(with thanks to Timba for title inspiration!)Grin

All welcome - this is a follow on from the September jeans thread for those who want to lose a little or a lot, but need some support to keep them going.

Am munching a Marmite rice cake as I type, and am about to force myself to go and do a Davina cardio work out, even though I would much much rather lie on my bed with a cup of tea and a book, and watch the rain outside.. Smile

Shaxx - 16 minutes running Shock

I walk about 4 miles a couple of times a week, plus school runs. Tried to start Couch to 5K a couple of weeks ago but an old knee injury recurred so have to stick to walking. That will teach me to step out of the conservatory before the builder has actually built the steps.
The weather is playing havoc with any plans here. However, doing a lot of Dance on Broadway on the Wii with the kids and gym planned later when DH gets in from work.
Planning a fruit/veg day with a can of Big Soup for dinner - whole can only 200 cals. I have people for lunch tomorrow so if I take it easy today I can enjoy some 'treats' tomorrow.

Serendippy · 27/10/2010 15:50

Am very impressed with the 16 min running! Even at my fittest (and youngest) I could only ever run one mile, just don't think I am built for running. Can walk miles though.

Have lost 6lb so far but really seems like an uphill struggle, don't really mind the healthy food and exercising 5 nights a week but have sooooo much weight to lose, about another 2.5 stone. Impossible to imagine. Does it work to think in small milestones? Was going to try treating myself after every half a stone but my treats are food! Don't want to buy new clothes until I reach my target weight. Any suggestions, cheap and not involving babysitting?

hmc · 27/10/2010 20:39

Hi Desire - good to see you join the thread.

Serendippy - none food treats that work for me would be ordering myself a new novel (online from Waterstones) or some body shop products (again online...). Would something like that work?

Everyone sounds properly motivated which is great!

I was impressed with myself for planning in advance today - went to cinema with dc's to see a film starting at 11.45. Knew that we would need to eat, and to avoid making hunger induced poor food choices I smuggled in some pre-prepared sandwiches on wholewheat bread that I took with me! Dh laughed when I told him later

Quite excited as tomorrow the TV and DVD get installed in our log cabin (new gym at bottom of garden) so I can start doing work out DVDS (have ordered several which arrived yesterday) in a lovely purpose built environment. We've got a treadmill, bike etc on order but they won't arrive for a few weeks....

hmc · 27/10/2010 20:40

Ooops rogue apostrophe

desiretochange · 27/10/2010 21:57

Thanks for welcome HMC

desiretochange · 28/10/2010 22:13

Ooops . . did I kill the thread??

Serendippy · 28/10/2010 22:29

Yes Grin

No, in serious was too ashamed after not shredding today and having 4 chocolate biscuits.

Serendippy · 28/10/2010 22:29

seriousness...

desiretochange · 28/10/2010 22:35

Yay:) Tomorrow is another day Serendippy, hide the chocolate biscuits Wink

Serendippy · 28/10/2010 22:39

Oh they are well hidden, all in my tummy now. (Friends came over for coffee bearing bicsuits, am too ashamed to tell people I am on a diet as expect them to say 'Thank god, about bloody time fatso' or ask how it is going all the time which would get on my nerves). Am ready for another day to start, just have to get off the computer to end this one!

hmc · 28/10/2010 23:18

However, when you do tell them you are on a diet Serendippy, it is astounding how many of them urge you "Go on - just one won't hurt"

Timbachick · 29/10/2010 19:06

Hello again everyone ... please can I ask for a HUGE kick up the arse to get me moving again ... please [hgrin]

Seriously, am in need to motivation in order to get me off my bum and moving and eating properly.

Hello to everyone new here and hello again to all who've been before ... feel very shamefaced at disappearing for a while ...

swanriver · 31/10/2010 09:22

I'm back from half term hols in Eire, I've done lots of holiday walking but drunk quite a few glasses of wine and eaten robust winter warming meals including rather a lot of cake.
Last night was the final straw as came back from long plan ejourney with kids, drank 2 hot chocs made with carnation milk, ate several almonds, 5 slices of salami! Did feel a bit better though, sometimes only food will do Grin

Still this morning, will start afresh.
cup of coffee

lunch - red cabbage, brussel sprouts and something else...not quite sure what (the cupboard is bare)

supper will include some sort of mashed swede as there is 2 large leftover swedes in fridge
pumpkin muffins in there somewhere?
NO SWEETS [hgrin]

Serendippy · 31/10/2010 17:11

Have just shredded! Bloody hard to keep motivated isn't it?

Timbachick am going to try and post every (most) day honestly about whether I have done exercise and eaten well, I figure if I have to tell people I will try harder. Stick with it, you know we feel better if we do!

swanriver · 31/10/2010 23:05

ate today:
small hamburger with bun/2 onion rings at McD for lunch
several Halloween biscuits
slime soup (brussel sprout [hgrin]
another small helping of pumpkin soup
medium portion of lamb casserole
2 satsumas
drink of red juice
several jelly snakes
I snickers bar
I mini mars bar

oh dear!...at least no alcohol included

if the truth is called for - Serendippy
also a fair bit of walking/carrying of heavy bags

Serendippy · 01/11/2010 08:16

I forgot to turn the hot water on yesterday so could not have a shower after doing workout DVD... so did it again a few hours later! Then ate a very healthy tea followed by lots of trick or treat chocolate. No excuse now to have nice stuff in the house so (yet another) fresh start today. Still on 6lb weight loss. Am planning cereal for breakfast, omlette for lunch and chicken casserole for dinner, same as DD. NO SNACKS!

Swanny, that doesn't sound like an awful day food wise, especially as you were walking a lot. Now that hallowe'en is over, you can cut out the biscuits and keep up the good stuff like slimy soup Grin

AreYouAFreudOfTheDark · 01/11/2010 08:37

Hello again folks :)

Holiday was great, though me and the kids got a sickness bug. So I didn't eat much (which was really hard as it was all so yummy) but also didn't do much except walking.

Lost another 2lbs in 2 weeks so still slow but feeling happy as it's been a really long time since I was this far below 15st.

Also was able to get a few size 14 clothes in Spain, and a new belt because my current one is now far too big :o

Is there a November challenge yet? I'm off to change my name now Halloween is over.

Hope everyone is doing well :)

swanriver · 01/11/2010 13:24

So far...lots of walking
breakfast, coffee, raisin and oat biscuit in coffee shop [yes I know that wasn't a good choice Blush
lunch grapes, remains of cream cheese sandwich, teaspoon of mayonnaise (?) glass of leftover "blood" (pomegranate juice)black coffee, water, apple

on the run from various not done household chores at moment and fridge still a complete disaster zone since being away on holiday..so meals are a bit hit and miss at moment

swanriver · 01/11/2010 13:25

oh yes, another h. biscuit too. A friend made them, they are DELICIOUS. nearly gone now!

springlamb · 01/11/2010 14:18

Rubbish few days for me. I've had a horrid cough/cold thingy and felt like something nasty stuck on the bottom of a nasty person's shoe. Lived off bacon sarnies and choc chip cookies. Waist nearly an inch larger.
So starting again today, in 7 weeks time I will be on a Mexican beach and I will not be mistaken for a whale this time.
Gym this morning, although I got a bit puffed, small sensible meals, and leaving shortly for a 30 min walk before collecting dd and walking home again.

Serendippy · 01/11/2010 16:15

I find it really useful scrutinising my day like this, makes me see all the walking, bending and squatting I do just running around after DD and tidying away toys! Have done my 20mins exercise, afternoon nap happened, whoopee! Good on food so far and no nice stuff in the house, now have to work out how to keep off the alcohol, feels like such a treat to have a glass of wine or seven when the evening is finally mine!

springlamb well done for going to the gym! Just getting there is a massive achievement Grin

Freud it is agonising when it happens slowly, isn't it? Size 14 is great though, congratulations!

thatsnotmyfruitshoot · 01/11/2010 16:54

hi everyone, nice to see this still going. I've been ill and on holiday (in that order, thankfully) so not checked in for ages. Are we continuing this thread or starting a new one for November?

I am still staying away from the scales but am doing the shred workout every day and seeing a big difference in muscle tone, and reduction of flab around my ribs and stomach. I almost don't want to weigh myself in case I get demotivated!

Just having a cauldron foods balti for dinner. Only 365 cals including rice, so pleasantly surprised.

It is so difficult not to eat late night snacks, but I think once you break the habit, you're sorted. Totally agree with shaxx on that one! I used to crave a cheese and pickle sandwich (with mayo spread) every night at about 9pm.. would never do that now, it was just a really bad pattern of eating I got into.

OP posts:
springlamb · 01/11/2010 17:06

Yeah the cheese....oh man, the cheese...

But with me I realised that over the past year or so I had taken to having a 9pm cup of tea with 8, yes 8, fruit shortcake biscuits. Well I would start with just the one.
Now I visualise a fruit shortcake biscuit as a biscuit with baked flies in it, I don't want them anymore.

swanriver · 01/11/2010 17:44

supper was lamb casserole with mostly root veg. Dh is due back later from a business trip so not quite sure what I am going to eat with him to keep him company...

anyway I feel completely full now, just have to remember I don't actually need any more food. Except possibly a satsuma.and a cup of tea...

springlamb · 02/11/2010 11:22

Gym again this morning - remember I only do the Gymophobics 30 minute workout so daily is not excessive. I don't do excessive. I shall pinch dd's skipping rope and do at least 3 Springsteen tracks later, then take the long route to school.
Yog/banana for breakfast, proteins for lunch I think and I haven't decided on dinner yet.

I've been trying to remember treats from my previous diets that I could have with my 9pm tea break. I'm sick of the sight of satsumas. The WeightWatchers dessert recipe yogurts are very nice, and I used to get small tins of fruit in jelly which were about 77 calories a tin (?Fruitini?. I wonder if I can still get those.

Now going to you tube Pet Shop Boys 'Go West' and jig a bit on the basis that every little helps. Join me!
