Piste is busily plumping up the cushions and making a space for Blondes to dump the naughty step.

Here we go! Let's see 2010 out in style my fellow Slinkies!

OP posts:
Murtette · 10/10/2010 19:24

I'm waddling my way to the naughty step hanging my head in shame. I've had a fab weekend but, boy, did it involve a LOT of food and drink! 2 G&Ts; 5mega glasses of wine; salmon en croute; chocolate fondant with ice cream; 5 roast pototoes; white chocolate cheesecake and that's just the highlights! Blondes please don't tell me how many points that is as I don't want to know! I think my only way to get to 12st by DD' bday is to amputate a limb or two. And DP is a lot less impressed about my weight loss to date now that he knows about bebe's success!

Bebe - sorry to hear about your g'gma.

JODIEwantsanewname · 10/10/2010 19:37

Hello and welcome Despicableme! don't beat yourself up too much, you have done so well to get to where you are atthe oment, you just need to find the 'mojo' again. It's happened to us all!

murtette Envy at your weekend, and blondes IKWYM about the diet coke thing, I wet to Manchester for a friends hen do and was still abit poorly and dosed up on paracetamol (and I hadn't eaten properly for 3 days) I decided not to risk a drink, so I had about 4 pints of Diet coke!

bebe sorry to hear about your great grandma Sad It's OK to be sad taht someone has passed, no matter how old they were. Although 105 is amazing!
On the running thing, do you have an Ipod? You can download something called Couch 2 5K, there are a few ofthem about and it 'times' your run for you, eg. The one I had downloaded beeped in your ear when it was time to walk/run. If you googled it it explains abit more aboutthe programme, although you can stay on the lower levels if you don't want t run that far/long. I just thought the beeping thing was really good for pushing the last 10/20/30seconds out of me, the seconds that I thought were impossible and would have given up if I had been 'doing it on my own'

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/10/2010 21:11

Tut tut murtette - go and plonk yourself on the bench :(

GettinTrimmer · 11/10/2010 11:49

Morning blondes Smile I've just got back from my run. You sound in the zone.

Sorry to hear about your ggran Bebe Sad ikwym my nan died aged 108. Missed the funeral as we were on holiday. My dad and aunt want to put her ashes in her husband's grave, you wouldn't believe the red tape and fuss involved....

Hecate - well done on your loss. Thanks for soup recipes, that is probably not as much salt compared to the commercially produced ones, but I thought stock already has salt in it so no need to add any?

Murtette - make room on the naughty step for me too, we made cornflakes cakes and I have snaffled several Blush and picked on stuff I shouldn't have, constantly, for the past x3 days.

Welcome DespicableMe Smile Well done on your loss so far. No need to hurry the last bit, just stick with us and we'll get there.

I am trying to be focused this week, it sounds quite a lot, but I have a goal of 1700 cals today (running to take into account).

Also thinking about going back to Saturday weigh ins. With a Friday weigh in, I seem to be relaxing too much for 3 days, with a Saturday weigh in it will only be for 2!

bebejones · 11/10/2010 13:45

Have been good, so far....

b - oj & special K
l - hm BNS & veg soup with hm small seeded roll & an apple

hm bread and soup - you are a domestic godess!! Grin

trimmer weigh on whatever day keeps you motivated, go back to monday if makes you be good at weekend :)

bebejones · 11/10/2010 15:26

I don't always have it for both, but DH & DD have cottage pie for dinner & I couldn't face cooking anything more substantial!

DD is really testing my patience today! (As she did yesterday) She has just sat on her potty for over an hour Shock, refusing to get off, did nothing in it, put pull ups back on her & she went & hid under the dining table and pooed, then came and told me!!! Angry It gets easier right? I really feel I might have 'missed the window' when we stopped potty training before :(

She's so stroppy & disagreeable at the moment that I'm sure she is being deliberately uncompliant! Hmm

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/10/2010 16:00

DespicableMe. I think we are twins. I also
Have half a stone to go but the more I lose, the less motivation I seem to have.

Bebe - some children don't like the sensation of having a poo on a potty or loo. DS was like that and yes of course it improves but god, is it boring. I threw countless pairs of pants away whilst he was learning.

GT - I am also considering moving my weigh in day but back to a Monday. I shall be re starting after my hols and will decide then.

It is a gorgeous sunny day today. Hooray!
Waves to all the flange.

OP posts:
GettinTrimmer · 11/10/2010 16:05

How do you make your cottage pie Bebe? Ds is getting less fussy, and said he'd try it. He likes my home made burgers so this could be a good one.

Sure the potty training will improve Smile Blondes is your expert here.

GettinTrimmer · 11/10/2010 16:27

Yes, I might try Mondays again. Have lost nothing (well, 1/2lb) since coming back from holiday beginning of Sept, in spite of training for the GSR.

I am making a super human effort not to have any more chocolate cornflake cakes. They are yum!

Piste - yes, we're having an Indian summer here too, it is lovely.

Bit worried about ds, he said he had 3 headaches today and is lying on his bed saying his eyes hurt. I have made an appt at the opticians at 9am tomorrow.

bebejones · 11/10/2010 16:53

Piste/Despicable - I have lost motivation too! Has been going ever since I hit 11st Hmm

Trimmer - Cottage Pie, Fry an Onion & 1tsp Garlic puree (or crushed/finely chopped proper stuff if you aren't lazy like me :o) in some oil until soft, add beef mince & brown, add seasoning & dash of worcester sauce. Chop up a large carrot really small (I sometime grate it) and add to meat, add 1pt stock (I use veg as it usually has less salt) and add a bayleaf or 2. Bring to boil & simmer until carrot is softish & it has reduced. Sometimes I also add a tablespoon or 2 of passata or, if I have some, mango chutney. You can add some cornflour if it needs thickening up a bit. Then I put in dish, top with potato & grated cheese & bake in oven til cheese is melted & golden. :) DH says it's nice, I wouldn't know, the thought of cottage/shepards pie makes me feel ill!

bebejones · 11/10/2010 16:56

Piste - The issue with DD & the potty isn't limited to poo, she is also saving her wees for the nappy too! Yesterday she spent more time on the potty than off it & still only wee'd in her nappy! Hmm She can hold it for ages (5-6hours), she usually tells me when she's been though, getting very frustrated!! Wish I had a magic wand!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/10/2010 18:50

I hated potty training DS. DD was easy, she wanted barbie pink knickers which we bought and there was no way she was going to get them wet or dirty. That was potty training for her. DS was a blardy nightmare. Hanging on or going in his pants.

Sob. It was ugly. Such a lot of ineffectual bribery etc He is FINE now!! It just took longer.
My friends DD used to hang on and wait for her night time nappy to go on then she'd wee for England. She ended up with some infection. Sad so keep an eye (as you do anyway) on her if she's hanging on.

JODIEwantsanewname · 11/10/2010 19:48

GT Hope your DS is OK. Poor thing.

Bebe that cottage pie sounds so delish, I might try it, I was going to make one this week, but yours sounds nicer Grin also I bought Sweet Potato to mash with normal potato for the topping!
As far as DD's potty training goes, can you try her out of nappies? I tried pull ups for ages with DS1, then he didn't want to wear them any more so we just went for pants (which he chose and we made a really big deal out of big boys pants) and he hated the wet feeling so learnt pretty sharpish when and where he needed to go! I too had to throw away countless pairs!! Also, don't stress, she is only young, I think the closer they are to 3 the easier it is for them to understand! (but I'm talking from a boys POV!) I'm dreading training DS2!!!

bebejones · 11/10/2010 19:59

Jodie - I wouldn't know about it being delish! Wink Cottage pie goes in my food room 101!

Am going to give pants a go (again) when we are home after music group 2moro. She chose Peppa Pig ones & I'm hoping she won't want to wee on Peppa! She knows what she is doing, and like I said she has good bladder control (holding it for ages), she is very good at communicating what she wants and is very clear with her speech (not always a good thing Wink) so I'm sure she can do it. She knows what her potty is for & some days is really good. BUT she is going through a real stubborn/difficult phase at the moment & will not cooperate if she is not in the mood. Something has to give. She hates having her nappy changed (kicks, screams, bites etc) but won't use the potty either!

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/10/2010 20:09

bebe, once you start pt throw away napppys - it gives mixed signals, so if you are putting dd on the potty then wear pants NOT nappys and def not pull ups as again these confuse big time

the fact she can hold her wee for 5+hrs then she is prob ready - yes you are likely to have wet pants and lots of them

i also believe in bribing Grin so every time they wee in potty/toilet they get a smartie/milky button etc and 2 for a poo in potty/toilet

bebejones · 11/10/2010 20:15

Oh yeah bribery is good! :o Got a stash of sweets for such occasions! Also got a chart with stickers...she loves stickers! :o

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/10/2010 20:20

right, then tomorrow start in pants and stick in them, the ONLY time you use a nappy is at sleep time

as i said you are giving mixed signals and if dd doesnt like having her nappy chnaged then she prob is ready but is confused with pottys and then nappys

you may get through 10+ pairs in the first few days but give a few days and if still not having much luck after a week then stop

i have always said you can pt a child in 2 weeks or less IF ready

bebejones · 11/10/2010 20:26

I bow to Blondes knowledge! Bit worried about going out though! Confused Also bit scared what will happen next week if we have to go to Durham for GGs funeral, especially if I end up driving!

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/10/2010 20:34

pack a bag and ALWAYS take with you and in it have 5 sets of clothes/10 pants/wipes/spare carrier bags/towels and potty

also have a spare potty in the car and sit on before you go out and as soon as you arrive somewhere

keep saying tell mummy if you need a wee and i will stop - if you do a wee in the potty you will get a sweetie etc

many times i have stopped along a road and got dc and potty out

place a towel under bum in car seat and you may find that dd will be done by funeral (and if need be then use a pull up for that day only)

most M&T/shops/music /gymbabes etc are used to pt children and if a wee happens then tbh the pants/clothes absorb it so rare to leave big puddles iyswim

good luck :)

DespicableMe · 11/10/2010 20:39

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. You've made me feel right at home!

Piste and Bebe we can remotivate eachother and cure the collective loss of mojo! I have actually been pretty good for 2 days now and lost the pound I put on from being naughty!

I am trying to potty train my nearly 3 year old atm! Had the other two all trained at two and a half but my youngest is not having any of it! Where else in the world could I get weight loss motivation and potty training advice all at once! Grin

RatherBeOnThePiste · 11/10/2010 20:45

Actually what Blondes said.
No
Pull ups. Too confusing, they are essentially nappies. Go for Knicks. nd be ready to do loads of laundry!
