Piste is busily plumping up the cushions and making a space for Blondes to dump the naughty step.

Here we go! Let's see 2010 out in style my fellow Slinkies!

I found a way to make your own orange slices! Might give it a go!! Eeeek! Excited now!

Preparing Your Fruit.
You will want to choose an orange that is ripe, but not over ripe. It should also be one that doesn't have any bruises or blemishes. It should be fairly firm and ready for slicing. You will want to take a very sharp knife and cut narrow slices of the orange. You should try to make them even all the way through and try to get them about one eighth of an inch to one fourth of an inch thick. Next blot the excess moisture from each slice using a piece of white (non-colored with no colored design or print) paper towel. Next you can choose a finishing method. For orange slices that are as bright as possible dip each slice in lemon juice. Give it a few seconds to soak in and then re-blot the slices. For warm golden lightly browned orange slices pat them with cinnamon. These will also smell wonderful while baking. Finally choose your drying method and dry out your orange slices.

You can dry your orange slices in the oven, no special equipment needed. To do this place your orange slices one to two inches apart on a wire rack (you can use the rack right out of the oven). If you don't want to use the wire rack, you can use a cookie sheet, but it should be noted that they should be lined with aluminum foil and it will take a little longer for the orange slices to dry. Pre-heat the oven to 275 degrees. Place your orange slices in the oven and bake for one hour, then turn the oven down to 225 degrees and finish baking. It should take a total baking time of three to four hours. You will want to check your orange slices every half hour and flip each one carefully. When they are almost dry with slightly moist centers pull them out. They will finish drying out while they cool down.

If you don't hear from me again it is because I have frozen to death. Because DH is in Australia i had to bring DD to riding at 8.30am and it is -6.
Goodbye Slinks.

Confused that emoticon is what I look like slowly freezing to death.

sts this week, can't complain because I have overdone it with the chocolate this weekBlush.

prettybird · 28/11/2010 14:52

Well at least you didn't put anything on, despite the chocolates smalline :) SO that just proves that with a wee bit of effort, you can lose some weight. :)

I'm finding that using FoodFocus is really helping me: the fact that I have to "admit" to everything that passes my lips is an amazing incentive to exercise restraint Grin

The snow finally hit the West of Scotland yesterday. There was a covering of about 2 inches yesterday - so it was still OK to go out shopping and to the Gang Show in the evening (to see my neice in it) but today there's probably closer to 8+ inches and snow showers coming over regularly, so I'm not sure whether we'll be able to go out to my dad's for dinner tonight (over on the North side of the city).

Ds will also have to break his unbroken run of cycling to school since school started this year - but we'd always told him that snowy weather was the one weather when it's just not safe to go out on the bikes as it narrows the roads. The plus side is that he can get himself off to school without one of us having to accompany him :)

bebejones · 28/11/2010 15:21

I really want snow! I don't mind being cold if there is snow!! Also if we get lots DH gets to stay home! :o The frost here hasn't gone all day & our house temperature hasn't got above 19 all day, it is so cold! I walked up to Tesco & had a T-shirt, a cotton jumper, my very thick hoody, my padded gilet, a scarf, wrist warmers/fingerless gloves, 2 pairs of socks and my Uggs on & I was still freezing!! :(

Have made a big pot of Leek & Potato soup (used skimmed milk) and will make some vegetable soup later in the week. Need to re-stock my freezer. Really looking forward to dinner, Salmon fishcakes with hm wedges, salad & sweet chilli dip! Yummy! :)

Well done on sts smalline!

prettybird · 28/11/2010 15:26

I've decided to have a day off the diet: I think I might havebeen too good in recent weeks (average net calories per day of 908 versus a target of 1300, post exercise; actual calories eaten of 1400), so am going to tell my body I am not starving Wink

So, I'm off to make some scones :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/11/2010 17:30

well done smalline :)
