Am going to stop eating crap and lose 4 stone. Want to help me stay on the straight and narrow?

That's it really. Need to lose 4 stone, have failed at every diet I've tried so am going back to basics - 3 low fat meals, 2 healthy snacks, 2 litres of water, more exercise.

I have to do it - on a serious note, have two gorgeous DCs and I want to be fit for them - this weight is not good for me and I know that I'm putting myself at risk of heart trouble, diabetes etc etc - and what's more, I want to wear a size 12 again - instead of size 20 for fuck's sake.

Have failed on all the summer weight loss threads so am hoping that starting my own will spur me on! So anyone with me? Or just want to come and shout at me when I want a chunky kit kat?

Oh Solo impressive!

and Niecie admirable
whereas me just hopeless! Put on at least 4lb and have the insatiable munchies today :(

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 29/12/2010 16:06

Look ladies, let's not panic yet. It may not be so bad and if it is...well, we'll get back to it on January the errr...2nd? all those in favour say 'I'

We will be fine, but we have to accept that we eat nice things over Christmas and new years. I had a piece of Christmas pud and some cream last night AND two glasses of red wine.

NineNieciesDancing · 29/12/2010 16:08

I daren't get on the scales - not so admirable erally!!

Not eaten chocolate yet to day, or cake but am coinsidering what to have for tea and the choices are limited and not good.

DS2 is poorly - we have tag team illnesses here - one gets better then the other has it, back and forth, back and forth - very boring and I am stuck indoors, turning inot a couch potato. I think he either has a bad cold or very mild flu. Temperature, snot and coughing but upright and functioning, just about.

It has not been a healthy Christmas unfortunately and DH has buggered off to work today even though he is supposed to be shut for Christmas (he is self employed). I am jealous!!

Sorry - I'll stop now before this becomes a mega whinge.

NineNieciesDancing · 29/12/2010 16:11

Oh cross post!

Sounds good to me. I might make a dent in the stock pile of food by 2nd Jan!! Xmas Blush Planning on getting DH to join me too. He is gaining what I am losing which is very bad. Lettuce and water will be our friends.

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 29/12/2010 16:13

Niecie, this illness lark is horrible!
I took Dd to the docs today as she has (as I suspected) conjuntivitis and thrush. The day after her birthday, she was delerious and kept me awake all night, she was burning up and very ill :( but at least she didn't sleep walk like Ds did.
Hope your Ds2 is better soon.

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 29/12/2010 16:15

Lettuce is fine in summer weather, but it does nothing whatsoever for me in winter so you are on your own there! Grin

NineNieciesDancing · 29/12/2010 16:57

Unfortunately, I need lettuce in salad dressing, but then I am not bothered what time of year it is. Pizza Express low fat dressing is gorgeous and just like the full fat stuff so I am quite happy to indulge.

Did the doctor give your DD anything? I hope so. Nothing worse than being told it is a virus and you just have to sit out. I hate not being able to make the DC feel any better.

I hope she is better soon too. It would be nice to see in the New Year with everybody relatively well wouldn't it!?

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 29/12/2010 18:48

Yes Niecie, she has eye drops and thrush cream so assuming can get her to lay still whilst I apply each of them...

I love salad Niecie and yes, I'd eat it during any season, but not every day in winter.

A lovely dressin to try is this:

Organic cider vinegar (a couple of tablespoons)
half a lime squeezed into the above
half a lemon squeezed into the above
sprinkle over salad.

De-licious!

NineNieciesDancing · 29/12/2010 20:13

I'm sure you have your own tricks for getting eye drops in but just in case, one doctor suggested getting a child to lie down and then to shut their eyes. You can drop the eye drops into the corner of their eye and when they open them they automatically go into the eye. It worked for us and DS1 is a particularly difficult patient.

The dressing sounds nice. I am not bothered about it not having oil - tbh I would be happy with plain vinegar. And I read in yesterdays paper that vinegar aids weight loss by reacting with fat somehow. Apparently if you put sufficient on your chips it helps. Wish I could remember the sceince though - it sounds like the ravings of a woman desperate to justify her chip consumption. Xmas Grin

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 29/12/2010 22:42

Nooo! it's true! but use Cider vinegar as it has no yeast in it! also, it has a lovely flavour.

frozenfestiveflo · 30/12/2010 12:54

well it's all going from bad to worse - kitchen is being decorated and I cant get in there long enough to cook!

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 30/12/2010 13:49

FLO! It won't take long though

NineNieciesDancing · 30/12/2010 14:10

Is it a case of you can't cook so you can't eat? That would be a good thing surely!? In moderation obviously - it can't go on to long or you would fade away.

Or is a case of you can't cook so you are living off selection boxes and the chippy? Not such a good thing although appealing for a while (or is that just me)? Xmas Smile

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 30/12/2010 15:00

nOT JUST YOU nIECIE, BUT THEN AGAIN. ooops! sorry about shouting.

I have had only 2 takeaways in over 2 years, so I'm drooling at the idea!

frozenfestiveflo · 30/12/2010 17:36

well ladies it was started yesterday so it was chippy tea Blush
then today after DH faffed around all morning then had to go and buy primer then came home and jetwashed allsorts, including the windows........ he painted the cupboard trims! I love him beyond words but god sometimes he drives me dotty! What it really means is that whatever we have will have to be fast and uncomplicated - cheese and crackers for lunch and probably sausage and mash for tea.
Feel like I have really let myself down :(

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 30/12/2010 18:05

No you haven't, it's an unintentional blip. Just try to be sensible and not eat biscuits to fill up on etc. You'll soon get back to it, we'll make sure of that Grin, we're your slimming buddies!

frozenfestiveflo · 31/12/2010 10:03

Thank you Solo, think perhaps a weigh today would be illadvised so gonna give myself until next week to assess the damage and have at least a few days of normality to get back on track.

Happy New Year :)

FiveColdRingsForSolo · 31/12/2010 13:48

Well, I have weighed in this morning at 14st 7 + 1/4lbs. For some reason, I'm having another AF after only being finished the last one for 11 days...:( so really I'm quite pleased with the weight.

Happy New Year to you all too.xxx

NineNieciesDancing · 31/12/2010 16:31

I forgot to weigh in this morning. Xmas Blush

Might have been unconscious decision not to ruin the weekend though. Or it could have been because DS2 was complaining of a tummy ache this morning, mainly to get out of having his hair cut more than anything so I was distracted! I had to go hardcore with him in the end and started talking about taking him to the doctors as they will be closed for the next 3 days. Miraculously he started to improve almost immediately!! Who'd have thought it!

Florence - don't worry about this week. It was never going to be easy for any of us and you have it especially bad with the kitchen out of action. You'll get back on track, I have no doubt. You have done so well.

Solo - well done to have not gained (I don't count 1/4lb as a gain Xmas Smile) especially in the face of AF and Christmas. I doubt I can say the same but so long as I haven't gone back over 16st I will be happy (ish)!

Happy New Year to you as well. May this year see us all get where we want to be in size and in every way.Xmas Smile

frozenfestiveflo · 03/01/2011 10:00

well this is it then - last day of so called festivities.
Should I try and finish all biscuits, mince pies, sweets and cake I wonder? hmmmmmmmmm

Oh and then theres the cheese!

Niecie · 03/01/2011 18:01

It is a problem isn't it? What to eat first? Why do I buy so much is another question!

My boys have an inset day tomorrow so not quite back to nromal just yet but no excuses on Wednesday.

Oh and when I weighed in on Saturday it was 15st 9.5lb. Biscuit

frozenfestiveflo · 04/01/2011 14:48

arghhhhhhhhh hungry :(

Niecie · 04/01/2011 15:06

I just had 2, yes 2, chocolate mini rolls with my lunch which was bad enough - a toasted cheese sandwich (the boys wanted one and I indulged them as it was the end of the hols).

They were past their best before date and they needed to be eaten but one would have been sufficient.

I'm worried about geting my motivation back - it seems to have deserted me.Sad

frozenfestiveflo · 04/01/2011 15:29

I have the determination but am so hungry and there are still all kinds of goodies here!:(

Niecie · 04/01/2011 16:00

It is tough, I know. If you are really hungry, have something healthy and hopefully even if you succomb to the bad stuff you won't eat loads of it as the healthy stuff will have filled you up.

We have too many goodies too - I can't bin them though which is what they would do is I had some food expert from the telly come and sort me out. So I either have to eat it or pass it on to the rest of the family. Some stuff they won't eat like dates, so I figure I had better just eat it quick and deal with the consequences.

I did have a good walk this morning though so that is something.

Is your kitchen finished yet florence? Are you back to normal?
