Piste is busily plumping up the cushions and making a space for Blondes to dump the naughty step.

Here we go! Let's see 2010 out in style my fellow Slinkies!

piste you are 8 lbs off target, how the fuck does that make you a whale?

prettybird · 07/10/2010 14:52

Remember - ds started school on 16 August.

As far as he is concerned, this is not half term: this is the end of his first term and when he goes back, that is term 2 starting.

Scotland doesn't do "half term": which is an issue in February when they only get an extra long weekend, so we have to take him out of school to go skiing Blush

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2010 14:52

pretty - ht already Shock - we have another 2weeks but thankfully only off for a week :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/10/2010 14:53

um .... maybe a whale -ette?
a weeny whale?

Ok ok feeling frustrated with it, and going to have to go swimming in public in just over two weeks on our holiday!

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2010 14:53

scotland are weird Grin

forgot went back in aug,but least means finish early in june/beg of july so holidays are cheaper

GettinTrimmer · 07/10/2010 16:01

where are you going for your hols Piste? Are you on the piste?

Doesn't seem possible it's nearly half term!

I glanced somewhere on mumsnet a discussion that said summer hols may be reduced to 4 weeks, don't know if there's anything in it.

bebejones · 07/10/2010 16:25

Afternoon waifs

Have been so busy today, been out and about doing lots of 'fun' stuff Hmm
Picked up DDs pics that were taken for newspaper comp, really cute, don't care about her winning but they are nice pics & really reasonable. Way cheaper than getting proper studio ones!

Can't believe it's nearly half term! Eeek! Nearly time to make Christmas cake & mincemeat! (My october half term 'activity')

Not looking forward to weigh in 2moro!
Good Luck fellow waifs!

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2010 16:40

going to try and counter balance damage and work REALLY hard at the gym tonight

GettinTrimmer · 07/10/2010 16:57

The extra carbs will give you more energy Blondes - get pumping!

Bebe - Have you seen Nigella's chocolate christmas cake?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/10/2010 17:06

We are going to Thailand. Wooohooooo.

Sadly no piste or the horizon as DC and me don't get the same Feb half term. DD is going to Colorado Winter Park with school and can't wait and I did think how just me and DS could go together ( although he is muuuuuch better and bolder than me ) and then I realised our dates were different.

How annoying, big long post and the connection died Angry

Well I lost 0.5 yesterday, which I am pleased with as I weighed in the AM last week, and yesterday I weighed in the PM, so that makes a difference.

I am very Envy of all this talk of holidays, I know I;ve just been, but it feels like a life time ago Grin

I'm laid up with flu at the minute and all I've managed today is a bag of snack a Jacks...

Good luck with your weigh ins tomorrow ladies, sounds like we are all back on the wagon and excersisning and focused again, ready for christmas?

OP posts:
prettybird · 07/10/2010 17:41

Lucky you Piste :)

And unlucky you for the February half term. We have told the school (we get on well with the headteacher and the depute) we are "closer to God" when we are skiing, given that the majority of kids (and teachers) in the school are allowed to take an extra 5 days for the Islamic festivals Grin (and that included ds' current Sikh teacher Confused) (actually, we are atheists). Won't be able to keep doing it once he is in secondary school, so we will start having to go over New Year or in the first two weeks of April :(. Or alternatively, we leave ds behind Grin. It is nice to see him progessing though - this year he made the step change and can now ski down pretty much anything we can. :)

Bebe - did a Sainbury's shop today and bought the first of my Christmas presents: microwavable Lavender scented soft cuddly sheep that I will give to the twins. Gave one to my nephew, SIL's boy (now 3) years ago, and he is inseparable from it :) But if you are going to make mincemeat to give away, you might be interested that (at least my local) Sainsbury's was selling 500ml Kilner jars for 25p - 90 per cent off Shock I cleared them out (only had 4 left though :()

RatherBeOnThePiste · 07/10/2010 18:07

April ski wise can be so late can't it? We had spring snow in the afternoons on some days last February. Do you go in Scotland? They had a fab season last year. I was really envious of some Germans we met last year because when they were at home they only had to drive for one hour to a ski location. Envy

Yes. Make the most of having him pre senior school!

OP posts:
prettybird · 07/10/2010 18:42

We were there the week before the English half term last year (overlapping on the Monday: drove back up on the Tuesday) and we had fabulous snow :)

I used to be able to have the proud boast that I had never ski-ed in Scotland: I can now only say I have never ski-ed outsdie in Scotland Grin. I learnt to ski when I was spending my year in France at Uni and had too many negative comments about conditions in Scoltand compared to the Alps to be bothered making the effort.

At least by the time we are forced into April skiing (if we want to do it as a family), ds will be good enough to "go high" and strong enough to stay out for the day - and (we hope!) mature neoguh to cope with "la soupe" as we go back to the resort.

bebejones · 07/10/2010 19:41

Pretty - Envy at your Sainsbury's!! Ours is so tiny I doubt they would stock them! :(

I'd love a ski holiday, haven't been since I left school & DH doesn't ski :( I'm such a kid, I just love the snow!

Jodie - sorry you are poorly! Well done on loss!

Trimmer - Chocolate Christmas cake, can such a miracle truly exist?!?! Shock I like the sound of that (i'm not a fruit cake fan, usually, but the Delia recipe I use is yummy). DH is boring a traditionalist so not sure he'd go for it! Is it good?

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2010 20:39

well done jodie on your loss :)

prettybird · 07/10/2010 20:45

This was my first visit to my new improved local Sainsbury's - which is now the biggest in Scotland! (just to make you more jealous! Grin)

Dh learnt to ski when he was 34 and is now an advance skier :)

bebejones · 07/10/2010 20:57

If yours is the biggest in Scotland mine must be the smallest in England! :o

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/10/2010 21:55

Come on girls

we all know size doesn't matter Grin

bebejones · 08/10/2010 07:41

Well officially since my last weigh in I have gained 1lb. But I'm actually quite chuffed with this since I have actually lost some lbs since coming back from holiday last week.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/10/2010 07:48

STS. I sort of knew I would. It's been I think four weeks of sts now. Sigh.

Two weeks today until we go on holiday. Will have a concerted effort to see if I can shift anymore!

Have lost two and a half stone but still feel a bit Confused and Blush about wearing a swimming cozzie in public. Does anyone else feel like this?!

OP posts:
GettinTrimmer · 08/10/2010 11:55

Sts as well.

I'm pleased with sts (as it's so easy to gain), but I'm with piste on this as I'd like to shift some.

Do you wear a tankini/bikini/one piece, piste?

I don't feel too good today, spacey and achey. My race is coming up and not been running much this week, so an early night to shift whatever I hope I am not coming down with.

GettinTrimmer · 08/10/2010 11:57

Bebe -Nigella did her xmas chocolate christmas cake in her series with gold edible baubles and stars on top, I've never tried it. I think the recipe is in her FEAST book under chocolate cake hall of fame.
