Here is the new thread for us to achieve success in Xmas Smile

Old thread is here

I'll change my name to my "Christmas" one after Saturday: I'm helping to organise the Scottish Mumsnet Christmas meet-up and it might confuse things if I change my name.

GettinFestive · 24/12/2010 09:10

piste hope that's not us, but dd and I have just had a good laugh!

Blondes What a pain....do take care, you foot will recover Sad What a nuisance about the dentist. Bet he did have a hangover.

pretty well done!!!!! That is fantastic.

bebeinamanger · 24/12/2010 09:11

It's a Christmas miracle....I sts!!!! Xmas Grin

Well done festive :) but :( on the poorly tummy!

GettinFestive · 24/12/2010 09:14

bebe as a cake maker you may know what I've done wrong - I made Nigella's chocolate christmas cake, with a bunch of dried fruit, eggs, flour, 1/2 teaspoon of bicard, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. It is disappointingly flat.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/12/2010 09:32

sts- yah - no i can pig out

have a fabby christmas all :)

bebeinamanger · 24/12/2010 10:27

Festive - did you use a large tin? Sometimes you can 'over work' the flour/raising agents, did you beat it alot? I have never made that cake, but on Delias xmas cake you have to add the eggs gradually to the butter/sugar & whisk them in to incorporate lots of air! Also sieving flour from a height is best to get air in.

Well done Blondes! :)

GettinFestive · 24/12/2010 10:40

Well done on sts blondes.

Bebe - first you add fruit, prunes/dried cranberries/candied orange peel/sultanas, then butter and booze/freshly squeezed orange juice, then take it off and let it cool a bit then add cocoa powder/flour/raising agents and that's it. It tastes gorgeous. dd was stirring it quite a bit, she's helping me later with the chocolate cheesecakes, which I know come out beautifully Xmas Smile

I didn't measure the tin I used.

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 24/12/2010 10:59

Lol trimmer - no the picture of the cat is me!

Had a luxury lie in, now off to weigh. Gulp.

GettinFestive · 24/12/2010 11:37

Any damage Piste?

I've got some gin here.

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 24/12/2010 12:00

Oh lovely Trimmer, I need it Xmas Sad Takes bottle..

One pound on here. But actually considering we've been out for dinner / drinks dos every night since the last weigh in, including yesterday, it's not too bad.

DC are brimming with excitement, there's lots of secret wrapping going on and later DS will be making more mince pies and he will help me do our cake. I also just need to check stocking gifts. < fraught >

It's just us tomorrow (v nice) then very busy on Boxing day but after a big lunch we are taking everyone on a long walk and then ice skating on the outdoor rink at Hampton Court. The forecast is lovely which will be a bargain and there is still lying snow.

If I don't catch up properly later - have a great Christmas everyone! It has been a brilliant year meeting all you Slinks, you are inspirational, and I am sure going to need you all in the aftermath of Christmas!

Happy Christmas Slinks

bebeinamanger · 24/12/2010 12:42

Festive - hmmmmmmm, maybe it wasn't cool enough when you added the flour!? Xmas Hmm Not sure what else to suggest!

Mulled - that's really not so^ bad, considering!! :)

What an eventful year we have all had! Can't believe we have kept going for a whole year (nearly)!

Happy Christmas Xmas Smile

GettinFestive · 24/12/2010 13:32

Cards lovely thanks slinks. Only 1lb gain is impressive piste. Your xmas sounds fab.

I am not sure what I did to the cake Bebe, but I am covering it in chocolate ganash later and some penguins.

I am feeling a bit out of sorts and still have upset tummy a little bit, ds very upset yesterday as his brilliant story got deleted for some reason, so I promised to walk into town with him this afternoon which means I may get up very early tomorrow to make cheesecakes and parsnip roulade. Going to SIL boxing day and need to help out with catering. My mum and sister seem to be bringing a ton of food tomorrow already cooked so I haven't got much more to do than making bread sauce/cranberry sauce and preparing veggies.

Merry Christmas to all you slinks (if I don't manage to sneak on again) it's been a pleasure losing weight with you all this year Xmas Smile

bebeinamanger · 24/12/2010 19:00

Just had a huge plate of cheese & crackers! Have given myself indigestion, but was so worth it!!

Stick with us beingsetup Xmas Smile Plenty of support here.

The strangest thing I ate yesterday was marmite flavoured chocolate Xmas Hmm My niece bought me some 'very peculiar' milk chocolate - it left a very interesting after taste. It's available from bhs, for all you marmite lovers.

Will catch up properly when back from SIL. Hope you all had a lovely day Xmas Smile

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh!!!
I don't mean to sound like an ungrateful b@#h but I wish MIL would ask what to get DD rather than buying her ten tonne of useless tat stuff we will never use & don't have room for! She doesn't have a lot of money & must spend loads on buying her loads of presents & 'spoils' her rotten. But I wish she would just buy her one big thing that she needs/will use rather than all the stuff I now need to find homes for because DD isn't interested! Including the 8* soft toys that she gave her today, 2 of which are the same size as DD! Hmm

Have been indulging in the usual Boxing day left over nosh! Xmas Grin I much prefer Boxing day to Christmas day, all the fun stuff with none of the stress!

Blondes - 26lbs is such an achievement you should be really proud of yourself! :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/12/2010 22:18

bebe - you are our queen - you lost 65lbs this year - bloody amazing!!!!!

I shall be putting on several lbs on tho Blush :(

Sorry mil gave useless tat - could you not give her a list next year of what dd wants and she could pick an item off it

Maybe say to her that you had several same pressies and don't want that to happen again

I've just come back from mil - she means well but it's kind of a strain going there and awkward silences - thank gawd for Joseph on tv
