(with thanks to Timba for title inspiration!)Grin

All welcome - this is a follow on from the September jeans thread for those who want to lose a little or a lot, but need some support to keep them going.

Am munching a Marmite rice cake as I type, and am about to force myself to go and do a Davina cardio work out, even though I would much much rather lie on my bed with a cup of tea and a book, and watch the rain outside.. Smile

Come join us!

Afternoon all. Hello again Algie and welcome to springy and wildstrawberry - it's really good to see some new faces and the return of some who went AWOL [hgrin]

I have been out and about and bought mega supplies of fruit and veggies and plan to get back on the (very) straight and narrow today. Also need to up the exercise again ... especially with the marathon looming.

Motivate me ... please [hgrin]

Serendippy · 23/10/2010 16:29

Hi, nice small thread so not too daunting. Have started the 30 day shred, well yesterday and am planning to do it tonight. Am also only eating food I would give to DD so no chocolate, crisps etc except for special treats. Have lost 4lb so far but I know that at the beginning it is mostly water. Hate exercising after DD goes to bed but her daytime nap seems to be disappearing! [devastated emoticon]

If you see me on here in the evening, please do not let me chat until you have checked I have done my 20min shred! (At least 5 days out of 7)

So, can I join in? Smile

Timbachick · 23/10/2010 17:02

Hi dippy - nice to have you here. Of course you can join in.

I will be checking on you ... so go forth and shred [hgrin]

Serendippy · 23/10/2010 20:11

Have shredded! Now off to the takeaway Blush Baby steps...

appleslice · 24/10/2010 11:38

Hi I wish to join this thread, I am wanting to lose a stone and a half and have wanted to for quite a while. Just not had the will power with having to have an operation now that I can start exercising again and am going to Thailand I just under 6 weeks I have ordered the 30 day shred also what else can I do. I have seemed to have lost my way over the past year with my confidence etc and at 37 everything has seemed to settle on my bum legs, tum and boobs.

Shaxx · 24/10/2010 17:21

Hello everyone.
I've had a bit of an indulgent weekend (seems like every weekend!) but have been fairly good today.
I really feel like doing some exercise but its raining, my gym is closed and dh is watching football so I can't do any dvds.
Any suggestions? Smile

swanriver · 24/10/2010 18:07

Well, sigh, I am back where I started at 72 kg. Thinner than I was before I conceived ds1 10 years ago and the right weight for my eight.

Suppose I may resign myself to fact that this is my "ideal" weight.

This week I have eaten entirely normally, drunk several glasses of wine, no real binging but quite a few biscuits, bowls of rice pudding.

so one more week of trying to lose and then I may just get used to this weight Grin
Do think alcohol or lack thereof is KEY to weight loss (N.B - that is my tip for any newbies)

swanriver · 24/10/2010 18:10

Shaxx put on some music in another room and dance energetically [close curtains] or anything really that makes you feel breathless! Run round block if necessary.

swanriver · 24/10/2010 18:15

wild one of things that originally helped me lose a stone was the two hour rule (no not Gina Ford..)only let something pass your lips every two hours at the least. This stops the emotional dependence on chewing, which in my case was quite marked...
Make a big bowl of cucumber and carrot sticks for emergency chewing. Then schedule snacks so you know exactly when you are going to have them and not be at mercy of cravings hitting you when you are exhausted and hungry.
And a plain slice of wholemeal bread is always going to be better for you than a bar of chocolate or a biscuit if you are starving hungry and in your own kitchen.

swanriver · 24/10/2010 19:45

Right, going to try a bit harder
supper was - kale and veg soup with cheese on top, three plums, a tangerine, two almonds (have now hidden all nuts) and a cup of tea later NOOO wine.

wildscaryface · 24/10/2010 22:49

That's true swan. I have had some success with stopping silly pointless binges by using the "times and plans" in that book - is it by Gillian Riley? Eating Less, How to Overcome Overeating or something.

Not a bad day today - no chocolate or sweets so that is pretty good. Also, I had my dinner at 6.30 and haven't eaten since then and won't eat now until breakfast.

Tough watching TV without my usual nibbles but I could get used to it.

Weighed this am and have lost 3lb this week (since Monday) so quite pleased - though I know some or all of that is water. It's heading in the right direction though!

swanriver · 25/10/2010 09:30

hi everybody, feeling upbeat and ready to keep to healthy choices!

coffee and ricekrispies for breakfast
dancing to Dire Straits, and a bit of running up and down stairs now in name of housework Smile long walk out with kids later

hmc · 25/10/2010 10:26

Good to see AreYouAfraidfTheDark make a brief return before her sojourn to Spain.
Big October thread welcome to WildScaryFace, Serendippy and Appleslice - good to see you here!

I've had a bad weekend but not due to any willpower issues on my part - just the way it panned out. Invited to dinner at friends on Saturday and she had cooked 3 types of curry which was delicious but just about the opposite of what you need for losing weight, and on Sunday we had a lunch invitation to friends. All very nice and social but not great for the lard arse.

Today am feeling 'in the zone' and raring to go. Very healthy homemade tomato sauce planned for lunch and a healthy casserole for dinner. Wildscary - I am also a size 18 with 4 stone to loose; I gained weight after having my dcs and failed to get it back under control...that's all going to change!

Shaxx · 25/10/2010 12:35

Great to hear so much positivity!
I'm feeling positive today too.
Porridge for breakfast, baked potato with cotage cheese for lunch and haven't decided dinner yet but it definitely will be healthy and low fat!
I'm going to go to the gym today too.

Albansanne · 25/10/2010 15:27

Just started on celeb slim meal replacements today and so far so good, I like the flavours and don't feel starving yet! I'm desperate to shed a couple of pounds in the next few weeks to spur me on to bigger (or hopefully slimmer) and better things!

swanriver · 25/10/2010 18:22

well sad to say, I had lunch out with family which was meant to be a light and healthy pizza followed by a light and fluffy choc mousse (some hope) in fact it was a fat laden calorie fest. So moral is never never order pudding...you always finish it...Blush nearly 5 hours later I still don't feel hungry

we had a long walk in autumnal Hyde Park, and I'mjust having a nice cup of tea - I think very very simple supper for me, possibly boiled egg and veg, slice of toast.

hmc · 25/10/2010 20:02

What sort of meals are they Albansanne?

Wouldn't worry too much swanriver, your boiled egg tea will compensate!

Had a revelation today that actually going to the gym and working out would be a whole lot more effective than watching the Biggest Loser USA on Sky1 whilst other people work out in the gym Grin.

Bit tricky this week however with the children off school.....

springlamb · 25/10/2010 20:03

Not my best weekend. Pulled a muscle in my thigh so I slobbed a bit. And the apple & strawberry pie with cutard probably didn't help much.
However, went to the gym as soon as DH came in from work and have done 20 minutes of my new exercise DVD. £4 from Tesco and concentrates on the belly which is my main problem.
Hoping to get the dc out on our bikes tomorrow in Battersea or Dulwich park and am going to eat very lightly.
Wish I could've cancelled half term this year, I was doing so well...

hmc · 25/10/2010 20:12

Yes whilst we may love our dcs Springlamb they often precipitate comfort eating I find! Bike ride with the kids sounds like a decent plan however...

swanriver · 26/10/2010 09:26

Did well yest eve - no late night snacks (just a humble satsuma)
this morning have had coffee and slice of german bread without toppings, and another satsuma

off on long walk in Kew now (although it seems to be pouring with rain?)

Shaxx · 26/10/2010 10:49

Well done swanriver on the no late snacks. Once you get into the habit you wonder how you used eat so late!

Kew sounds lovely! Smile

Its raining here so I'm hoping it clears up.

Todays food plan

porridge
baked potato
lentil and rice

desiretochange · 26/10/2010 15:37

Found ye:) Can I join? Have about 3 stone to lose and could do with some support:(

swanriver · 26/10/2010 17:02

Desire hello!

Kew was so freezing cold and wet that I had a flake on my return and three bowls of ricekrispies, still I suppose I walked enough to justify it Wink
baked potatoes and tuna for supper
picnic lunch was a bread roll, kabanos, boiled egg, satsuma, swig of bitter lemon, fruit juice
cup of white tea too

Shaxx · 26/10/2010 20:40

Hooray! I made it to the gym today!
I think I'm getting back into the exercise thing. i ran for 16mins withought stopping!

Hi Desire. How are you going to lose the weight? we'll all support you Smile

I'm going to watch Vampire Diaries with some nice fruit tea and go to bed early. I think early nights really help with weight loss.

desiretochange · 27/10/2010 06:08

Hi Swan and Shaxx* and thanks for welcome, am cutting down on crisps, chocolate etc and attempting to do Slimming World at home with just the book which I find very confusing so really at minute I am just stumbling through Blush, lost 2lb last week and at weigh in last night lost 1lb (and 2lb body fat) so must be doing something right Hmm
