Am going to stop eating crap and lose 4 stone. Want to help me stay on the straight and narrow?

That's it really. Need to lose 4 stone, have failed at every diet I've tried so am going back to basics - 3 low fat meals, 2 healthy snacks, 2 litres of water, more exercise.

I have to do it - on a serious note, have two gorgeous DCs and I want to be fit for them - this weight is not good for me and I know that I'm putting myself at risk of heart trouble, diabetes etc etc - and what's more, I want to wear a size 12 again - instead of size 20 for fuck's sake.

Have failed on all the summer weight loss threads so am hoping that starting my own will spur me on! So anyone with me? Or just want to come and shout at me when I want a chunky kit kat?

well I struggled all day then DH sat next to me with a box of Thorntons WTF!!!!!!! arghhhh so that was that.

Day 1 again today then.

Kitchen is painted but not finished - but yes I can at last cook again :)

Niecie · 05/01/2011 12:42

The chocolates are gone now - your DH can't tempt you again with those.

Today is indeed another day so forget about it - they can do no more harm. Smile

Having said that, I don't foresee a return to normality for me until next week now. It has been a weird week - can't believe we are half way through it and yet if feels like Monday as the boys went back to school today.

Will have to start behaving but can't see it happening somehow - I am simply not in the mood. Blush

Niecie · 06/01/2011 20:46

Anybody weighing in tomorrow? I will try to remember but I am having trouble remembering what day of the week it is at the moment.

Hope you are all OK. Smile

frozenfestiveflo · 07/01/2011 09:09

Not decided yet! lol
Shall decide when I go back upstairs. May do just to assess the real damage and then throw myself in on Monday

frozenfestiveflo · 07/01/2011 09:32

Bit the bullet - 12st 13 so thats 5lb on :( Guess it could have been worse

Niecie · 07/01/2011 14:55

Same here, 5lb on. Sad

However, I won't be too down hearted. I lost too quickly in the 2 weeks before Christmas because of us all being ill so it was never a 'real' loss in my mind. Probably about 2lb of genuine loss and 3lb of fake loss.

Also, 5lb is still too much but I figure if it went on that easily some of it will come off easily too especially as I don't normally live on a diet of Roses and cakes.

Monday is a fresh start.

frozenfestiveflo · 07/01/2011 15:34

I ventured outdoors yesterday with DD and a spaniel who is awful on a lead and it was hard work but I sort of thought I could do that more and then today it's chucking it down!

I have been awful again and picked all day - think its hormonal too and am so tired, cant get going and just want to curl up and cry :(

So Monday here we come then

Niecie · 07/01/2011 16:58

Tiredness is very bad for weight loss. Apparently, people who don't get enough sleep (6+ hours) are something like 70% more likely to obese. And of course the longer you are awake the longer you have to eat aside from the hormonal aspects of it.

I am really bad at going to bed, rarely sleep more than 5 hours in one go and I did have a New Years resolution to try harder. I reckon it might be the one of reasons my losses have slowed down so I entirely sympathise with being tired and picking because the two are related. Sad

Not doing very well on that resolution unfortunately. If anything I have been getting less sleep than average.

Being tired also scuppers the other resolution to do more exercise as I just can't be bothered. I made a cardie for myself this morning (well it has taken a week but I spent the morning finishing it off). Hardly a fat burning cardio work out is it?! Even hoovering would have been better. Blush

Hope your tiredness is temporary and you have a good weekend flo.

solo · 07/01/2011 21:01

Hello ladies! I weighed in at 14st 5lbs. Not unhappy with that at all especially as I downed a whole box of Teachers liquers and a box of champagne truffles in the space of two days Blush once I open them, they have to be eaten. Just think how much I could've lost if I hadn't had them Angry Then again, they were two of the 4 gifts I received (two were from MN) this Christmas, so I shouldn't feel so bad. Should I?! Hmm

Sorry to hear you are both feeling a bit :( about getting back on track.

Flo, have you tried a Halti for the doggy? my last dog was a nightmare for pulling; my Ds still has the scars from being dragged down the street. The Halti was a God send.

Both Dc's are still ill, Ds went back to school on Weds, but was really unwell last night/this am, so I kept him home; Dd has not returned yet.

frozenfestiveflo · 07/01/2011 21:05

Good for you Solo and definately entitled to eat the chocs!

Not tried a Halti but tbh although he is trained in lots of other ways we have never really tried too hard but thats all about to change. It has to as it seems we are having a puppy soon.

So we are starting at the very beginning with a 3 year old mad cocker spaniel - yippee!

solo · 07/01/2011 21:07

Excellent! and thanks for letting me off re the chocs.

Niecie · 08/01/2011 11:22

Oh no Solo, sorry to hear your DC still aren't well. It is really dragging on isn't it? I hope you got to enjoy Christmas day a bit. We seem to be back to normal for the time being (touches wood) but we had about 4 weeks where at least one person was ill and it wasn't fun. I began to think we would never get better. Have they had swine flu do you think?

Florence - DH wants a dog for weight loss purposes - does it work? I don't want one very much personally (I reckon being home most of the time I would be one the doing all the work) but DS2 would think he had died and gone to heaven if we got a dog. He is not happy that we are the only branch of DH family that don't have one after his brother got a puppy just before Christmas. I am under serious pressure!

As for the dieting/sensible eating - Monday seems to be D Day so I going to enjoy the weekend and hoover up dispose of whatever leftovers I can.Smile

frozenfestiveflo · 08/01/2011 11:28

Nieice yep I am hoovering too lol. Kids birthday party today and dinner with friends tonight arghhh

Not sure about the dog and weight loss tbh, but if it means you walk more I guess it has too. In truth he is so bad on a lead that I dont take him often enough, but DH takes him at night. The new puppy coming will of course mean that we have too!

solo · 08/01/2011 14:49

No, not swine flu. I took them both to the docs yesterday and he just said flu. Ds says he feels a lot better today, but I can see he's still not well.
Dd is not too bad, but I think she's hidden the eye drops, so I can't continue treating them before sending her back on Monday. I'm still rough, but I'll live me thinks!

I think that the downside of dog ownership outweighs the up (my opinion and experience). I was without a dog for two years and took on another one, but the dog hair rolling down the hall in the summer and vacuuming 4 times a day was the reminder of why I didn't miss having one when I didn't iyswim. I'm without now as she died 2.7 years ago and am happy not to have one tbh. I think it takes pause for thought before the paws for thought Grin, you can walk without a dog, it's just willpower. Dogs are a bind when you want to go on hoiday or just go off for the weekend/stop overnight unexpectedly. Vets are expensive too and even paying out for insurance can cost a lot. OTOH, dogs are great company.

frozenfestiveflo · 10/01/2011 08:43

Morning ladies are we ready?

Solo - hope the children are better now.

Niecie · 10/01/2011 10:09

Good Morning

Hope everybody is well and your children are OK today and able to go to school, Solo.

florence - that is one seriously cute puppy you are getting.Smile

Well, today the mind is willing but I am not so sure about the body. I am starving at the moment - no idea why, I am not usually this hungry at this time of day. Trying to think of something healthy to eat but the kitchen is a dangerous place. It might have to be an apple!

Good luck. We are going to back on track by the end of the week, I just know it!

solo · 10/01/2011 14:28

Children back at school, but I think Ds may have the start of conjuntivitis and my chest hurts...

I ate my first cheese and pickle sandwich this lunchtime and I didn't enjoy it one bit!!!

Niecie · 10/01/2011 16:36

Oh no! Conjunctivitis isn't too bad though. Presumably your DS's school is like ours and as long as you have seen a doctor you are allowed back? I know the schools are worried about it being contagious but the doctors I have seen think the schools are being over cautious. I hope it turns out to be nothing in the end and save you from the doctors again!

Anyway, it is grim trying to be sensible with food in January isn't it? I am not doing well.

I may have to transfer all non essential and chocolate related products to the garage at the end of the garden so I am not tempted to pick at them.Blush

solo · 10/01/2011 20:13

Hi Niecie :)
Ds's eye is very red. If I can find the hidden eye drops that Dd had, I'll probably use them on Ds...just got to find them Hmm

Yes, good idea re the goodies...banish them to the garage.

I think I'm going to start having eggs for breakfast each day and maybe lemon squeezed into hot water...try to keep the loss momentum going.
Did you see the tv program on the other night about diet/weightloss? it was an analytical type of thing and very interesting.

frozenfestiveflo · 10/01/2011 21:02

oh never saw that Solo, any tips?

have the drops been found?

We often have eggs for lunch - we have chooks so a ready supply :)

DH is working hard to clear our goodies!

solo · 10/01/2011 21:43

Yes, whizzing up your entire meal with a cup of water to make a soup apparently keeps you full for longer.
Also, doing some rigorous walking burns off lots of fat even when you are sleeping (so walking for 90 minutes burned off 19g of fat, but sleeping/resting for an amount of time continued to burn off 49g of fat!!!)try to watch it online or catch up if you can, very interesting...can't remember which channel it was on though.

Niecie · 10/01/2011 21:54

If it is the diet programme I am thinking of, top 10 dieting tips, I think it is a repeat of a programme that was on this time last year. I only watched a tiny bit of it this year.

If we are talking about the same programme - was it the one that had the large actress lady who thought she ate healthily because she had fruit for breakfast but actually it turned out she was eating the same amount as a family of 4 (an exaggeration but you get the jist - she was eating a lot more than portions worth). Did it also have the thing about soup being more filling than food? One lot of people ate a sunday roast as normal, another lot had exactly the same food but blitz to make a soup and the soup eaters were less hungry and therefore less likely to overeat as a result.

Or I am making a twit of myself again and you are talking about a completely different programme? Grin

It was, as I remember a good programme. You might be able to pick it up on iplayer if you were interested.

Niecie · 10/01/2011 21:56

Opps cross post. Smile

I found this on iplayer if you are interested.

I am pretty sure there is an article to go with it - or there was.

solo · 10/01/2011 21:57

10 Things You Need To Know About Losing Weight. BBc iplayer...well worth a look.

Dawnybabe · 10/01/2011 22:11

If this is the program I saw the other night, it seemed to say that fat people are fat because they eat too much and there can't be many other reasons.

Thanks. Make me feel bad that I'm a greedy pig why don't you.

Actually it was quite interesting, and it was probably right, I do eat too much, of the wrong things as well.
