I didn't shred yesterday :( and I felt guilty all day and I also thought about Jillian all day! :o Tis very strange. I think this time I am actually mentally ready to make the change and get fit for the final time.
I booted DH out on Saturday morning so I could do it, but there was nowhere to boot him to yesterday so I got on my stepper instead - look like a moron still but not a complete blithering sweaty mess like when I shred so can actually fire retorts back to his teasing! :o

Will be doing todays when DS2 has finished watching Ben 10. Hmm :)

becklet · 10/01/2011 09:29

CANNOT believe this!

Did 7 days of Level 1 and then decided to try Level 2 this morning, which nearly finished me off!

But... afterwards I thought I would measure myself as hadn't done it since Day 1 - I have lost 3.5 inches off my waist and nearly an inch off my hips in a week! Shock

That has really spurred me on, might even try to do ALL the squat thrusts tomorrow morning! Grin

notyummy · 10/01/2011 09:40

Hello all!

Have been on previous Shred threads as a kind of part time shredder. I am fairly fit, but find it a great work out, and find it one of the (fairly few IMHO) exercise DVDs that properly pushes you. For those who have completed the Shred, I have found that trying two back-to-back is a great way of really ramping it up, or just uping the weights can make the workout a whole new challenge.

Also, a lady on another thread kindly sent me Jillian' 'Burn Fat, Boost Metabolism' workout. Pretty hard, but worth trying as an alternative to the Shred if you are getting bored.

Good luck all!

susall · 10/01/2011 10:20

I thought I was back to full fitness after my cold that floored me the whole of last week but I could not pull myself through the workout this morning. I had scrambled eggs and ryvitas for breakfast and had 2 cups of coffee which normally sorts me out, I can normally do 40-50 mins of ea active step but I only managed 10 mins of step and got to the 2nd cardio section and I had to stop as I felt dizzy. I will give it a go later on when OH is home and do my step tonight until I feel I can manage to do it in the mornings.
My aim was to do two workouts and 40 mins of step this morning but I think I may be aiming a tad too high and will have to slow it down or its going to take over all my free time and Im going to end up just giving up. I think I will settle for 1 workout and 20 mins of step for now until I feel I can do more.

Hello. Do you mind if I pop in to ask a question about the shred?

Have been reading about it with much interest and would love to try it (you are all very inspiring!). But am not sure it would be suitable for me.

I have a problem with my shoulder joint which reduces my arm movements. I quite often get a trapped nerve in it until I feel something pop back into place - very painful. Don't know what is wrong with it despite seeing several physios over the last 3 years.

Anyway, I suspect that exercise could actually help but do you think that the shred would be pushing it too far? Or could I so it at a pace I am able to and build it up or is that not how it works?

tomhardyismydh · 10/01/2011 11:37

cant do it today either Sad.

feel utterly unwell, have loads of housework and study today, will do tomorrow!! will do tomorrow!! will do tomorrow!!

good luck you ladies who are comitted today.

still no DVD Angry. You'd have thought Royal Mail would have been on top of stuff by now, surely?

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 10/01/2011 12:24

Gibberish - do you always have reduced arm movements or just sometimes? The exercises are quite shoulder heavy and personally I would advise checking with a doc if you have problems before starting something like this.

Tomhardy - hope you feel better soon.

Ishallwearmidnight - I think RM are still clearing a backlog from the snow as things that I have ordered which should take 1-2 days are taking 4-5.

becklet - that's a fantastic result!

I did Day 7 Level 1 this morning and upped the weights for the chest flyes/rows/bicep curls. Felt good and getting easier (apart from push-ups!). Off for run tonight. Ugh.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 10/01/2011 12:47

Becklet - That is AMAZING! Well done! Wish I had taken my measurements!
Can you feel it in your clothes? I find jeans don't sit on my waist, but across my hips (lovely 'curvy' pear shape Hmm - always the last place to go down) so if my waist has gone down I wouldn't know. Confused

TomHardy - Hope you feel better soon. :)

IShall - How bloody annoying! I am still waiting for a new battery and charger to be delivered for DS2s DS and the constant 'Is it here yet?' is driving me insane!

Just done todays - definately found it easier in the sweat stakes - I could blurt sentences at the kids who decide to start trashing the place as soon as I put the DVD on because they know I am not going to stop and sort them out! Hmm :o

How can I improve the strength of my core please?

I have carried almost 40lbs worth of baby over the last 5 yrs and think my muscles must be totally shot. :(

I can do all the crunches now :o Shock but I can't see me EVER being able to do a full press up etc.
My legs are very strong I think - I can do everything that involves legs at the hardest level and can also do the cardio bits at full pelt, but this core strength is holding me back.

Doc said I need to improve my core strength as I injured my back before Xmas (also said it was okay to start exercise regimen once pain was totally gone) and this will weaken my back muscles making re-injury more likely.

Any advice please?

gibbberish · 10/01/2011 13:04

Hi libra. I have constant discomfort in my shoulder and as I am wary of causing myself more pain avoid raising that arm above shoulder height which has made the joint very stiff.

If the exercises are shoulder heavy then perhaps it isn't the right exercise for me Sad but will speak to my doctor as you suggest.

Thanks for your reply Smile

Whitershadeofpale · 10/01/2011 13:12

Level 1- day 2 here, will be doing day 3 when I get in from work.

I've just ordered Jillian Michaels: Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism to do when the 30 days is up, hopefully I'll last that long Smile.

I've been doing the shred and then doing the stretching and yoga sections from Davina's DVDs (Davina Fit day 1, body buff day 2). I still really ache though, particularly in my legs. I did find day 2 easier ( I was really unfit before and about 4 stone overweight) but can't do plank position push-ups and struggle to complete the bicycle crunches, but apart from that, I'm Ok.

Please tell me that some of you envision hitting Jillian during the punches?!

notyummy · 10/01/2011 13:30

Lady - Level 2 is good for the core, but pretty tough. Perhaps some pilates as well as the Shred, as that really concentrates on your core strength?

jetcat · 10/01/2011 13:30

Wow becklet - that really is good, well done youSmile I am on day 9 now, but only measured a couple of days ago. But, i can definitely feel a bit of a waist appearing, i thought i was just imagining itGrin You will spur me on!

Tom - hope you feel better soonSad

All i can say about first day of level 2 is

ShockShockShock

southeastastra · 10/01/2011 13:52

i just started this and was promptly sick Grin my legs are like jelly too

FoundWanting · 10/01/2011 14:26

Right. I'm going to order this now.

I'll be back when it arrives.

I'm already a bit scared.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 10/01/2011 14:29

Shock South - I got the jelly legs too, quite scary isn't it?!

NotYummy - I might have a look at Level 2, but if my core is pants I won't be able to do any of it will I?

I am going to pick up some 1kg weights on the school run - have seen some in the charity shop for £4 - should make tomorrows' interesting.... right when I felt I was making headway with it! :)

southeastastra · 10/01/2011 14:34

i think being sick was because i have a bit of a hangover, best lay off the wine while i do this! Blush

my legs are really shaky hope i make it to school without falling over Grin

herbaceous · 10/01/2011 14:47

Hello all!

Inspired by this thread I ordered the shred, and have just done day one of level one, at 'Anita' level. And with tins of tomatoes as weights, which I think are too light! At the time - 20 mins ago ? I didn't think it was too bad, but now my limbs don't seem to do what I tell them, and climbing the stairs was a bit tricky!

I used to do lots of aerobics until about 10 years ago, had a baby 18 months ago, and the only exercise I get is strolling about with the buggy. When Christmas excess pushed me over the 12 stone barrier (I always think of myself as being 10.5 stone!) I thought something has to be done... So, I'll keep checking back here to help me keep going!

becklet · 10/01/2011 16:49

Can feel it in my clothes yes, but mainly my muffin top looks distinctly smaller! (still there though!)

Level 2 a definite step up, my legs are starting to ache this afternoon, and am dreading doing it tomorrow morning, but those measurements have boosted me up!

I recommended the DVD to the lady on the checkout at the supermarket today - feel a bit like a cult member! Grin

Joby1970 · 10/01/2011 17:11

becklet - it is deffo a cult - I have spread the word amongst my friends & now it's taking on a life of its own from there

LadyOfTheFlowers · 10/01/2011 17:15

I got the weights - £2.99 actually, not £3.99.

1.1 kilos.

Methinks the afternoon school run pushing the pushchair tomorrow is going to be interesting! :o

MyBrilliantCareer · 10/01/2011 18:07

Hi shredheaders, sorry no shred from me today - had hard workouts for the last 3 days and I'm aching to my bones and shattered.

Back on it tomorrow Smile

Great to see so many new people

MyBrilliantCareer · 10/01/2011 18:08

southeastastra · 10/01/2011 18:08
