Hi just found this thread can I join?! Just finished day 3 (alho had 2 days off in the middle exhausted Blush have 1 1/2 stone to lose that I never got rid of post baby (nearly 2!) going away in summer and any to wear a bikini again but still have a major muffin top!!

kkey21 · 08/01/2011 21:39

Welcome sighnomore!

i am also Day 3 Level 1.... be good to check in/up on each other.

Found i didn't ache as much today and also the work out was easier-no sweat required. Probably going for a run tommorow instead with my extremely tiny/toned neighbour!

I aim to weigh and measure on Sat 5th Feb and look at months progress. I am not on a diet, just being aware of what i am eating and if i fail to see any changes by this method i will combine with a set diet for the following month!

sighnomore · 09/01/2011 00:22

I'm not really dieting either just keeping An eye but as you say if no changes after a month will have to look at that. Was definitely easier today however I just cannot do te push ups even on the knees I just cannot get it! Any tips?

clpsmum · 09/01/2011 08:22

Hi I'm also day 3 level 1 and thank Gid somebody else can't do push ups it's nit just me. No matter how I try I just can't do them so any tips appreciated xx

kittyfisherfoundit · 09/01/2011 10:28

Hi... Have lurked since jan 1st and finally decide I should join you all. Am on day 9 level 1 but still can't do the push ups properly!!' aghhhhh they are a killer

Is it after day 10 you move to level 2?

falsemessageoflethargy · 09/01/2011 10:37

imo you have to be able to do the push ups to move upto level 2 as so much of it (even the cardio) is in plank position - ie a push-up position. Its a killer.

Maybe do them against the wall or if on your knees only hold the position on yoir knees or only do a really tiny movement?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 09/01/2011 10:42

Jillians' weights are 3kgs? Shock

I'm gonna stick with me 500gs for the time being I think - carrying babies around for the last 5 years has clearly done nothing for my arms, even though I can carry a baby round town for around 2-3 hours. Hmm

With regards the push-ups, I assume an all fours position, keep my back straight (abs pulled in of course! - what abs?!) have my hands level with my ears and do it like that and I can certainly feel it.
I bring my nose down to about an inch of the carpet.
I cant do it like they do with only the knees on the ground and the feet up off the ground crossed over.
I figure doing it my way is better than spending the whole minute trying to pull one off.

kittyfisherfoundit · 09/01/2011 10:53

Mmmmm I can do the push ups with my knees bent it's just the full on "drop n gimme 50" style I can't do. More practice for me I guess......

Veeeeery nice

morethanyoubargainfor · 09/01/2011 12:30

I couldn't do it yesterday because we had a power cut fro 8am to 11pm Shock and i have to confess i missed Jillian, kept thinkig about her all day.

I will be doing it today though once the dogs have been walked and are suitably knackered otherwise they 'nibble' my bottom during the star jumps! Grin.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 09/01/2011 12:41

PMSL MoreThan ! :o

BalloonSlayer · 09/01/2011 13:24

That's interesting about the push-ups.

I am a bit better at them but still nowhere doing them properly. Looks like I am going to be on Level 1 for ages then. Confused

I am being a bit more careful than usual about food but haven't lost any weight at all Sad. Which is odd as I can normally knock off a pound or two fairly easily. My waist was a bit smaller this morning though - it felt like Scarlett O'Hara's which was why I measured! - but only 1/2 " smaller so nothing to get too excited about.

My legs are nothing like as sore as they were.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 09/01/2011 17:14

I don't think I could ever do a regular full length army style push up - in fact I don't think even DH could do one - he is lithe and lean.

I'm going to drag him off the Xbox right now actually and see if he can. Hmm

MyBrilliantCareer · 09/01/2011 17:26

I think the bottle of Leffe beer put the 3kg back on last night.

Hey ho. I do at least feel a bit trimmer and I have a tiny bit of definition, I like to think, in my shoulders. However, I feel like I should be bloody amazing by now. Then I remember it's only been a week.

Anyway, no shredding for me today as I did Bikram yoga instead, and I feel like I can't even think about moving.

Maybe later. Or maybe not

re pushups: the only way to get better at doing pushups is by doing pushups. Saying that though, maybe do them against the sofa or something so that you are not facing the ground directly and therefore there's less weight on your arms?

With the knees on the ground one, just make sure your bum is flat and not sticking up in the air. You'll know when you're doing it right.

So Lady - can your DH do a pushup?!!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 09/01/2011 18:17

When you do a full push-up you are pushing about 75% of your bodyweight, no wonder some of us find it difficult to start with. In regards getting to your nose to the floor your arms should never be bent more than 90degrees.

I had a day off today but back on it tomorrow and will be doing the ab exercises for the first time as I have finally got round to testing myself for diastasis recti and I'm fine thank goodness.

You are all scaring me rigid over level 2.

Hope you all had nice Sundays.

falsemessageoflethargy · 09/01/2011 19:09

Libra - my diastasis is 3 fingers so really I shouldnt be doing the abs but its been too long to get any better now - it was 4+ after dds birth Shock so have given up not doing them iyswim. They are a lot stronger already and the gap hasnt got any bigger.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 09/01/2011 19:43

Falsemessageoflethargy - doing the exercises in level 1 could actually make the problem worse. There are ab exercises that can help which you could subsititute during the ab section. The plank is actually one of the exercises you can do safely.

falsemessageoflethargy · 09/01/2011 19:47

I know - thats why I have held off for 2 years - I used to do a lot of pilates but havent for that reason also. But have been doing the shred on and off for 6 weeks now (and doing the abs so that my muscles dont 'dome' etc) and theres been no difference - dh and I have carefully checked.

The plank is so tiring but yes I think I'll be just doing level 2 soon anyway - atm am doing them alternately.

tomhardyismydh · 09/01/2011 19:58

have not done any today and eaten lots of bad food and feel a bit hmmf for it. look forward to getting back into it yetserday.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 09/01/2011 20:07

ok I've just watched Level 2 and I think I need a glass of wine.

false - sorry it's very difficult not to have PT hat on sometimes (however unfit I am)

tomhardy - bet you are raring to go tomorrow!

tomhardyismydh · 09/01/2011 20:13

i hope so, looks like dd will be at school so can get back into routine. Grin

OP posts:
LadyOfTheFlowers · 09/01/2011 20:14

I can't do pushups of any description then! lol

DH just done 11 full plank army style ones straight off - he has never tried before in his life. Hmm

I also tried... Blush... can assume the position, could probably stay there quite a long time.... can go down, but then collapse - can't push my great bulk back up. :(

tomhardyismydh · 09/01/2011 20:15

yesterday???? wtf? tomorrow!! think I was going to type something about yesterday and lost my train of thought.

OP posts:
jetcat · 09/01/2011 20:46

Lady, I dont think i will ever be able to do a proper one either, so will stick with doing them from my knees. I can definitely feel them working though

No shredding here today, as i think i am coming down with a throat indection, and generally just feel bleugh. But, youngest is back at nursery tomorrow so will carry on with my walking and attempt to shred again tomorrowSmile

kkey21 · 09/01/2011 21:34

Just checking in and wanted to add Day 4 done of level 1.....Actually managed 8 press up's before completing on my knees.

Only 26 days to go. ARGH!

Chilling with a coffee right now

SlantyBaws · 10/01/2011 02:55

Hello all,

Level 1 Day 6 completed yesterday - day 7 when I get home tonight.

I too have been doing the press ups on my knees (and really feeling it) but am going to try the plank position tonight - you all have inspired me!

Libra it's good having someone with a PT hat on here to keep us all in check!

I'm still REALLY FEELING it when I do level 1, but the pain the next day has subsided thank fek. I don't know how much longer I could have kept the cowboy walk up for :o
