Am going to stop eating crap and lose 4 stone. Want to help me stay on the straight and narrow?

That's it really. Need to lose 4 stone, have failed at every diet I've tried so am going back to basics - 3 low fat meals, 2 healthy snacks, 2 litres of water, more exercise.

I have to do it - on a serious note, have two gorgeous DCs and I want to be fit for them - this weight is not good for me and I know that I'm putting myself at risk of heart trouble, diabetes etc etc - and what's more, I want to wear a size 12 again - instead of size 20 for fuck's sake.

Have failed on all the summer weight loss threads so am hoping that starting my own will spur me on! So anyone with me? Or just want to come and shout at me when I want a chunky kit kat?

I've heard that about when to eat fruit before...not sure I buy the bit about cold water though, although I do like a coffee after my evening meal.

Right now thought, I'm trying to step away from the chocolate cake the kids are having with blueberries for pudding...I was hoping the berries would entice me, but not nearly as much as the creamy gooey cake - it's winking at me I swear!

I have just made a pizza for kids tea and I know they won't eat all of it . I really need a kick to not finish it off .

I have cooked roast chicken for me and dh (ridiculously fussy children in this house) . We don't normally eat till after 8 which is too late but he doesn't get in till 8 . Might have to start eating earlier then I won't be tempted to finish off pizza .

SparkyMalarky · 13/09/2010 18:25

Step away from the pizza and move to a safe area!!

Avoided cake (had a glass of water and emptied the dishwasher) but did fall foul to half a cheese sarnie found when sorting out the kids' lunch stuff. Bugger.

travellingwilbury · 13/09/2010 19:12

I have managed not to eat the pizza Grin
Well done on not eating the choc cake Sparky .

I have just had some chicken salad so I am feeling all virtuos . Now I just have to go to bed at 9 so I won't be tempted to eat rubbish later .

looneymum · 13/09/2010 19:58

Hi All. Have been good so far... avoiding stuffing in lovely warmed crusty bread with butter left by the kids was a trial.

Yep, agree with you Trav, off to bed any minute now for me too! Can't think of any other way of keeping hands out of the kitchen cupboards!

Will be fresh and invigorated tomorrow... and starving!

travellingwilbury · 13/09/2010 20:10

Well done on avoiding the crusty bread and butter . Bread is my downfall , that would have really tested me .

SparkyMalarky · 13/09/2010 21:28

Ooooh warm crusty bread..am salivating at the thought Blush!

Think I'm off to bed soon too - am going to watch that new Jamie programme on channel 4 about food in the US in the hope I'll be horrified at the size of their arses and persuaded to eat less:)

Knock Knock ..... room for another one in desperate need???

I weigh 16 stone Shock Shock

Food controls me so much but i hate the way i feel being this size so much so i hate going out the front door..

And some one shouted get lost you FAT bitch to me today after i gave them a stern look for lifting his dog by the scruff of its neck and shouting at the poor dog..

SparkyMalarky · 13/09/2010 21:47

Come on in - we're a bunch of bread loving birds in here:) (not much chance of us low carbing is there?!)

solo I've just re read your post and am very impressed at walking 25 miles a week! The fruit thing makes sense - although I might not manage to avoid fruit after a meal if it's in a rhubarb crumble Grin.

SparkyMalarky · 13/09/2010 21:57

Sorry chocolate spiders - just realised my post wasn't very sympathetic - that guy was clearly just rude full stop. And you're the same weight as me - but just think, if we can all eat better - we will never see those numbers on the scales again :)

Am off to dream about buttery bread and size 14 (I'm becoming more realistic all the time!) jeans

chocolatespiders · 13/09/2010 22:06

no chance of me low carbing... my dieting saviour is WW bread with tiny ammount of hummous and salad and sweet chilli sauce.

I have some lovely things i would love to be slimmer for, its mine and lush new mans year anniversary next month so will be going out for a boogie, we also have tickets to go and see Faithless in London and we have a wedding to go to in december i cant go out looking for size 20 outfits... Fingers crossed they will be size 16

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 13/09/2010 22:16
  • Guess what??!! I said NO to choccie biccies at play group today Grin Had my oat cakes instead. Did have a slice of birthday cake after lunch though, but thats been it. Now need to resist biscuit tomorrow as well.

Well done TW on avoiding pizza Grin

DingALongCow · 13/09/2010 22:28

Another lost soul here, 5'6 and an uncomfortable size 18. After I had DS last year I lost lots of weight as I was superhealthy whilst pregnant but it has crept back on again and I hate it.

I have taken up knitting and sewing in the evening to keep my hands busy and it works ..sort of.

I had a salad filled pitta bread for lunch which is also a start - as long as we don't mention the three slices of triple chocolate birthday cake I also had Grin.

Realised today I eat because I am bored, stressed or thirsty, realy need to break that cycle

solo · 13/09/2010 22:38

Good on you giraffes! I'm not starting until tomorrow...Grin
I've gained a lot in the last two stressful, depressing years through comfort eating and I want to lose at least 3 stones.

The 25 miles a week is subject to getting out of the front door early enough and that the M.E doesn't start screamingloudly in my ears Sparky. Wish me luck!

solo · 13/09/2010 22:40

I've always thought that drinking cold drinks after meals wasn't a good idea due to fats being solidified on route iyswim? but cancer?!! Had a cup of hot tea with my evening meal.

LRB978 · 13/09/2010 23:16

Hi, is it alright if I join in. I am trying to lose a total of 5 stone, am doing it with the help of a council run weight loss group, but honestly the more support the better, especially for this time of night (I get the munchies really badly). The main thing about this group is it works on portion size and control, so I am meant to stick between 5 and 8 portions of carbs a day (with a list of what a portion consists of), 2-4 portions of protein and so on. They also set targets which are set on 1-2 lbs a week weight loss, with a 5% loss target to begin with.

All that being said, a week and a half ago (the 2nd September), when I was first weighed, I was at 84.7kg/13st 5lbs. I was set a target of 80.3kg/12st 9 1/2lb in 9 weeks. I don't get weighed again with them until the 22nd, but I weighed myself today and am at 82.5kg/13st already. I just hope I can keep it up.

Niecie · 13/09/2010 23:27

Can I join in too please?

Lost 2 stone between middle of February and early July but the summer holidays and loads of family birthdays and silly things lead to me go back to my old ways. I haven't put any on (well maybe 2lb) but I still have at least 4 stone still to lose and am struggling to get back to it.

Managed to get back on track today but I am worried I won't be able to keep it up so could do with somebody to walk the path to slimness with.

Nobody really knows about it in RL - I hate to be checked up on - so can I be a diet bore compare notes with all of you please? Grin

Niecie · 14/09/2010 00:09

Oh and I put on after giving birth too. With both of my boys I was back to my pre-baby weight within a week of giving birth but somehow managed to put on a stone in the 3 yrs between DS1 and DS2 and then another 4 stone after DS2 (who is 7 tomorrow - anybody for birthday cake? Blush).

I blame those people who say you need to eat when bf and that the weight will fall off. I did keep eating so I kept up my side of the bargain but the promised weight loss never happened. Plus I kept on eating like a bf mother even after they stopped feeding which I suspect was a mistake!!

giraffesCantDanceInBrokenHeels · 14/09/2010 06:51

Id like to see references to medical research for the cold drinks cause cancer thing. Boday temp is 37 anyway so anything you drink gets warmed up, infact annorexics often deliberately drink very cold things as a way of making the body use up energy to warm back up.

How are we all today? I cant be bothered moving. Have to find some energy - have an extra mindee today, a 9 month old baby :) Maybe I will be so busy I will forget about the choc..Hmm

The weather here yesterday was awful - pourig with rain all day and car was rocking from wind. Hope today is atleast dry to can get out for a bit and walk.

travellingwilbury · 14/09/2010 07:29

Right I have just weighed myself and I am officially 13 stone 1 1/2 pounds . That is the biggest I have ever been other than pregnancy Blush

I have got to get on track .

looneymum · 14/09/2010 08:07

Morning Slimcia Girls.

Managed to get through last night which is a start. Well done to the rest of you who did it too. I will be fresh as a daisy if I keep going to bed just after Corrie starts!

Trav - you are just a pound and a half away from 13 - it could be off by the weekend!

I am four pounds away from a whole number but it is a real struggle. I have just basically lost the plot.

Am going to bring my trainers downstairs and do some running on the Wii fit these eve and do floor exercises... that way I can't blame the weather for lack of calorie burn!

There are some great threads on here. Just think, we could all be shadows of our former selves by xmas.

Right its a work from home day today (read as wrestle with the biscuits day).

Hi Sparks - hope it's a good day for you. Challenge for the day - no bloody kids leftovers!
x

Preciousdaisybear · 14/09/2010 09:20

Hi, was good yesterday - avoided potato waffles DS and DH had for tea and had double dose of veg, feel very virtous. Have incentive in that DS2's nanny is size 8 (boo hiss) talk about a stick to beat myself with...

Hope today will be good too, started with porridge and off to take 4 mth ds3 to his swimming.

Ps my ds1 refused to let my onto his highsleeper because he thinks I am too fat and I will break it! and he thinks I weigh more than my (considerably heavier) dh! :(

canella · 14/09/2010 09:35

can i join too - needing some motivation to lose weight!

i'm 5'10" and at my heaviest 13st 5lbs. Got myself down to 12st 12lbs but really want to be 12st or even a bit less.

I'm a SAHM and just find i'm not burning enought calories in the day. I can be anally retentive about food when i want to be and go jogging/walking 3 or 4 times a week but thats only for 30 mins a time. I've even been doing my hoovering with more vigour to try to burn some more calories but not shifting it. When i used to work i was always 12st 4 or less but feel a long way from that at the mo!

so food for today
had a bowl of special K type cereal with milk
2 slices of toast

plan for later
rice with meat and veg (leftover from yesterday)
some fruit in the afternoon
chicken and veg stir fry tonight (no carbs)
and lots of water.

dont think that sounds too bad?

Tippychoocks · 14/09/2010 09:46

Me too please. I am 5'6 and 14 stone exactly or I was a month ago. I may (hoefully) have shifted a pound or so since then.

I don't have scales and tbh I don't care about weight - I have mega norks and they haven't changed size since I was a size 10-12. I'm proper sturdy, me Grin and look haggard and liable to snap if too thin. I just want to go back to pre-baby size 12 curves with no flab.
More Nigella and less Nelly the Elephant.

I'm doing a very vague detox thing this week to try and break a psoriasis flare up so I am already off the carbs and doing fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, salad for lunch and salad and small omelette or other veggie protein for dinner. I did also eat a digestive biscuit with DD after a walk, with a coffee (very non-detox!) but in my defence it was raining.

How does everyone find the 2l of water? Some days it's fine but on others I feel I'm forcing it down. I don't drink anything else, just tea or coffee (which I'm off this week for the most part).
