Piste is busily plumping up the cushions and making a space for Blondes to dump the naughty step.

Here we go! Let's see 2010 out in style my fellow Slinkies!

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/11/2010 17:54

no hairy balls for me - pretty name pretty :)

Murtette · 09/11/2010 18:54

Bebe - hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself and make sure you drink lots (of the non-alcoholic variety!).

Pretty - love the name.

Piste - I had my first mulled wine of the season on Saturday night and it was delicious. I bought some of the spices in the supermarket today.

I just ate 5 chocolate shortbread rounds. I should have put the packet away as soon as my friends left. I'm not really looking forward to my WW weigh in tomorrow...

bebejones · 09/11/2010 20:06

What is it with you lot and balls baubles?! Hmm

I have in the past been JingleBebe, but I feel like a change. Our decorations usually go up the 2nd weekend in December, so I have a few weeks to decide yet!

Loving Pretty's Xmas name!

I could so do with a mulled wine now, think it'd be really good for me! Hmm Wink

prettybird · 09/11/2010 22:46

When I was visitng Mum today (she continues to decline but today was distressingly aware of the fact that she is not the woman she used to be :(), they made us some tea - and brought it with two cream puffs. I got Mum to eat some of hers, but managed to resist the other one :)[polishes halo]

I have a recipe for a delicious mulled wine that is probably lower calorie than "standard" mulled wine: IIRC, it is equal amounts of cider and red wine (which is why the calorie count would be lower as it is not pure wine), an apple with a couple of cloves stuck in it and a couple fo cinnamon stick. Put everytihng in a big pot on the hob and bring slowly to the boil and serve. Delicious :) I'll double check the recipe, but I think it really is that simple :)

Has anyone noticed that we seem to spend an inordinate amount of time talking about food and sharing recipes on here - or is just me BlushGrin

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/11/2010 23:17

And don't foget about sausage talk Grin

dh cooked steak and lots of free veg

I'm on a roll this week and really think I will get to 11-9 and havnt been there for a while - dither between 10/11 - but we will see - I deserve to lose this week

how is everyone else doing?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/11/2010 10:59

Good thanks Blondes! Having a little coffee now and Bebes beany soup at lunch. Have also got the ingredients to make Big Nads Squished soup later! Am filling up my freezer with soups. Will freeze some of the bean soup too as made double. I am almost getting organised now!

prettybird · 10/11/2010 11:33

Had porridge with blueberries for breakfast, plus a glass of freshly squeezed (from a bottle) OJ. Just had a few peanuts following doing the Shred to get my protein up. Will have a couple of boiled eggs for lunch. haven't decided tonight's meal (probably soup though - with some of the oatmeal youghurt bread I made yesterday). Am "snacking" on clementines

..... hopefully I will be rewarded on Friday! :)

Re the lowfat lasagen: I have a fab American recipe that instead of a white sauce, it uses cottage cheese mixed with eggs which you then layer with the ragu sauce, pasta sheets (I tend to soak them in boiling water, 'cos there isn't as much moisture as "normal" lasagne to cope with the modern "no need to pre-cook lasgane pasta)), dried herbs (oregano and basil), mozarella (you could always use a low fat ine) and freshly grated permasan (a little goes a long way). The only problem is that it is reeeeeally yummy - so having a small portion is difficult Blush.... which reminds me, I haven't made it in a while Wink

....00ps, there's me talking about food again Blush

GettingOn · 10/11/2010 11:55

I love mulled wine pretty, but if you bring it to the boil does that burn the alcohol off?

you are quite right to polish your halo, I, on the other hand, had x2 cappuccinos and a luxury mince pie this morning so I am just about to have lunch, a couple of oatcakes, low fat houmous and veggies. Then fruit later.

hope you can start exercising again soon blones

prettybird · 10/11/2010 11:59

No - you just being it to the boil and then immdediately turn it down. That's why you must do it slowly - so that you don't risk a massive rolling boil that will indeed burn the alcohol off. (a small amount burning off is OK - those are calories floating away! Wink)

prettybird · 10/11/2010 12:05

You made me go and look the recipe up Grin

I've mis-remembered it slightly; it's called Madison Mull and here's the full recipe:

2 medium sized apples which you stud with 6 cloves (3 in each) which you then bake at 180C/350F for 30 minutes.

Bring 600ml of cider to the boil and then add 1 bottle red wine, a stick of cinnaomn, 2 level tbsp sugar and the baked apples. Reheat slowly without boiling.

Far too Very quaffable! :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/11/2010 12:08

why cant they make a white mulled wine ? Grin

hate red and rose

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/11/2010 12:09

cotttage cheese and eggs for sauce ..... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm not convinced Grin

prettybird · 10/11/2010 12:15

...still probably better than a white sauce, with all that butter! For one lasagne, it's just one egg (I always forget that my recipe makes 2) And cottage cheese is ultra low-fat! :)

prettybird · 10/11/2010 12:16

You could try that recipe with white wine Blondes. It might work 'cos of the cider base :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/11/2010 12:26

I agree - give it a whirl!

I love wine the redder the better, but it could work!
Am trying to contemplate Christmas / presents etc. DD is very easy and we have done hers, but DS is so difficult it is driving me to chocolate!

I just went to the WW meeting and heard all about the new plan. They're re-pointed everything and I now get 29 pts a day when I used to be on 21pts. I've just re-calculated my breakfast and its now 4 pts when it used to be 3. The good thing with the new plan is that fruit is 0pts but the bad thing is that you get 49pts per week on top of your daily allowance which just strikes me as being an excuse to either have a major pig out at the weekend or have a couple of extra treats each day. The reason for the weekly allowance is that people complained that the existing plan was too hard to stick to if you had a celebration or something an now you've got some flexibility. I don't understand it though. On the weeks I stuck to my points (and saved some each day if I needed to knowing that I had a party or something at the weekend) then I'd lose weight and the weeks when I just had a bit extra at the weekend without having saved points then I sts or put on. I'll give it a go for a few weeks and see what happens. A change might give me the kick up the backside that I need to shift a few more lbs again.

Pretty - that mulled drink sounds yummy. I love mulled cider so may just not add the wine. That lasagne could be good. I made a moussaka the other day which had a similar white sauce and was surprisingly tasty.

Bebe - what about BebeInAManger?

bebejones · 10/11/2010 12:42

Hello waifs!

Have the MN BNS soup on the go, smells really yummy!

Pretty - please share the otmeal yoghurt bread recipe, sounds good!

I use low fat creme fraiche in veggie lasagne now & buy fresh pasta sheets. Works brilliantly!

I loved mulled wine, so will definitely have toi give that recipe a go!

Piste - glad you enjoyed the celery soup. The beany one is my current fave, really filling!

Am snacking on too much cakes and leftover birthday goodies! Blush Feeling full of cold isn't helping, I just want sugary comfort!

bebejones · 10/11/2010 12:45

Murtette - loving bebeinamanger! :o

Feeling very smug about Xmas presents. Only have DH left to buy for & DDs 'big' present (a dolls' house). Have about 5 other gifts to get but know what they are so that doesn't count! :o

bebejones · 10/11/2010 13:12

Note on the BNS & ginger soup: add more ginger than it says! I can barely taste it! (I know I have a cold but I would think that Ginger would be one of the things I should be able to tate! Hmm)
