like the warm up compared to 2 and 3.

Day 7 tommorow-first time i have got this far!
