Here is the new thread for us to achieve success in Xmas Smile

Old thread is here

I'll change my name to my "Christmas" one after Saturday: I'm helping to organise the Scottish Mumsnet Christmas meet-up and it might confuse things if I change my name.

Morning all..And welcome beingsetup..
DD and DH still out for the count, DS on xbox and I am having a bit of peace!

Had a lovely couple of days, lots of nosh and drinks, and no one broke anything at ice skating yesterday! DC loved everything from us so that was great. Later today we are going to the rugby then for a curry.

Bebe - i know exactly where you are coming from re the presents and your MIL. Mine was like that, really well meaning but too much crap that they didn't want. I remember DD being given a hard back complete compilation of the Mr Men stories at about 7, when she was reading Harry Potter. DD was like this Xmas Hmm the next year it was the Flower Fairies compilation. Then there were all the clothes/ shoes that they'd never wear because they were hideous or more likely too small. It all seemed such a waste especially when MIL doesn't have bags of money. I am glad we never had to suffer huge cuddly toys! I suppose we have to think of the pleasure they have in the giving.
Not easy though!

This year MIL gave them both a cheque!

Am going to go and try to regain control of my kitchen- wish me luck Slinkies!
X

bebeinamanger · 27/12/2010 10:42

I can't really say anything to MIL, we don't have that sort of relationship, I tried to bring it up with DH so that he might say something. When I commented on how much stuff there was and how we need to find homes for it he said 'Yes, but it's all nice stuff!' Hmm He said she feels bad that she can't give DD that much & thinks that FIL & step-MIL & my mum give her loads, so she 'made an effort'! In reality FIL & my mum ask what DD wants/needs & buy one maybe 2 things! I know this sounds really ungrateful but we live in a small cottage & just don't have room!! Give it 6 months & I'll have to have a clear out & send most of it to the charity shops!

Blondes - 65lbs, really, have I lost that much?! Seems like loads when you say it like that? That's more than twice DDs bodyweight!! Shock

Mulled - I keep putting off 'doing' the kitchen Hmm It is not a pretty sight! Blush

Bit annoyed with DH this morning, tis a long story, so we shall leave it at that!

I had chest pains again in the night (3rd night in a row) and been quite sick. Feel fine again now. I lost all this weight & have had more 'problems' than ever this year! Doesn't seem fair somehow! Suppose I need to talk to GP about it but already think they have me marked as 'one of those' people! Doesn't happen all the time though & I feel a bit silly! I don't know if maybe over indulgence is a factor. Going to tone things down a bit today & see if it makes a difference! Also wondered if it is stress/anxiety related? Hmm

Hope everyone is having a nice festive break?! All seems to be going far too quickly.

Hi im new - posted in Chat and ratherbeonthemulledwine invited me over

I have put on a lot of weight since July this year - mainly because i stopped walking to school and started using the car as DH got finished from his job so car was available. (shouldnt have stopped my routine daily walk as was good for me)

Anyway iv started snacking, eating crap, drinking wine (oh wine why why why)

In Feb-July i weighed around 8st 6lb which was more than i wanted to weigh but my clothes still fitted me. Now i weigh 9st 9.4lb (weighed myself 2 mins ago)

I feel fat, frumpy, awful, my clothes dont fit no more and i am getting bigger. I am on the Contraception injection which can cause weight gain but iv been on it since March 2009. So its taken nearly 2 years for weight to start to gain on me.

I have read about low carb diets (the one Custardo did) but my downfall is things like Bread, Pasta, Rice, Root Vegs - how can i live without them!!! I love Carrots and Swede.

So ladies i need your help in helping me cut down on what i love - Chocolate, Biscuits, WINE!!! Coffee, Milk 2 sugars

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/12/2010 13:18

welcome cheeky :)

yes bebe, you have lost 2 dd in weight or 65lbs!!!

when i originally lost my 4stone (56lbs) i had lost weight of my then dc and thought wow - i put her on my back like a piggy back and thought how hard it was to walk with her (yet at the time i never relised it)

CheekyLittleStocking · 27/12/2010 13:29

My aim is to loose 2 stone! I was 7 and a half stone before DC - 4 yrs ago! I was very thin and small and dainty - i miss that! :(

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 27/12/2010 13:43

Hello again! There is no quick fix, stick on here and give yourself a realistic time frame. I've been doing calorie counting, others are doing WW and stuff. When Blondes comes back she will tell you that ( I'm not sure if she still does) she has a daily bag of monster munch factored in, and she's done really well and continues to do so!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/12/2010 14:06

lol -indeed i do mulled - everyone needs a treat and mine is crisp

friends have a glass of wine or chocolate

on ww, you can eat what you like as long as you stay with in the points and you WILL lose weight

beingsetup · 27/12/2010 17:48

I'm wanting to lose 1 and a half stone, how much has everyone else lost, and what has been most effective?

CheekyLittleStocking · 27/12/2010 18:08

I am determined to start and eat healthily and in proportion. I do like my big portions so gunna drop the plate fulls and have small portions! I'll cut down sugar in coffee, I use semi skimmed anyway so no need to change! I don't eat much bread but I do like brown so will change for everyone else in house ;)

Just made a soup, I'm going start and make more soups that way I'll have something healthy which isn't a large dinner - hope I can come here in the spring/summer and say how much iv lost.

Tonight is my last night on crap so having my last pizza and glass of wine :) then when I start to notice a difference I'll maybe have the odd glass on a friday ;)

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/12/2010 14:02

I'm enjoying being bad and will kick start myself in jan

I have 7 lb s to lose but think I need to lose inchs more than lbs to get back into my trousers - saying that will prob be 14lbs to lose after Xmas pigging out

Bebe is our goddess - she was the only one who manage to lose all her weight - over 4stone

The rest of us have done very well and all weigh less now then a year ago

bebeinamanger · 28/12/2010 14:29

I am enjoying the badness too! :o

I'm sure I wasn't the only one to hit target, weren't there others? Confused

Everyone has done brilliantly!

Been scoffing chocolate gingers...yum! It's going to take months to get rid of all the bad food in this house!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/12/2010 15:01

Had a quick peek at list as you were the only one Bebe :)

Many of us were near our target

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 28/12/2010 17:03

When we originally set our targets , I said 11 stone and at that time it seemed as achievable as me reaching the moon. I had no idea how successful we had the potential to be, I just sort of picked my target out of thin air! But it is going to be achievable!!

I am going to have to relaunch myself after this christmas break though!

Plus I am still in my pyjamas and it's 5pm. How outrageous!!

bebeinamanger · 28/12/2010 17:53

Mulled - I haven't got properly dressed today either! Blush

Just had the best dinner ever! Macaroni cheese with smoked sausage & mince pie ice cream for pud! It's the simple things! :o Non diet food is awesome!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/12/2010 18:27

i had a beef and cheese sandwich yesterday

'dribbles'

i generally avoid cheese and sooooooooooooo bad on ww

bebeinamanger · 28/12/2010 19:37

I have had a cheese overload this Christmas as have been mostly avoiding it all year!!

GettinFestive · 28/12/2010 20:33

Twice this xmas I've had a very upset stomach after eating generous portions of cheese Hmm

piste I am relaunching myself on 1st january, much more motivated on the run up to easter.

bebe We have loads of chocolate in the house, last year I got dh to hide it!

blondes I'm another one being bad this week....fridge stuffed full of leftovers

beingsetup I did lose about 21 pounds, but have put some on again since the summer. There is a website I found very effective called foodfocus (worth a look), also follow ww for a while at other times just eating in moderation and plenty of exercise.

cheekylittlestocking Welcome Xmas Smile Something else that also worked for me was to eat 4 times per day, as others know I am terrible for the evening munchies, so planning a snack later on works for me.

It was a great feeling last year when I could fit into old summer clothes not worn for years. Stick with us, we'll get there.

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/12/2010 20:47

Sorry to hear cheese has made you ill :(

Stilton with apricot

'dribbles'

I'm going to eat all bad stuff now and then start nyd

Newbies - I weigh on a Friday normally - others are Monday

Gf - I dread to rhink what will happen to scales in ny but again Easter will motivate us :)

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 28/12/2010 21:01
