hi everyone, i have been a soldier for 10 days now. its been going ok, im sticking to the plan,
but im finding that when i eat protien, its making me feel sick. has anyone else had this, im wondering if it psychological..

robin3 · 29/09/2010 14:34

Well done Snowie and yes please please keep in touch on consolidation, as that really is the proof of genius for Dr Dukan....and it would be massively motivating to know that it is going to work long-term.

I imagine it seems quite a big change introducing the new food items but I think that you have to trust in his research and to deprive yourself might result in your still feeling you are on a diet with all the risks of binging days that are common on diets. It seems to be designed to stop your body panicking when you have the new foods. How often do you plan to weigh yourself?

SnowieBear · 29/09/2010 14:44

Hi Robin, will do. I weight myself every day right now, but may move to once a week in Consolidation - the daily fluctuations may drive me bonkers otherwise!

I agree with your comment re the challenge of introducing new food and do put my faith in Captain Dukan... I think it'll work, I'll keep you posted!

insertexpletive · 29/09/2010 18:45

I am finding consolidation difficult to be honest.
Not in terms of eating too much surprisingly, more not eating enough.
I have continued to lose weight - now 3lbs down on where I was three weeks ago Shock

I can't bring myself to eat pasta, am not having bread or cheese etc. I have had 'celebration meals' but not really too much more than a glass or two of wine.

I think I really am terrified of putting it all back on. I did go a bit mad when I started stage three and ate banned foods, but soon brought myself back into line - maybe too much?

Sorry, this is probably not helpful for those of you on the dreaded plateau.

That is a great way of looking at it Lottie, thank you.

I will try and tinker a bit with my diet (she says, looking at boiled eggs for supper!) I can't help feeling that more weight loss is good, but my dh is less than happy as feels that I have lost enough.

thanks missnevermind - has taken me 5 days to shift a pound or three during a period which was scant to say the least... hope I'm not pregnant again. Oh Lord!

For Katisha: I read a blog about a man who introduced asparagus into his diet and whoosh off came loads of weight. Worth a try?

I must say though I am ecstatic to be on this diet since I have yo-yoed for years and GAINED. This diet is quite simply the dogs b*

Keep up the great work girls!

missnevermind · 30/09/2010 10:20

I have been reading his blog too Pru. He also runs a forum with recipes on it, but its not very active at all.

ihatethecold · 30/09/2010 10:50

Thanks Londonlottie for you reply. much appriciated

Dukandoit · 30/09/2010 11:05

Hi,

Just checking in to let you know that I hope I've rocked over my ridge as I'm another 1/2 lb down today.

I can understand the fear of those on consolidation about forbidden foods. I'm certain that I shall be nervous about eating them again. Afraid that I won't be able to stop at one portion... go mad and undo all this good work.

But still on cruise for the moment so getting ahead of myself......

insert, lottie - is it really an issue of control, i.e. knowing when to stop, having the right size portion, or rather dreading that your body will immediately react to that single slice of bread, that small serving of pasta and the weight will immediately start to pile up?

I definitely feel it's a question of closing my eyes and trusting Dukan here - really concern it'll all bounce back at the first taste of something carby. Please tell me I'm wrong and slap me round the head with some smoked salmon!

I reckon that if you can show the self-control to follow this diet in the first place then you can consume 2 slices of bread and some cheese without going crazy. It's the next phase of the diet and the critical part in re-training.

For me it is, and always will be crisps and biscuits, crisps and biscuits, crisps and biscuits....too many, too often and can't stop. Tragically these are the two items most commonly strewn over the office.

If I could have 4 crisps and 2 biscuits a day in consolidation I reckon I'd have to have in allocated by DP and then locked away.

zaazaa · 30/09/2010 22:20

No weight loss for me this morning Confused

zaazaa · 30/09/2010 22:23

I will stick to attack until Saturday and will have a full 10 days on it with a total weight loss of 3.5lbs if this continues Sad. I really was expecting more weight loss than that, maybe 5 or 6 lbs as others seems to have lost loads. I will move onto the cruise phase on Sunday and see what happens. Has anybody else had this thing happen, following diet but not much weight loss in attack phase? If so please tell me so I don't become too downhearted.

Hi londonlottie, I walk everyday for over an hour anyway and I have restricted the yoghurts to two a day. I am going to move on to the cruise phase now and see what happens...

I have 40lbs to lose so I thought my initial weight loss would be more as I understand that if you only need to drop a stone it takes longer. Could my body just be resistant and I need to persevere to beat it into submission?

Hi londonlottie, no it isn't TOTM, that ended last week and although I have had some constipation, I bought some psyllium husk capsules and that at least helped get things going in that department.

I wasn't eating masses of carbs before hand anyway as if I eat bread/pasta it makes my stomach bloat like it did when I was pregnant so thinking about it, you could be right Grin if I wasn't carrying too much water anyway, it could explain why no significant loss if most of the weight lost in attack is water.

You made me feel lots better, thanks very much for your encouragement. I took my measurements today just in case I lose body fat but the scales aren't budging as I think that can happen too.

3.5lbs down, just another 40 to go..eek!

insertexpletive · 01/10/2010 10:07

Hi Zaazaa, lottie is right, when on cruise pv days I only had veg once a day - with my evening meal. That seemed to work best for me.

I agree too that if you were low on carbs before starting this diet, your initial weight loss is bound to be slower - I lost 8lbs in the first week, but I was a carb pig Blush

How many diets have you tried prior to this one? I really believe Dukan when he says that if you have dieted lots in the past, you need time to convince your body that you mean business this time.

snowiebear - I think my issue is that having had a lifetime of a crappy relationship with food I am scared that I will start on a slippery slope again. I feel very in control of my eating habits now though and want that to continue.

On a positive note - we are doing Jeans for Genes at work today and every other person is commenting on how great I look Grin

Ha! Ha! Insertexpletive, I used to be a carbaholic but then the weight piled on around my waist and turned me into an apple shape, something that had never happened to me before as it used to go on evenly. I tried the Atkins about 2 years ago but it made me feel too yukky. Then in May, I tried the Neris and India diet and lost about 6lbs in a week but lost all motivation after a family death. I didn't really introduce carbs back into my diet much but I wasn't watching what I ate and if I wanted cake or rice etc I would have it. I didn't gain weight like that but I certainly wasn't losing any either Blush

I thought the Dukan sounded much better because of the low fast element and I have to say I haven't had any heartburn like I did on Atkins which is great. The bloated feeling has gone too.

I will persevere and like you try to keep the veggies minimal to see what happens. I am looking forward to the green stuff after a week of just protein. It's great that you guys share your experience and you are making me feel like there is hope Smile

Your stories are keeping me going right now

snowiebear, your weight loss is amazing and really inspirational. Congratulations to you, you must be thrilled Grin

zaazaa · 01/10/2010 10:42

insert that sounds great and how gratifying to get positive feedback from everyone. Well done Smile

kdk · 01/10/2010 12:00

Hi Zaazaa - just thought I'd reassure you that I too haven't lost as much as I'd have hoped.

Have been on attack since Monday and have lost 4lb ... while I'm very pleased with that I was hoping to have lost more.

I think maybe I'm overdoing the yoghurts (am eating 2 vanilla fat free and 1 plain 0% fat each day - occasionally one fruit) but at a loss as what else to eat in morning with my galette as can't face meat. Also been having a hard boiled egg as a snack.

Other than that just low fat ham/beef/smoked salmon/trout or mackerel for lunch and beef or fish or chicken for dinner.

Have been drinking lots of water and walk at least 20 mins every day.

Only other thing I can think of is I take HRT due to early menopause.

Was planning on moving to cruise tomorrow but might wait till Sunday. Am really missing tomatoes and salad!

Anyone got any ideas/suggestions would me more than happy to hear them!
