"Advice please. I have done 4 days of the shred and today would be day 5 on level 1. Only thing is I don't ache. At all."

Did you exercise before using this DVD?

Either up the weights or the intensity. Not aching does not necessarily mean you are not working hard however.

Hello, Day 5 of level 1 done today. Lapsed PT here who needs to get fit again in time for starting work post 2nd baby, plus lose the 2 stone of biscuit baby weight. Have lurked on this thread until now. Starting running again next week. Love the support on this thread. Am shredding Mon-Sat and then having Sunday off, personally I think it's important to have at least one day off a week to rest and let your muscles recover.

BalloonSlayer · 08/01/2011 13:49

DH want to watch me doing it later.

Hmm

I've told him it ain't sexy.

IShallWearMidnight · 08/01/2011 13:52

does anyone know if Level 1 is available on Youtube or somewhere? I've managed to find bits of it, but not the whole 20 minutes, and I don't want to lose my motivation.

Afternoon allSmile

Huge well done to LadyOfTheFlowers, I can manage to get to the final two before i collapseBlush

Last day of level 1 today, have weighed myself and have lost 7lbs since last SundayShock Guess this with the walking must be working - that is good motivation to tackle level 2 tomorrow!

vnmum · 08/01/2011 15:52

just catching my breath after doing level1 day 7 and am just going for a run. I am finding it easier now and used my weights for the shoulder raises in circuit 3 instead of tins of beans.

one question, in circuit 2 with the single leg lunges, my back leg actually aches more than my front one. does anyone else find this or am i doing them wrong?

MyBrilliantCareer · 08/01/2011 15:59

So impressed and inspired with the effort by everyone! And jetcat- 7 pounds in a week is incredible.

Midnight where do you live? There's probably a shredder right next to you who could lend you their dvd...Wink Or else cancel the dvd and download it from itunes.

Level 2 done today - was no easier but I think I worked harder if that makes sense. It's a pure shoulder and cardio workout as far as I'm concerned, which is great, because I want sexy shoulders, but it's a wierd non hurty experience. I think maybe I'm not doing the plank properly (and I agree, there is far too much plank). Although I was crying at a few points through it.

Followed it with a 3 mile jog. I have lost 3 pounds since my last weigh in on Thursday though woopwoop Grin

MyBrilliantCareer · 08/01/2011 16:03

vnmum are you putting your weight on the front thigh? Is it hurting because the muscle is being stretched? I think the back leg should be a balance but not take any pressure, if that makes sense.

IShallWearMidnight · 08/01/2011 16:12

MBC, I would cancel the order, but it's been dispatched, and for some reason Royal Mail think we only want deliveries every couple of days. Either that or the postie is a secret shredder Wink. Should have gone with itunes in the first place except amazon was £6 cheaper.

MyBrilliantCareer · 08/01/2011 16:20

hmmm maybe you should check out the postie's thighs and shoulders...Wink

vnmum · 08/01/2011 16:32

MBC i think i may be putting too much weight on my back leg now you mention it. but to get low enough down and not have my front knee going over my toe i have to have my back leg really far back and then i feel like i'm wobbling all over. I will have to practice my technique before tomorrow.

I have just done a 20min run and i now have legs of jelly but i feel like i have had a good workout today.

Another thing i forgot to mention in my previous post is that i have started to do full pushups at the beginning of each set until my arms can't do any more then i drop to knee ones. i can't get as close to the ground doing full ones as knee ones but i though it was a good way of breaking into full ones and today i could do more full than yesterday

MyBrilliantCareer · 08/01/2011 16:38

vnmum yes the wobbling all over is what you are trying to reduce, so keep at it!! (had a knee reconstruction years ago and my muscles were completely wasted away, I know what you mean).

Well done on the 20 min run.

I had to have a cold bath when I got in as my thighs were seriously complaining Blush

MyBrilliantCareer · 08/01/2011 16:45

God I sound so pathetic and patronising! Please excuse me vnmum. I need a gin and tonic Smile

LadyOfTheFlowers · 08/01/2011 17:04

Thanks guys. :)

I am not hurting anymore and did find it easier to do todays but don't think I will be anywhere near ready to move up in 6 days time. Confused

BalloonSlayer - I sent DH out this morn with the oldest 3 kids so I could do todays - the plan was I was going to get up early and sneak off and do it before they all got up but that didn't work as the major surge increase in activity has me so tired.

He said 'What's the problem?'

I replied 'It's just something you don't need to see'. Blush
I have given birth in front of this man 4 times, had him hold me upright on the lav when I was 8 months preg and I had winter d&v bug Shock and all sorts of other personal things, but I just couldn't shred in his presence!! :o

vnmum · 08/01/2011 17:27

MBC you didn't come across as patronising Smile

jetcat · 08/01/2011 17:54

TBC -I agree with vnmum, not at all patronisingSmile

LOFT - my DD (4) tries to shred with me, she manages half the initial star jumps, then collapses on the sofa with very dramatic breathing, saying shes worked too hardGrin I cant imagine shredding in front of anyone elseShock

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 08/01/2011 18:14

Mylifeischaotic - in that case I would increase the weight you are using and the depth of the lunges and the squats.

vnmum - is it your calves that are hurting as they are used in this exercise. But Mybrilliantcareer is right the back leg is mainly for balance. However the lunge is an up and down movement and you shouldn't be moving forward enough to worry about the knee going over the toes.

I think my main complaint about this exercise DVD is that she doesn't really talk/demonstrate how to do the exercises sufficiently enough and for squats and lunges technique is crucial.

jetcat- 7lbs that's fantastic!

BalloonSlayer · 08/01/2011 18:15

Day4 Level 1 Done.

Getting a bit easier.

DH came in and did that Standing Behind Me thing they tend to do when you are unloading the dishwasher or doing something else bendy-downy. So he got told off. Grin He also was warned not to letch at the ladies on the DVD, which, knowing what is good for him, he didn't.

DontCallMeBaby · 08/01/2011 18:39

I'm on my second day 'off' - quotes cos I wentfor my first run since before Christmas last night, and this morning I went to Zumba, so not just sitting on my arse eating biscuits.

DH is usually chivvying DD into getting ready for bed when I'm exercising, but I had to go for a different time of the day in the week, and they were both wandering around and observing. DH had a vibe of wanting to make some helpful comment (he did a year of joint PE/maths at uni before switching to just maths, and used to be a rather good powerlifter, so does know about muscles and whatnot). Fortunately I now have proper weights, and I doubt he'd be stupid enough to make helpful comments when I have a 1kg weight in each hand. :o

vnmum · 08/01/2011 18:50

libra it is the front of my thigh of my back leg that is hurting. i asked DH to lookat my technique and i think i am not bending the back knee to the floor and then pushing up with the back leg rather than doing it all with the front leg. i will practice more

MyBrilliantCareer · 08/01/2011 18:51

Oh that's good. Thanks Smile

LadyOfTheFlowers · 08/01/2011 19:30

JetCat - Bless her! :o

Have just read that hand weights are 1 kilo... Shock :(

Bloody hell.... I struggle with the up press whatsits at 90 degrees with 2 cans of Farmers Market Heinz soup. Hmm
(500g)

tomhardyismydh · 08/01/2011 19:55

Hi guys I did level 2 this morning but found it very difficult with dd around cant say I really put much effort into it. I kept stepping on her and she was getting in on my wick my way big time.

god cant wait for her to go back to school, dont think it will be monday though as may need to taker her to drs, despite feeling well now she has a rash all over her face, neck and chest and ulcers all over her tongue. Grrr. I have no idea what it is.

the drink did not help much last night either.

falsemessageoflethargy · 08/01/2011 20:28

Just done another level 1 - really enjoyable now though my legs hurt more than they do with level 2 - am now doing it all in a difficult way and enjoy that much more than doing level 2 in an easy way.

MadameCastafiore · 08/01/2011 20:36

Blimey am now thinking of a gin and tonic MBC

Think I over did it last night with the old level 2 - not been sleeping and went for laser treament this morning and then took DD shopping to spend vouchers and then had to pull over to the side of the road because I really thoguht I was going to fall asleep at the wheel! My death would be on Jillian's hands!

Anyway got home and had hours sleep and will be going to bed shortly.

Lady of the flowers I struggle with the shoulder bits on level two using the 1kg weights at the moment but in the summer when I was doing it everyday and switching between levels I bought 2kg weights and it bloody killed. Apparently they use 3kg weights on the DVD!

Haven;t shred tongiht as can;t really see straight from tiredness but will deffo do tommorow as it is working - I have lost the 4.5lb I put on over christmas and have a target of losing another 5lb to get down to 10 stone and tone up ready for that bikini!

CARM ON GILRS!!!!
