Piste is busily plumping up the cushions and making a space for Blondes to dump the naughty step.

Here we go! Let's see 2010 out in style my fellow Slinkies!

Pretty - how can you bear to do gardening in the cold? I'm perishing, but maybe it's coz I'm a southerner! Wink

Broad bean soup sounds really yummy, can you share the recipe?

Bad news...We aren't going to ILs for Xmas dinner. Now some might say this is a good thing Hmm BUT it means I have to have Xmas food in the house & cook xmas dinner for 2(.5, although DD doesn't count as a .5 coz she won't eat any of it!)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/11/2010 21:29

Bloody Hell. I've got Trimmer's 9.30 Munchies. Badly.
Really
Really
Badly.

OP posts:
prettybird · 24/11/2010 21:37

Step away from the food.

Step away from the food.

Hmm (that's supposed to be a stern face Wink)

prettybird · 24/11/2010 21:49

I Mean it.

Step away from the food.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/11/2010 22:07

Omigod Pretty. You is well scary!

I'll have a cup of tea instead.
Still got the munchies. But not going to act upon them.
You got snowed in yet?!

OP posts:
GettinTrimmer · 24/11/2010 22:29

Piste, very strong pickled onions have just cured my munchies the vapours went up my nose

prettybird · 24/11/2010 22:32

No snow forecast for the West of Scotland. It's cold though: ds' rugby training finished early 'cos the ground was too cold.

Bebe - if you work hard, gardening gets you nice and warm! :) I also wear a thermal, a wool jumper and a sweat shirt. My hands were getting a bit cold though - especially as I prefer to garden without gloves (unless pruning roses or brambles). I'm doing the tidying work that I should have done months ago Blush The six raised veg beds have now been dug over, now I'm trying to tidy the patio area (and plant up a couple of pots with some bulbs) and will then get onto cutting back/tidying the beds.

The recipe for the soup is here. I used streaky bacon instead of pnacetta and an onion instead of shallots and pheasant stock instead of chicken stock. I should perhaps have skinned the borad beans as their skins were a bit tough and made it a bit grainy. I also had to thin it down with more hot water after I blended it. But still tasty :)

HecateQueenOfWitches · 25/11/2010 06:11

Hiya folks. How have you all been?

I lost 3 this week. phew! Grin I can see the first little goal of getting into the 10s rather than being in the 20s. It's quite exciting!

The new WW thing is supposed to be more scientific instead of going on fat and calories, it goes on how much is left available to you after the energy it has taken to digest it. That's why they say it's more accurate.

I think it's an excuse to sell all new stuff! Grin

That wheel is a great big pile of SHIT! It is next to impossible to get an accurate count on it. I took one look at it that first week and bought the calculator! Grin If I were a cynical person, I might suggest that it was deliberatly difficult to use...

You really are doing marvellously Hectate - congrats!

I agree with you re the WW, see my earlier post. I am not connected to WW, but a big organisation like that only does things for commercial gain, and I am cross because I think people are being ripped off.

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 25/11/2010 10:43

well done hecate

was at a friends last night and she had nibbles out and blonde nibbled Blush

prettybird · 25/11/2010 11:32

But you will be good today won't you Bolndes Grin!

I have magically morphed from being "obese" to simply being "overweight": simply by measuring myslef! Shock I'd always thought I was 5'4", but I measured myself today (metal tape measure, so it should stay accurate) and I am 5'5".Shock:):)

My targets remain the same though - and feeding the new height into FoodFocus reduces my daily amount of calories Confused Doesn't matter though, 'cos with the exception of the weekends, I have been consistently under them anyway. I'm getting good at allowing myself a clementine or 4 almonds if I get an attack of the munchies. And I then have to log it in FoodFocus, which helps concentrate the willpower! Blush

GettinTrimmer · 25/11/2010 12:19

Hecate well done on your 3lb Smile

blondes those nibbles are lethal!

pretty I am 5ft 4.5, that extra .5 makes all the difference.

I am sitting an exam this evening, word processing stage III, to get my skills more up to date. The job hunting has gone to pot, after christmas I will be trying my hardest to get more interviews through (fingers crossed).

I've also decided to give ww a miss because I have information on propoints, but I am going back to foodfocus.

Good luck to all weighers tomorrow. I have tried hard this week so I am hoping to have lost something.

GettinTrimmer · 25/11/2010 12:22

Clementines and almonds pretty? I do pickled onions/left over salad/grapes for the munchies, but they can sabotage the whole week if allowed to run riot can't they?

prettybird · 25/11/2010 12:38

Yesterday I had 3 clementines and 2x4 almonds. 4 almonds are only 28 calories - so provided you count them out, they're better than biscuit - and surpisingly satsifying Grin

I also have 2 brazil nuts after doing the Shred: they're higher in calories (45), but the selenium is good for you/thyroid function (apparently).

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/11/2010 14:04

Blondes, when you say "Blondes nibbles" this is what I imagine? No?????!!!!

Pretty - well done on growing !!?? ( Lol) and selenium is supposed to aid a healthy circulation, plus other things.

GT - good luck with your exam this is for you!

I am going to try pickled onions, to see if I can fend off the Munchy Monsters at 9.30 tonight.

DH has gone to Australia work wise, not cricket wise until a week on Sunday. Tis warm there. Envy

OP posts:
prettybird · 25/11/2010 14:20

Didn't know about selenium's positive effect on circulation: that's really good as I have shocking circulation (approaching Reynaud's Syndrom).

I looooove my silk inner gloves and my silk socks when we are skiing. :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/11/2010 15:05

A friend of mine is a GP, so she has general knowledge, but selenium is supposed to help rid the body of toxins, and improve delivery of oxygen and blood, so help circulation. She told me because my toes are always frozen and I get chilblains which are horrid. I think Raynaud's phenomenon is a v much nastier circulation condition isn't it?! You don't need much selenium, but she said to get a probiotic multivitamin and minerals that had it in! I don't know that I can see much improvement. Ssssh.

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/11/2010 15:07

and yes, big thumbs up for your silk ski socks! DD has one luxury silk thermal base layer. Obviously I have cheap Tresspass!

Do you ski in Scotland? If so where do you go?

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 25/11/2010 16:29

piste erm no your pic is totally wrong Grin

i have been very bad today (but have an excuse)

mummy blondes been in hospital again having her heart shocked yet again :(

last time was august and failing again - good news op went well :) heard this afternoon :)

bad news ive been comfort eating today these

gonna gain tomorrow but hey my mums alive :)

bebejones · 25/11/2010 16:34

So more like this then Blondes?! Wink

Glad mummy Blondes is ok How scary! :( Don't blame you on the Thorntons toffee, although I like the mint one best! Tis yummy, if a little bad for the teeth!!

DH & DD are having sausages for tea, I am having BNS soup! How good am I?! :o

RatherBeOnThePiste · 25/11/2010 16:37

Needs must Blondes - glad your mum is ok

OP posts:
prettybird · 25/11/2010 23:03

Piste: I used to be able to say truthfully I had never ski-ed in Scotland. Now I can only say I have never si-ied outside in Scoltand, since Xscape opened about 5 years ago (only been twice and ds is now good enough not to need a refresher before going to Meribel).

I've never had chilblains but my fingers do go white sometimes with cold (and I presume my toes if I were to look at them). I'm good now at keeping them warm (cashmere or leather gloves, silk inners when skiing, no expnse spared on ski gloves).

I'll have to have words with my best friend - she's a GP too and she knows what my fingers can be like (we were at St Andrews together) and she has never suggested selenium to me Hmm

Blondes: :( about your mum but good news that she is ok now. :) There are times when comfort eating is not just understandable but absolutely required Grin

Hecate: congratulations on your loss. You've done brilliantly to get this far. You'll soon be sub 20 stone :)

I went shopping today for a new pair of jeans: got a pair of size 14s from M&S. I've tried to forget that I had to buy a pair of size 16 jeans - and then had to buy another pair 6 months later when they wore out between the legs - so I'm really pleased that I've got back into a 14. :) A wee bit of a muffin top but that'll go soon Wink

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/11/2010 06:54
